I'd actually say between 3.5-4, but I'm feeling generous. Our bruschetta appetizer started the meal off on a bad note. It resembles thick cut lunch roast beef on a fried tortilla with some toppings on the side. The tortilla was so big and the meat was overcooked and tough. There was about 2tbs of each topping in the middle of the plate and you had to construct the "bruschetta" yourself. We sent it back and they did take it off our bill. Our server was overworked and we didn't see her much. My first steak was overcooked. Had to get a second one. It was right the second time and seasoned well. The smashed fried okra was good. Got a chimichanga cheesecake for desert and it was not that good. I think it was frozen. The atmosphere was nice, but the prices were high. Have eaten here many times--drinks, appetizers, large meals. Food is almost always excellent from stem to stern. My one complaint is that they do not serve red wine properly. Save your time and money, and DO NOT eat at Copper Creek. This restaurant touts a reputation for being a higher-end steakhouse in an otherwise small town of throw-your-peanut-shells-on-the-floor establishments, but believe me, it is coasting on its name alone. My fiance and I came here for a date night shortly after moving to Abilene, and we were less than impressed to say the least. We experienced long periods of waiting from a less-than-attentive server, and after ordering drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert, only the appetizers came out correctly. The rest of our meal was either late, improperly prepared or the wrong item altogether. By the time we received our entrees, we asked for the check and a To Go box and canceled our dessert order. It was only after we'd left that we realized our two entrees were still sitting on the table, practically untouched, and we both agreed it wasn't worth going back for them. The food was *that* mediocre, and the only consistent quality was that everything was overpriced. Honestly, if you're looking for ambiance, try another restaurant, and if you're looking for a decent steak, you're better off going to a peanut-shells-on-the-floor steakhouse and ordering a decent filet mignon. We recently held a business dinner for 16 people at Copper Creek. Everything about the reservation process, facility, food quality, and customer service was spectacular. They sat our party in a semi-private area behind the fireplace which was perfect for our group. Our server Mitch was fantastic and provided excellent recommendations and prompt service. My husband and I had a late lunch here today around 1:30. It was not busy and we were glad because we were starving. Our waiter, Francisco, apparently forgot we were there immediately after he took our order because he was AWOL after that except for bringing our food and check. The food, however, was excellent. We had the salmon stuffed mushrooms, beef medallions, chop steak and the almond caramel ice cream for dessert. I said we were starving! I made a reservation well in advance for my daughter's graduation dinner in their private area as I had seen the ratings reflecting a 5 start, plus I had been here twice for company luncheons. Graduation ended earlier than anticipated. With this being a 5 start their should always be some anticipation for the unexpected especially during graduation weekend where you have 3 high schools graduations (many ppl in town). I had several conversations with the manager regarding time as I really was not for sure what to expect as this was my first graduation in Abilene. I had made my reservation for 5 pm as I was informed it would be about 3 hours. I called and spoke to the manager stating that graduation ended earlier than anticipated and wanted to know if we could come in prior to 5 which he confirmed would be ok. My family arrived between 4:30 and 4:45. I had requested 2 appetizers, one on each table but ended up with a total of 4 due to the number of family members, which were not cheep. The food was good, however some came out cold. What I would like to emphasize is the service was the worst for a 5 start rating and mind you my family and I spent quite a bit of money on food. The private room accommodates 30 ppl and we had 28. I still gave a full 15% minimum. We had no servers designated for the private room, we had to wait long periods of time to only have to ask for refills on drinks. Then having to wait to place our orders. It took about 30 minutes it seemed for everyone to get their tickets long after we completed our meals, then took about another 30 before we received our cc back due to an issue where all tickets were applied military discount in error. So we waited and waited until all but one ticket was reversed to apply the 10% (this we found out after a family member asked what was taking soooo long). If an error was made then take accountability but don't make guest wait and wait to correct the issue as we all stand around waiting and wondering where are cc are and wondering what the hold up is. I had family members who were driving back 3 hours. Last but not least it was upsetting to here some excuses and then state you had 4 years to correct the mistakes that were made for my next daughter's graduation. I will not be making any reservations in the next 4 years. This was a HUGE disappointment as I ranted to my family about the restaurant. read more

I still give this place a 5! My husband and I decided to go here for lunch on day and they didn't let us down. We had to order the crab cakes as an appetizer. Yums! Then my husband ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and I ordered the Cowboy sandwich (basically a club sandwich, but not your basic club sandwich (if that makes any sense). My recent visit here was very disappointing. Stuffed chicken was dry, potatoes Au gratin was not done, and grilled Caesar salad, normally my favorite, was lacking the shaved Parmesan and tasteless. Stopped by on my first week in town thinking it was a routine Mexican restaurant. Very surprised to realize it was an upscale restaurant with an excellent chef. Very pleased wtih my young waiter who was sweet and attentive and did a great job. I had soup and salad but wow it was good. Lobster Bisque which I expected to be canned, was fresh tasting with chunks of Lobster in a tomato cream sauce. Expertly seasoned. The huge salad had butterflied shrimp, also expertly prepared, crunchy and as tasteful as anything from my Louisiana home, with a large avocado and other veggies. We went to copper creek recently. The food was fantastic, I enjoyed a rib eye steak which was cooked perfectly. (Most chefs will over cook a rare steak). My wife's mahi was delicious and seasoned very well. Food is delicious and definitely reason to come back to Copper Creek. However, our waiter was very aloof and inattentive. I had to ask multiple times for water to be refilled, and other things that should be automatic. It was slightly disappointing to be honest. Food A+. Service C-. I will come back again as the food is worth it, but there are most definitely things that Copper Creek needs to work on in the front of house aspect to waiting. read more

It's fine. The food is good and presented nicely but nothing extremely memorable about the steak or stuffed chicken. I wouldn't go back unless someone really wanted to go and I was just coming along. Comparable food at the nicer chain steakhouses for less money. Wait staff was nice but had to be asked for specials and didn't have an explanation for some of the items on the menu. I was expecting a much higher end establishment, based on reviews, without a screaming 1 year old at the table next to me.
