After visiting multiple shops around the island to get some fish for my tank, i decided to check yelp if there were any actually fish stores. Luckly, i was able to find Coral Fish Hawaii. At first i thought it was only salt water fish because of their name. After some research they sell both. They have two floors; the bottom is for saltwater fish and the top is for freshwater fish. Supplies, tanks, and food etc are also sold here. Staff are walking around checking the tanks and on customers if they need any help. We decided to get some loaches for our tank and we were helped immediately. Staff was pretty quick to bag the fish and we were on our way. We came on a Sunday and we were able to spin a wheel to receive a discount which was pretty awesome. Lots of fishes to choose for you tank so don't hesitate to stop by if you need any. read more

Pretty cool place. Knowledgeable staff. Clean and neat and lots of food fish and plants as well as aquarium "furnishings" to choose from. Easily found on Moanalua Road. Decent prices and tons of parking. Hours have updated since May 1, 22. Now open 10:00-4:00 pm Saturday/Sunday. Closed on Monday's. Check the photos. They have an array of puffer fish- hubbies fave. There are much more fresh water fish than salt water but I half expected tray. Salt water fish aren't easy to find or care for. All the fish are beautiful and affordable. Salt water fish are on the first floor. Fresh water fish and plants on second floor. Best creature I saw today were Seahorses. Amazing. Don't be fooled by the name of this place. They carry both salt and fresh water fish here. In the past, I think they only sold salt water fish but fresh fish are available. Not only that, all fish are healthy and happy. You won't see dead fish decaying away. This place is very spacious downstairs for salt water fish and upstairs for fresh water fish and all your fish tank needs. Staff are excellent too. They're helpful and friendly. Their water filtering system is quite interesting. All tanks are connected with white plastic pipes that gets filtered out at the end of the each row. Parking is free. This is an iconic local aquarium store known for their saltwater and freshwater fish. It's in a warehouse and there is no AC. Freshwater fish, tanks for sale, and supplies are upstairs. Saltwater fish and the cashier are downstairs. There is a lot more variety of fish here at decent prices. Except if you want saltwater fish they start at $12 and go above $150. But that's saltwater for you it's generally a more expensive hobby. Not too much selection in live plants surprisingly. They don't have the best lighting there over the tanks which would help showcase the fishes' colors better. At home under my LED lights the fish colors are more vibrant. Big difference! The staff was helpful steering us away from aggressive cichlids as I'm trying a community tank. We got an amazing yellow gourami who is now the star of the tank. read more

I really like coming to Coral fish Hawaii because I have a lot of fish in my backyard. Most of my fish are mixed, but when there is a nice one I try to breed them and that's when I come to coral fish. They have a huge variety of fish, and two floors (second floor closing soon). There are saltwater and freshwater fish, and luckily for me there is a lot of guppy's on sale. They have some really nice ones, and you can also sell your fish to them. The staff is nice, and the inside is pretty spaced out. 5 stars overall. read more

I just build a 100 gallon pond and came here to find some fish and aquatic plants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have unique fishes that you. Any find anywhere else, they also have a large variety to choose from, they also have salt water fish. The only thing is some products are over-priced for example the rocks was at $9.99/lbs at 6 pounds which is $54 for one rock, they also had branches for reptiles at $39.99 for medium. I was mostly excited about their aquatic plants, some of them were under $5.00 and their water lettuce at $1.99. Definitely go here is you want rare fish! read more

