This place rivals Cheddar's down the street, yet this place is unexplainably more expensive. Their food is not necessarily better, yet noticeably more expensive. You could almost clone their food and their atmosphere and call it Cheddar's. However, they charge a good 10-20% more than Cheddar's. For that reason, I just cannot justify another visit to this restaurant when I know Cheddar's is a lot less expensive. They do have really good house salads with very tasty sweet croissants. Copper River Grill is a chain that you will mostly only see around South Carolina.. It seems somewhat hit or miss. I've had it in Greenville before and remember having a great grilled chicken salad. This time was an off night I guess.. I ordered some takeout from the bar because my hotel is right next door. It was really slow! The bartender was a good dude and checked on the kitchen a few times for me, even though he was really busy. I just ordered the side salad/she crab soup combo. I had also asked for no tomatoes on my salad and got them anyways... Not a huge deal, just kind of annoying. Friday Night at Copper River...a Wait and Loud. I met my clients there to have dinner about 8pm on Friday Night. The wait was about an hour long which for us was not bad, we talked and had a great time. We were seated by the kitchen and the sounds were so loud and obnoxious it distracted all four of us several times stopping our good time. Fortunately the food was adequate and the dessert was very good. The portions are large, the food came fast and the waiter kept our drinks full. When we asked about it they said the kitchen was backed up but the table beside and behind us received their before we did when we ordered before they did. The meal that they prepared for me didn't have the extra Alfredo sauce I asked for and they tried to charge me for it. The croissant that was on my plate was smashed flat. My food wasn't even warm. I visited copper River last year after Christmas time with my mom & I had a very DELICIOUS experience! I ordered the chicken tenders & fries & salad with the honey butter roll with ranch dressing! My mom ordered the loaded baked potato and salad! The fries were good & hot. The chicken tenders I enjoyed the most! They were cooked and seasoned just perfectly. I'd definetly go back for those yummy tenders! My server was Kristi and she was super excellent on the customer service! 2/4/24 at the Greenville Sc haywood rd location . My mother who was celebrating her 82nd birthday wanted to come to this Cooper River for her celebration . She lives an hour away from this restaurant , but this is where she wanted to come . So about 15 people wanted to come celebrate with her . Mind you half of us had to drive and hour or more to get there. ( I guess he was manager we were dealing with but I forget his name on a receipt at the restaurant ) But I am sure you can find out who worked 1:00 pm on Sunday 2/4/24 . He was unprofessional and just rude in my opinion. I understand your policy of only seating 7 people per table and we did not have a problem with that , the area we sat in had sufficient seating and we didnt mind having more that one waitress per table . He didnt handle the situation well and several of us wanted to leave , But once again thats were my mother wanted to come .Treating people with respect goes along way especially when we are spending our money there.I am a business owner myself and his behavior was unacceptable . Lunch today consisted of the steak sandwich with the loaded mashed potatoes. Also, me and a few co-workers had a plate of croissants. Boy, those were good, fluffy and sweet. The steak sandwich I had was really good, steak piled high and the au jus really added flavor to it. The loaded mashed potatoes were ok, dry, lumpy cheese did not melt, I added some au jus and that them a lot better, lol. We have eaten here a couple of times in the past month and we're very pleased each time. The first time my husband and I ordered a pizza and loaded fries. It was so much food we could not even finish it all. They also have amazing happy hour prices The second time I met a girlfriend and we also split two appetizers. Again we could not even finish them. Such bad management! First they allowed someone to take our spot next to someone who lied saying that they were us. The lady then lied and said that she tried to contact us via phone which never happened. After waiting an extra 45 minutes, we sat and ordered immediately. When we received our salad, we found hair in it. We waited on a fresh one and then someone at our table found another piece of hair of a different color in their salad as well. We then asked for the manager to just discuss what had happened thus far. No one at the table was upset until the manager refused to come out and speak with us. That is when we became upset. The folks to the left and right of me felt the same, like it was an