We came here for a New Years Eve dinner and we were very pleased with the food. The restaurant is on a similar level to some of the finer steakhouses that I used to frequent in Chicago and the atmosphere was great. While it is certainly on the fancier side, I didn't feel out of place in jeans and a polo. We ordered an item that was special for New Years Eve--the tomahawk steak--and I wish I had taken photos, but we devoured it before we could whip out our phones. We even brought the enormous beef bone home to our Dachshund. The side dishes were as amazing as the steak. We opted for truffle cream potatoes. I don't use the term "mouth-watering" very often, but they were literally that awesome. They had some really creative drinks, some I loved, some were a bit too bizarre for me--like the jalapeño cactus martini. The desserts are large enough to serve two people, especially after the large entree. We had a good time here and look forward to coming back. Side note: That evening, they also offered a pork shank as an entree. And although I'm so happy to have had the tomahawk steak, I can't help but wonder how amazing that shank must have tasted. read more

I'm tempted to give this place 1 star, but the service was always adequate, and the decor was pleasant enough. In terms of food quality, service, and atmosphere there are other places in town that are at least as good if not better. I'd hesitate to call this place "fancy". It seems to benefit among some by having a certain kind of pretentious cachet. With that said... The 3rd or 4th and final time I dined here was in December of 2006, with other family members who were in town from around the country for the holidays. I felt like having something simple and so decided to give their po-boy sandwich a try, but didn't want the sauce that came on it. What I got was a dry half-loaf of baguette-style bread split through, with 6 average-sized fried shrimp placed in between them. For those two things, they charged over $12. Price itself was not the issue, but the quality in relation to the price is. This seemed disgustingly obscene, even borderline contemptuous. I could literally just as soon have had something more satisfying and of equal or better quality from Long John Silver's for less than 1/3 the cost of what Copper Creek had the conceit to charge. This meal was supposed to be a happy occasion and I didn't tarnish it by making it an issue, although in retrospect I should have. My food on previous occasions had been better than this, but the main reason for my low rating is something I can't be specific about for legal reasons. I can only be somewhat vague and say that what ended up happening to me and several other family members as a result of our having dined here that day ruined the last Christmas our family spent together before my grandfather died, for everyone. We haven't dined here since, and I find it at least a little disturbing that they're still in business. read more

During a work trip to Abilene, I was ready to get my fill of steak and barbecue. I let my coworkers recommend where we go and one day it was to Copper Creek for lunch. It was a great lunch, but dinner sized portions. I can't imagine how much food you get at dinner. I ordered the tenderloin tip steak. This could have been bacon wrapped goodness if they didn't overcook it. One of my coworkers ordered hers well done while I ordered medium. I asked her to cut hers and show it to me because I thought I had hers. Apparently here medium means no pink whatsoever. Disappointing because it was okay, but would have been amazing if it was cooked to medium. If you want a medium, I recommend ordering rare. The asparagus were cooked perfectly and tasted slightly like grill. I'd come back just for the asparagus. Our server was attentive and very friendly. Based on the other places we went to in Abilene, this seems like a best choice for a decent meal. read more

Try #2. The first time I went here it wasn't so good. Last night I think my fabulous company made the experience better but I still can't raise them any stars. When we walked in no one helped us. The bartender happened to come over and brought us to our seats. Our waiter ended up being very nice though. He suggested some great wines to go with our food. The Riesling from Messina Hof was yum! The special was a sea bass with prickly pear sauce, wild rice, and spinach. I got that hoping to be wowed. But seriously it did not have much flavor. The three little butterfly shrimp that came on top were cute but tasted like Van DeKamps from the freezer section of the grocery store. I couldn't even detect any flavor in the prickly pear sauce. It was pretty to look at and I ate almost all of the fish but it could have been so much better. I don't know why their food falls short in my opinion. I just don't know. read more

When you are in desperate need of fine dining in the Abilene area, your quest is somewhat impossible. In the land of chain restaurants and fast food and poor service, it is refreshing to stumble across an establishment such as Copper Creek restaurant, abilene. The decor is typical of a rustic country do with a splash of snobbish posh. .. it is cute but almost fake to be carded when you are almost 40 years of age, but better safe than sorry. The menu is varied but still in the Southern style which allows the whole theme to continue. The dishes are deliciously cooked ( i recommend the salmon, though it probably be best to order a great steak instead). The risotto felt more like a lumpy mashed potato (hence my 4 stars review). I have not been to the establishment bar but, i have heard nothing but positive reviews.. The wine is a bit pricey as well as the overall pricing of the menu... but l, after all, it is FINE DINING... one cannot expect a Chili's check at the end of it all.... It is perfect for a romantic dinner if you want to impress your date (my first time there) as well as when your bring your family who came visiting (my second Copper Creek experience). read more