These guys are AMAZING! I'm new to this and I told them my tank setup and which fish I was interested in. They took the time to explain why certain fish can't go with each other and showed me similar looking fish to consider. A mom and pop fish store which I enjoyed going to while I lived in the islands. Downstairs is saltwater fish which are caught locally or shipped from places the Christmas Island or Phillipines. Upstairs is the supplies for the tanks from decoration, food, fish tanks and everything freshwater. The owners looks mean but they can be nice if you actually know your fish and not ask stupid questions because it irritates them in my opinion. I don't know what happened but the prices of the tanks went up. I like to support local fish stores but that price was ridiculous when I went to see how much it was. Anyways, parking is ok I mean depending when you go, couple vehicles could double park or if the boat comes in on the weekends. I stopped by coral fish hawaii because I wanted to buy a few guppies for a small acrylic fish tank I had sitting around. Plus, I love supporting local businesses that have been around for decades. the prices were decent, the store was clean, but the customer service from the young sales associate upstairs was subpar. I asked the young man several questions regarding how to care for the guppies. However, he could only give me vague/yes or no answers. For example, I asked him "what can I feed them?" He answered "anything." I brought over the kelp flakes, and he answered "nope not that." It was apparent that I didn't have any knowledge of how to take care of them, yet he couldn't tell me how to get them acclimated to the water, etc. (Simple info that could've been written in a pamphlet. Honestly, I could've googled it, but I find it more time effective to ask an expert. Therefore, I got the impression that there wasn't anything I had to do other than put the fish into the water and feed them.) In total, I bought 3 guppies for ~$17 total that died within less than 24hrs. A few days later I went to Petco, and I had a great experience. The sales associate was a marine biologist, and she was more than willing to answer my simple questions with patience and tact. She also let me know that any of the fish that die within 30 days can be replaced/refunded. I did try to let Coral Fish Hawaii know of this incident, and they were apologetic over the phone. However, they could only offer me a discount if I went back. I already spent/wasted my money on fish that died less than a day later. I rather not chance buying more fish from them only to be once again disappointed. Honestly, only writing this review in hopes that they can improve their policies, recruit more professional workers, and take serious action because I have fond memories of going their as a kid. I hope small local businesses can stay open even during these rough economic times when people can easily go to big box stores, such as Petco. read more

Maybe because I go to the freshwater section which you can tell is regarded as a low brow hobby if their haphazard set up is any indication. They do have a variety of fish and supplies that Petco and the like will not carry. Still, they have a paltry selection of aquatic plants, and as far as freshwater fish go, stock is also pretty lean besides a pretty good stock of cichlids. I always want to go and support them because they're local and provide a service for fish keepers but as their name might indicate, their focus really is more on saltwater. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Do not go to this fish store! I wish I could give no stars, but yelp doesn't allow that. The owner thinks he is the only fish store in town and that you must give him your business. Not anymore! We bought a 60 gallon frameless cube fish tank and stand. We spent a lot of money and we're excited to get home and set up. After making space in the house, we brought the wrapped tank upstairs and quickly realized is was NOT brand new (the upstairs in the store has poor lighting so we didn't realize). The silicone was messy and it had obviously been remade. Then when we called, they asked us to figure it out with the manufacturer. They could care less and didn't even return our calls. That means they sold us a broken tank for about $1,000 and then get to resale it again because the manufacturer will send us a new one. WTH. Problem is they never followed through so now we are working with Marineland directly (who is great) to find a different store to work with... We do not want this to happen to another customer! Besides Brandon being nice to us in the store, the whole experience was horrible. Go visit The Pet Depot in Ewa Beach! They may not have a huge selection, but they are friendly and knowledgable- and they will help you find what you need! Healthy fish, fun to look at the different species, and military Mondays! What's not to like? My fave is watching the harlequin shrimp and hermit crabs. Tanks are clean and not gross like at other places. Sometimes hard to find a worker to help but once you get one, they are great! When my bf and I come here, we usually purchase feeder fishes. The prices are super cheap We bought 15 for $9.45 and they were quite big. Kunia Walmart sells feeder fishes too but they cost 51 cents and they are usually really tiny. They also look unhealthy (they were swimming like they were drunk) opposed to Coral Fish fishes. They also have smaller feeder fishes (same size as Walmarts) but way cheaper too. If you want a variety of freshwater (upstairs) or salt water fish (ground floor) as a pet, come here. I don't know much about sea creatures but I know that they sell all sorts of fishes such as baby koi's, gourami's, tiger barbs, sea horses, and oscars. Really, they have a decent amount. read more

