I love this homemade burger. It's one of the best I've had. If you like a chicken sandwich it's definitely the best chicken sandwich, avocado, bacon, and fresh bread that I've ever

The burger is ok, the potato salad needs mustard. Or a. Fryer that's not b/o. The last that took care of me is ok. Food was prompt

They were disruptive to the entire restaurant! We waited as patiently as we could however as it appeared the waitress just kept serving them more alcohol! And seemed to ignore us, as she made sure that everyone drinking an alcoholic beverage had a full drink before waiting on us! We could not endure the rudeness any longer so we requested to have our food packed up to GO! We got home only to find a grilled chicken sandwich without a bun, and the food was just thrown into the to go box and was not prepared appropriately and it made us both sick!! I will never go back and I do believe that this establishment definitely over serves on the alcohol and could care less about the quality of food they serve you! If you're an alcoholic then this is your best choice!!! I will be advising the Lago Vista Police Department to be on patrol around The Bunker Bar and Grill because someone is going to get hurt allowing patrons to over drink and drive even a golf cart! Yesterday was a disaster waiting to happen!!! This place doesn't even deserve one star!

The majority of the property is covered by an expansive patio area, perfect for groups. They have a number of large tables, small tables and even chaise lounge chairs - whatever makes you comfortable! We arrived later in the night just as the live band was wrapping up but there were many of people out back watching the World Cup game. In terms of drinks, I got the skinny rabbit margarita and it was fantastic. It far exceeded my (admittedly, low) expectations. It had a mint accent which was delicious, and combined with a tajin rim, the perfect summer drink. Don't worry, if you don't like mint, they will happily leave it out. My friends got an espresso martini, customized without baileys or dairy, and enjoyed it for a bar that doesn't seem like they would even have espresso martinis. One odd note that I did notice is that the handwashing sink for the restrooms is outside of the restroom and around the corner both inside and outside. At first I thought that they did not have handwashing sinks and was confused but noticed them once I left. Hopefully people remember to do this when they leave!!

Sitting along the marina with boats gently coming and going, The Lighthouse has all the ingredients for an afternoon you don't want to end. Unfortunately, our experience never quite found its sea legs. We arrived with a party of five and walked up to the host stand where several young employees greeted us... sort of. We let them know there were five of us. They nodded. That was it. No "What's your name?" No "We'll get you on the list." No "It'll be about a 30-minute wait." Just... nodding. As more guests started filing in behind us, I finally walked back up and asked if they needed our name or phone number. The group looked at one another like I'd asked them to solve a calculus equation. Eventually someone located a scrap of receipt paper and a marker to write our information down. I'm choosing to believe it was someone's first day because otherwise, it was a genuinely confusing start. The patio was bustling, but considering Texas had apparently opened the Gates of Hades that afternoon, our group requested indoor seating. A plus? There was only one table seated inside and they were just having drinks. We thought it would be a very short wait. About thirty minutes later, one of the hosts finally asked, "Would y'all be okay sitting inside?" Our entire table answered in unison: "YES." Once seated, things improved... at least initially. The dining room overlooking the marina is comfortable, with large windows that let the view do most of the decorating. The televisions were on without dominating the room, making it easy for our family to settle in and enjoy something we hadn't done in years--simply sit around one table together and catch up. Thankfully, we had plenty to talk about because the food took a while to arrive. My brother and I decided to split The Shipwreck, the restaurant's signature sandwich. On paper, it sounded incredible: fried chicken, fried cream cheese, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, homemade blueberry jam, and an order of their truffle fries. That's a sandwich that practically dares you not to order it. Unfortunately, reality didn't quite match the menu. The biggest disappointment was the "homemade blueberry jam." It wasn't jam. It tasted exactly like canned blueberry pie filling. That one ingredient completely threw off the sandwich for me. (thankfully, just in case, we had asked for it on the side) Beyond that, it was... fine. Not bad. Not memorable. Just an average fried chicken sandwich wearing a few extra accessories in hopes of becoming something special. For more than twenty dollars, I wanted something that made me think about it on the drive home. Instead, I mostly thought about how much potential it had. The truffle fries were another miss. They arrived barely warm and were cold before we made it halfway through the basket. The promised truffle flavor was faint, there were a few shavings of Parmesan, and instead of the garlic aioli listed on the menu, we were served plain mayonnaise. Meanwhile, our server proved elusive. After taking our order and delivering the food, she seemed to disappear entirely. When she finally resurfaced to greet the table beside us, we took the opportunity to ask for our check before she vanished again. To be fair, two members of our party ordered the chicken fried steak and both enjoyed it, so there were certainly bright spots on the menu. But as a whole, none of us walked away particularly impressed. It's disappointing because The Lighthouse has so much working in its favor. The location is wonderful. The view is exactly what you'd hope for on Lake Travis. The atmosphere invites you to slow down and stay awhile. Now it just needs food and service that rise to meet the setting. As for me? The Lighthouse didn't quite guide me safely to shore. Next time, I'll be looking for another place to dock in search of a better meal.

