I've been coming in a little more frequently and I got to say we really love the place. We've never had to wait regardless of how busy it is, and the service is always wonderful. Everyone is so nice, welcoming and attentive, it's hard not to come back. Everything we've ordered has been excellent, personally I usually get their surf and turf combinations that come with a good amount of bread and sides. Their cocktails are fancy and well served but the only one I have liked is the pixie stick one. The beer is also great, and so is their dessert. A nice "all-American" cuisine spot with something to please most palates. Spacious and open, seating not too close together. Booths large and roomie. Apps include asparagus fries, beef carpaccio, calamari, crab cocktail, shrimp cocktail, shellfish tower, spinach and artichoke dip, hot baked lump crab dip, and fried chicken tenders. We had the lump crab dip and it was indeed hot, savory, rich, and cheesy. Pretty good for this far off the coast. They also have a large sushi collection. A large salad selection as well: steakhouse, blue cheese and apple, caesar, salmon spinach, Thai chicken, kale and quinoa, California Cobb, and Malone's Lexingtonian (mixed greens, bacon, tomato, creamy herb dressing). Large seafood selection, including blue crab linguini, fried fish, chilean seabags, grilled salmon piccata, Atlantic salmon, fried shrimp. They also have chicken linguini, alfredo, pan seared chicken, wraps, and burgers. They have a large selection steaks, including prime center cut sirloin, filet mignon (various sizes), Manhattan strip, and more. I had the 8 oz filet mignon, medium. Cooked perfectly. Perfectly seasoned and tender. The fries were super hot and crispy, well seasoned. The bottomless Lexingtonian salad (we each had one plate, that's it) was creamy and cold, but nothing special. Outstanding, two nights in a row. Sat at the bar, Taylor was bartender/server, she is very attentive and makes an awesome vodka martini (slightly dirty very cold). Food was very good had the buffalo shrimp, both nights, tuna stack, and then the second night I had the salmon piccata fantastic. Amazing meal!! We came for a family celebration and had a lovely time. We ordered some sushi with was some of the best I've ever had. It was the spicy roll with Yellow Tail. The sushi rice was especially delicious. The Lexingtonian salad was delicious. It's just romaine with tomatoes and bacon with ranch dressing but it comes together beautifully. The butter and bread were great too. We order the twin fillets with the Bernaise which is like hollandaise. We asked for the steak to be cooked rare and it was cooked perfectly to our liking. The Mexican street corn had a great creamy sauce and there are peppers in the it that make it spicy which we loved. The Brussels sprouts were recommended by the waiter and I'm so glad we got them. They were perfectly crispy and the sauce on top was a lovely addition. The sea bass was also perfectly cooked. The little mushrooms on top were tender. It comes with a miso ginger broth that they bring out in a little metal teapot. They should bring a spoon with the meal so you can get all of the broth! We had a great experience at Malone's. I made a last minute reservation for dinner (for eight!), and they were very accommodating. It was my grandniece's third birthday, and they had the table ready for a birthday and they treated her like a princess. The food was great, and service was perfect. My brother has just about every food allergy in the book, so he never complains and never makes special requests because he has such specific allergies and doesn't want to hold up dinner or make a fuss. He's just used to seeing what he can eat and choosing accordingly. The waiter noticed that he wasn't eating the shared salads, so he asked about it then brought him his own salad that just had ingredients he could eat. He sure savored that salad! We had a great time, and then they brought the birthday girl her own special dessert with a birthday candle. I eat out a lot in different cities around the world for business. The wife and myself ordered Valentine's night dinner carry out. When we arrived she was prompt in bringing our order to the car. We had her go over the order to make sure it was complete. She said everything was there. We get home, we're missing two soups. We call about the soups and told one was a side and the other was not rung in. Then she rudely says "well you didn't pay for them, what do you want us to do about it?" The food we did receive was mediocre at best. The calamari was over cooked in last weeks oil. Sooooo, we come Lexington every year for our Anniversary from Cincinnati. We have been to Malones before but a few years ago wasn't too great. We figured we would give them some time to bounce back from covid & all. Last night had its ups and downs. We ordered the surf & turf roll that used to be fully wrapped in filet .... As u can see in the picture not so much now.... And dont think it was filet definitely & different cut of beef.... When we ordered our meals we asked that our mac & cheese NOT come out watery, the last time we came it was literal noodle with water cheese. Louis said we have changed the mac and cheese; we were so relieved!! .... Also noticed they made some changes to layout of restaurant as well. We both order our steaks medium rare ALWAYS.... Mine came medium at best his arrived perfect medium rare :( ... louis had recommended the shellfish mac and cheese which was verrrrrry dry as u can see in the pic.... My mac n chz however was fantastic great change they have made ... the 3rd star on this review is solely based on the new & improved mac & chez ..... Lexatonian salad