This review comes after a terrible experience in the Palm Desert location, where I didn't even order after waiting for 45 minutes for service in a completely empty restaurant. I came to this location hoping for better service and to give the food a chance. I have been receiving ads relentlessly for the all-you-can-eat service. To my knowledge, there is no other Sushi restaurant in Coachella Valley that offers this. The restaurant is slightly nicer than the Palm Desert location, although the tables have a sticky coating on them that feels like they are permanently dirty. Overall, it looks worn down and cheap but that's not a problem for me. Knowing that they have a separate menu for the all you can eat, we asked for that menu from the start. Just know that you'll have to cross reference the sheet that you fill out to order and the full menu to know what the food items are. This is very cumbersome, as the all-you-can-eat offerings are much less than the ones in the full menu. We were most disappointed that the sashimi is not offered. For $50 per person, this should not be the case. This is where I should've known that this all-you-can-eat menu is specifically designed to fill you up with the cheap stuff. Every single item that we ordered has a ridiculous amount of rice packed into it. There's so much rice that you have to chew for at least a minute and by that time, what you are ingesting is just a ball with the texture of mochi. Extremely dense and gummy. Any flavor coming from the fish is completely erased by the rice vinegar that the rice is seasoned with. As mentioned in other reviews, you must eat all the rice and everything you order or you'll be charged. By the time we were done eating our first roll, we realized that the amount of rice made the all-you-can-eat not worth it. You're better off buying single rolls for cheaper than the price of AYCE. And if you're doing that, there are much better sushi places than this to go to for the same price. I would be amiss if I didn't mention that my gf had bones in her salmon nigiri and hand roll, and was also found in the eel. She also had to eat each piece of these rolls in several bites because the amount of rice is incredible. I also want to be fair and say that this would've been perfectly acceptable flavor-wise if there wasn't so much rice. It just completely overpowers everything once you chew it. We enjoyed their fries, gyoza, and shumai, which are appetizers and are also part of AYCE. But that's not what you should go to a sushi restaurant imo. read more

Worst customer service! Me and my boyfriend went to have dinner here and they took forever to come and j get our drinks, once they brought our drinks they got our order and that took another long time. They didn't brings us silverware so we had to wait another 10mins for them to come give us some. We had asked a lady that past by if she could bring us silverware but she never came back so we had to wait for our serve to come again! Our server was rude to us and I guess she got upset because we had to keep reminding her about the stuff she kept forgetting to bring to our table. The food has lost quality over the years. Recently went to try out the "all you can eat buffet" however they don't clearly state that EVERYONE at the table must order that. Even though one person may not want it. To add you can only order 3 separate times, so you'll have to make it worth it, but not too much because they will charge you for any left overs. Throughout the meal, I was repeatedly interrupted by the waiter, other employees, and food staff engaging me in conversation. It made it difficult to enjoy my meal, and it felt excessive. I did notify the manager during my visit, but the interruptions continued afterward. The restaurant was very empty at the time, and the music was good, which helped the atmosphere. However, seating at the counter offered little privacy--I would have preferred a booth. For the all-you-can-eat option, the menu is limited, and many items require an additional charge. There are also a lot of deep-fried options, which reduces variety. Sushi quality was average--neither bad nor outstanding. Overall, the experience was okay, but the constant interruptions and limited AYCE selection took away from what could have been a more enjoyable meal. read more