I may visit Obsidian Brewery time after time after time after time and never find out how their beer is. This is because a) They have an outstanding bar and b) They have an outstanding kitchen. For me, beer is a hardship beverage you drink when there is nothing else better available. When I go to a bar, I can sometimes be looking for mix-mastering. Usually I am looking for outstanding top of the line hard spirits. * * * When I walked into Obsidian, I looked at their bar. It was love at first sight. In front of me were twenty yards of three shelves of the most wonderful bottles I could possibly imagine. Half of them I had never heard of before. * * * I settled on a Buddha's Hand Gin. Buddha and Gin rarely appear in the same sentence Never mind the same label on a bottle. I ordered it straight up. I went immediately to Nirvana. Forget the meditation and the austerities. The Buddha's Hand Gin was as good as a trip to the Himalayas. Buddha's Hand is an obscure citrus fruit that grows multiple protuberances the way some horseradishes do. It is golden and looks like a hand. Ergo the name. The Buddha's Hand Gin is a citrus tinged gin with an edge more like orange zest than like orange juice. The additional botanicals make it strong, attention grabbing, fruity and yet combative. I was absolutely fascinated. Note that Buddha's Hand Gin is only one of the many items they have to explore there. I am totally ready to do more exploring. * * * The kitchen at Obsidian is also of distinction. The savvy local guide I came with adored his Thai Curry Wood Fired Rings. I went with a Cheesy Bread. This is open-faced grilled cheese on a thick slice of bread the size of a shoebox, with a wonderful homemade tomato sauce on about 1/3 of it. It is the best cheese pizza you have ever had. It is what cheese pizza is supposed to be if you don't use the standard canned ingredients that institutional providers sell to Domino's. I was as in love with my cheese bread as I was with my citrus gin. * * * The company was also outstanding. Which is just as well because Obsidian is a social place. Lots of Leanderthals having a fine time in couples and groups. This is not a loner's loser bar. You know - the dark rooms with misfits drinking their sixth beer while watching TV. This is a good folks good times full-of-sunlight place. So you definitely want to come with good folks. * * * Good food, good bottles, good people. While it was a bit of a far drive, it was well worth it to have breakfast at Texas Toast Breakfast and Burgers with these friends. I had no expectations of what to expect (first time diner), so I was starting from ground zero. First impression...this was a neighborhood café with down home cooking. The restaurant had a small town, country, and laid-back vibe...no pretense, just warm and welcoming. As I got out of my car, I could smell the wafts of something good happening in the kitchen. Our server was friendly and immediately offered us water. She gave us adequate time to place our orders and checked on us pretty frequently. She was attentive while also giving us the right amount of space. Why do this neighborhood café have a 4.8 rating? Hands the food! My friends ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Plate (including three over easy eggs, hash browns, and of course, Texas toast) and two breakfast tacos. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Did I die and go to food heaven? The waffles were firm on the exterior and soft and flavorful inside. So, so good! My friends were pleased their meals also. My friends meal came with Texas toast, which she gave to me. It was yummy! I did not eat it all since I was carb-loading with waffles. Would I dine at Texas Toast Breakfast & Burgers again? Absolutely!!!

I grew up eating (and later making) really good chicken fried steak. So I didn't come in casual. I came in ready to evaluate. First things first: this spot is tucked into a strip mall, and if you're not paying attention, you'll drive right past it. Keep your eyes open. Walking in, though? Completely different story. The vibe is laid-back, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. We were greeted right away and told to sit wherever we liked. Midday on a Wednesday meant it was nice and quiet; no wait, no chaos. Drinks were simple - Mexican Coke for me (always a win), fountain Pepsi for my lunchmate. (it's always nice when they have both options) We both ordered the chicken fried steak because of course we did. That's what brought us here. Sides: Me: green beans + mashed potatoes Them: salad + mashed potatoes Gravy situation: Me: classic Them: chorizo gravy Food came out quickly, which I always appreciate. Let's break it down honestly: The breading on the chicken fried steak? Perfection. Crispy, well done, exactly what you want. The meat itself? That's where things fell short. It needed more tenderizing--cutting into it took effort, and the texture leaned dense and chewy instead of that tender, fork-friendly bite you're hoping for. On top of that, it was missing seasoning, which made the whole thing feel a little flat despite that beautiful crust. The chorizo gravy (per my lunchmate)? Solid. Good flavor. But even that couldn't fully make up for the lack of seasoning in the meat. Sides were a mixed bag. Flavor was there--but mine had noticeable cold spots, like they'd been reheated unevenly. My lunchmate's sides were warm, but not quite hot. Now here's where they win big: The service. Top notch across the board. Everyone was kind, attentive, and welcoming without hovering. The owner even came by to chat for a bit - super friendly, clearly passionate, and we genuinely enjoyed the conversation and hearing about the food. That kind of hospitality goes a long way. Overall? I'd come back. But next time, I'm switching it up. The owner confidently recommended the waffles, and after that conversation, I'm willing to give them a shot. Because while the chicken fried steak didn't quite hit the mark for me this time, the people and the atmosphere? Absolutely worth another visit.
