Seems like the nicest place in Nicholasville. Nice bar with a good food selection. We've recently moved from the Boston area and need a nice place with a nice bar. I suspect we'll spend lots of time here. It can get noisy at the bar during UK games (but I suspect most places will be as well). read more

Overall this place is a great place to eat. I've only been here once, hearing all good things about it beforehand. The service is great, the prices are so so but you get a huge portion for the price so it's not bad at all. I had the baby back ribs and these are the reason Copper River didn't get 4 stars. They were not as good as I expected them to be. Little too crispy and not too much meat on them. But the bbq glaze was good and what little meat there was was good as well. I had placed an order through the door dash for a pick-up order. Was told that it would be ready in about 30 minutes. Drove the 15 minutes to get there. On arrival NO ONE greeted me. I stood at the bar for 10 min, had to grab the attention of the takeout person to even ask a question about my order. The response and tone were unacceptable. I was told, "I don't know how long you will have to wait, it could be two hours!" I realize it's busy but you didn't even ask for a name on the order to see where it was on the list or even acknowledge me. The rude and sass of this person was terrible. I'm pretty sure it was a manage since they were not wearing a uniform. Copper river grill you should be ashamed of your staffs' attitude and lack of hospitality. For the record, we had a grilled cheese, club sandwich, and a prime rib sandwich. Neither of them should take 2 hours. We will never, ever return. read more

I work in Nicholasville and we go to Copper River often. I always order a salad of some kind with chicken or shrimp and they have all been really good. I guess this isn't a complaint but they're probably the biggest salad i've ever seen. It would easy feed three or four people. Some co-workers always order burgers and have said they are among the best burgers they have ever had. I guess that's saying something. I think it's a chain and i prefer local but i really like Copper River, good service, good food and good prices. read more

January 20-2012 Three of us eat there about 4PM yesterday. Totally underwhelming- steak overcooked a bit, Flounder special was very disappointing- Captain D has better fish-maybe kept at room temp too long before cooking and my wife's chicken dish was just OK. When evaluated for the 61.00 bill- no drinks except water. We were disappointed. We were offered a free dessert and took them up on it- we took it home and it was pretty good. Pretty disappointing that three of their specialty disease were mediocre or just plain bad. Highlight; Salad were very good and soup as well. At table next to us- a lady had plastic in her baked potato which required the manager and just as we were leaving another customer had returned their meal. Looks like the salads are the way to go . We ate there for the 2nd time on Valentine's day weekend. We were told the wait would be an hour, we waited roughly 40 minutes, so not bad at all. Our waitress was lovely, she made small talk and never let our drinks run out. She even brought us more garlic bread for our crab dip appetizer when we ran out but still had dip left. We had the prime rib voodoo style, it was cooked perfectly and delicious. You get alot of food, we couldn't eat all of it. Our waitress brought take home boxes as well as drinks to go. This place was so disappointing. The inside is absolutely gorgeous and our waitress was friendly, but the actual food was a disaster. For example, we ordered spinach/artichoke dip for an appetizer. The dip wasn't even hot when they brought it to us and a few of the chips were chewy, not crunchy. As a mom of 2 under 2, a night out where I don't have to cook is suppose to be a relief. Copper River grill is home to some of the friendliest servers I can ever remember having anywhere. The food is great, and the service is awesome. I had the Flounder platter with the 7 Fried shrimp the first time I went, and it was awesome. The second time I had the hickory smoked (I think that's what it's called) Salmon platter with the cheesy potatoes, which were both two of the best of both things that I had ever had before. I also have had the BBQ Chicken nachos, which may sound weird, but were delicious, and are a unique twist for an appetizer. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