Wonderful service for a group of around 25 people. The food came out quickly and all together. Service was friendly and exceptional! The food was very good. My husband was actually off early from work last night, so we decided to head to Copper Creek for dinner. We had been wanting to try it, and because they are closed on Sundays, we never get much of a chance. We were seated promptly and our waitress was extremely kind and seemed to genuinely care that we had a good dinner. We ordered the Spanish Onion rings and they were very good. It came with a warmed BBQ sauce on the side (a bit odd, but it worked). They were slightly spicy and very tasty! My husband ordered the Citrus Glazed Redfish and absolutely loved it. Flaky and served with wilted spinach and wild rice. I tried and bite that thought it was awful, but that is only because I am a very, very, very picky meat/fish eater. I don't eat a lot of meat, and this is what this place is famous for. I settled for the Spinach Salad with a side of their grilled asparagus. That salad was the best salad I have ever had. It was simple: spinach, feta cheese, balsamic vigererrette, red onions and candied pecans. The ratio of everything was well balanced and the salad was mixed with the dressing and most likely had the chance to marinade before it was served. Perfect and I cannot wait to have it again! The grilled asparagus failed me because it tasted like steak (steak makes me want to bard). The texture was perfect, crisp/tender but I couldn't eat more than a few bites. My husband said anybody else would LOVE it tasting like steak, and I cannot disagree with that. I didn't want to send it back because it wasn't their fault am just very picky. Next time I will try a different side or request it not be grilled near steak/on the same grill. All in all, a very good dining experience and we will be back! read more

He ordered the ribeye, medium rare, & it came out medium-ish. I tried a bite, & it was a bit gristly. Maybe he just got a bad cut. We also had to ask for more water. If you want some really good drinks and a nice atmosphere, inside or out, this is a nice place to go. Especially during the spring or fall as I really like the patio. The food is a little high and I don't think it is any better than a Santa Fe or Texas Roadhouse. I wasn't a fan tho as soon as I got to the front door and seen the "No concealed weapons permitted on site, subject to a $10,000 fine" or something. The atmosphere is great, very laid back. I had a Smoked Jalapeño Margarita, the smoke flavor was a little overwhelming but good. We ordered the Calamari and Cactus, in the menu it is fried but we had it sautéed instead, the Calamari was cooked PERFECTLY!!! And the cactus gave it a great additional Flavor. For an Entree I highly recommend the Grilled Mahi with the lemon garlic sauce with sautéed spinach and shrimp and as a side the Grilled Zucchini. This was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Our server Laura was very attentive and welcoming. read more

I dined at CC this past Saturday night with a large group of extended family in town for our family reunion. The service was really good considering the size of our group. My only complaint in that department would be that it took over 30 minutes to get my Bloody Mary from the bar and when it did arrive (after I inquired about it) it was watered down and not good. I'm sure it had been sitting at the bar that whole time. I had the grilled Caesar salad and it was delicious. For my entree I made the mistake of ordering the filet and crab Oscar instead of just the filet. The description indicated the steak would be accompanied by lump crab and asparagus in a "light butter sauce". There was nothing light about it. It was thick, orange and had a slimy texture. My whole plate was completely covered it it. I was completely turned off by the look of it and I should have sent it back. I decided to try to scrape around and eat it anyway. It was pointless though because the sauce was just so thick and there was so much of it. I only are few bites of the steak and I could tell it would've been really good if not for the vile sauce. Overall, there were some good things and most of my family members enjoyed their meals, but I would not go back. For spending $140 for myself, my teenage son and my 10 year old son, my socks should've been knocked off....and they were not. read more

Nicely decorated restaurant. Had creek cheese burger/fries. Wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, but was juicy. Flavor was decent. Also had the salmon stuffed mushrooms, to much smokey flavor. Not a fan. Not sure what the 'gravy' was but it had a spice to it. Used the free dessert coupon from Yelp. Got the apple crumb pie. Mini pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Pie was room temp. Yummy but a tad pricey! We ordered dinner for two take out. The portions were decent and the food was good. We had the ten ounce fillet and it had a nice mesquite smoke to it that was great. They included bread, butter and all the needed plastic ware to enjoy our dinner at the hotel. There were no side choices that I was made aware of, but a standard asparagus and mashed potatoes. A side salad was not included with the steak, which was a bit of a bummer. All in all a yummy meal! read more

Came here Christmas Eve 2017. Had a great dinner & service. So we returned this year, 2019, party of 5. Had reservations. Great disappointment this year. They served 2 rolls for a table of 5, & 1 bottle of water which was empty most the meal. We asked for more bread.l & water. Ordered our dinners & was served the Lobster Bisque still without receiving any more bread. Then dinner came. We all ordered filet steaks, all of which were over done & not hot. The mash potatoes were cold & hard as a rock. I think they were put on the plates a week early to look pretty lol. We did request hot mash potatoes that were brought out promptly. They were in a bowl instead of a plate. Not as pretty as the others but nice hot & creamy. We'd rather have edible potatoes lol. Spinach & lobster bisque was good. But overall dinner was a complete failure. We had recommended this restaurant before but not anymore. We won't be going back there. Way too pricey for the dinner we received especially on Christmas Eve read more

I'd actually say between 3.5-4, but I'm feeling generous. Our bruschetta appetizer started the meal off on a bad note. It resembles thick cut lunch roast beef on a fried tortilla with some toppings on the side. The tortilla was so big and the meat was overcooked and tough. There was about 2tbs of each topping in the middle of the plate and you had to construct the "bruschetta" yourself. We sent it back and they did take it off our bill. Our server was overworked and we didn't see her much. My first steak was overcooked. Had to get a second one. It was right the second time and seasoned well. The smashed fried okra was good. Got a chimichanga cheesecake for desert and it was not that good. I think it was frozen. The atmosphere was nice, but the prices were high. I'd go back, but I'd prefer to go to Perini ranch. read more