inconvenience to order. I've visited many times over the years. I had some terrific experiences early on, but in the last 18 months it is not worth it. There has been issues our last 3-4 visits. If it's not slow service, it's a slow kitchen. Always something wrong with the quality of food. Underbaked croissants, under or over cooked steak, cold sides, tough meat ect. This last visit our 2 meals came out after 35 minutes and it took our daughters kids hamburger plate another full 10 minutes after that. The croissants were raw. To be entirely honest, I enjoyed my experience here which was my first visit to not only this location but this restaurant itself. I will say I found the menu to be a little on the high side. I ordered the fried shrimp made firecracker style with fries, a salad with no eggs or almonds with balsamic vinegarette, and the crab dip. The balsamic dressing was bland in my opinion. I ate here with my mother and grandma, and we were very impressed with the food. The steak was great and the baked potato was delicious. Everybody liked their food. However, should I visit Greenville again the reason I will never return to this restaurant is cleanliness. I went to the bathroom at the end of my meal and I witnessed an employee come out of the stall and immediately exit the bathroom. Disgusted and curious, I followed behind her and watched her walk straight into the kitchen. This wasn't my first meal at CRG and it won't be my last! The new menu item was a cajun inspired prime rib - WOW - it was like eating the juiciest thickest piece of the most tender meat I've ever eaten and it had the best darn flavor I've ever had! There was a problem though - after eating this huge piece of succulent and very filling meat - my poor little stomach had no room for anything else. So - I tried one french fry, which was awesome and a nibble of the "reds", a taste of the salad and two glassed of unsweetened ice tea! Not even enough room for a sampling of desert. Therefore, my review is primarily based on the meat! Service was great and when I say service is great you must remember that I have barely any patience - so expect quick service. The place was also clean both in the dinning area and in the kitchen - yes - I sat so close to the kitchen I called it the "chef's" table and the restrooms were as always very clean. But let me never forget to comment on our waitress - she was so awesome I forgot her name - but seriously - she was awesome - super friendly and she dared to recommend the new prime rib dish without even trying it herself - she was lucky - it was GREAT! Value was also there - two excellent dinners for under 50 bucks and neither of us went back to our hotel rooms still hungry. I will surely return to this place! However, I cannot give 5 stars and will not talk myself into it because they really need to learn to put less salt on everything. Though it tasted great - my blood pressure will not agree! I had the sliced rib-eye sandwich (AKA French Dip) and & fries, and their milk stout. The food was average. Nothing outstanding but no complaints either. Service was apathetic. Wake up restaurant peeps. This is the service industry you are in. The food I can easily get elsewhere for less coin. They seem to be following the new service model for casual dining establishment in the US where waitstaff share the serving duties and tips go into a pool. Unfortunately for the customer this translates into poor service. After delivery of my sandwich & fries that was the last interaction I had with waitstaff the entire time there. Not once did they stop back and see how the food was. Mind you I sat at the bar. I was there at least 45 minutes to an hour. Most bars - if you're there that long and your beer glass is empty or nearly so, they're all over you for a refill as that's where their profits are. The only thing that got their attention was when I dropped my credit card on the check, otherwise they couldn't be bothered. Generally when you leave a restaurant the host/ hostess at the door will greet you as you are leaving and inquire as to how things were. I could see empty tables, and we had a short wait. The ultimate problem seemed to be that they were short handed on wait staff. It took a long time to get drinks, and refills. After taking our orders they were quick to bring us our food. A waitress kept coming by the table and apologizing that she had not been over to help us yet- all the while another waiter had taken over our table. It seems like they had some communication issues. We had a party or 5 and we sat in a booth near the kitchen. Noise was not really a problem, but it was very warm. Approaching uncomfortable. We had the steak nacho appetizer, several people had salads, 2 girls ordered the fish, another had a pasta, and I had a grilled chicken sandwich- they had no problems accommodating our special requests and everyone seemed happy with their food.