I have lived in Nicholasville for nearly 5 years. I have yet to have a bad experience here. The staff is always friendly & the food is excellent. The house salad with the house dressing is the most delicious thing I've ever had. But the croissant that comes with it is like HEAVEN! When my family comes in town, this is where we choose to take them. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. From the woodwork of the bar to the gorgeous fireplace in the middle. Perhaps the lack of quality options in Nicholasville leaves Copper River with a false sense of security. But I am not impressed with this restaurant, for many reasons. The most recent experience, however, has solidified my decision to not come back. I ordered the overpriced ribeye, because I had a gift certificate, and was sorely disappointed. After sending the steak back twice (the second time was because it wasn't even a ribeye), I decided I didn't want the rest of my party to have to wait on me. When the manager came to ask me what was wrong with the steak, he argued it was in fact a ribeye because they cut the steaks on site. Well, if that is a ribeye, it was the grainiest, toughest ribeye that I have ever seen; in addition to that, there was no fat or marbling that makes any ribeye the tender piece of meat it is supposed to be. Even though I was not charged for the steak, the manager or server still charged me for my tea. When a customer is dissatisfied with their meal, you should comp the entire bill; especially if they decide not to eat anything. The only reason I gave this restaurant 2 stars rather 1 is because I did taste my mother's salad and croissants and they were both very tasty. But due to the lack of proper customer service, I will not be returning. Lexington is not that far away if I'm going to drop $20+ on a steak. read more

First time here since I'm a city man from Los Angeles... I'm visiting family out here and drove by and stopped to have an early dinner.. Table for two, around 5ish.. Had to wait to be seated, girls had to wonder who was doing what section after they showed up. Got seated and somewhat promptly asked about drinks, ordered those and waited...... while another table got drinks and ordered... Ordered and waited for dinner.. Burger was good size, the honey salmon tho was on the small side as was the portion on mashed.. Honestly, I get the same quality with better portions at Stonefire Grill... Which I don't think y'all have out here.. Pitty... I'd suggest either a burger, or drive to Lex and hittup Texas Roundhouse.. The food might be ok here, but the service isn't on par at all. If I came back, I think I'd stick to dessert and call it a night... After being in KY for over a month, I truely feel for ya'll in the foodie department.. read more

Today's lunch was a total bust, I ordered prime rib, salad, and sweet potato, but was told they wouldn't be ready for another hour, so I switched to loaded mashed potatoes. I got my salad and before I could take two bites here comes my prime rib, so I rushed eating my salad so my other food wouldn't get cold! The loaded mashed potatoes that I asked for no scallions were cold and covered in scallions, server brought out another order which were cold as well, the prime rib was extremely tough and very bland. Not had a disappointing meal at Copper River yet. The BBQ chicken nachos are an excellent appetizer. Their salads are more than a meal! My favorite meal is the wood fired pepperoni pizza. House salad is good. My husband's burger was good. I had the 10 oz flat iron steak, it was terrible, full of grizzle. I very seldom complain about my food, so I going to leave and not say anything about it, but the waiter noticed that I did not finish it, so he asked if I wanted a box to take it home, I told him no, it was not very good. He said that's not good, and walked off after clearing our plates from the table. He brought back our check and said have nice evening. No comment or apology about the terrible steak. This was our second time to eat there within the past couple of months, the first time, the food was good, however we will not be back again. Food and service are almost always good ( any restaurant can have a near miss every now and then). One of the attractions used to be the atmosphere, and it still is, but to a lesser degree. I have eaten here a handful of times and the food has always been delicious. The service, however, has always been terrible. I have never waited less than an hour there for food after being seated. On the other hand, I 've gotten my entire meal free twice because it was either totally wrong, or very slow. And I'm not a complainer, I would have gladly paid for the food. So, they make up for their mistakes, but they would be well advised to work on their management. It would save them a lot of money I'm sure. I have had their pizza, burgers, italian sub, nachos, poor boys, various soups, and hot bacon and honey mustard salad. All were excellent. read more

We thought then she should be fired .... after tonight I walked out after the same attitude she had the first time happened again. I went to the nicholasville location tonight and had supper. My son ordered a side salad with out egg and it came with egg on it. The bartender took care of that. I ordered a Monster in Law sandwich and ate it in parts. When I got to the hamburger it was raw. I do not mean rare, raw and cold. I ordered it medium rare. The manager come over after the bartender found her after 30 min.. She offered me a desert I did not need the sugar and left with the bottom half of my sandwich. They charged me full price and expected a tip. This is why the resturant is no longer full and if this is typical will not be open in a year. I am posting this same comment on the web to let other people know what to expect from you management. read more
