My insurance company USAA sent my car there, which is wild to me because you'd think they'd send a military members car to a better more reputable place but my car got sent here. Upon arrival I was greeted in an extremely unpleasant way by an older lady. I had to get my things out of my car because they deemed it a loss and realized a lot of my things were taken. Not only did they move everything out of my center console and into the trunk but they also took several things too. Wish I could give this place negative stars. Literally just got in an accident on Tuesday and my insurance sent my car here. It was picked up from the tow company in Concord at 10:30 am on Wednesday. I arrived to Copart in Martinez around 1 pm and my car was still not there. The person at the desk couldn't tell me the whereabouts of my car just that it was in transit. I decided to come back the next day. My car literally hadn't even been there 24 hours and everything in my car was thrown into the back of my trunk. Not sure why they needed to remove all my things even before my car has been appraised. My plates removed and some random stuff shoved in an envelope. As I looked in the trunk I noticed many things missing. Personal belongings, shoes, chargers even my cup and lunch bag! I asked what happened to my things and no one had any answers. Told me to just report it to my insurance. This is so sick that they prey on vulnerable people at their lowest and steal from them. I spoke with a manager and she explained that their workers are monitored very closely and that they're men so it wouldn't be likely they took my stuff. Just bull lol . Obviously they aren't closely monitored if my car had still not made it to facility within 3 hours of it being picked up a city away. They're crooked thieves and their company really should be shut down. I read the many reviews from the previous years and it's sick they're able to get away with this! I don't write reviews on things a lot.. and this happened a while ago but it pisses me off every day because I lost almost $900 because of the unprofessionalism that I had to deal with at CoPart. I got into an accident in June of 2017.. and my car was taken to CoPart because the car was a total loss. I was informed that I could go and get my belongings that were in my car, so we called 48 hours in advance to let them know we were coming so my car could be ready to grab my items to which they let us know was perfectly fine and it will be ready.. so I arranged a family member to drive me over there.. over an hour to get there, not horrible... but it was out of their day. I waited over an hour until I was told okay awesome we will get your car.. another 30 minutes later they told me "your car is buried behind 15 other cars and it will take 4 hours to get it out" to which I almost lost my shit and started cussing them out.. even then I said I don't care I will go out there, sign a liability form.. be escorted.. all I want is my $900 worth of a stereo and other belongings that I still had in there that I couldn't pull from the accident. To this day I don't want to spend any money on anything, this place is unprofessional, unorganized, and they are very dysfunctional. My car was taking here by my insurance because it was involved in a small accident. Took 3 weeks to get it "inspected" when they brought it back to my house at 640AM which is an awkward time. (THE LOT OPENS AT 8-9 AM) when the tow company dropped off my truck there were no plates on it the driver said they would be inside STILL NO PLATES. Called Friday to ask about my plates they said "THEY ARENT LOST" we just have to "LOCATE THEM" took 2 days to locate and when they over nighter them to me they also included things they kept. Like my baby's picture with Santa, receipt, fast track device. Like why did they keep my things? SO WIERD. as I inspected my truck it was a mess. They literally went through every seat pocket, glove department, everything was a mess. This is the company that my car was towed to after my accident in Willits, CA. My husband and I were in the accident 01/18/2019. The car hit a 4 foot cement pole after sliding on a unmarked cattle grate in the rain, leading up to a ranch's driveway that was not marked as a driveway, and as it bent the pole, it slid up the pole and launched into the air. We did a spiral and also the car was whipped sideways. We landed directly on the trunk, and then slowly rolled over the top of the car from back to front, stopping hanging from our seatbelts as the car decided whether it was going to tip back over onto the top of the car, or continue the roll and end up landing on the tires. We ended up landing on the tires, thank God. My 1.5 year old daughter was in the back seat. We all left the accident with no scratches or scrapes. My husband and I ended up having bruised sternums, mine much more severe, and my daughter was doing better than both of us after the accident. After that back story, Copaart picked up our car from the tow yard the night before the day we were supposed to clear out all of our belongings. Four days after the accident on 01/22/2019, I called copart to see about getting our belongings sent back to us. I was told to get USAA to call them and give them permission to send it, because USAA would cover the cost of shipping, and also give them permission to open the trunk with a crow bar, because that would do more damage to the vehicle. USAA gave them the permission, and told them to send my items. Fast forward to today, they told me 2 days ago that they would be shipping my belongings, and then today told USAA when I had them call Copart that the car was already sold, but would not give a date that it was sold, with my belongings in it, and was already with the new owner. SHADY AF Even if your insurance company recommends using Copart, at least make sure it doesn't go to the Martinez location. I don't want to believe that every location is that disgustingly brazen in making me wait 2.5 months to find out that they never even tried to return my belongings, and also sold the car either before or after they confirmed with me this week that they would be sending me my belongings. I'm probably going to have to report them to whoever issues their licenses, because they need to be investigated. The 1 star is because of Camellia who answered her phone who did more than anybody else to try to right the wrong for me this week, but the lot manager probably lied to her too. She thought she had gotten a guarantee that they would send me my belongings, and then she's off work for a day, and comes back and they say that they won't do it...They probably sold the car on her day off so she couldn't do right by me... read more

