3.5 stars for Coral Sushi. There are a lot of positives to say about the service and decor but I left feeling that the food and price point were not worth it and overall I'm not sure this would be a spot I would frequent again, not for awhile. Starting with the positives this restaurant is darling and they did a fabulous job on the decor. When I walked in I was impressed with how nicely this space was styled and felt very spacious inside. Great decor and plenty of seating. Another bonus is that they have outdoor seating with warmer lamps making it a great spot to dine in the cooler evenings. Service was also super friendly and welcoming. I opted for a to go order from here and when I called in the gal who helped me on the phone was super sweet and clear in her communication. I appreciated that when I came the food was ready for me right when they said it would be. Upon paying at the front the service continued to be hospitable and friendly. Nice people work here and they definitely appreciate your business. Unfortunately this sushi spot is pretty pricey comparable to other spots nearby. Presentation was beautiful and initially had me okay paying a little extra $$ as the rolls were pretty and serving size cuts of fish were good but the flavors were just not there. Very pricy spot to not deliver on amazing bites. One fancy roll, two orders of nigiri and two small veggie fried rices ran us $70+. I was shook. I would say the sushi was about 3/5 at best and the fried rice was 1/5. The best bites had here were just the simple salmon nigiri. Tasty but comparable to anywhere else. Disappointed that the one higher end roll we ordered tasted extremely fishy (usually implies not fresh) and it was hard to eat. The fried veggie rice was mega mega bland. Almost no flavor. We regretted getting two sides of it as one went uneaten and eventually tossed out. That says a lot as we devour our food. The rice just had no real flavor and being a veggie / no protein rice - they barely had any egg. We were bummed. Probably this spot is more 2 stars in my experience for the food but maybe it just wasn't the best time of the year to eat here with the freshness of the product or something? I still want to give three stars as the staff couldn't be nicer and it's a cute restaurant. Sorry that this newer spot on the border of La Quinta and Indio just didn't work. read more

Came to this restaurant based on multiple strong recommendations. The space is very clean and the décor is well done. Service overall was excellent--the front desk agent was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and our server was professional and attentive throughout the meal. She did however set her serving tray on our table and brought us the wrong food twice. Speaking of the food, it was underwhelming and lacked flavor. For two adults and two kids, a $200 bill feels hard to justify given the quality or lack there of. This isn't Nobu at the Tennis Gardens. Do better. read more

I was quite impressed with this place. I enjoy sushi, so this was a great restaurant for me. My friends live in Palm Springs and they chose it. I don't think I would have found it on my own. We started with the edamame and vegetable tempura. Both were delicious. Then I had the spicy sashimi bowl (which is very difficult to say, surprisingly). I finally just pointed to it and she got it. It's a pretty good size portion, and we had the appetizers (because on Monday they were half off) so it was quite a filling meal. I don't drink but Mike had the sake, and he enjoyed it. That's about all of the review I can give of their alcohol. And we were too full to even look at a dessert menu, so maybe next time. read more

Food prep: busy but trying their best but a little work to do here. Food Quality: pretty good but have to try more items to give full review. Waitstaff: learning, these are not seasoned sushi style servers but getting better with each table. Overall Value: Very expensive and not sure they are providing a good value compared to other options near by, but that will change and I will update. So after 3 times of dining at this place, I think it's time I give them the shout out they deserve. Service every single time has been spot on. They are always on top of what you want or need. Orders also come out in a timely fashion. Staff is very informed on the menu. Apps Wings 10/10 sweet spicy savory (favorite) Tempura 8/10 some pieces are a little to thick and don't get cooked in the fryer but taste is great regardless Seaweed salad 10/10 Coral special roll 10/10 tried it with purple rice and without I personally preferred the regular rice (my favorite) Hide away roll (favorite)10/10 I've tried nearly every specialty role they have to offer. They are all very fresh and have a nice sweet and savory balance to them. I even want to say the freshest in the valley as I've tried the majority of places. The sushi portions are not too big where they don't fit in your mouth and not too small they are just right. I I also really like the decor and ambiance they have both seating or table seating . I had high hopes for a new sushi find in La Quinta unfortunately it was far from positive. The decor was clean and pretty but the service and food were mediocre. To start, our server served us the wrong roll, telling us, as she set it down rather than fixing the problem. This was our first time visiting Coral Sushi and won't be our last. Service and atmosphere were great! They let us try the cucumber salad which was fresh and yummy (I'd order it next time). We decided on the Coachella Roll and the Road Runner Roll, both were very tasty. If you like a lot of sauce I would ask for extra when ordering My 6 year old with picky taste got the Teriyaki chicken with fried rice and was happy with his selection. Went for Happy Hour to check the restaurant out. Arrived just before 4. Not many in the restaurant. Friendly greeting. Sat outside. After about 5 minutes, someone came out and brought us water. Had to ask for menus. Took about another 10 minutes before our server came to take our order. Ordered a few items off the HH menu. After ordering, my wife decided she wanted to add one more item. Mentioned this to our server and another person who stopped by the table - Never saw the other item during our entire meal. Thought th prices seemed reasonable for HH, assuming we would still receive a relatively good sized portion. However, when our items arrived (minus the extra item we ordered), we received 2 pieces of sushi, one piece of tempura, and one item never showed up. For $10, the tempura was a joke - a wrap of some sort around a few tiny pieces of shrimp and some type of vegetable - not enough for even one person really... Rather shocking experience considering there were only a few at the restaurant - maybe 6 or 7 tables only with people. Food, so-so, prices steep for what we got at HH. Miso soup $6.50 at HH? We tried to go to Cork & Fork for dinner and they turned us away at 8:01pm because their last seating was at 8pm - so dumb. Their loss! We walked over to Coral Sushi and were a bit nervous because we were vegan. Our server was so helpful and instead of saying "I don't know" when asked what vegan options they had she said "I'm not sure but this is good, I'll learn which options there are" - a response showing their staff really care about their customers! We ended up ordering the veggie roll and the veggie tempura. We didn't have to modify the roll but we did have to get another sauce for the tempura - ponzu - which was perfectly fine with us. Thanks to our server (whose name we have forgotten) for being so helpful! We do appreciate it. Also, kudos to the person who answered the phone to told us they could accommodate when we had called earlier in the day. She originally said their miso soup was vegan and I got a call back from her apologizing that it was not vegan. Another plus for their staff. This is very unfortunate. We really enjoyed our first visit. This time around, we walked in and were turned away and told we had to make a reservation; even though there were 8-9 open tables. Which gave me an idea. I walked outside and made a reservation on OpenTable in 15 minutes time. When I went back in to share my newly made "reservation" I was told we would have to wait 40 minutes.
