Ate here for the first time yesterday for lunch. Wasn't sure what to expect but man, i got the Shrimp Po Boy and it was one of the best if not the best one I've ever had! This was my first time to Coppermine Mill Grill. It's located in a remote location. It's a hole in the wall. The food is excellent! Whether you want a delicious bloomin onion, a shrimp platter, or a nice salad. You won't be disappointed. I didn't try the cheesecake; however, I heard many patrons commenting on how delicious the cheesecake. The pricing is everything quite reasonable. The service is too notch. The young man was extremely polite. He made wonderful recommendations and was constantly refilling our drinks. It you go on Friday night? You'd better go early; otherwise, you could be waiting for a table. I will definitely be returning to Coppermine Mill Grill the next time U am in town. read more

Visited Copper Mine Grill on a rainy Saturday afternoon as part of a drive through the mountains. I rushed in out of the rain and waited to be acknowledged. Multiple workers walked past and saw me standing at the register and, despite it not being busy, none offered a greeting. Eventually a gentleman came over and bruskly took my order. Two hot dogs, mac and cheese bites, and onion rings. I sat and waited for the food to be ready. As someone else mentioned, none of the staff (front or back of house) were wearing masks. Obviously not a disqualifier but not a great look in the midst of a pandemic. Food was good. Hot dog a split and then friend which is a preparation that I generally like. Chili and slaw were nice. One of the hot dogs was supposed to only have chili and mustard but both had slaw. Onion rings and mac and cheese bites seemed like the standard frozen then fried sides you could get anywhere. Not bad though. I probably won't return to Copper Mine Grill. read more

This place is amazing. We live in Charlotte but have a cabin in Jefferson and have driven back here for dinner a second time on a trip it was so good. I am baffled by the negative reviews as everything we have ordered was fresh, homemade, and delicious. The seasonal salad with goat cheese and heirloom apple, the homemade meatloaf, fresh dinner rolls, and shrimp were all standouts. Try the chocolate truffles. Divine. read more

Stopped in by chance when we couldn't hold out for food any longer when driving a segment of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It really does feel like pretty much the middle of nowhere! Great little diner. I had the huge 8 ounce burger and onion rings. Both were really tasty and fresh. My companion had the pulled pork which came with sauce on the side and fries. The fries seemed a little sad both in quantity and freshness but still edible. Weirdly they had no diet cola of any kind. But the fresh brewed iced tea was great. We have eaten at Copper Mine for years. Today we went for lunch and decided after our experience today, we will not be eating here any longer. We had to go up to the counter to ask for a refill, the waitress did not even check on us until we were finished with our lunch. Then since we had a party of FOUR they automatically added a tip of over $10.00 to our ticket. I guess since they automatically add the tip, the waitress doesn't have to work for it anymore. Food nor service was anything like we have had there over the past several years. They no longer give you a ticket at your table, you just have to wait until you are leaving out and the ASK for a receipt. We will not be dining here in the future. read more

We came with a large group. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. Service was great and she stayed on top of refills, etc. The pickles were some of the best I've ever had. The special for appetizers was pork bbq sliders and they looked like they came from a fancy restaurant. Much better than what I expected! Prices were very reasonable. This meal would have been three times as much where we live. Most of our table got the grilled chicken which is good, some had beef tips, or hamburger steak. What a gem! Visiting family in the area. Real food, ( ie not food service frozen) Our table started with the onion bloom and Brussel sprouts for appetizer. Both were excellent. The onion was nice and crisp and the dipping sauce had just the right kind of spice. The sprouts were nice and crispy and equally amazing. In our party of three, one had the pork tenderloin with pomegranate sauce special, and two of us had the filet special, one medium well and one medium rare, both cooked to perfection. A small cafe with a little bit of everything. A group of 4 diners stopped by on a cloudy summer afternoon. The special was country style steak with milk gravy & 2 sides. 2 of us got the special & enjoyed it! The steak was the classic southern treat...crispy & tender cube steak with a nice comforting white milk gravy. Mashed potatoes were likely instant which is ok. The fried okra was very good. My son had a split hotdog cooked on a flat top grill. He said it was very good & he just so happens to have extensive experience eating hotdogs. I ordered the chicken tenders. Good, but not great. Not sure if these tenders were homemade, the flavor was good, but a bit greasy. The fries were very good...lightly browned, but crisp & tasty. As noted earlier, the okra was very good. Dessert stole the show with a slice of orange blossom cake & strawberry shortcake. The orange blossom cake tasted like a layered pound cake with a rich cream cheese icing. The top had an orange zest. The sides were covered in what tasted like orange flavored white chocolate shavings. I loved it!!! The strawberry shortcake was huge & in place of the whip cream they used soft serve vanilla ice cream. Nice touch! I would recommend this restaurant which is much like a southern diner. Good was delicious. We had The White lightening BBQ. Green beans nicely seasoned and good coleslaw. Excellent service. It is a grill so nothing fancy at all. Would recommend it but a bit out of the way if you have time for a nice winding road country drive. read more

