Don't be fooled by the name of this place. They carry both salt and fresh water fish here. In the past, I think they only sold salt water fish but fresh fish are available. Not only that, all fish are healthy and happy. You won't see dead fish decaying away. This place is very spacious downstairs for salt water fish and upstairs for fresh water fish and all your fish tank needs. Staff are excellent too. They're helpful and friendly. Their water filtering system is quite interesting. All tanks are connected with white plastic pipes that gets filtered out at the end of the each row. Parking is free. They're located across from Safeway and under the freeway.

This is an iconic local aquarium store known for their saltwater and freshwater fish. It's in a warehouse and there is no AC. Freshwater fish, tanks for sale, and supplies are upstairs. Saltwater fish and the cashier are downstairs. There is a lot more variety of fish here at decent prices. Except if you want saltwater fish they start at $12 and go above $150. But that's saltwater for you it's generally a more expensive hobby. Not too much selection in live plants surprisingly. They don't have the best lighting there over the tanks which would help showcase the fishes' colors better. At home under my LED lights the fish colors are more vibrant. Big difference! The staff was helpful steering us away from aggressive cichlids as I'm trying a community tank. We got an amazing yellow gourami who is now the star of the tank.

Thank you Coral Fish Hawaii! (45 gal tall)

These guys are AMAZING! I'm new to this and I told them my tank setup and which fish I was interested in. They took the time to explain why certain fish can't go with each other and showed me similar looking fish to consider. They have some beautiful (and expensive) fish and I was able to get everything I came for. My tank is happy and healthy and I can't wait for this community to grow

A mom and pop fish store which I enjoyed going to while I lived in the islands. Downstairs is saltwater fish which are caught locally or shipped from places the Christmas Island or Phillipines. Upstairs is the supplies for the tanks from decoration, food, fish tanks and everything freshwater. The owners looks mean but they can be nice if you actually know your fish and not ask stupid questions because it irritates them in my opinion. I don't know what happened but the prices of the tanks went up. I like to support local fish stores but that price was ridiculous when I went to see how much it was. Anyways, parking is ok I mean depending when you go, couple vehicles could double park or if the boat comes in on the weekends. Customer service seems ok, they let you look around first before asking if you need assistance.

These guys are great. They have a good selection of fish fresh and saltwater. I like them because of their nice selection of mbuna and other African cichlids. Staff is knowledgeable. Only downfall is they're a bit expensive. Some items like the aqua clear 110 HOB filter is about $120 more in store when online it's only about $80. But you pay for the convenience.

Photos of the 'brand new' fish tank they sold us. This place is so shady!

Super nice staff. Lots of fish and supplies. Some stuff cheaper at bigger box stores but i like to support small businesses.

Not your usual aquarium store layout with most tanks on one side of the store while accessories and food aisles dominate the square footage, but tank-maintenance, small pet, and reptile wise, they have a lil bit of everything you need. It's all there. I was looking for more aquatic plant additions, shrimp, and loaches for my tanks when the owner informed they get re-stock and new shipment every Tuesday. I ended up leaving with male guppies, Molly's, and some homemade beef jerky (which was 10/10 btw) that auntie at the register offered instead. Don't know anything about the "smell" mentioned in earlier reviews because there wasn't one, not even the pet store kind that's expected. On the subject of earlier reviews, as far as service goes - it was busy since it was a Saturday and no one was rude or unhelpful to us considering we came in a big group with teens and kids, an age range famously known for wandering around with zero spacial awareness for others. They could have been annoyed or impatient about that alone, but they were accommodating given the size of the store. One staff member entertained my kid-sister's questions and requests while simultaneously helping others and cleaning the tanks. An example for you. For being a local family owned business since the 80s, I don't think over-the-top service is necessary. But I have a soft spot for small local business owners, so what do I really know? They keep the community alive. It gives them their own character. I doubt a 3 or less star review would negatively impact these long standing businesses anyway. But that's because I live in reality. I'll be returning every other Tuesday after they've acclimated/quarantined the last weeks new shipments. The location beats having to go Kalihi or Town if you live in nearby neighborhoods. Love that.

