Best steak I have ever had!!!! Any steak I get anywhere else doesn't even compare. Definitely worth the money!

From the second my group of local best friends and foodies walked into Copper Canyon and were greeted by Angela (the most accommodating and lovely manager) and served by Lauren (the most helpful and honest server) we knew we were in for a treat! 5 stars! Copper Canyon used to be better going downhilll. 1) you cant substitute anything!!! I wanted a veggie over fries and they said no we only allocate enough vegtables for each dish???? are you kidding me? 2) Who ever that blonde lady is at the hostess stand is a f*cking b*tch! It had been awhile since we had dinner at CC, after tonight I remembered why. I can't remember the last time I have been treated so poorly. The staff was nothing but rude. We sat down and were told IMMEDIATELY to make our decision quickly because they have a time limit on the table-and we had not even ordered our drinks yet. When ordering my drink, I asked for a certain Tequila-but they could not change the margarita. Then when ordering, I asked for no bacon on my salad and he told me they do not make adjustments on the weekends-I asked for no bacon... are the salads pre-made?. The waiter flew around the restaurant, barely taking care of us, did not ask when we needed new drinks-we had to track him down. He had our table on edge the whole time because he could not wait to get rid of us. Too bad-the food is fantastic. But there are so many restaurants in the area that appreciate your business. We had a great experience for our first time at Copper Canyon "lounge"!!! My husband's NY strip steak ranked in the top 3 meals he has ever had... EVER! The margarita's were delicious and our service from Mackenzie was top notch! I ate the fish tacos - they were very good and since I have never had them before, can't compare to others. The lounge is the right spot for a laid back dining experience. If you are going to eat at copper canyon set your expectations, as the main dining room has a strict turnover time - so you may feel rushed. If you are not in a hurry - get a seat in the lounge and take your time over chips / salsa/ margaritas and conversation!! We will definitely go back, ask for Mackenzie! read more

Food is decent (often over spiced), but it is very pricey for what it is. Our server rushed us to order, and didn't know the menu and couldn't answer questions about the dishes. I was brought the wrong dish (shrimp tostada) and when I inquired if it was what I ordered (shrimp enchilada) they lied said it was. By far, my favorite steak in the area, hard to describe how good it is, just go try it and you will be a believer! I like the fact that they have their own beer brewed by Carton, local guys supporting local guys, good stuff. The guacamole with bacon is very tasty. I am low maintenance... i don't expect the owner to come fawn on me and i used to waitress and bartend so i guess I am empathetic to restaurants and how hard they all work. My go to restaurant for when I am hope with my family visiting for a special occasion. The staff is always friendly and attentive and the food and drinks are fantastic. The house margarita is always a favorite and the seasonal margarita is usually delicious as well. My family fights over the chips and guacamole. strongly suggest the following: shrimp risotto large plate, tuna taquitos small plate, warm brie (insanely delicious), flank steak large plate, taco sampler (if available), lamp chops small plate, any quesadilla option, scallop risotto large plate. cannot recommend enough the key lime pie dessert they have. love it. can't complain about all the tequila options as well. read more

Ok so I've been here more times then i can count. Like twice or more a month for the past two and a half years. I have to say up to about a year ago this place was untouchable in my books as far as restraunts go. Then...they had a change in manager. Now i know that one person cant make that much of a difference but going from one good manager to two ok is a big difference. Plus the new managers arent nearly as nice as the old. Lindsay was super friendly, to everyone not just the regulars. So what brought me to writing this is my past few times there. The food is always very tastey but how they cook it has been a recent problem. Steak is perfect one day and the next you cant get one any other way but well done. Other than that all servers are really nice and friendly considering me and my girlfriend have gotten to know them over time. However their are a few newer ones that arent so nice or cant get past the Spanish/English barrier. Tonight we had a man named Tony. When i tryed to explain that a fly landed in my Warm brie and ruined it before we got to finish it and he just looked at me a took that and are chips and salsa away without a sorry or anything. Another thing he was basicly hanging over us the whole dinner. If tonight was my first experience i would never think of going back. Espiecally with the price of dinner there. I love the place and i never mind spending the money for some good food but it seems that copper canyon is be heading down hill. read more

The food is absolutely delicious here! the guac, salsa, fish tacos are some of my favorites. The green salad is so spicy, I love it! But by far - the crabcake is phenomenal! It's made with large pieces of crabmeat - the best in the area. Highly recommend. Margaritas - bring them on! The drinks are a little on the pricey side, but fresh and worth it! read more