Found this place on vacation. Ate twice. First night was great. Delicious food and excellent service. The next night had quite a wait. The food was good but terrible service. Had an older white haired lady who brought the food and disappeared. Never got any drink refills, and never checked to see how the food was, she never even brought a bill. We could have just walked out for all she cared. Would definitely go back but would make sure to get another waitress. read more

This little place is out of the way for sure. They came recommend by a business in town! Actually another restaurant which is surprising but they shared good places to eat with us saying they eat here too.. easy to drive right on by. Food was great. We have been going to Mill's Stop and Shop Cafe for several years and never have had a bad meal there. We enjoy their breakfast and when we have visitors we always take them to Mills for breakfast and they always want to go back the next visit. My wife is very picky about how her eggs are scrambled and Mill's gets it right for her every time. The servers are a hoot. We love to joke with them and they treat us like family. Great home cooked style food at reasonable prices served up by friendly, caring servers. Way to go Mills! read more

Well let's see where to begin. Arrived and had a brief wait which was expected then seated. Drink orders were placed and I thought we might as well go ahead and order before it got really crowded. Ordered the large shrimp fried with fries and mixed vegetables, before the waitress left she asked if I wanted any bread , hush puppies ,Texas toast etc , I said Texas toast please. After about a 20 minute wait the food arrived minus the fries and toast. Asked if I could get some ranch and the reply was " Sure !!" She stated that the fries would be out shortly but they never arrived. Well that was the last that I would see of the waitress for a LONG time. She never came back to see if I needed a drink refill or anything. Finally flagged her down to get the check and a small Togo box. She seemed really pissed about the situation. Got to the check out and she had given me the wrong bill. Gee who would have thought that. The food was just ok. The shrimp was more like Seapak popcorn shrimp than anything, the veggies were the best part of the meal. Bottom line , I'm sure that this might be a good breakfast joint ( because it's pretty hard to screw that up ) but I damn sure wouldn't go out of my way to get there. read more

My husband and I visited the Copper Mine Grill on Saturday evening, 10/17/2020. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The table spacing between patrons was according to state COVID guidelines as far as we could tell. My husband and I were wearing masks as we entered and exited the restaurant. We did notice that most patrons were not wearing masks and that absolutely NONE OF THE RESTAURANT STAFF WERE WEARING MASKS. All other restaurants we go to at least the staff are required to wear masks per state guidelines. Does this particular restaurant have a waiver that says they don't have too?! (Will have to check with the health Department about that). Food was mediocre and small portions for the prices charged. My husband ordered the fish plate with flounder and oysters- he got 4 oysters and one very small piece of fried flounder for $14.99. I got the beef tips and shrimp for $15.99-again the portions were very small for the price. This looked more like lunch portions instead of dinner. They served our food after 20 minutes and we then had to wait another 5 minutes to get utensils to eat our food with. We never received our ticket to pay and had to go to the register ourselves to ask for it. This place has a lot of improvements to make on many levels. We definitely won't go out of our way again or recommend that anyone else does either. read more