You can have appetizers, soup, salad, hand rolls, and of course regular rolls. Get this, they even have cheeseburgers, fries, and chicken wings. Food was good, I ate a lot. Absolutely one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. The quality of the sushi was well below average -- fish didn't taste fresh, and presentation was sloppy. The server was inattentive and seemed overwhelmed, rarely checking in. To top it off, they overcharge, and instead of handling it respectfully, the manager told our server to count the sushi pieces with chopsticks at the table incredibly unprofessional and embarrassing. For the prices they charge, I expected at least decent service and fresh food. Instead, I got a disappointing meal, poor service, and a manager more focused on micromanaging than making things right. Looks like some things are getting back to normal. Our every 4 to 6 week trip to the desert for necessary doctor appointment is back on. No more telephone appointments. After a little confusion over the menu and how to order, we found our waitress. The menu is touch free, all you gotta do is start to take a picture of the bar code, then the link pops up. Click the link and the menu appears. I ordered the Dinner special two item combo, since we were a bit too late for the lunch special. My dish came with; miso soup, house salad, steamed rice, gyoza dumpling, shumai dumpling, teriyaki chicken and California roll. Daughter ordered the crunchy California roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the salad dressing and the teriyaki sauce covering the chicken. I look forward to our next visit. This is the third time we visit this restaurant. Unfortunately we have noticed a substantial decline in food quality. Flavors are not there. Teriyaki chicken feels like it came out of a can and just poured teriyaki dressing on top of it. The chavela was extremely plain. You can barely feel the beer flavor. Service was ok. read more

This California roll was disgusting and disappointing. We could not even eat one bite of it. I thought I had already reviewed this place, as we've been here dozens of times, but Yelp keeps telling me I haven't so here goes: The food here is good enough that we will drive from La Quinta for it at least a couple of times a month. The prices are also very fair, and they can almost always get us in right away. We have also ordered carry-out and it's very good and a great deal for the cost. Service is excellent and very friendly. My only complaint is that the tables are sticky every time we go. It just seems like all of the the booths need a good, thorough wipe down. It was a day of adventures, which is another way of saying that I was delayed getting to my camping site. I thought I would treat myself to dinner and not have to deal with cooking in the dark. Alas, it was Valentines Day, and a poor decision for a one top to appear at a sushi restaurant. I considered bailing and getting a fish taco next door. Should have. Service was poor, confused, and inattentive. It took forty minutes to receive the soup and salad that came with the grilled mahi dinner. That only occurred because I advocated for it as my Server did not bother to keep me informed. Frankly, if I had not asked, I think she would've completely forgotten. I also ordered a salmon skin handroll. The skin was crispy and the kitchen was generous with it. On the other hand, it was lacking one of the other key ingredients touted on the menu, yamagobo, which is why I ordered it. That is pickled burdock, and it was a nice touch which conveyed something about the kitchen's intentions. The mahi was ok, once it finally arrived. I suspect that on another night, this would have been a pleasant dining experience. Before this pandemic, a responsible restaurant would have stopped accepting people once they were well beyond capacity. It's how you preserve reputation and thus long term viability. After this pandemic, I can't begrudge any business for trying to maximize its profits even at the expense of the customer experience. But that doesn't mean I need to reward them for that choice. Prepandemic, I would have given this place two stars because of the very poor experience. The food was terrible but the server was such a nice person. I still tipped them but they informed me that they don't get to keep their tips. That they have to turn them in to the manager and they only get 50% of the tip. That ridiculous. They also have underage people serving alcohol as well. As you can see my whole party ordered the same thing! So I had to try it! I dont eat sushi and am kinda scared of it but the presentation was beautiful. I had to picture all 3. Calamari was good, we tried a deep fried California roll I think it was callled. I ate half of one and enjoyed it! (First time ) I don't enjoy seaweed paper. Vegetables tempura was hot and crunchy! Shrimp tempura roll, was ordered but I got full! Chavelas were pretty bomb! Green tea ice cream was yummy! Mango tango roll is fire, I put hot sauce on mine but all the flavors together were just amazing! First time trying that roll as well. I always get the avocado roll with soy paper its my favorite! Refreshing and filling, not too heavy. Still learning about sushi and excited to try more ! Will definitely be back! Service was quick. I do think however the pre-Buss could've been a little better and No water refills, but also we never felt neglected. There was always a staff member present if needed. We went in for lunch, food was good. My daughter had sushi. I had combo lunch tempura and salmon it was good. We wanted to watch the us open tennis they had lots of tv screens. But no sports were on. We asked our server if she could put it on. She said only the manager can change the channels, he is out and takes the remote home with him. Very weird.