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had eaten there once before and the food was good, but my most recent experience was so bad (for many reasons) that I would never go there again. I made a reservation for the "dining room" a week in advance for my girlfriend's birthday. We arrived 15 minutes early and went to get a drink at the bar. We found a spot at the bar, and were told by the bar tender that she was "moving us to the other end". No clue why she needed to disrupt us or do this. When we were to be seated to eat we were told we would need to sit in the bar dining area, and we would need to be finished with dinner within 90 minutes. I reminded the hostess we were celebrating a birthday and that I had requested the dining room. Even with 3 tables open in the dining room she told us she could not seat us there. I requested to talk to the manager. The manager came out and told us of his "rules", that because we made the reservation at 7:45, we had to sit in the bar area...if we had made an 8:00 reservation we could have sat in the dining room. Why were we not told this upon booking? We then offered to wait until 8:00 to sit at one of the open tables in the dining room, to which the manager blatantly told us "No. Sorry, we simply can not help you". The bar area was freezing and the energy was terrible so we ended up deciding to leave after our drinks and find anywhere else to eat. As we walked out at 8:15 we looked into the dining area and saw that there were now 5 open tables. We ended up down the road at Undici where everyone was friendly, accommodating, and the food and atmosphere was amazing! Copper Canyon used to be a great place to eat...good food, but its one of those situations where they have let their heads get to them. They treat you like they are doing you a favor to be there. If you are looking for a relaxing, worry-free dining experience with a good atmosphere and friendly staff, Copper Canyon is not the place to go. There are many wonderful places to eat in Monmouth County, and this is not one of them. read more

Worst customer service experience in my life. Will not return. They have much to learn about making a customer feel welcome and friendly which they did not. Had a reservation at 6 pm and place was empty except for one table with 2 small noisy children. They sat us right next to this table when place was totally empty. Asked hostess to please sit us one or two tables away and she refused. Asked to see manager as he comes out and asked what is the problem. Told him real simple place is empty and would like another table. He said no would not move us and that was out assigned table take it or leave it. We should have know the experience was going to be bad from the start. My party had made a reservation over a week prior for five and one member was unable to make it, so instead of ambushing the hostess when we got there, we decided to call and let them know. Instead of being greatful, they told us they would maybe be able to fit us in at 7:45, over and hour after our initial reservation. After asking what would have happened if we had not called, they said they would have refused to sit us if our party was four not five. Finally, they called back and said that they could fit us in at 7. We arrived at the restaurant at around 6:55 and were not seated until 7:15, even thought there were two four tops open when we arrived, one of which stayed unoccupied the entire time my party was there. Once we were seated the service was very slow (was not the waiters fault, he had many more tables than he should of had) and the only thing that was somewhat decent about the experience was the food which was good, but not up to the usual standard. They refuse to seat you without all of the parties present - though we said we could order drinks and appetizers for the table as we knew what everyone wanted. They refused. At 20 minutes past our reservation time, our entire party was present and they said they would not seat us because of the "timing of the kitchen". On my brother-in-law's birthday, we drove an hour for the Copper Canyon steak to be told we could go to their other restaurant next door that served seafood. My sister-in-law and I have a lot of restaurant experience (managing, kitchen, hostess, and server) and were both flabbergasted at the inflexibility of this establishment. If you think the kitchen can't handle a 20 minute delay then you get in there, roll up your sleeves and you help them. You do not tell people to go have the tilapia next door. But they did, so we left and went to another restaurant nearby (not owned by them) and were seated immediately with exceptional customer service and food. I do not recommend you go here, the food is good but not worth their "soup nazi" mentality. Get off your high horse, Copper Canyon - it's more about enjoying the company of friends and family than the perfectly timed steak in the kitchen. read more

Very nice atmosphere at the restaurant. We were asked by the hostess about our reservation. She then asked us if we wanted to walk outside the restaurant to our table as opposed to walking through the restaurant to our table???? High dollar place treating its customers like crap. Then we sat down ordered drinks and appetizers including 12 dollar guacamole. Whatever that guacamole was made of didnt warrant 12 dollar price. Drinks were real good. However they started delivering our entrees 3 minutes after the appetizers were delivered. Did they ever hear of waiting for their guests to finish their servings before trying to put food on a already filled table. This occurred 3 times and i had to send it away 3x. Told the waiter, he thought it was funny and said he would speak to them. Never happened though. After this happening several times, they tried to bring the entree before we were ready. I asked for the check and told them I did not want their food, especially with the rush to get it out to us with a full table. Here is the best part. The manager Tony, comes over with a half hearted apology. Offers to buy us a round if i accept the food entrees. I told him We were both annoyed and wanted the check. He got all pissed off and stormed off to get the check. He returned with the check. The check showed that he had removed two entrees, but charged us an additional 9 dollars. We added it up for the drinks and food that we actually did eat. The guy then came back to debate it with us. I told him I gad just added it up on my phone calc app and it was 9 dollars less. What a scam. He came back with the corrected bill and apologized. Not so much accepting his apology a I had to prove his error to him. He also should dress like someone who is actually managing the place. For a very elegant place, We though the manager should not have jeans and a raggy looking shirt on. How about wearing some business attire and training the staff on seating serving and charging customers??? This place needs a management overhaul. read more

