A lovely little bistro and we love small town businesses like this. It's always nice to be able to sit on a patio on a nice day! We came for our 30th anniversary trip and since we had chicken cordon bleu at our wedding we thought we'd get it in panini form. Delicious! The cheese penne is some of the best I've had. When someone tells you their 90 year old mama makes the pies, you get a slice! We split blueberry pie and a turtle brownie and both were wonderful. The owner was so happy to share her story when asked. As a tip to future customers, if you don't like tomato or pepper as garnish, please consider telling them so they don't end up throwing it out. Little things like that will ensure small businesses like this can weather this insane economy. We will absolutely be back! read more

Impressed. Very impressed. Super impressed. This is a delicious, authentic French bistro in the heart of Somerset. Dining is indoor and on the streetside covered patio. The food is delicious and authentically French. Service is super friendly and attentive. Prices are very fair. Lunch was so good we're going back tonight for dinner - twice in the same day. I could make a joke about this being the best French restaurant in Perry County, but that would be entirely unfair. Instead, I can confidently say Epicerie Et Les Fleurs is - in my opinion - the second best French restaurant in central Ohio. The best is, of course, is The Refectory, which is wonderful and amazing, but so expensive it's a "special occasions" place. Epicerie Et Les Fleurs is affordable, darling, and delicious. Somerset (8 miles southeast of Thornville at the East end of Buckeye Lake) is a cute, walkable, really nice and quaint small town with numerous good restaurants and shops. Its an easy day trip from Columbus. Highly, highly recommended. Tonight for dinner I'm going to have Coq Au Vin and either baked Brie or charcuterie - not sure. And I'll have a glass of wine from their impressive wine list - maybe the French Rose or Italian Moscato. My wife is eyeing the salmon with cream sauce and fresh dill. I came to this restaurant about a year ago during the start of winter. My partner was in a jacket that had varsity Lacrosse design & leggings & I was in blue jeans & a plain black sweater. We were told that we would better be served outside in the cold rather than inside in the heat. The owner seems to believe he has a hi-class establishment in the small town of somerset. We stayed so we could try the food at least once since my partner & I have tried the other restaurant in the town. My partner got a steak meal that cane with mashed potatoes & I got a salmon meal that I got rice with My salmon wasn't bad but it wasn't seasoned as much as I'd liked. The rice wasn't bad & had a good flavor to it. My partner asked for her steak medium rare & her steak came back well done. Since she was already frustrated with being put outside to eat she decided to just eat it & to not come back. She ate about half & then just asked of we could grab dessert & take everything to go. We got the apple pie & it was good. it was what you'd expect of apple pie, nothing amazing. We got home & my partner was still hungry. We went to Clay Haus & she got one of the steaks & they made it right & she enjoyed it. She gave the steak that was cooked properly to our dog. Service - 1/5 - We were definitely treated differently than others there that day. They had room inside the establishment but we denied dining inside & was told "it would be best" if we were to eat outside to "accommodate" the other guests. My partner had just got off work & has very wild hair & I have long hair as a male and had some small face piercings (nose & eyebrow) I feel the way we look/presented ourselves contributed to how we were treated. I did call the day prior to ask about a dress code & was told that there wasn't a specific dress code in place. I had been to the Clay Haus many time prior to going here & had always seen people more dresses up coming out of the establishment so still decided to stress more then our normal attire (T-Shirt & Scub pants for me & T-Shirt & shorts for my partner) & was still treated rudely. Food - 2/5 - while my salmon meal was okay & the meal my partner had was not. Ambiance - N/A - (We only saw the inside briefly since the owner pushed us outside very quickly but it did look nice from the glance I got when paying so I wont give a rating for it since the town of Somerset is beautiful not because of this restaurant but is beautiful due to its rich history and kind local business. Just not this restaurant.) Overall rating - 1.5/5 - I'd go to Clay Haus any day rather than this establishment! I wont return to this establishment & instead frequent the Clay Haus next door & sometimes I visit the Strong & Co. but, In my opinion after dining at the restaurant in-town (including eating at the bars in town) the best food i've enjoyed is Clay Haus with Strong & Co. as a close second. read more

We had a WONDERFUL French dinner in Somerset. Husband and I shared: * yummy, house-made bread with well-seasoned olive oil (complimentary) * baked Brie - a huge wedge with accompaniments - very delicious * beet & goat cheese salad with fresh arugula - the beet was house-pickled and phenomenal * tenderloin, well seasoned vegetables,huge portion of oven-baked potatoes, and an incredible blue cheese + butter sauce - so good we're going to make it ourselves * 1 glass of nice wine each * 1 piece of homemade pie each - carry out - we were both too full to eat the pie yet. With a well deserved 25% tip for Rick (he's awesome) the total was $88. Total. A bargain for the quality and quantity of food. I'm not sure 1 of us could have eaten at The Refectory for that, and it was SO GOOD...!!! This is a really awesome restaurant. A+++ read more

We arrived in Somerset to eat at Sophies (whose permanent closing was imminent. We didn't know we needed reservations) and ended up at Epicerie; it was a great time. While we waited for a friend to arrive, we ordered some French Press coffee and the brie appetizer. The coffee was delicious, so smooth, it was terrific. The brie came accompanied by crackers, fig jam, olive tapenade, and roasted garlic. It was delightful, full of flavor, and a decent amount of brie for the amount owed. We decided on half salads with the $10 per person charcuterie board. My salad was the beet with goat cheese; I can't recommend it enough. My cohorts had a regular house salad and a caprese. The house salad was gorgeous. The Caprese salad should be off the menu in December. The tomatoes looked like the waxy orange type you find at the grocery in winter. We loved the atmosphere, the ambiance, and the amiable waiter who seemed to ooze tons of wine and cheese knowledge; I found him exciting and curious. Now we have to discuss the $10.00 per person charcuterie board we ordered. For $30.00, we received a considerable letdown. The menu mentions various cheeses and meats. We received about 2 ounces of beef and 4 ounces (generous) of cheese. A small amount of apple, about six grapes, with fig spread, and mustard: the cheeses were cut off of fontina and other grocery-type cheeses; we had some minor cuts and cubes. I would NEVER put out a board like that in any circumstance. I told our waiter that the board was not $10.00 per person, so he split the cost in half. I felt horrible suggesting that charcuterie board when I saw exquisite-looking lunches delivered. Bottom line, I will return. The food is fantastic; the service is so fun. He sits with you and takes your order. I loved him. Steer clear of the charcuterie board; the rest is fantastic. read more

Said it was open on Maps, Facebook and Google. Got there and the sign in the window said open, and the placard sign next to the door said "open". You guessed it, they were not open. We drove an hour. Somewhere several months ago we found one post saying the changed the schedule, but they didn't actually change the info that people see. Was hopeful for a good experience but obviously cannot recommend and suggest not investing the time when clearly there is no guarantee of them being open. This is a very unexpected find in rural Somerset ohio. I Love the ambiance and had an overall great experience.

Food is great ! Menu options are limited due to building restrictions but they do great with what they have. Only complaint was the service. Took a date here and spent 80% of the time talking to the server and not my girlfriend. It'd be nicer to have more seclusion. read more

This is a sweet little gem of a restaurant. Not much seating, but you can make a reservation. We had the Zuppa soup, which was spectacular! We also enjoyed a ham and Swiss pannini with a horseradish aeoli sauce and penne pasta in a cheese sauce with bread crumbs-both were delicious. We also tried a homemade bow tie pasta salad which was freshly made and tasted great. We left with a piece of homemade pie for later, which was great. The staff was pleasant and the restaurant was clean. We will go back when we can! read more