was on point as always..... butter that comes with bread less herbs in it as usual kinda taste like cream chz ... not the butter I remember ..... Malone's was, as my sister would say, "a wonderful experience." For starters - their bread was fresh and probably some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The Lexingtonian salad was also a highlight. We ordered the Boneless Rib Eye (cooked medium) with a loaded baked potato. It was savory, seasoned just right, and absolutely delicious. My other sister ordered a Filet Mignon and she said it was very thick and juicy. Blevin was our server, and he was very funny. He announced the arrival of our cheesecake by saying, "Cheesecake Factory!" When I went to take a picture before my sister took a bite, he said, "the camera eats first." Love, love, love this restaurant. Went in on a Saturday night, with no reservations, but we lucked out that there were 2 seats at the bar. Sitting at the bar can be fun because you get to know people you don't know. We enjoyed our conversation with a gentleman sitting next to me and with our bartender/server. Service at the bar was fast, efficient and friendly. The food took a bit to come out, but the place was super busy. We started with a couple of drinks, a tequila sunrise and a malones old fashioned. Both were really very well made and tasted great. Then we moved on to the hot, fresh bread with herb butter. Warm and crusty with flavorful butter. Our meals were the twin filets, one with bernaise and the other with bleu cheese au gratin. The sides were the Lextonian salad which had a delicious herb dressing and plenty of bacon, the creamy, buttery mashed potatoes and the mexican street corn full of flavor and veggies. Both steaks were cooked properly and their toppings were excellent. We did a couple of pours of bourbon, eagle rare and blantons and both were much more reasonably priced than anywhere else we've been. We took a vanilla bean cheesecake to go, which was great later. Our server was amazing (I wish I would've catched his name) but he explained everything very well and answered any questions we had. Went went specifically for there chef favorites this month. I am always impressed when I go to Malone's! It's not every trip to Lexington I get to dine here, so I enjoy the opportunity when it comes. This past experience, we made a reservation for a group of 11 following a day at the Keeneland meet, and it was the perfect way to end a very Kentucky day! Looking around at the signed menus on the wall from celebrities who also patronized here, it's easy to wonder what they ordered. For me, a steak with bottomless Lexingtonian salad and bread and a side of their Mac n cheese is a no brainer! I had enjoyed a sirloin in the past, but this time I ordered the twin filets and have determined this to be my new usual here! I had a business dinner in the area and the customer recommended Malone's. I arrived early and had a "Frontiersman" at the bar. Lauren mixes a damn good cocktail. I was in a perfect mood as my other guests arrived and we were taken care of by Chasity. I had the twin filets with bernaise and the Gruyère croquettes. Medium rare perfection with an amazing crust on both steaks. Ironically, the second filet was a better cut than the first. The salad was just "ok" in my opinion, but the fresh bread with the herb butter was the star of the appetizer course. That butter is crack. I will definitely be returning to Malone's. read more

First of all, I made this reservation in November for my graduation dinner. The reservation was for 20 people it ended up being 17 (not a big deal). The person who made the reservation failed to mention that all the tables would be separate and they could not accommodate a table over 16 people. I was disappointed with the lack of communication. My whole family was in town and it would have been nice to all sit at a dinner table. The crab dip was great and the Lex roll. I generally like my steaks rare but I shared my meal and ordered the steak medium rare and it was rare. This has happened on two other occasions at Malones. I suggest ordered your steak a temperature up from what you're used to. The mahi entree was over cooked but my guests did not want to say anything because it was my graduation and did not want to make me upset. I was super disappointed at this Malone's location. The entrees were either super salty or bland. The pan roasted white fish had zero flavors when it's supposed to be cooked "seasoned, butter, white wine". The sauce in the dish just tastes like un-marinated fish juice that accumulated in pan when they roasted it, just plain. If you are in the area and want a good steak, this place is what you're looking for! We were in town for a bachelor's party weekend. We wanted a really good steak, not a mediocre Texas Roadhouse steak(not bashing them they just aren't in the same league.) A few of the guys had the filet but I wanted the NY strip. Honestly one of the best I've ever had and I've been to many very nice steakhouses in my lifetime. Lastly, the baked potato was probably the best I've ever experienced. Not sure exactly why but everyone at the table was surprised as well. It was buy and yes it was a bit loud but the food more than made up for any issue with loudness. The server made suggestions I would not have thought would be appetizing, but they were great.. Malone's has changed the menu since August and drastically changed the prices and not improved quality of food. Love lobster macaroni. It's a up charge and watery with uncooked noodles. To pay $100 for a meal and it to be subpar is unacceptable. If you are going to increase prices you have to increase or maintain the same quality of food.
