With so many coffee shops in the UTC area, i never had the chance to try this spot. It's been in UTC awhile and always had a line, so I figured I try it out. It's a smaller cafe and more of a grab and go situation but there's lots of outside seating. I opted for the oat latte which was pretty good and smooth! I would definitely come back to try the other stuff.
The server was nasty person at 2:56 pm on Sept 3,26. I was with my girl friend,visited the shop the first time. When you walked in,you saw the pasty case was filled up with flys in it.. The server told me the extra large latte consists 4 shots of expresso in it and they only serve with the 16 oz cup.. I thought that if I have drink that amount of coffee by myself that I definitely will be,awake the whole night night ,so I decided to share with my girl friend that So, I asked the Barista to put the extra frothed milk in a extra small cup( I owed coffee shop many years ago before, in general extra frothed milk got toss away anyway,after each portion) and the guy jumped out of by the registar and ordering the lady with harsh tone of voice to toss out the milk...I was freious about his guy's atteduitde toward everybody. Therefore, I was pissed and do want to accept the order and asked for my refund $10 included a piece biscottii back. I told him I am never going to come here to your shop to buy anything in the future! That we went over to the Norstrom coffee shop treated with most decent services and respect.I f You ever need the coffee, walk a few more steps and get a better service at anytime and price..:(
Baristas are very fast and friendly. Hot drip is very solid. Perfect vibes to sip your coffee by the koi pond.
I was stoked to try La Columba Coffee Roasters after enjoying the canned drinks for so long. I tried the PSL on tap and it did not disappoint. It was SO light and frothy. The taste was on point, not too creamy and not too sweet. The cashier was so kind and helped me choose between the PSL and the on-tap oat milk latte. I'll definitely be back.
Coffee here is consistently good. Ask for glassware to have a more elevated experience. The red tables and the outdoor seating is cute, and gives european cafe vibes. Always love grabbing coffee at this place!
I got an iced vanilla latte and it was strong, smooth and not too sweet. I like my coffee on the sweeter side so I added a little simple syrup. I like that they give you a spoon when you pick up your drink to mix it in and they also offer simple syrup, half and half, and sugar packets to add to your liking. Service was pretty fast. I came around 2:30 pm on a Saturday and the line was constantly out the door. I would come back to try their other drinks.
This coffee roaster is located at UTC mall and the coffee is solid. I ordered the strawberry oat milk latte and it definitely had a hint of strawberry. It paired well with the oat milk and served at the appropriate temperature. Service was friendly and the ambience had nice outdoors seating.
My new favorite coffeeshop at UTC. This coffee shop is located on the Lower 1 floor between Ramen Nagi and Apple. Their drinks are made w espresso and they are very strong & rich. I got a Strawberry iced latte and a decaf latte. Now it makes sense why the line is always long here, both drinks were incredible. Prices are competitive for the area, & baristas were kind. Eventhough lines get long, after you order you get your drink pretty fast! Def worth a try!
Great coffee shop at UTC! One of my favorites! There's usually a line but the baristas are very fast!! Waited about 5 min in line! I also grabbed some fresh coffee beans the barista recommend which were great for my coffee at home ! Inside the decor is great and bright ! With windows all Around and they have great seating in their little patio! I grabbed their iced vanilla latte which was delicious! Next time I'll try some of their food items! Recommend if looking for great coffee at UTC!
This is a beautiful coffee shop at the Westfield Mall. My daughter and I went there after we had lunch because I was dying for a cup of coffee. I got a latte and although it was beautifully made, it just was too weak. The vegan chocolate chip cookie however was fantastic. I love that it was as big as my face. My daughter got an iced drink and she said it was weak also so I think they have to work on that but the people that work there were really nice and the place is gorgeous.
This is my favorite coffee & coffee shop. Cool vibes in the center of UTC! They have lots of cool merch here too. Also love the free bubbly water in the back.
La Colombe at UTC is my go-to coffee spot that consistently delivers beyond the basic brew. Their seasonal offerings and draft latte are seriously top-notch, with great baristas who actually know their coffee craft. The space is modern, and overall an ideal option for both quick caffeine hits and leisurely coffee to enjoy with a mall stroll, people watching, or chilling by the nearby koi pond.
The drinks here are delicious. Great cup of coffee. The service is quick - it seems to get busy periodically since it's at the mall. And keep in mind that the seats are all outside.
Awesome place! The coffee and pastries were outstanding! They have this beautiful outdoor patio area right next to a fountain. I sat there with my friends for hours drinking our coffee and playing cards. The baristas were great and made my coffee in a mug when I asked. The perfect shopping break! read more

Honestly it's such a vibe here. Admittedly, I come here just for that. The design of the cafe is just perfect. The see-through windows, the bar seating along the windows that open up, and the one-way traffic across the cafe...all screams cozy and articulate. I like that they post the menus outside too, in case of long lines, so that you don't flip and freak out when you get to the front and don't know what to order. What I've tried off their menu so far, were Americanos, Lattes, hot and cold. Cold drinks are my default though, you can never go wrong with iced coffee. Their white chocolate is popular, they run out quick, but regular choco does well in a pinch. I absolutely love the part where they give the cup to you at the end of the bar, for adjustments and adding in more milk/sugar. And also to see latte art before closing your cup. I don't know what it is, but that part in aspect allows you to take some time to appreciate coffee in general and then go back to the real world. It's just the little things that matter. Also, the employees are just always super uber nice here. They don't judge you for ordering two cups of coffee in one go, they actually commend the action! read more