I bought the wrong sized gravel, and had misplaced the receipt. I called to ask if I could exchange it for a bigger sized gravel and a bigger sized bag but was told, no. I understand return policies as I've worked in retail for many years. Although I didn't have the receipt and may have passed the 30 day return window it was still in resalable condition and it had their price tag labeled on it, which clearly identified it was their product . The bottom line was I wanted to give them "more" business in exchange for leniency on their strict return policy. I prefer to give my business to small local businesses but if this is the way you chose to conduct business, Petco & Amazon here I come. Although there are usually spots to find, the spots directly near this store are weird in that they are double parking (one car behind the other). Coral Fish is the best place on the island for tropical fish. We've had a number of tanks over the years and this has been our source for outfitting and maintaining them. The staff is great, super knowledgable and helpful, and the selection of fish and plants and supplies is terrific. The most comprehensive selection of aquariums, decorations, freshwater fishes and plants on island. **check the videos posted to this Yelp business page to see examples of the fish purchased here. I am able to find rare and unusual fish tank decorations and freshwater species upstairs. To name a few, this is one of the few remaining pet shops to carry the black ghost knife, a variety of freshwater eels and puffer fish, as well as the royal pleco. The freshwater plants are maintained in a clean environment with CO2 and flowing water. Since there aren't any fish kept in those tanks, I can rest assured these can be introduced to my tank without an issue of fish disease hitching a ride. I recently purchased a school of glass catfish to accompany my other survivor from another pet shop. The staff was very patient and helpful throughout the week in helping me evolve my community tank to the next level. They shared a free aquascaping look book with me, and made specific recommendations on how to better plant my 20 gallon long. read more

I purchased 3 green chromis, 1 humu and 1 golden pilot. I acclimated all fish before putting into there new home. All fishes were good except the golden pilot. It died not even 12 hours of having the fish. Called up Coral fish and let them know what happened, the guy told me theres no guarentee and theres nothing they can do for me. I asked him i only had the fish not even one day, can they atleast give me another fish instead. I paid 80 dollars for that fish and it died right away. I told them if they can give me another fish thats atleast half the price. He told me know because they will be losing money. 40 dollars really, i just lost 80 for a sick fish. Thanks alot, but beware of buying fishes from here as theres no guarentee and fishes are expensive. read more

They had one sad goldfish they had a almost non existent selection of fresh water fish on the 2nd floor and a very small selection of salt water fish on the ground floor. Also not many selections of tanks and the supplies look very bare as well. I dunno I wanna hope that I came on an off day .... I'll come back eventually and give it another try because maybe this is a covid situation. read more

