ZERO stars! do NOT come here. They low balled me and then offered way more when I was about to walk out back to coin gallery. A very the phone before driving over, they offered 66$ an ounce for exactly what I had. Got there, they offered way less. Thieves. They decided not to buy my quarter ounces that were 7.9grams instead of 7.76 grams after wasting my time. What's the problem with getting more silver ?? They tested them. Passed 3 testers at 999 silver. They didn't even explain to me or mention why they wouldn't buy them. So they lowballed me 10$ less on each ounce, offered that extra 10$ as soon as I told them I'm going back to coin gallery. Wasted my time for like 15 minutes. I am visiting the area from Manhattan, and I thought I would take advantage of the recent silver dip. I looked around on Google Maps to find a place nearby where I was staying to pick up a few ounces... and I found Copper State Coin. I'm not used to buying silver and gold in a strip mall because I live in New York City... but, honestly it was nice not to have to wade through ten mafia hitmen just to get a few buffalo rounds. Anyway, the folks here were great, they knew what they were talking about, and although I didn't need much help because I knew what I wanted... they were very helpful. Overall, I had a great experience. I would definitely come back here if I were in the area and silver was below one hundred an ounce. read more

He was only helping out his floor staff as they happened to be a little short handed that day. I brought in a small lot of 90% silver from a family collection ($18.45 in dimes and 5 quarters, so $19.70 face value). They clearly assumed I didn't know anything about precious metals. She offered me approximately $470.00 (so low I don't remember the exact number but it was definitely under $480.00) for the entire lot. With live silver spot currently sitting at $62.15 an ounce, the actual melt value of my 14.08 troy ounces of pure silver is $875.41. Her offer breaks down to a dismal 23.8x face value, or roughly $33.36 an ounce. That means she was attempting to buy my silver at a staggering $28.79 BELOW the spot price per ounce, trying to pocket over $405 of pure profit. When I then asked what they pay relative to spot, she claimed that refineries and mills aren't taking 90% right now. While it's true that mills are experiencing major backlogs, that does not justify a predatory price like this. A fair shop dealing with a refinery backlog would not lowball so blatantly. They might drop their rate to $5 or $6 under spot to cover their short-term risk, but they wouldn't try to gouge you for nearly $30 under. I walked out with my silver, and I highly recommend checking live tickers and doing your own math before letting this shop touch your items. Please do not reply blaming standard retail overhead, market volatility, or the condition of the coins. Normal dealer overhead never justifies a massive 45% haircut, and live silver spot prices do not crash by nearly thirty dollars an ounce during a five-minute conversation. Even if you factor in significant physical wear from circulation, these coins only lose about 1% to 2% of their silver weight, which reduces the total value by less than $18.00 not $400.00. read more

Inventory is basic , Customer service is blah , and they If you're looking to sell coins to them , you would probably get better offers , and treatment , at a pawn shop . So my opinion of Copper State Coins is.................... Not very good at all . I would recommend looking at alternative coins shops before coming here . read more

I began my search for a coin shop and looked at many reviews of various shops around the valley. Copper State had great reviews and I even saw them mentioned in another businesses review as a positive interaction. I called the Peoria store this morning and spoke with a very nice and informative man that directed me to the Phoenix location to meet our needs. My husband called the Phoenix location and spoke with David about our needs and confirmed they could assist us. We arrived and we were greeted by Ivy behind the counter. She was very nice, informed us of what was needed, how she could assist and the transaction was quick and efficient. Very easy and pleasant to deal with both locations. After a terrible experience with a coin shop 10 years ago in Washington state we never entered another coin store and dealt online. We were very pleased with Copper State and will definitely do business again with them and recommend them for others needs in the world of coins and metals. read more

I have gone to them a few times and they always gave me a fair price on gold coins. Today I went in and they low-balled the crap outta me. I had not seen the guy that attended to me there before and he took a long time typing away on the register. He kept going to talk to someone in the back. That kinda made me sus and sure enough he offerred me 1600 on a 1/2 ounce coin and 1300 on another 1/2 ounce coin. The guy said it was scratched and pretty much scrap gold. That was like an 800 dollar haircut. Went someplace else and got 2200 and 2100 respectively. Something maybe fishy there so I wouldn't recommend selling anything to them anymore. Beware. Shady. I called this business in advance and they told me they'd pay "just under spot- less than 1% for my gold coin. when i went in they quoted me 2.5% they told me they don't go by the stock market rate. They gave me some BS story about how they have different buy rates and yada yada yada a bunch of total BS. Of the 30+ gold dealers/ companies I called in Arizona every single one of them quoted off the current stock market rate. My step father was a commodities dealer before his death so it's a business i'm familiar with. Since i was already there i decided to go ahead and sell to them. 1. They wanted to pay by check as they don't have much cash 2. They asked me to sign documents detailing the sale. 3. They asked for my DL and made copies of front and back 4. They took a photo of me to add to their police database and then they fingerprinted me. 5. They said it's for my own safety. 6. They eventually agreed to Zelle me most of the money to my bank and gave me a few bucks cash. 7. The guy spoke very loudly the entire time advertising our transaction to the entire store full of men. I asked him to keep his voice down as a woman i felt uncomfortable strangers knowing my business. He dismissed my concerns and continued to speak very loudly. Thank goodness i didn't get mugged on my way home. Consider this: Gold is classified as legal tender by law. If I'd walked in to a business with 4000.00 cash they certainly wouldn't require that level of Big Brother security. They are treating persons with Gold as mindless criminals. read more

Mike was good at responding to email communications quickly, and although my first interaction at the store didn't go as planned, I now realize that there's a lot more to the business than just a simple buy and sell process. Mike actually called and invited me back to the store so I could get a better understanding of how the Coin and Jewelry business works. I now have a better understanding of the process and why things are priced the way are, as well as why transactions are done the way they are. Ok, so I didn't get the pricing I wanted for some coins I bought in. The Most clearly valued, an 1883 CC GSA Morgan, graded NGC MS 63 PL, with a GREYSHEET of $375 is one of the coins I did have for sale. We can agree to disagree, HOWEVER, when the owner of the shop tells me that GREYSHEET is RETAIL, that is when I will NEVER set foot in the place again. Greysheet, or simply sheet, is dealer wholesale bid. PCGS RETAIL on this 63 in Proof Like is 525. I was offered 225. For an NGC graded CC mint proof like GSA coin. I would have taken 315-325, I know dealers need to make money, but they do not need to hit a home run on me. Anyhow, lost this customer FOREVER, the only reason I stopped in today, was because The Coin Gallery was closed. read more
