Beyond grateful. I am a doctor and amidst the Covid crisis had my permanent retainer dislodge on one side. Multiple practices refused to see me because I was not established patient and my own dentist was out for three weeks. Dr. Badouri and his staff came in at 9pm the night of and fixed it within 30 minutes. He even submitted the insurance claim for me that night. The WORST dentist experience I have ever had. I switched my dentists for location/convenience and I regretted it 15 min into my appointment. Reception was helpful and polite, my dental hygienist was rude, and rough and had nothing but bad things to tell me, made my mouth bleed and hurt for a few days after. The dentist came in - told me I had a cavity, then sent in a gum specialist who told me how I needed to all of this work done when it was completely unnecessary. I never returned and instead went back to my original dentist who saw no cavities, no gum problems what so ever. This is closer to a 3.5 rating than a 3.0. I feel that the reviews here about the costs (save for the person who was billed twice) are somewhat irrelevant - you should know going in what your dental insurance does/does not cover and pick a provider accordingly. As Copley Dental was an in-network provider under my employer's dental plan, I have had to pay little to nothing for my services. My experience with this office has been very good - and I have had to come in for a variety of tooth-issues (oral surgery, regular cleanings, chips). I can make and re-schedule appointments easily, and they are good about sending email reminders since it's pretty difficult to keep those little appointment cards six months ahead of time. My one complaint is that I needed a pre-approval on a procedure from my insurance company, and I wasn't told until I came the day that the procedure was scheduled that they hadn't heard back yet. That was annoying, since I had taken a day off of work. However, the approval was necessary so I wouldn't have to pay $1,000 out of pocket. read more

If it were possible to give a 4.5, I would, just because they seem to prefer to wait until you are sedated and pinned immobile before they hit you with the bill. (They could at least stop and discuss that separately or wait until they're through instead of hacking away while asking you if having to open a new line of credit would make your day.) But if horrifically expensive dentistry is ever worth it, this would be the place. I've had 3 of the dentists (Dr. Badaoui, Dr. Dano, and Dr. Moroi) so far and I would not hesitate to let anyone in the office slice my mouth to pieces anytime. And I have a deep-seated phobia. They're all brilliant. Also, the first time I called with a shattered tooth they booked me an appointment within hours as a new patient. And they were very nice when I flipped out - they had valium brought in from CVS for me (pharmacies do take out? - who knew?) and let me sit alone in a room until it took effect before starting in with the torture. Since then, they've been very accommodating about my random schedule too. Maybe that's partially the lack of resistance over the price - perhaps I should try to negotiate. They have Saturday appointments - what more could you want in a dentists office? Oh, and they have an orthodontist in the office. And, do email and text message reminders rather than those annoying automated phone calls (which are an option if you like them). Location is awesome: The office is on the 5th floor of a building, overlooking Copley Square. Office is nicely painted and decorated, very modern. Awesome people work there. I'm a patient of Dr. badauoi for over 12 years. I no longer live in Boston, but I continue to travel long distant to get my annual cleaning and any major works done. I trust my dentist and if there is any issue, you could always call or contact dr. Badauoi. Dr. Moroi and Dr. Yamamoto are also very excellent Doctors! The good thing is the office will work with you. You could ask step by step process of a procedure, the cost breakdown, and even payment options. For example: monthly Invisalign payments or if some major surgery with a crown, if that could be spread the process through two calendar years. For example: surgery in dec of 2016 and crown in Jan 2017. Therefore you could maximize your flexible spending and dental allowance and minimize your out of pocket. During your check up, you could always ask the doctor the health of you teeth and if he/she foreseen any work you might need to be done , so you could allocate to your flexible spending. If you teeth is health, the dentist will simply advise so. Copley dental is more on the expensive side. However I had works done any never regretted or had any fear that something went wrong. The worst is getting something done and having to go to another dentist to get it fix all over again. I understand a few people have issues with the front desk being rude. All I could say is that she is not very approachable compare to the previous girls, but she does her job. read more

I've been coming here for years and years. The staff here is great, from the wonderful receptionists to the talented dentists. Everyone has a different experience at the dentist's office so I don't imagine that I could alleviate anyone's fears or preconceptions of what happens there. All I can say is that of my more than several visits (lots of work being done) I never felt uncomfortable or ignored. The staff here takes great care in making sure you're ok. I've even come in twice for emergency situations and have been taken right in. I am very happy with my choice in dentists. read more

