I went to COQODAQ with my sister for a sister date and overall we had a really good experience. We had a reservation but still ended up waiting almost 30 minutes before getting a table which was a little frustrating considering we actually had a reservation. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The dark interior, warm lighting, gorgeous bar, and overall atmosphere give it a very intimate, upscale vibe. It's definitely one of those restaurants where the ambiance is part of the experience. For drinks, I ordered the Alaska Martini, which I really enjoyed. I completely forgot what my sister ordered . For appetizers, we had the Coqonut Shrimp and Caesar salad, then we ordered the Bucket List for our main meal. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and flavorful, but I actually loved how much came with the Bucket List. It included several sides, so you really get to try a little bit of everything. We had the spicy tteokbokki, coleslaw, savory egg soufflé, and cold perilla. The cold perilla was easily one of my favorites probably the best I've ever had. I was not expecting to love it that much. The Bucket List also comes with soft-serve frozen yogurt at the end, which was the perfect way to finish the meal after all the fried chicken and savory sides. Overall, the food was delicious, the portions were generous, the presentation was beautiful and the atmosphere made it feel like a proper sister date. Food: I have been wanting to try COQODAQ for a while now and finally had a chance to recently. I went with a group of six people, and we each did The Bucket List set meal for $52 per person which includes chicken consomme, signature sauces, ban-can (kimchi, pickled peppers), coleslaw, spicy rice cakes (a favorite of the group), egg souffle, cold perilla seed noodle, soft serve frozen yogurt, and pieces of the fried chicken (original flavor, soy garlic, and gochujang). The fried chicken pieces included wings and thigh meat (all dark meat pieces). All items besides the fried chicken are refillable and unlimited. We also ordered the mac and cheese and onion rings on the side (additional cost) which were both excellent; I would highly recommend these sides. The quality of all of the food was excellent. Each piece of chicken was perfectly fried, and the chicken was very moist inside. Although I enjoyed the food and everything was of great quality, this is not a restaurant I will go back to. For the price per person, I felt that the portion of fried chicken was on the smaller side. The fried chicken was also nothing particularly special that would make me want to go here over another Korean fried chicken restaurant. The restaurant also felt very upscale, stuffy, and fancy. Service: Service was phenomenal. Staff were attentive and friendly. There are plenty of staff around if you need something. Ambiance: The restaurant is very nice, and the decor is beautiful. It's a very upscale vibe. Seating was very tight in a booth for six people. I've seen the hype. I've seen all of the IG post about it. Those reservations filled up quick during prime time. And it looks expensive af. Luckily a few years later after opening, they decided to participate in Restaurant Week, so I took this as an opportunity to finally try them out at a much affordable price. I'm glad I did it then rather than their regular menu pricing. I snuck out of work during my lunch break and was able to walk-in without a reservation, mainly because it's a minimum party size of two to book a reservation. I was still able to get a table seat rather than a bar seat or at one of the hightop tables. Upon entering the restaurant, you walk right up to the famous hand washing station, which I used both upon entering and after my meal. It took the hostess a good five minutes to get back to her the hostess stand after what appears to be seating another party. I would think they would have two people managing if the space is that big. The table service is fantastic and follows the standard of a fine dining establishment. The Restaurant Week lunch menu was three course for $60 per person. The first course was The Golden Nugget, which I choose 24 Karat. You get one nugget and this may have been the best nugget I've ever ate. Not because of the caviar that is on top, but how the chicken nugget was well prepared. I love the McDonald's chicken nuggets and somehow they were able to top that. The send course is the main, which I choose The Bucket List, which comes with three pieces of the Original and three pieces of either the Soy Garlic or Gochujang Glaze. I chose Soy Garlic. These were alright. I wasn't really impressed with either for a spot that is hyped up to be the best fried chicken. You probably could have just went to BB.Q Chicken in K-town and got the same thing for the same quality, more quantity and for a lot cheaper. The side sauces that comes with the original was a nice touch however. Along