It wasn't quite what I would call a jam, but lemme tell you. There's this four piece band who plays a bitchin set to get everybody in the mood, then, something that seems like the bastard child of open mic and karaoke ensues. Musicians are encouraged to come lay something down. They can play solo, or they can be accompanied by a band who can quickly learn the song. What an opportunity, do John on the drums, Shawn on the slide with an SG, Drew (?) with a hollow body Telecaster and (sorry I forgot the name, but) Santa Ray Cyrus on the more than 4 strings bass, offer to amateur musicians! You can lead a band for a few songs! This is the kind of bar where all walks of life commune. The staff is prompt and polite. The drinks are affordable. Douchebaggery seems to be minimal. Oh yeah, if the hot dog orders aren't too backed up, Josh (the executive chef) sits in on the drums. He can flat out play! Thanks for the gracious hospitality, band members and bar staff. The building looks like a castle from the outside if you have seen it off 85. Its off the Pelham Road exit. They also own Chophouse 47 that is almost next door.