She fixed three fillings for me and not only was the work incredible, she was so thoughtful and considerate of my comfort throughout the (quick) appointment. Great location, decent service. The waiting room is plush and comfortable: thick chairs, expensive-looking rug, faux marble. More like a spa waiting room than a dentist's office. I went in for a teeth cleaning on a coworker's recommendation. I had to wait for a bit in the chair until my technician could come around. Then one of the dentists came by to finish the work. He must have seen how tense I was, because he clapped me on the shoulder. "Should I get you a shot of vodka?" he laughed. I would have told him I'm a whiskey man, but he was DIGGING A VIBRATING METAL INSTRUMENT INTO MY GUMS. Weird that I would have issues with that. But hey, he had a sense of humor. Filling out the new patient paperwork made me feel a little weird. I had to give them a credit card to keep on file in case the insurance didn't cover anything. Is that typical of dentists? They can't just send me a bill? Also, they took my photo with a webcam to attach to their online file. I suppose that helps with customer service ("what does this John P. look like again?"), but it was odd. Protip: it's easy to miss the elevator on your way in. Look for the elevator. Otherwise, you're walking up five flights of stairs to the dentist's office. If that's not a metaphor for Purgatory, write a better one. read more

I read the reviews before going here, and was cautious because it sounds like fraudulent billing activity, but decided to go with it anyways since I was having tooth pain, it was nearby and easy to get to, and they told me they were in network. When I called to set up an appointment, I thought it was a little suspicious that they told me that I had to pay everything out of pocket, and yet I asked if my insurance was in-network and they said yes. When I questioned it further, they said "Oh, no no - you pay out of pocket, then we'll send a claim to your insurance company and they'll reimburse you!" (Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? ...). They also save all your social security and credit card information and make you sign a waiver saying they can "charge it at any time", which is a little suspicious to me. I needed the appointment so I figured ok, sure. The appointment itself was about average. The people working the front desk didn't really have any clue what they were doing. The dental assistant took like 40 tries just to get an xray of one tooth... but the dentist himself was friendly and seemed knowledgable and trustworthy. After getting a wisdom tooth taken out, and it going very smoothly, I left feeling like the appointment was ok....until I received claim information. I paid $665 out of pocket but was expecting reasonable reimbursement. I get a letter from my insurance company about the processed claim, saying the patient (me) was responsible for only $200, and that they (my insurance company) "sent a check to the dentist on my behalf". Wait a minute - I ALREADY PAID THEM $665!! This check should go to ME, not them. I tried to call the dentist about them and the girl had no clue what she was talking about. She denied it first, then said oh wait, yes we did, we sent it back to them. Very sketchy. I called my insurance company and they gave me the actual story - supposedly the dentist "messed up the claim code" and had to reprocess it....sure.... Well, they finally reprocessed the claim, and are claiming since it was an "emergency appointment" (but schedule like multiple days in advance), that THAT doesn't count as in-network (whereas the prior claim they filed was a normal appointment and did). Thus, now I'm getting a small amount of money from my insurance company, but am responsible for the majority of that $665. Oh - and mind you, the work I had done was a 5-minute extraction of a wisdom tooth. I had previously had a filling on it that had fallen out, so only like half the tooth was there anyways, it was not impacted and was fully grown in and upright (I've had all my wisdom teeth for years now since they grew in fine). And that one extraction was charged $665. For ONE tooth. If I had researched wisdom tooth extraction before this, I would have easily known that that was WAY overpriced - even if my tooth had been impacted (which it was not). So for those below who argue this office is WAY overpriced - that is 100% accurate. Long story short: Know your insurance well, and call them to confirm ANYTHING before going here. DO NOT TRUST the people who work here or the dentist when he tries to convince you to get something done and says "Yes, so today you pay this, but really it'll be only this once your insurance covers this amount since it's in-network". They are out to get your money and honestly, I don't think the "accidental" wrong filing of the claim was truly an accident...my gut tells me they do this often and only send checks back if the patient actually catches the error. Me, I'd rather go somewhere I trust and don't feel like I have to be suspicious of fraudulent activity. Won't be returning here. I take my kids here and couldn't be happier. They treat them well, are super flexible and they are NOT suggesting crazy ortho or other procedures (like another boston dentist we went to) for my kids. They gave me honest opinions, with some future forecasting and suggestions to wait another year or two. The staff are all excellent from what I can see. They are also one of the few who take the Aetna DMO which covers me at 100% for most procedures. read more

I was initially quite pleased with this practice. The location is very convenient, the office is clean and the staff are nice. THEN, after retreating a root canal on Tuesday and initially feeling better by Thursday, Friday I had a sudden sharp pain in my mouth followed by a deep ache. I called the office and told them I was experiencing distressing symptoms. They took my number... and never called back. I called the office after hours and the message said to page the doctor. After googling how to page a number (seriously, why don't they have an after hours service, or an emergency text line or SOMETHING?), I paged multiple times. It's Sunday afternoon and I still haven't heard back. I'm calling my old dentist now. I do NOT recommend this practice. They may be fine for cleanings and routine care, but they're deeply unreliable. read more