with the main course, this also came a choice between four different sides: Spicy Tteokbokki, Mac & Cheese, Coleslaw, and Beef Tallow French Fries. I unregrettably got and consumed the entire Beef Tallow French Fries. There were also other various side dishes that came with the main, which I picked here and there. Lastly, they served a cup of Soft Serve Frozen Yogurt with seasonal fruit. It was a good way to end the meal Along with the meal, I made my bill more expensive as I really wanted to try their famous "The Egg" drink (yes, I secretly drank on the job). The presentation was pretty and I had to resist drinking this soo quickly as you're supposed to let "the egg" melt as that's the alcohol. Tasted great and worth the splurge. Well there you go, that's my experience. It's one of those try it once to say that you tried it. They have COQODAQ as a parent restaurant, and here they have a Golden Chicken Nugget ($100!) dish that includes caviar and creme fraiche - which they ran out of until 5p. I mean, signature dish and all -- how do you plan so poorly that you don't have enough? Secondly the regular chicken nuggets - chicken was good quality, but the rice flour outside was terrible (overcooked oil flavor, and very greasy), and the three dipping sauces - the Gochujang BBQ: was a terrible mix of the two -- should be just plain BBQ or with Gochujang, but together they made a bitter-spice-sour mix, the honey mustard was sharp and no sense of sweet, and the third- if it was CQDQ Verde or pepper -- not great if I couldn't tell the difference, it was still terrible. Whatever seedless oil they're using to cook the nuggets in was too used, it tasted like old oil to me. The CQDQ stand at the US Open's Food Village offers chicken wings and a package of six chicken nuggets and three sauces for $26. Includes 3 meager pieces of pickled radish. $100 for six chicken nuggets and a 30-gram tin of Petrossian caviar, with more than 100 caviar orders placed a day for the Godl Nuggets when they have them. Loved my experience at Cocodaq. It's a very different experience: When you enter there are two sinks and a soap bar. You have a variety of soap options, and they're likely the best you'll ever use. First we were seated at the high tables, but they're too narrow and are shared with other parties. The manager was kind enough to find us a different table even though it was extremely busy. Very much appreciated that. We ordered multiple chicken bucket lists and the fish and chips. The chick was fantastic and we tried the original, soy garlic, and Gochujang sauce. All were very good, but the original and Gochujang were probably my favorites. The Mac and cheese was also very good. It was al dente and wasn't overly cheesy like a lot of versions are these days. The best way to describe this place is a fried chicken restaurant set in a clubbing nightlife vibe. I feel the main reason you'd come here is if you're looking for a party vibe while eating rather than coming here for the food itself. Let me start by saying that the food is really good and that alone is a good reason to come here. The caviar nugget's are just luxury all in one bite and the fried chicken is really crispy and juicy. You get an assortment of sauces that you can add to the chicken to give it different flavors that are common in regular chicken spots. The waiter was really helpful in explaining the menu but the part that knocks this place down a point for me is the wait and actually getting service after ordering. Good thing is that we got some nuggets as an appetizer but it took upwards to probably 30-40 minutes to get our fried chicken. If you are enjoying drinks and socializing in a party aspect then I feel like this time would fly by faster. The place does look really nice and is nice with its dimly lit lighting, but the thing I'd note is that it is really loud. It's just like you're in a club where you have to try and scream over the loud music in order to talk to each other but I think that's part of the aesthetic. The ambiance here is great! Very fun and the interior is so pretty. We had a reservation Saturday night and were seated a few minutes after arriving. We were a party of 5 and shared the bucket list which comes with their fried chicken, kimchi, coleslaw, tteokbokki, sauces and soft serve at the end. We also ordered Mac and cheese, chicken and curry, and fries as additional sides. The quantity was great and very filling for all of us. Luxury chicken I don't think I would've tried this restaraunts if not for restaraunt week. I love that the restaraunt week menu is much more accessible $60 pp for lunch monday-friday. It sucks they don't offer this menu for dinner but I get it You can tell it's not your average McD chicken nugget. Coqodaq chicken is scrumptious and juicy. Honestly, this is a bit of a conflicting review to write, but overall, if you know what you're paying for, Coqodaq is worth checking out. From a high-level perspective, this place is pretty much a full 5-star experience. You're paying for a high-end, trendy atmosphere, incredible service, and unmatched food presentation. If you get the Chicken Bucket list, even the pacing of 5 course meal is super well thought out. Where it gets tricky to review is the food value for the price tag. If you took the price out of the equation and strictly looked at the food, yes, it's excellent Korean fried chicken. So let's go course by course: 1) Chicken Broth Starter: completely sets the tone. This small drink is clear, clean, and flavor-packed as possible. 