I know that Mericans love huge Fred Flintstone size portions, but these pieces were really small. Delicious and non-greasy, but almost on the microscopic size of things. The cold noodles were amazing after walking all around new york. The noodles were thin and had a good al dente chew and the vinaigrette carefully combined italian pasta with korean soba. By far, my favorite part of this meal. The chicken pieces were hearty and big. I can tell they did a wet batter then a dry batter, which is a little untraditional for korean fried chicken. I have mixed feelings about this spot. I got the friee chicken bucket with a glass of champagne (the waiter said chicken and champagne is what they are known for). First, I want to thank the staff for accommodating us as walk-ins; every reservation was pretty much booked and we just wanted to see if we could get in (I don't recommend this method, they were packed for brunch and it had only just opened). The wait staff were all patient and understanding of my allergies (I have many but focused on my wheat and shellfish allergies). Our server, Don, was extremely charming and helpful. For the brunch he was able to do accomodations (extra croquettes instead of French toast sticks, mushroom lettuce wrap instead of shrimp). Before we even got our meals, they served us a chicken consumme that was a very nice start. The appetizers were so tasty. My favorite were the croquettes, but the hash browns with salmon roe were also very, very tasty. I also enjoyed the bimbinbop. My husband really enjoyed the lettuce wraps, and we both agreed that the deviled eggs were delicious. I had the OG fried chicken and soy sauce-garlix glaze mix gluten free and it was so delicious. The chicken was fried perfectly and was light and very crispy, not greasy at all. It reminded me of my time in Japan and going to a ramen shop with my host father that had the best fried chicken ever. The reason I feel this restaurant is so hyped is because of its beautiful design. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by 3 marble sinks with designer/branded soaps. I would argue that the wings are no better than some Korean chicken chain stores, and the kimchi was lackluster and flavorless. Difficult to get a reservation for two. One opened up for lunch a couple of days before. Beautiful ambience and presentation. It really felt like finding that much more affordable prices. We got the lunch special serving of chicken and rice with a seaweed soup starter, and then we did the chicken bucket and the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare was really fresh, the bread was crispy and fried and heavier than I thought, but very filling. We tried every flavor of fried chicken, I do think the original is the best flavor. Really nice presentation on sauces to go with it. Very great service overall, nice passionfruit on top of yogurt too and the meal. The fried chicken felt very clean and not too heavy, but I did not leave feeling still hungry. Beautiful restaurant and getting a reservation can feel like trying to get inside a club. The fried chicken is what it's all about and it's very very good. Light and crispy coating, not greasy. We opted for 2 OG as we heard the other sauces were not quite as good as the OG and it's served with 4 different sauces you can add as well. To start the chicken broth was fantastic, super flavorful, incredible umami. The banchan were a nice accompaniment, in particular the lotus root and pickled daikon. The chilled noodles were just ok, nothing overly special if you ask me. The soft serve at the end though was quite refreshing and fantastic. I'd come just for that as simple as it is. We sat at the bar and our server/bartender was very friendly and helpful in providing us with some suggestions. It's a great overall experience, a lot of fun.