HOT SIPS (4.75 stars) Sarcastically saying... nothing better than shopping around in an outdoor mall in mid-December in 70+ degree weather screams "I need a hot beverage". I like La Colombe coffee but I happen to always pass on this location until you feel like an ant amongst the holiday shoppers and this place is in the dead center with a fairly short and fast moving line. DECAF VANILLA LATTE - the beans were rounded, smooth, with tones of chocolate. I don't know why people are so anti-decaf. If you cannot appreciate a good cup of decaf you aren't that true coffee connoisseur. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MUFFIN - they didn't have the pastry items labeled and so I picked this by pointing and forgot all about ever it was but it was good. Moist, flavorful, and perfectly paired with a hot beverage. Will be back! Until the next sip... read more

This place was a great pit stop in the mall to get coffee! The lattes were crafted well and the cookie and muffin were great. The service was friendly and so easy to say my order. The cafe is right across from the apple store and there is outdoor seating. I love how the place is enclosed by glass windows and it makes it feel open and brings in sunlight! read more
Visited here for the first time today. I ordered a hot Mocha with Oat Milk ($7). They place a spoon and lid on a plate when the drink is served to you. They leave the lid off for you to put on yourself, I assume to show the beautiful art! I agree with other reviews that if you prefer sweeter drinks it may not be for you. It took a couple sips to get used to the bitterness. I really enjoyed what I ordered though - the temperature was perfect, not too hot and I could drink it right away. Looking forward to trying other items on their menu in the future! read more
Stopped in for a little afternoon caffeine boost while walking around the mall. There was no line which made it easy to walk right in and order. I decided on the Half Tan with a little bit of vanilla. It was ready in about two seconds! It tasted creamy, slightly sweet, which was perfect, and like there was plenty of caffeine in the drink! Very nice establishment in a very busy and upscale mall. I don't exactly remember what I ordered. I know it was tea. I think I expected a little bit more than what I got, but it was definitely made to order and it was a good experience. read more

I love La Colombe, though I haven't been here in a long time. Part of the reason was due to them not having large-sized drinks, but that has since changed. I did get the email about the large size addition. Their iced mochas are still one of my favorites because it is not too sweet (or I think unsweetened altogether). So good and refreshing! Service was quick and friendly. No line when we were there. Clean cafe with lots of places to sit outside. Nice vibe as this is at Westfield UTC. read more

Nice coffee from a nice brand: the only problem is that it's one of a few coffee locations in this nice mall, the line is LONG, and you will have to wait on a busy weekend/holiday for quite some time to get the great stuff in your hands. I almost walked away but there was no better option at the time and in the end ti is worth waiting for, took about 20+ minutes to get our goods. They very much need to increase the demand for capacity at peak times. read more

I always stop by when I am at UTC. My favorite is the almond milk latte, hot or iced its so good. The workers always have good recommendations and are nice. The space is nice; there's no inside seating but plenty of outside seating. read more
When pourovers are "market price" you know you're going to a coffee shop of privilege. Is La Colombe really better than all the other utra premium coffee shops in this high-end La Jolla shopping mall? La Colombe was cofounded by Todd Carmichael who starred in a short-lived TV show called "Dangerous Grounds". Even though his show was pretty good it was cancelled after two seasons ten years ago. I was always curious about their coffee and decided to try it at the UTC mall. The line out the door was slow which was frustrating because there's one register / cashier. The logjam inside is because you're forced to move down a narrow walkway where everyone is waiting for their drinks. One slow drink and the whole train of customers is forced to wait. The cynic in me thinks this isn't just poor design but it's a deliberate way to generate a long line outside and give an impression that there's something special and desirable inside. Who knows right? I agree with all of the negative reviews that mention that the service is non-existent here. La Colombe is a Philadelphia based coffee shop and perhaps that's their shtick. Dunno, but in San Diego it's called being rude. You're paying for a premium experience here but was the coffee worth the hype? No. I ordered two vanilla lattes. One with dairy and one with oat milk. The dairy came out scalding hot, the oat milk was slightly higher in temperature than lukewarm. Taste was boring for both. They have simple syrup on the bar but the coffee itself was all hype. As someone that waited 10 years to try La Colombe this is was big letdown. - Location is terrible. It's in UTC mall in San Diego CA. Great looking mall, absolute nightmare getting into and out of this mall. There's no easy-in-easy-out option if you're looking just for coffee. - You can buy small cans of La Colombe at national discount stores and liquidation stores. They even sell it at Trader Joe's. read more

Is it a suitable place to sit down with a laptop and do work?
It is but keep in mind it's an outdoor cafe in the middle of the mall so depending on when you go it might get loud and crowded. Also the chairs aren't that comfortable to stay there long term but their good to sit and work for 45 mins - 1 hour
Is there outdoor seating?
Yes, and it is nice. I liked the outside counter that looks inside through an open wall.
Is there a convenient place to park to quickly run in and grab a cup of coffee?
Not really... it's inside the Westfield UTC mall (across from the Apple Store) so you need to use the mall parking garage/lots. But the first 2 hours of parking are free!
Do they sell roasted coffee beans by weight?
They sell pre packaged roasted beans from different origins, but not from a bin where you can weigh out a specific amount.
Do they offer decaf?
yes they do offer decaff . I usually get a hot coco but my wife always gets a decaf cappuccino so the answer is YES ;-)