2) Sides & Banchan: The meal comes with delicious banchan and a complementary salad that really helps balance out the fattiness of the fried food. 2) First Chicken Course (Plain): The plain chicken on its own was actually our favorite. It really highlights the quality of the chicken, the breading, and the oil without anything being masked by heavy sauces. Tteokbokki is served and adds a nice spicier element to the table. 3) Second Chicken Course (Sauced): We tried both the soy garlic and gochujang. The sauces were definitely delicious, but to be fair, nothing groundbreaking compared to the flavors you can get at your typical go-to Korean fried chicken spots. 4) Perilla cold noodles: A light, delicious finisher to balance out from the heavier food. 5) Dessert: You finish with a frozen Greek yogurt ice cream topped with a passion fruit purée. I really appreciated this--doing a lighter, healthier dessert at the end was super thoughtful to offset the heavy, fried meal. Overall.... 4 stars. Individually, all of these food items are comparable to delicious dishes you can get at other Korean spots that don't offer the 5-star ambience or elevated service. What Coqodaq is doing is taking fried chicken--which usually isn't seen as a high-end food--and trying to elevate it as much as humanly possible. We went for the brunch tasting menu for $53/person (The Brucket List™) and it wasn't quite Michelin level but intrigued us enough that we'd try again. We went there with a reservation and were unfortunately late to arrive. So we lost our table and after a long wait were seated at the bar. We ordered our drinks which weren't average looking or named - I will admit. Mine was "The Egg" and had an egg looking fruit? inside it. The food came one after another, and was explained well by the staff. We thought the flavors in most were good but not great. There were only 2 standout dishes for us the rilettes and the lettuce salad. The rest were presented well but had some missing element so they failed to "wow" us. Coqodaq takes Korean fried chicken to the next level. I can't believe it's gluten free! It's the best possible place to bring your gluten free friends. Definitely do the set menu when you're there. It comes with an enormous amount of fried chicken for the price. It's an insane value. The chicken was hot, crispy, and perfectly brined. They course out the chicken so that you start with the sauced and end with the plain with condiments on the side. My favorite sauce was definitely the passion fruit honey mustard- it was excellent. It usually comes with the coconut shrimp, so ask for it when you're there. We also got both the truffle nugget and the caviar nugget. Both are excellent but if you have to pick, caviar all the way. One of my favorite parts of the experience was the handwashing station when you walk in. They have *all* the fancy hand soaps, like Baccarat Rouge 540. It's a very swanky start and leaves your hands clean to enjoy fried chicken the right way. If you're a fried chicken aficionado, this is your new favorite restaurant. Cocodaq is a solid 4 if you're looking for a fancy place with good ambience, good service, and solid tasting food with a Korean flare. The food here is sort of a more whimsical play on Korean bar food. Though well executed, one should not expect authentic Korean flavors. For example, the teobokki was smothered in a sauce that resembled a sweet chili sauce that its authentic gochugaru counterpart. It's definitely worth trying for funsies, but it's not somewhere I would revisit. The price is simply too heavy for what it actually is - the caviar nugget included. Coqodaq is a bustling upscale Korean fried chicken restaurant. For me, it seems a little odd to pair an upscale restaurant with fried chicken. In any case, we were a party of 6 and visited yesterday. We ordered 2 fried chicken buckets, 1 with original fried chicken and 1 with chicken glazed with teriyaki sauce. The chicken was meticulously surrounded with bon chon (pickled vegetables and scallion salad). Also included were egg souffle and chicken broth. We also ordered side orders of mac and cheese and onion rings. The original fried chicken was the best I've ever tasted - crisp and crunchy on the outside, and moist and tender in the inside. The teriyaki chicken, while