The polarizing reviews kind of scared us away from doing a whole dinner experience here so I'm glad we went to just the happy hour. BF and I stayed at the Landoll's Mohican castle for one night and stopped by here at around 3ish for their happy hour. It's pretty annoying that their happy hour is 3-4pm instead of a 4 or 5 but there are very limited options around here. Anyways, the menu online does not match what they currently have so I wish they would update! Thankfully I don't have any dietary restrictions or allergies, only strong preferences so the subs weren't dealbreakers. We ordered 4 things off the menu and the wings were the best. Small but perfectly crispy and already seasoned even before the sauce! I got 2 different sauces on the side to try and the garlic one was better than the ginger soy one. The French onion soup had the bread INSIDE the soup which took up a lot of real estate and soaked up all the broth. The melted cheese on top like a Kraft single instead of provolone. The shoestring fries were so skinny and tiny. The bier cheese was good and creamy but there were no chives and I had to ask for them even though that was in their description. Portions were small, prices were average but we still enjoyed our meal very much due to the intimate setting and library-like atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and helpful!

We were excited to stop and have brunch here based on the story of the place. And to get a glimpse of the castle. Food was good, and the place was woodland cozy. Was not too busy but we did make a reservation. The day we visited they were short staffed in the kitchen but they shared that going in. And the wait staff was awesome. Super sweet and very attentive. I would stop back by if in the area.

    Dinner Menu - Aug 2025

Nice atmosphere with a unique and inspiring backstory. Servers are all friendly. Some menu items were better than others, but their signature jam is hard to beat. Dinner menu does not offer or apparently allow some of the more appealing lunch menu items so I did snap a photo of the dinner menu to others to be better prepared.

Complementary bread, blueberry, jam, and butter, which was quite tasty

Restaurant doesn't fit the ambience of the castle. It's like eating in a dark pub. Menu selection is decent service was spot on Value. It's a little overpriced. The lasagna was horrible.

I enjoyed the ribeye steak and jalapeño au gratin potatoes. My boyfriend ate all of the blackened salmon with mashed potatoes! The rolls come with a homemade blueberry jam that is delicious. The restaurant is a bit dark inside but the service was good and we would both go back.

Wow! Located on the property of Landoll's Mohican Castle, is this fabulous restaurant every foodie needs to visit. Unique cocktails, you will want two. Enjoyed the Johnny Appleseed! Having never been here before, wasn't sure what to expect. Exceeded expectations! The stuffed mushrooms were delicious too, and cooked perfectly. For my main meal, I ate the famous short ribs. So tender! The homemade bread is so good and blueberry preserves complimented the meal. My spouse also really enjoyed their meal. Even if you don't have room for dessert, get it anyway. Many good choices on the dessert menu. I had the cherry pie, and could tell it was a homemade crust. All the food, including the desserts, are made from scratch. They really know what they are doing here in the kitchen! The staff was helpful, nice, attentive, and answered all of our questions. Top notch customer service!

Mediocre is being nice I heard another server talking about biscuits, our server never brought them or mentioned them. We had to ask someone else for them One of the meals, we didn't like - they did nothing about it. It was schnitzel / it was also suppose to come with brussel sprouts and it didn't. When we asked about it, they said they would make. We were totally done eating and never got them. We finally asked for the check and told them to forget the sprouts - I was not happy to say they leastv The short ribs were good This is definitely a ONE AND DONE for us

The Copper Mug is located on Mohican Castle grounds and is the most convenient dining if you're staying in one of their rooms or cottages. This was our second annual Landoll's stay and we were very much looking forward to dining at the Copper Mug again. First off, the staff is super friendly and we had the pleasure of being served by Roger who was not only a terrific server but an absolute sweetheart. Secondly their fall cocktail menu offerings are so enticing I had to order one of each and none of them were disappointing. The Spiced Pear was my favorite, it was light and delicious. The Caramel Apple Martini was a close second but it's more on the heavy side and closer to a dessert than a light cocktail. If you're going to order an appetizer, go with the stuffed mushrooms. We had them during our first stay last year and they were so memorable and delicious we couldn't wait to order them again this time around. I personally had the short ribs with a side of lobster mac and cheese. I wasn't blown away by any means by the short ribs and I could barely tell there was any lobster in my Mac and cheese. I would suggest ordering something different. My friend had the schnitzel and was very pleased. They also give you complimentary bread with butter and their signature jam and those are also delicious. After our meal we were stuffed, puffed and happy.