Made reservations for a large dinner party (13) several months in advance, I even went to the restaurant to meet w GM to look at table locations and discuss timing in person. Reservation was confirmed by phone several times up to one month before the event. One week before, I was called to say my reservation was at a totally different time than previously discussed and confirmed, and the owner, who I had talked to before, stated "we would never have accommodated a party of that size at that time". They were completely unwilling to work with us and resolve the issue. Very poor customer service which would make me never visit this establishment again. read more

We've been to Copper Canyon quite a few times and always leave wondering why we return...our bad. Traditionally, we arrive early as we did this evening..the restaurant was empty save 1 other table. Our waitress was lovely but that's where the decent service ended. Despite the fact that we were only a party of 2, the bus boy (or food runner) delivered our food flip flopped for each course. Each time we switched what was delivered. The food runner didn't ask; just delivered. Better trained servers know how to write a ticket and deliver food. In addition, be careful of the pace with which you order your food. If you order your app and main dish, you will be served before you can even finish your first cocktail. We've learned to order our app first and either order the main dish later ...or...languish over the appetizer so than the main course doesn't come out until we are ready. Once we finished our meals, the server scooped up our plate while we were both mid-chew. This happens all the time. As I mentioned earlier, this is our fault because we shouldn't return. The margaritas are good and the food is decent but we never get a chance to enjoy the meal. Everything is rushed rushed rushed; Completely opposite of Latino or European style dining...which is what I think they're trying to emulate here. read more

Once again we enjoyed a fabulous meal and celebrated my daughters 23rd birthday. All of us had the steak and it was incredible as always. Our new favorite is the pineapple guacamole and caesar salad. The food here is consistently good and we all enjoy it. Our favorite bartender Colleen made us the Across the Street Margaritas and they were excellent! Update as of 10/12/09: We gave into our impulses and have been back to Copper Canyon since my last update. However, during our visit last week, the service was impeccable. If you visit Copper Canyon, make sure that you request Mike Mack as your server. He is professional, welcoming, accommodating, and purely fantastic. He made our dining experience as wonderful as the food that they serve there and I was pleasantly surprised to have such a "wow" experience. I intend to ask for him each time we visit. He's advised that he works Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update: So we've been here several times since our last review and we've decided that the service is awful. If you don't say anything, the food comes out entirely too fast. If you tell the waitstaff to slow things down but keep things coming out continuously, you're waiting forever. On our last visit, there was a large party and we were a party of 4. We sat over empty dishes for about 10 minutes and then waited about 20 for the check. This is completely unacceptable in my mind. A customer should never sit over an empty/dirty plate for more than 5 minutes. I've also noticed that the waitstaff feels bothered by requests and can be kind of rude. If the food weren't so great, we wouldn't go back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wonderful food and chic atmosphere. My husband and I love Copper Canyon but seem to feel rushed when we are there. I don't mind paying good money for good food (which Copper Canyon has) and good drink (which Coppper Canyon has), but if you are paying those kinds of prices is it really necessary to charge for chips and salsa?? And then to also charge for a refill?!?!?! We ordered other food as well, so it was not as if we were there just to fill up on the chips. Also, on top that, there were 5 of us drinking $10 - $15 Margaritas, and we each had 3 - but when someone in our group reqeusted a club soda, the bartender charged us for the club soda!!! I have been to Copper Canyon one and a half times. The first time, the food was amazing as were the margaritas & service. The 2nd time... I would not be able to say since they refused to seat us. We didn't make it past the hostess. They have a rule that you need a minimum of 4 people to make a reservation. I've heard of this before. Nothing new there.. One of our friends bowed out at the last minute. We figured we'd give it a shot anyways. We get to the restaurant and the hostess greets us with a smile until we tell her we will only be a party of 3. Her expression soured immediately. She goes inside for 2 minutes, comes back out, and in a curt tone says, "Sorry we will not be seating you tonight. We do not seat incomplete parties" We were so surprised by this hostess' attitude and her refusal to accommodate our party that we left. I don't get it. Even if that is their policy, they did nit have to be so rude about it. My dreams of drowning my 9-5 sorrows with a tasty margarita were promptly dashed. Can not believe the way I was treated by the hostess this evening. I had a reservation to which I was running late for. I called and let them know I was 15 minutes away and stuck in traffic. I walked in the door 20 minutes after my reservation behind another couple. the other couple did not have a reservation but she seemed to know them. She gave my table away right in front of me! I eat there all the time and am furious! She spoke down to me and was happy when I said I was leaving. I would have been better off to not have a reservation since she gave walk ins in front of people with reservations. I would give this restaurant less than a star if I could. Terrible Mexican food at an expensive price. The guacamole was 15.00 and it was very bland and below average. If I can make Mexican food better at home than why bother going here. The quesadillas were 19.00 and horrible. I ate better ones at Chiles. Also, the chips and salsa, sour cream was extra. I never paid for these at any other restaurant. I don't mind spending money if it's good food. This place thinks it's an upper class restaurant . In reality, it's just bad expensive food. read more