OK getting here is a pain in the bu!!tt!! I tried to look up this place on Yelp and on line to see if I could get directions better. (I should have called but I didn't thinking I could go and do it.) I saw the picture of the store front on the website- ok time to go. I drove and I am half way familiar with the Pearl Ridge mall but I got turned around in heavy traffic and ended up in Waikeli- ok stop at sports authority and see if I can find a different item I wanted. Back on the road and stop in at Safeway nearby to see if I can see it - as I pasted it twice again. OK back to just drive to where I think it is and ask pizza hut where it is- okhhhh as I parked and got out I turn and see the storefront picture- not a sign or anything that would tell me the name but I get it. Inside is clean clean clean water salt water tanks with a wide array of fish. Upstairs is clearly labeled for fresh water fish. One or two steps into the store and I am promptly greeted, asked how I am, and how she can help me and if I have any questions at all to just feel free to ask. Wonderful customer service! Again I can not express how well organized and trained the staff are to answer questions or get an answer for a need for the customer. The tanks are cleaner than I would have ever imagined- filtered water is constantly flowing in each tank making each fish home look perfect. I trust the health of the fish immediately. Cool sights, brine shrimp doing their thing- starfish moving in a tank up the glass wall- eels coming out of coves- shrimp walking- snails- balloon fish- and plenty more fish. High end fish aquarium equipment is there and it has a bigger selection than a petco fish section. Other than the location signage= need to make it known on the side of the road what stores are inside the warehouse area, the store is perfect for any fish enthusiasts. Watch what the open hours are so that you aren't in a rush- Feel free to give them a call and see if they can get what you want or need- they seem so happy to be able to help anyway they can. I hate giving 1 star reviews and the only reason this review is getting 2 stars is because they helped us get a bunch of bettas for our wedding centerpieces. I recently moved from Hawaii to Seattle and was desperately looking for someone who would be able to ship my fish to me. Yes, you read that right - I was not moving unless my fish could come with me too. I have 4 koi fish that I raised since they were 1" babies. They're now 3 years old and quite large. We were referred to Coral Fish by the airlines so hubby called first and spoke to Randy. He told him that it won't be a problem. Awesome! I had some questions so I called a few days later and spoke to Randy again. I was concerned that we would need time to set up a tank at our new place so I wanted to know if they were able to hold the fish for a few days before sending them out. I let him know when we would be leaving and he didn't seem to have a problem with the dates at the time. He just said he needed to check with his wife, since she's the one that handles it, and to call back in a few days. Called back a few days later and was told Randy was out and would be back later so I asked the woman on the phone to leave a message for him. I told her to let him know that I was the one he spoke to about shipping my fish. When he finally called me back, he sounded confused, as if he didn't remember me. I had to tell him the story all over again and he gave me the same answer about needing to check with his wife and to call back again in a few days. I reminded him of the departure date and he again didn't seem worried about it. I was already beginning to get frustrated since our departure date was slowly creeping up and I wanted to make sure everything was squared away for our move. So fine, I called back in a couple days again and he kinda seemed to remember me, but I still needed to go over the details with him again. I mean, is it not important enough to you that you didn't write this info down? I understand if he didn't do it the first time, but this is the fourth time we contacted him already! Then he tells me that he's going on vacation and there's no way that they can hold my fish until he gets back because it will take away from their retail tanks. On top of that, he wouldn't guarantee their survival while in his care since he would have to hold them there until he gets back. WTF??? First he's totally fine with my dates, then he says his wife is the one that will handle it and now all of a sudden, he's the ONLY one there that can handle it and he won't even be there when I need them shipped. I mean, why wouldn't you say something in the very beginning about this? So I'm pretty furious at this point and he tells me that he'll check with his wife again and to call back in a couple days. OMGWTFBBQ!!! This same answer again? I said to myself, screw it, I'll find someone else to do it. And I did. For anyone who ever needs their fish shipped, go see Ryan and Ian at THE PET DEPOT. They were so amazingly helpful, held my fish in one of their retail tanks and shipped them to me no problem. My fish arrived happy and healthy and are currently enjoying their new home. read more

I went upstairs to their freshwater floor and found a lot of fish equipment with a good selection of freshwater fish. This store is big with two floors. I purchased my entire setup here. Tank, sand, salt to start up, live rock, and inverts to begin the cycle. After the cycle I couldn't wait to show up at the shop and start my new "personal ocean" for my living room. The fish look happy and healthy. Didn't see any malnourished animals leaving me to believe I can trust this place for my aquarium needs. CORAL FISH HAWAII SOLD US SICK FISH & WONT GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!!!!! My husband & I bought 3 cichlids from Coral Fish Hawaii. After releasing the 3 fish into our tank, I immediately noticed that they would "scratch" their body's on our driftwood decor. My husband took notice to white spots on their body's called "ick". That's on day 1. We isolated the fish into a smaller tank and started Ick treatment. Day 2: two fish are dead, what do you do when fish die? Flush it. And then on day 3, the last fish dies..... My husband calls the store on day 3 after flushing the last fish and they said we need to bring in the dead bodies & they will give us store credit..... yes guys, he told the lady that he already flushed them, and she said there's nothing they can do for us. So thanks Coral Fish for selling us SICK FISH & keeping our $35+! I GET IT, ITS COVID TIMES. BUT I LOSE MONEY, AND GET NO FISH. So of course I'm gonna be irritated.... read more

This is my new favorite store! I seriously felt life a kid in a candy store here. I have had fresh water tanks my entire life, but decided to be adventurous and start up my first salt water tank. The people here have given me a lot of great advise for getting started. My tank is up and running for 2 weeks now and I am enjoying watching my hairy hermit crab and blue damsel explore the tank. We've had multiple fish tanks for years, both fresh and salt water so we've been coming hear for years. They carry a wide range of products to start or maintain a tank their prices are comparable to a lot of other places but yet they carry some items the big pet/fish stores don't.