Love the Copper top ! We are locals and frequent often. They not only have amazing food and service, but they accommodate people with food allergies, like myself. Gluten free bread and other items are always available. Must try for lunch or dinner

Elevated breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurant nestled in the windy hills of Ohio Amish Country! Enjoy the scenic views as you make your way to The Cooper Mug Bar and Grille within Landolls Mohican Castle. We went for a mid-day lunch with friends after making a quick reservation on Yelp. We were quickly seated on the outside patio. The food was absolutely delicious and an appropriate portion size, except for the Chicken Filet sandwich. It was enormous, but made for great leftovers! We would absolutely recommend the Lobster Bisque, Bier Cheese Fries, Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Chicken Filet sandwich. However, when we return, and we will return when we're in the area, I'll be ordering the French Onion Soup again, trying the bruschetta and the cheese curds as we found out after, those are highly recommended!

Castle short ribs are fantastic!! Sides of mash potatoes and carrots were okay. Menu is pretty limited, I was bummed there were no appetizers that appealed to me. Our waitress was great and the cocktails were very good as well. The castle blueberry Jam that comes with bread is 10/10. We bought a jar to take home.

Stopped in for lunch with my wife on Wednesday 10 January as we were staying at the Mohican Lodge. We were the only table during our visit. We ordered adult beverages while reviewing the menu. I was happy that my Manhattan was very tasty as was my wife's whisky sour. We ordered a Caesar Salad and French Dip to split and I ordered their French Onion Soup as well. We asked that it all come out at once, it did not! Our Caesar Salad arrived and it didn't look like a Caesar at all. When our server returned, we asked him about it and found out it was actually their Signature Salad. He apologized, took it, and returned quickly with a Caesar Salad. We thanked him and marveled that there was no Romaine Lettuce on it and it was just a spring mix. Regretfully the spring mix isn't good for my wife with her digestive issues. The French Onion Soup was absolutely delicious!! The best part of our meal! The French Dip was good, but the shoestring fries were soggy! It is in the middle of nowhere, but we were hoping for the best!

We stayed at the Mohican castle for two nights and our first room was decent but when we went to the restaurant (The Copper Mug) we just ordered appetizers which were mediocre at best the servers are very friendly, however to say that the second night and second room were unpleasant would be an understatement the rooms hot water tank barely worked and then when we went to dinner we got an igloo which did not zip fully and the heater didn't work and when I got my "ribeye" which was clearly a strip steak they put it on top of my fries which made the fries soggy

We came for our 30th anniversary trip and since we had chicken cordon bleu at our wedding we thought we'd get it in panini form. Delicious! The cheese penne is some of the best I've had. The owner was so happy to share her story when asked. As a tip to future customers, if you don't like tomato or pepper as garnish, please consider telling them so they don't end up throwing it out. The food is delicious and authentically French. Service is super friendly and attentive. Prices are very fair. Lunch was so good we're going back tonight for dinner - twice in the same day. I could make a joke about this being the best French restaurant in Perry County, but that would be entirely unfair. Instead, I can confidently say Epicerie Et Les Fleurs is - in my opinion - the second best French restaurant in central Ohio. The best is, of course, is The Refectory, which is wonderful and amazing, but so expensive it's a "special occasions" place. Epicerie Et Les Fleurs is affordable, darling, and delicious. Somerset (8 miles southeast of Thornville at the East end of Buckeye Lake) is a cute, walkable, really nice and quaint small town with numerous good restaurants and shops. Its an easy day trip from Columbus. Highly, highly recommended. Tonight for dinner I'm going to have Coq Au Vin and either baked Brie or charcuterie - not sure. And I'll have a glass of wine from their impressive wine list - maybe the French Rose or Italian Moscato. My wife is eyeing the salmon with cream sauce and fresh dill. We're REALLY looking forward to it...

From the moment we arrived, it was clear why this institution has remained at the top of the city's dining scene for half a century. My partner began with the Escargot and Shiitake Marble Veal Mousse with parsley garlic butter sauce, while I enjoyed the exceptional Mussel Soup with leek chiffonade, saffron cream, and Chablis. Both starters were beautifully prepared and set the tone for the evening. For our second course, my partner selected the Roasted Lake Erie Walleye with dill Chablis sauce, and I chose the Sautéed Florida Red Snapper with Choron vin blanc sauce. Both dishes showcased impeccable technique, fresh ingredients, and elegant presentation. Our third course continued to impress. The Black Truffle Duxelle Stuffed Rabbit Loin with Dijonnaise sauce was rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed, while my Pan-Seared Prime New York Strip Steak with cardamom sauce was cooked flawlessly and absolutely outstanding. We shared the Black Forest Tart with mascarpone chantilly and cherry gel for dessert. The flavors were wonderful, though the tart crust was a bit firmer than expected, making it somewhat difficult to enjoy with only a spoon. Service was polished and professional throughout the evening. Although the restaurant had run out of the bottle of wine we initially selected, the sommelier recommended a comparable bottle from the same AVA that was slightly more expensive and graciously adjusted the price to match our original selection. This was a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflects The Refectory's commitment to hospitality. Our only minor disappointment was the seating location. The booth where we were placed was tucked away from the main dining room and felt a bit tight, making it somewhat less comfortable than we would have preferred. While the secluded setting had its charm, a table or a more spacious booth in the main dining area would have enhanced the overall experience. Overall, it was another memorable dining experience. Exceptional cuisine, refined service, and an atmosphere that continues to set the standard for fine dining in Columbus. It's easy to understand why The Refectory has earned its stellar reputation and why it has thrived for 50 years. Highly recommended and well deserving of its legendary status.