COPLEY DENTAL ASSOCIATES SCAMMED ME AND SENT ME TO THE ER!! Sit down and grab some popcorn cause this one is a doozy. I scheduled an emergency appointment at Copley Dental Associates for an infected impacted wisdom tooth. (Bottom right tooth) I showed up at 2:00 (keep that time in mind) for my appointment. The man at the desk seemed friendly, and at first I didn't feel like this place was bad. However, I was called into the patient room and Dr. Badoui came in. Without even flashing a light into my mouth, he looked at my teeth for 1 minute (Not exaggerating) and quickly said I needed my TOP wisdom tooth taken out THAT DAY! I asked why, because it didn't make sense to me to have the top one taken out. It wasn't causing me pain. The main problem was the infection on my bottom tooth. I knew I needed antibiotics to clear up the infection. Except he had not even mentioned anything about the infection or antibiotics, he hadn't even taken any X-rays. He was trying to tell me that it was more important to get the top wisdom tooth out so that I "wouldn't bite down on my gum" BUT THE REASON WHY I WAS BITING ON MY GUM WAS BECAUSE IT WAS SWOLLEN FROM THE INFECTION!! He said that he would take out the top one first and then the next day take out the bottom one. He was giving me an attitude the entire time as I asked my questions, trying to make me feel like I didn't know anything. However, I grew up with family and friends as dentists and I knew there was something wrong here. I told him I was not going to get anything removed today and that I needed to go. He wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and I LEFT IN TEARS! The funniest part is that he charged me $200 for the a visit that was 20 MINUTES LONG! I was told they would email an itemized receipt to to send to my insurance company so I could be reimbursed BUT TO NO SURPRISE I haven't received any receipt, but only an email asking to leave a positive review. Anyways the appointment was so quick that I took the 2:40 train back home. I ended up having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics he had prescribed me and had to go to the ER. While I was there I told the doctor about my visit, and he said normally dentists wait until an infection is cleared up before performing oral surgery. If he had performed surgery on the infected tooth I could have came down with Sepsis. LONG STORY SHORT! This dental office is a scam and they are only out for the money. The dentists abuse their power by making their patients feel inferior and like they don't know best. This is how they scam you over. If I had let them take my teeth out I would've been overcharged $600 by the looks of the other reviews AND could've have even come down with sepsis. I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE to please! Trust your instincts and get other opinions. If a dentist is rushing you around and telling you that you need to get procedures done before they even take any X-rays THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. Copely Dental Associates is not to be trusted. I went here for a cleaning because my coworker suggested them and I'm new to the area. The dental hygienist was nice and appeared to have done an okay job. However, the dentist took one look at my teeth, without so much as shining a light in my mouth or tilting me backwards, and declared that I had a cavity that needed to be treated immediately. She said it was "quite deep". I was surprised at this because I have not had any cavities in the past 10 years because I take good care of my teeth. I decided to get a second opinion. I went to another dentist, who used a light (gasp!) and x-rays and even took macro pictures of my teeth to show me, that indeed, my teeth were cavity free. I have not written a review before in consideration of my coworker, but they continue to pester me by signing me up for automated reminder services that email or text me every week about visiting them. I unsubscribe but they keep coming. This is just part of the way they are creepy. When you go into the office, they immediately ask for your credit card information, and ask you to sign a form saying they can charge you. They also ask you to sign a form saying you received a notice of privacy practices, which they do NOT give you. I asked for the notice and they took 10 minutes to find a copy, which was badly copied with a huge smear streak in the middle so you can only read the 30% of the notice on each side of the streak. Seriously, this place gives me the creeps. read more

I was so angry after my visit today that I had to wait a few hours before writing this review. I left a voice message after hours hoping to come in for an emergency visit. I got a call early the next morning and was able to get an appointment for the same afternoon. Score! I was told the appointment would be $140 not including x-rays. I asked if they could simply bill my insurance (I chose them from a list of approved providers on my insurance company's website) and I was told I'd have to submit the bill for reimbursement myself. I also asked how much x-rays would cost and I was told $40. When I arrived, a patient was visibly upset with the woman at the front desk. I heard him say he didn't understand why he was being charged double what he had been originally told the service would cost. I assumed his situation was an exception, not the rule (I was wrong). The dental service was good. The woman who looked at my teeth was gentle and explained the situation well. Fast forward to paying the bill and I was told the visit was $140 and the x-ray was $175. Apparently normal x-rays are $40 but the one I was given is more expensive. I am furious because I wasn't given a choice or even told that a panoramic x-ray would be more than 4x the cost of a regular x-ray. Considering that they expect all patients to pay out of pocket during the visit, I feel like they chose the most expensive service possible simply to line their own pockets. Their website states that they are willing to bill insurance directly, but the woman at the front desk said they wouldn't do it for me and couldn't quite explain why. I'm scheduled to return for oral surgery but I told them I will be canceling my appointment unless they confirm my insurance coverage before the appointment. TL;DR? Good dentists, but they will overcharge you and lie about insurance coverage. Find another dentist. read more

