I don't usually write reviews, but I feel like I need to warn others about my experience here. I came to this salon in November for a pedicure with Kim. Shortly after that visit, I started noticing inflammation, pain, and irritation around my toenail. At first, I thought it was just temporary sensitivity from the pedicure--but it never improved. Fast forward to now (March), and the issue has still not resolved. After looking into it and dealing with this for months, it's very clear that I developed a fungal infection, along with ongoing inflammation around the nail. This has been frustrating and honestly upsetting, because something that was supposed to be self-care turned into a long-term issue that I'm still dealing with months later. I can't say exactly what went wrong during my service, but I would strongly encourage this salon to take a closer look at their sanitation practices and tool hygiene. Situations like this shouldn't happen. This place is beautiful if you choose to come here, but please be cautious and pay attention to how tools are cleaned and handled. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I came because of good reviews and it was the worst mistake. They rushed through my service like they didn't want to deal with me. My pedicure was fine but my dip nails were awful. When I checked them she swatted my hand away. She didn't even want to remove them. Later she offered $5 off for a fake five-star review. Tried this salon with my Mom while on our hunt to replace our previous Nail salon due to customer service issues. We were greeted professionally & seated quickly. The salon is very tranquil with a spa vibe, luxury decor, & they offer acrylic here which is hard to find. There were lots of shellac & dip colors to chose from, we were offered a beverage, and I like how the stations are spaced to allow comfort for both the techs + customer. My tech, Heather, was great technically but lacked personality & seemed bothered whenever I'd reply to text msgs (mind you, I only used my free hand). Also, the manager & another tech stood at the counter staring + speaking their language for 90% of my service - then my tech would reply to them here & there so... those (2) reasons are why I'm giving 4 stars. I have been a long-time customer of Cora Cora but the experience under new ownership has been AWFUL. Pedicures have remained relatively on par, but the manicures (dip, specifically) has been atrocious. (1) The dip is SO thick that it looks visually fake and you cannot even use your own nails to clean the mess left underneath your nails (since they don't bother cleaning it up) (2) Do not listen to your nail length preferences -- files my long nice nails all the way down to the top of the finger despite me saying to just file to reshape (3) Do not listen to your nail shape preferences -- literally filed straight across, ignoring your original nail shape nail and what you verbally requested, and left it that way Incredibly disappointed and will be on the hunt for a new location. Friends share the same experience and are also on the hunt for another place. read more

Second time here and I'm really disappointed. The first time was calming and tranquil with nice enough service. This time was different. The nail tech left my nails stained and didn't clean up after she was done, leaving the stains present and my nails looking messy. I'm used to having my cuticle area done with my nail device (as in it being included) and it wasn't. Nail tech said it was $1 which seemed fine, but then the front charged $8. Which would've been meh if my cuticles looked clean. I know part of it is my own maintenance, but I look like I have left over marker stains on my cuticles and nail beds. This was in addition to a charge for "shaping" which doesn't make sense since I got a short and simple set. Oh, and also having shellac being put on (and charged for it) but never told until payment. This was on top of the tech reaching over and turning off the massage chair multiple times. It wasn't a "wait" or "try this setting." She asked for me to do a specific setting at first bc of the movement (which I obliged to, though it was kneading and not vibrations) and then continued to reach over (the control was on the opposite side from where she was working) and move my seat forward back without telling me, then doing the same with the recline (leaving my in an uncomfortable position) and then changing the setting/massage multiple times before shutting it off altogether. There was no asking, just reaching over me to do it, which bothered me almost as much if not more than the stained cuticles. Given that and the dishonesty in charges, I wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

So over this place.. I use to love this salon and lately they let me down. First time with one lady doing my nails backwards as in putting the powder on first then cutting them and constantly hitting my hand for me to "Stop moving". The manager saw i was getting frustrated and just stood over her and watched the entire time but when i pointed out things i didn't like she kept insuring they were "suppose to be like that" I just gave up and said i wouldn't go to her again. Shame on me for coming back here today, I told the lady "short but not to short" and she already started to cut without asking me, i usually go to this lady so i trusted her and didn't think they were that short at first but after she started to file i noticed they got shorter.. It was to late for me to even say anything as the powder was already on with a cut as well. Never coming back here again i feel ripped off and this salon went down hill even the acrylic dividers they have are dirty. read more

Shout out to Helen (did my pedicure) and Nancy (did my shellac manicure) for doing an amazing job! They were both very meticulous about first cleaning my nails carefully and ensuring the polish was applied perfectly. Also, last time I came here my shellac lasted 2 months without chipping :D Bora Bora is a very clean place and they quickly provide service. However, don't expect to have enough time for a full mani/pedi if you get there at 6:30PM because they close at 7PM, and they need at least an hour to finish the job. The spa water they provide is fresh and fruity which is a treat. Overall, they provide exceptional service and would highly recommend coming here. I tried out one other nail salon a few times to make sure I wasn't judging them too harshly, but LUCKILY found Cora Cora and was able to give up my search! The owner, Kim, is so attentive and knowledgeable. She is really great at managing the salon and her staff. She also ensures everything is COVID-safe, which is a plus. I went in to try them for the first time but I did not stay. I wanted to get a full set with shellac and a pedicure. The cost was going to be $50 for my nails (A little high)but that not why I left. They were going to charge me $7 to take my nails off. I refuse to pay to have my nails removed. How are you suppose to get a full set put on without taking the old one off??? Cypress is overrun with mediocre nail salons, so I was thrilled to learn that one of my favorite spas from Houston was opening on the NW side of town. Bora Bora takes the time to correctly do all the little things -- cuticle trimming, neck/shoulder massage, heated neck pillows and warm towels, shea butter heel treatments with each pedicure, pink Himalayan rock salts, deep tissue stone leg massage, and friendly, competent technicians make for an overall pleasurable experience that surpasses the usual "strip center" nail salon routine. Amy provided me with a beautiful powder-dip manicure. The salon is exceptionally clean (nail buffers are thrown away after each use; heel scrapers, if chosen for use, are meticulously sanitized), and the chairs and tubs are lovely. I'm usually happy coming to this place even though they are over priced compared to other salons nearby. Today will be the last time I come here though.. I had a signature pedicure which cost $34.00 and the lady cut me twice. Not once did she apologize, instead she tried to cover it up and when I told her to stop cutting because she was cutting too deep and cut my actual toes all she did was smirk and ask if it hurt?!