Well, what good can one person say about a tow/salvage yard? None I tell ya. None at all. My car was to be towed to my home on a Wednesday, On Friday (no car yet) I called in to see where my car was. The person I spoke to couldn't find my name in the system, asking me for the Vin number. I don't know about you people reading this, but I do NOT remember my cars Vin number. So frustrated I hung up and called my insurance company. By the time I was able to get my information and call the tow yard back, they had closed, and remained closed during the weekend. Being without my car was hard enough, but at this point I had started to worry that they had lost my car, or maybe worse, what if they parted it out? Fast forward to Monday. I call the tow yard back to ask when I would actually receive my car. I gave the phone operator my lot number. She proceeded to tell me that my car was delivered on Friday. Imagine my level of stress when I heard this woman say that. I asked her to check again because if I had my car I sure as hell wouldn't be calling her. She put me on hold for about 4 minutes and came back telling me that the last note on my profile was that my car was out for delivery last Friday. She then proceeded to tell me that my car would be delivered at some point today. I was not able to get a set time for delivery so I asked if I could come and pick up my vehicle. I was told yes I could pick up the car but it's usually easier on the client of the car is towed. I laughed at this. If it was easier, I would have had my car a week ago. I got to the tow yard, got my release paperwork and waited for the kat mobile to get out of car jail. An hour goes by, all the people before and after me have gotten their cars and have since left. I begin to panic. on the verge of tears, I call my insurance adjuster and ask for help. Long ass story short, I did get my car back, After a few tears and a lot of worrying. But the service here is seriously lacking. There is a big gap in communication. and it sucks that I had to go through such a lengthily process just to get what was mine. read more

Copart auto auctions. VB2 software used to bid on-line is lousy. Information of vehicles being auctioned off is limited. No list for that day's auction is presented on their website using VB2 software. Item numbers for vehicles being auctioned are not sequential. Previous winning bid or bid history is not displayed. Apparently the auction may be concluded with a winning bid, but the vehicle may still not be transferred to the winning bidder due to the opportunity for the seller to counter the high bid amount. (a reserve auction) without disclosing that there is a reserve price. Lack of transparency.... Copart refueses to disclose the winning bid amount for any vehicle. Why in the world is this information kept secret? Other auction sites have far superior software that allows potential bidders to see all of the items up for aution, mark those to be watched or bid upon. Furthermore a complete bidding history of all winning bids is disclosed for that auction. read more

I told them I could get it to the Hayward spot (going about 20 mph, the drive was going- strut, suspension?)- any hoot, I got it to Hayward, they told me THEN that it was needed at Martinez, that Martinez would mail me the check over night. The policy for previewing here was the best one between most California copart yards. As a premium member we could go and check the cars out ourselves but now only 3 cars with an escort. What is the point of paying $200 to be a premium member and your account shows you buy more than 10 cars a month. I don't have a problem with escort. Hell they can frisk me but we need preview more cars. More we preview more we can buy. So more money for copart. But 3 only? This is a reason why we will buy less from copart and check Manheim and adesa and other auctions more. Bad management. Manager should have a list of premium members and buyers so they don't categorize you with thieves and people who can't be trusted. read more