The only upside was that they saw me in the middle of a snow storm under emergency circumstances because my veneer came loose. The cons... well the dentist tried to insist on preforming an unnecessary root canal during my emergency (and first... and last visit!). I finally insisted only on re-bonding of my veneer, which was preformed for 5x the standard rate (without insurance). So unbelievably overpriced!!! $175 just for the visit alone + whatever work you get done. I had a dental "emergency" and this was the first office I saw that was open. One of my veneers fell out and needed to be re-cemented. When I got there I was asked to fill out paperwork. There was ZERO mention of how much this would cost. Partly my fault for not asking, but I do have to admit I was a bit hysterical as I had a tooth missing. They did the work, took about 20 minutes, and then told me I owed $550. I was shocked. I went on a Sunday for an emergency visit. I needed a root canal through a crown. My pain was eased after the first visit, but there were many visits (and it probably should have taken only a couple of apppointments). My main complaint though is that Dr. Badoui gave me antibiotics which I took, then my very next visit he gave me another prescription for the same antibiotics. I let him know that I was feeling better and that I didn't think I needed them, but he insisted. I ended up getting C-Diff!! It is a very serious condition and could lead to death. As it is, I am prone to getting this condition again because I have had it once. DO NOT GO HERE! When I replied to their email about my next appointment that I got the C-Diff due to too much antibiotics they Never Even Responded to me! NEVER sent an email or lobbed out a phone call to make certain I was OK. Don't get me started on the prices they charge here. Not only did I have to go to my MD, get tested, get an additional prescription, I was out of work for 7 days. Lost a bunch of weight, and it took weeks before I finally felt good again. I cannot say enough good words about Copley dental associates. I was out of town and my mom who came from overseas had a dental emergency. They were able to get mom in the next day. She did not speak a word of English and they were still able to help her. Doctor immediately relieved her pain and was able to create a recommended path to recovery. I always had anxiety before and during dental appointments but not when I come here...it has always been a painless and pleasant experience, which is rare. I agree with the previous comment. They do fabulous work. I got my wisdom teeth out with them and they were very impacted. They did a wonderful job and I hardly had any swelling the next or very minor. It was truly a suberb job. My compliant comes with the billing. I got a few bills and thought it was quiet weird so I contacted by insurance agent. They said that they double billed me so basically they billed my insurance co and me with the same bill. It's called back billing and it's illegal. I think called the better business bureau for dentistry maybe it was the American Dental Association and what they told me was there were billing compliants of this same kind back about five years! Dr Bedoui has been my dentist since I was fifteen years old - he is very talented, pays extra attention to never cause pain and in addition is a great, friendly and kind human being. He really goes out of his way for his patients (comes in on holidays, late night calls). I no longer live in Boston, but still come back to him when I visit my family. This place is sketchy as hell and I would not encourage anyone to visit them, for the following reasons: (1) my cleaning was the most unpleasant and uncomfortable I have ever had; (2) the front office staff was rude and disinterested; (3) they require your full credit card number up front in writing (including the security code!) so they can store ALL of that data in their system, which was a major red flag and I believe may even violate the data security rules of the credit card companies; (4) I made a point of asking how much my cleaning would be, only for the front desk clerk to respond "Oh, it doesn't matter, you have insurance!" Yes it does matter, even if I do have insurance. When I pressed her, she told me $170, yet they billed $270 to my insurance provider. So either they don't know how much their own services cost, or just flat out lied and committed insurance fraud; (5) they kept trying to cajole me into getting X-rays despite my clear and express statement that I did not want them (because I didn't trust them after reading the other reviews here and getting creeped out by their sketchy office and other suspect behavior); (5) I specifically asked for a copy of their privacy policy, which they are legally required to make available, but they never complied, so I was forced to take their office copy; and (6) they use the email address they collect from you to send you spam about their dental practice, including encouraging you to write (positive) reviews here. Hah! I regret ever visiting them and will not be going back. Avoid this place like the plague. read more