just a step below, was still very delicious. The mac and cheese and onion rings likewise were exceptional. Our meal was ample for our party, and was topped off with complimentary frozen yogurt. Besides the food, on the plus side was the beautiful decor, and stellar customer service. Our waitress was outstanding, and servers came by regularly to fill our water glasses. On the negative side, I'm not sure about the choice of background music. Also, the noise level was deafening, so much so that we could not hear each other talk. Finally, value - for some people, money is no object. For others, you have to think about what you get vs. the cost. Our bill for fried chicken totalled around $374 before tip,and without drinks. I couldn't really tell if the viral Coqodaq is worth the money, but I heard the chicken was actually good, so we decided to try it out one night when we didn't feel like going out. We ordered two 5-piece buckets of chicken for $29 each, which is quite expensive because it was one wing, one drumette, one drumstick, and a couple chunks of chicken thigh (can't remember if there was breast). We also ordered the mac ($14), spicy tteokbokki ($10), and a gochujang grilled chicken bowl ($26). Without a doubt, the chicken is good, fried crispy with juicy meat inside. I enjoyed the mini squeeze bottles for trying every sauce. The variety gave us 8 different combinations with the two flavors that we ordered. Lastly, the sinks upon entrance were magnificent. The luxury soap and diffused ring light mirrors gave a preview for the elevated experience to follow. I really wanted to love this place. The space is stunning, the service was genuinely great, attentive without being overbearing, and the original fried chicken? Legitimately delicious. Perfectly crispy, clean, not greasy at all. The chicken alone is worth talking about. But here's the thing. The sides completely derailed the meal for me. The egg custard tasted like burnt scrambled eggs, and I kept waiting for something to pull the meal together and it just never did. Everything felt disconnected, like the chicken and each individual side were from two different restaurants that had never met. Korean fried chicken is such a specific experience and the banchan is supposed to ground it and make it cohesive. This missed that mark pretty significantly. With this much hype, I expected the whole meal to land, not just one component. When the best thing you can say is "the chicken was great," that's a problem for a place billing itself as a full dining experience. Would I come back just to eat the chicken at the bar and skip the extras? Maybe. This place is a complete and total ripoff! Firstly, the chicken nuggets were rough to eat. They were cooked inconsistently, with some pieces lukewarm and rubbery while others were properly hot. They were also really salty, and greasy instead of crispy. The applegate nuggets I make in my air fryer at home are better, as is my homemade honey mustard. None of the three dipping sauces saved them. The white sauce was salty and was unidentifiable. The BBQ sauce tasted like something off a grocery store shelf, and the honey mustard was oddly loaded with pepper. The mac and cheese wasn't any better. It was a congealed, gluey mess with barely a hint of cheese flavor. Even a box of Kraft would've been an upgrade. The food was also great. We started with a caesar salad and some onion rings. The caesar salad was served with Romaine lettuce uncut which means it's fresh. The onion rings are also really good. For the main course we had all three types of chicken. Out of the three I really enjoyed the soy-garlic glazed and the original. The chicken also comes with 4 additional sauces you can put on ranging from a CQDQ Verde (Chimichurri) , Honey Mustard, Pepper Parm, and Gochujang BBQ. I finally made it to Coqodaq after years of trying to get a reasonable reservation. It was good for sure, but not life-changing. The brunch set (with a price per person) comes with set appetizers and each person can pick their own entree. While most of the apps were on the saltier side (except for the toast), I enjoyed the kimbap and the shrimp salad. The spicy curry sauce for the croquettes was also quite tasty and I found myself using it for others as well. The hash brown was fried nicely but was a little too salty when paired with the fish. For the fried chicken, the batter was crunchy for the most part. The meat was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. I still prefer the original chicken to the soy-glazed and the gochujang. We decided to come in for basically a second dinner / large snack that night unexpectedly. It was late and they had availability and were able to seat us. Everyone was so polite and the service was excellent. We tried all the fried chicken, nuggets, fries, thighs. Just the chicken as we all wanted to taste. And next time we'll make a reservation to come back. So