My mom's stolen car was recovered and brought to Copart. Initially I had excellent rapport over the phone in having the personal items sent back. After at least 5 follow ups, they told me it was sent via FedEx and to look for it in the mail. Woohoo! (Sarcasm) After 1.5 weeks and nothing in the mail, I tried calling back and noone picks up...EVER! I tried continuously for 2 weeks and still nothing. I even tried from different phone numbers just in case they think it's the same annoying person trying to call about her personal contents, but NOTHING. Finally I emailed the Area Manager and the Manager and they told me they closed my work order stating there were no personal items in the vehicle. WTH! When were they going to communicate that with me?! I emailed back on 10/9 trying to figure out why their employees would flat out lie to me and still have not received a response back. The office staff is excellent. The operators SUCK! If you come picking up one or two vehicles be prepared to wait 2-3 hours or more once you hand your ticket to the loader guy. They put everyone in one line for pickup so even if you only have one car you wait with the transporters. This is so inefficient!!! Come on Copart be better than that read more

1 star - 1 star = ZERO! My insurance company deemed my vehicle a total loss after an accident and had me call these clowns if I wanted to release it. So I called them and scheduled pick up for the next day, so I could remove all my personal belongings that evening. On the drive home, I was saddened thinking about sending my vehicle off and as arrived home, my sadness quickly turned to anger when I found my vehicle was GONE! When I called to find out what happened, they told me they had a driver in the area and just sent him! I lost it at that point and told them that I had not even removed my personal belongings, so they tell me I can drive 50 miles to there location to retrieve my items. I REALLY lost it then! "I'm supposed to drive 50 miles to get my stuff when you took my vehicle before I said you could?!?!" They told me my only other option was for them to unload my vehicle and they would mail me my belongings. I stopped them right there and said "Thank you for nothing!" and hung up. Right away, I called my insurance agent and asked them to help. Apparently, when they're ordered so by the insurance company, they will do whatever you say. They returned my vehicle the next day, half of my belongings already bagged up and a half case of bottled water missing. They were super nice on the phone when I scheduled original pick up, then jerks to me when they screwed up. This is my first time bidding on an auction and winning. I won an auction for a genesis coupe using a 3rd party bidding system since I'm not a business. I wired the total amount at a bank in person and signed all documents through email and my car was ready for pick up the next day. I went the following Monday to Martinez around 8:15am with about 3 people ahead of me. I then gave my info, signed some papers and gave it to the yard drivers for pick up. They loaded it right up on my auto transport no problem. I was in and out of there within 30 minutes! I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The two employees I dealt with there were nice and polite. As far as the vehicle, the pictures were pretty spot on. No missing parts or additional damage. I will definitely come back here again. Horrible place. My car was totaled and taken to this place. When I went to get a pair of coach sunglasses out they were gone. The lady in the front office didn't even verify who I was, didn't ask for ID or my car registration. What??!!!?? Anyone could have gone into my car and retrieved my things? Really? What kinda business does this? Not only did my car get totaled and I had to get a ride to Martinez because I was injured, someone stole my property! I felt totally violated! Jelly Steele and Steve Do not let your insurance company take your car to Copart after an accident. I was involved in a car accident in Livermoore California October 5. After the accident my insurance company Dairyland took my car to Copart to do the appraisal while my car was at Copart it was damaged more by the neglect of Copart . Copart tried to hide the damage saying it happened in the accident but once all the pictures were shown they Took responsibility. To fix my car properly estimate was over $3000 but I would be without my car for 14 days I estimate $50 a day for rental car and inconvenience of not having my car. I received a check yesterday from Copart for $2000 On the back of the check it says if I cash this check it would release them of any responsibility. This check will not cover the repairs for my car or the inconvenience that I'm in. My warning to you if you were involved in an accident take pictures of your car before it goes to Copart that way you have all the proof you need before and after. read more