I think it's a bit less species variety overall than maybe the fish shops in Kalihi and the aquarium concepts shop nearby in mapunapuna, but a bit more selection of fancy guppies at the same time. The big-brain flower horns, discus, some display tanks, and axolotls were a cool surprise. Some of the resident loaches were huge, especially the albino dojo near the front! Too bad I forgot to take a photo. That thing must be like a foot long and a decade old, and maybe as thick around as a portuguese sausage. Huge hump of fatty muscle along its back. I'd been wanting to check this place out! It definitely is a little cramped and cluttered looking inside and the smell is a little strong, but not too bad. There was a long-gone hollow goldfish staring at the sky, that gave me small-kine jump scare when I squat down to look at a tank. It was just randomly drying out at the bottom of a bucket in the aisles, which was, uh... anyways. I wanted to know more about an unlabeled and unpriced freshwater plant that somewhat resembles seaweed, so the buff dude grabbed a handful to show to the cashier lady at the front. The buff dude was attentive and personable throughout my visit, and did his best to answer questions about the fish, which I appreciated. The cashier lady though, she mumbled a name but I don't think she knew the plant that well and didn't write it down either. What she was somehow very sure about was the price, lol... just plainly stated the price for a clump is $7.99, though the tank of plants above it were organized in much neater clumps, and advertised at $5.99 each. Not only that, she had to step down from the cashier box to get her hands wet, and manually separate the handful of plant that the man grabbed. Started as a healthy, natural looking clump that would fit nicely in an 8 oz container, and she tore it in half. So, now it's small enough that it fits in the palm of your hand! Did she think to wash her hands first after handling cash and coins all morning? Nahh... But she was very insistent to him that he was definitely (and arbitrarily) holding two clumps, not one! She knew I wanted to buy it, and I'd already got a few pricier fish in my cart, so I guess she felt I could afford to cough up an extra few bucks. Yeah can, just don't think that I don't notice the grubbing... Business goes on as usual. I needed to get on with my errands that morning and eh, the shop has some local mom-and-pop vibes so I gave it a pass.

I asked that Maddie only receive a bath, blow dry, and nail trim (no haircut), and Christina followed every instruction perfectly, including using Maddie's special shampoo. Maddie came back looking beautiful! Extra fluffy, fresh, not matted at all, and most importantly, calm and in great spirits. What really stood out was Christina's kindness and genuine care. She took time to talk with me before and after the appointment, never made me feel rushed, and clearly treats the pets she works with like they're her own. The treats were such a sweet touch too! When I called ahead, I specifically asked if there were any requirements or documentation needed, and I was told no because Hawaii does not require rabies documentation. When I arrived, they asked if my dog had any allergies, and I explained that he does not, but he does experience seizures occasionally. The woman at the counter with long hair and a ponytail spoke with the manager, and I was then informed they could not groom him because of the seizures. They asked if he was on medication, which he is, and whether the seizures were triggered by noise, which they are not. I explained they only happen every few months. While I understand policies are policies and I did not argue their decision, it was frustrating to find this out only after arriving for the appointment. The manager did provide me with a recommendation for another groomer, which I appreciated. The manager answered my questions and gave me options for types of trimmers that I could use at home. However, the customer service afterward was what truly disappointed me. I mentioned I no longer wanted my other dog groomed but was interested in purchasing nail trimmers. The manager asked an employee to assist me. The employee walked away, and I followed her, but then lost sight of where she went. I eventually found her sitting at the front of the store waiting for someone else to bring the item. When she finally acknowledged me, she simply said, "Oh, I'm waiting for them to bring it to me." The issue was not the wait itself, it was the lack of communication. I was left standing there confused, having to look for the employee, only to find her sitting down without ever telling me what was going on. Overall, this experience could have been handled much better with clearer communication and stronger customer service.