it was a really nice introduction. The chicken is really great. It's fried and crispy very elevated. I like the variety of sauces available. The presentation was nice as well. I also appreciated them having a place to wash your hands as you leave with luxury hand soap and hand lotion. Well, here we go. This place is Michelin-recommended, which piqued my interest from the start. As a fried chicken aficionado, I felt I needed to make the pilgrimage. For starters, despite having a reservation, we still had to wait at the bar for about 15 minutes. It wasn't a huge deal, but it's one of those things that starts the evening off a bit unbalanced. While waiting, we ordered the Kase Homemade Ginger and the "Egg" drink. My ginger ale was just "meh," but the "Egg" was truly "egg-cellent." We were finally seated in a very comfy booth, but it took another 15 minutes before we received service. Once the meal began, our first taste was the chicken broth consommé. It was nice, but nothing to write home about--just a basic, simple palate cleanser. We also ordered the High Voltage drink around this time; I have to say, the cocktails here are very tasty and well-executed. Next up were the chicken nuggets--we tried both the caviar and truffle versions. The caviar was tasty and the truffle was light and delicate. However, I must say that if I closed my eyes, I might have thought I was eating a nugget from Mickey D's. They definitely underwhelmed. Now, let's not get too disparaging, because the main selection of fried chicken was fried to perfection with a beautiful, light crunch and great flavor. The sauces were a nice touch, too. We also had the East Coast oysters, which were incredibly fresh. On the flip side, I tried the special halal cart-style chicken and rice platter, but unfortunately, it tasted like someone just ran out back and grabbed it from an actual street cart. The Mac & Cheese also underperformed; the sauce was a bit weak in flavor and somewhat soupy. For dessert, the soft-serve frozen yogurt with fruit sauce was tasty, but serving it in a little paper cup with a wooden spoon felt a bit gimmicky for this level of dining. The restaurant hits a chic vibe--complete with an entry area dedicated to hand-washing with exotic, expensive soaps and a "chic diner" dining room--but it ultimately falls short in a number of areas. I wish them continued success, but there won't be a return visit for me. That said, I'd still recommend giving it a try if you want some tasty fried chicken at an expensive price point. read more

Overprice chicken wings is what this place is! I didn't want to believe it when other people warned me about this place. It's not your classic Korean Fried Chicken texture but they are going for the flavor. I honestly don't understand the hype? Their banchan and side dishes were all mediocre and overly salty. The chicken wings are not enjoyable to eat as it's overly salty as well. I think I rather eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. It feels like an "Instagram-trap". The service is nice and the interior is classy and romantic... which is a huge contrast for a fried chicken bucket place. Maybe my negative experience was also exacerbated by the fact that the restaurant was so hot. The AC might have been broken but you really do not want to be eating fried chicken in a sweaty hot summer day in New York without much ventilation. I would not return and would not recommend at all. Went during the week with the intention of getting restaurant week on the site it only says Monday through Friday but it turns out its only lunch,which is crazy thats the most expensive restaurant week lunch other spots usually charge 30 for lunch charging 60 wild. The atmosphere was more of a club than restaurant it was so loud we had to yell to talk at the table. The expensive roe nugget tasted like McDonald's and the coleslaw like KFC. The chicken bucket "feast" was also a scam the chicken wasn't all that you are better going to ktown to get more food for less money with better taste. The spicy chicken had no spice the rice cakes were Spicer. The portions being made for 3 people when 3 people order the feast didnt seem true. The sides were small and not impressive. I still don't know exactly what was in it, but I do know one thing--I wanted a refill immediately. It was comforting, and the perfect way to start the meal. For an appetizer, we ordered the coconut shrimp with the honey mustard sauce. I'll be honest, coconut shrimp has never been my favorite, but this completely changed my mind. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and that honey mustard sauce tied everything together. Then came the star of the show--the fried chicken. I completely understand why Coqodaq is famous for it. The chicken had one of the crispiest, crunchiest coatings I've ever had, yet somehow the meat inside stayed unbelievably juicy and tender. That's not easy to pull off.