We arrived on time. The parking was $3.00. The restaurant is in an old carriage house on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. I am a bit claustrophobic so I sat with my back to the corner while my husband had a view of the corner. Fortunately, he could see the patio which he liked. The other downside, was the couple of flies that kept buzzing to and fro around the window, We joked that we wanted inside on the nice late afternoon / early evening to avoid bugs. Hahaha. We laughed at that too as our week had us on Lake Erie covered with midgies one day and then biting flies a few days later. Gotta laugh, but I digress. L'Albatros! Our server Kyle and the team did a great job! We had water, bread with olive oil, as needed. We started with cocktails and the "French Toast". My husband enjoyed a nice white wine and I had the L'Albatros Original ( Absinthe, Lime, Pineapple, Mint ). I loved the cocktail, it was just a tad sweet, but the flavor was super ! The "French Toast" was a substantial slice of French toast covered with ragout of wild mushrooms and balsamic syrup and micro greens and shaved parmesan. It was lovely. My husband LOVES mushrooms, so this was perfect. For our mains, he ordered the shrimp pasta. Kyle shared that the cream sauce is made with Pernod, which my husband is not a fan of Anise/ black licorice,so he would not enjoy. Kyle offered that they could do a vodka cream sauce instead. This was a much better option for him and he really enjoyed. I ordered the Root Vegetable Cassoulet. It was topped with some breadcrumb mixture. It was the least successful part of the dish. While I normally like a crumble, this has an odd texture. The root vegetables were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. For dessert, my husband ordered cheesecake. I had a bite and it was tasty. I ordered a cappuccino and it was made perfectly. Definitely a place we would both be happy to return to. Well done service, food and ambiance!

An absolutely fantastic visit today…read more Our daughter is moving out of town, and for her "going-away" dinner she wanted one more visit to Cru. What a wonderful choice it turned out to be. From beginning to end, this was truly a remarkable dining experience. Every time we visit, it seems like both the food and the service continue to get even better. We had reserved a table on the outdoor patio and were seated promptly. We absolutely love the patio--its ambiance is second to none and, in our opinion, it's one of the best outdoor dining spaces in the city. This time, we decided to keep things light and ordered a selection of appetizers, a cheese board, and desserts. Since the menu changes four times a year, there's little point in listing every dish, as they'll likely be different by the time someone reads this review. A huge compliment goes to the entire kitchen staff. Every appetizer was beautifully prepared, and they even made a special zucchini blossom for our daughter, which was a wonderful surprise. A special thank you also goes to the pastry chef. The three desserts were outstanding, and the personal touch of writing "Good Luck in Chicago" in chocolate on one of the dessert plates made the evening even more memorable. We also want to recognize both sommeliers. During a previous visit, one of them had prepared an incredible house-made bar nut mix that we still talk about. We asked whether it was still available, and although he explained it was no longer on the menu, he went out of his way to prepare it for us on the spot. Our daughter absolutely loved it. Our second sommelier (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was equally wonderful. She took the time to recommend several excellent Pinot Grigios after my daughter asked for suggestions, and her knowledge and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our server, Julie, who provided warm, attentive, and professional service throughout the evening. She helped make an already special occasion even more enjoyable. As we were leaving, my daughter summed it up perfectly: "This was probably my favorite visit out of all the times we've been here." For a restaurant we've enjoyed many times over the years, that's about the highest compliment we could give. Thank you to everyone at Cru for making our daughter's farewell dinner so memorable. We wish you continued success and can't wait for our next visit.

It's a great place for a monumental birthday, anniversary, birthday, a date night or a large event as they do have private rooms Parking is a bit of a headache as they don't have enough space. So come early and be prepared to walk. Although they do have valet parking, it's sometimes a pain in the butt as it takes a long time.
