Fabulous breakfasts! SO much fruit on my plate, and so beautifully plated. Staff aren't standing around, and they don't take shortcuts when bussing the tables (no one wants a sticky table with fingerprints on everything). They let me make substitutions on my meal and offered great suggestions. Staff are very attentive and friendly. I don't know what the big deal is about this place. We went here because it was close to our hotel and was crowded so I figured that was a good sign. Fruity, fruity, fruity! I am not a big fan of breakfast, but this place was different. The fresh fruit options were amazing. All in my party of 5 had some type of fruit based plate. The decor is also different but nice. The kids actually ate the fruit as well making that an extra star in it self. The waitress was really nice and the overall service was above average. Not sure if it is just me be very sensitive to not fresh food but my stomach started to hurt after a visit at Cora's. The food was not particularly tasty and the tuna sandwich was too oily. Our server is always so friendly (apologies - I don't know her name, she has longer brown hair tied into a ponytail and always has a smile on her face). This Cora is consistent with the Vancouver locations that we frequent. Even though they don't offer the early-bird specials like in Vancouver, we've become creative about mixing and matching other items on their menu. When we're in Victoria, we go here for an early breakfast at least once a week. read more

We were staying nearby so we tried breakfast this morning based on reviews. The staff were working very hard but it took 1 hour and 45 minutes of excruciating waiting to complete a simple breakfast order. There were many empty tables while this was happening. My family came here for breakfast after seeing it in an advertisement. What a great choice!!! We each ordered some thing different and tasted each other's. Everything was so fresh and delicious!! I had eggs Benedict with asparagus and Swiss cheese. Other dishes we had were French toast, crepes, pancakes with bananas and strawberries. Each plate came with a huge serving of fresh fruit. Great food, great service! We've seen the Cora's in Edmonton, but never tried it until we were on vacation in Victoria. When we arrived, we were seated promptly, and they made extra efforts to accommodate our baby stroller. The service was great, the server was prompt and friendly. Our water glasses were topped up frequently, and she had good knowledge of the menu and made good recommendations. The food was delicious! So much fruit! The portions were very generous. This place is very disorganized. They do not have enough servers and as a result the service provided is lacking. We went in when the restaurant was not very busy and somehow we did not receive our food until after at least 7 groups that arrived after us. Our servers excuse is that we ordered French toast. This was not legitimate and we would have been satisfied if the server had simply said sorry and proceeded to say she would look into why our orders were not being placed. There are plenty of non chain places in Victoria. Save yourself the time and go to any number of those places for breakfast. read more

Wait in line if they have one , trust me it is well worth it, you will be stuffed when you leave !! I had a traditional breakfast eggs, bacon, toast, FRESH fruit & pancakes (blueberry) I loved the pancakes , not the bacon I am spoiled with that maple bacon everyplace puts on now (my problem I will get over it ;) Next time trying something new and you can for years as they have so many choices it is unreal & they are only open until 3pm. My husband had the fruit crepes, he absolutely loved them and I tried them and they were awesome ! Sugar & whipped cream overload in this place , it was absolutely packed and the portions are huge !! Breakfast is usually pretty good here. Not exceptional. If I were to give a piece of advice to the manager or owner it would be, to be a little more accommodating when customers want to substitute things. Several times I've tried to substitute potatoes for more fruit or potatoes for avocado slices. It's always "sorry we can't" it's frustrating and it makes me want to explorer other options. read more

It's unfortunate that I have to say this however, until they get their act together forget about this place. Unlike the Cora's in Toronto the food may look good but it comes out cold. The fresh fruit came out unripe. We were quite disappointed and will not be back. When we spoke with the manager he said and I quote," I thought we were beyond this." This place is my families favourite! There is something for everyone and the service is great. If it's your birthday make sure to mention it for a beautiful fruit creation. I've eating the pancakes, tuna melt and an omelette. All were really good but very buttery :) read more

Worst service! I was there once on a quite morning and found it pricey but I wanted to bring my husband to give it a second try on Monday, May 6, 2013. As soon as we walked in, we noticed we were not welcome, the face on the server/host said it all, she seemed annoyed to have customers, at 7:30 am with an empty restaurant! All she said was "for 2?" and offered us the tiniest table on a corner... so we asked her if we could get a booth (as they were ALL vacant). and she walked to the booths and said "there, I just cleaned it" and handed us the menus. The table was soaking wet the paper mats mushy. I tried to dry it up with a napkin but it was ridiculous, out of all the empty tables, she offered us the worst. We left. We tried another breakfast restaurant on Fort Street and Quadra... waaaay better, it was a lovley day and enjoyed a window view. Both of us have worked in the hospitality industry for years (restaurants, fine dining, hotels) and this treatment is unnacceptable. This person clearly chose the wrong career path and this new restaurant (in one of the cities with the most restaurants per capita in the world) just lost 2 new customers who will pass the word. read more

OMG, why didn't we discover this place before now? We're near the end of our trip and only now we find Cora's for breakfast. Until now we've had to choose between standing in line for overcrowded but good food or being jam packed into small spaces for mediocre food. We've walked all over this town looking for a decent breakfast and just not finding the right place. Until we hit on Cora's. So what did we love about Cora's? Really, everything. They have booths, not tables smashed together for maximum occupancy. Much more comfortable than anyplace else we've been. They are well lit. The staff is cheerful and helpful, even the owner came over and introduced himself. The food is presented beautifully. It's semi-healthy but still delicious (something I think some previous reviewers missed, the potatoes are baked, not fried, beautiful fruit comes with almost everything.) The menu is creative. I had eggs benedict with brie and mushrooms. It was served with baked hash browns and fresh fruit. They ask you if you want your hash browns to have onion, mushrooms, or cheese with them. I said yes to all three and it was awesome! The restaurant is centrally located. Very close to the harbor and the downtown hotels. The prices are very reasonable. Service is fast compared to other places. Seriously, there is nothing I would have changed about it. After a week of eating elsewhere, we'll be going back to Cora's for our last breakfast here! read more

We arrived about 9 am for breakfast and were placed in a very comfortable booth along with a copy of today's newspaper. I ordered ham and eggs while my better half asked for Cora's oatmeal. Our waitress, Katherine was helpful and friendly answering any questions we had about the menu. Everything tasted okay except for the toast which was a little limp. The oatmeal is served in a large dish which looks like a flying saucer with slices of strawberry and some granola. The portions were more than we expected for the price. Words can not describe how much I loved this Cora's, but I will try! I ended up eating here for breakfast one day & lunch on another. Staff: friendly, helpful, knowledgeable & quick. It was busy but we did not feel rushed. Manager even came to check on us & seemed to be very involved & genuinely interested in our experience. Food: We had a smoothie & fruit cocktail, both delicious! I had a fruit crepe & my friend had a waffle. They were HUGE & had so much fruit we couldn't eat it all. Lunch was a skillet & steak benny which were yummy & kept us full until late night! Such good noms. Atmosphere was inviting & open, plus obviously family friendly. Free wi-fi was super fast & a nice extra to have. I was excited to come here because I saw several gluten sensitive options on the menu. When I asked to sub one crunchy topping for another in order to meet my gluten sensitivity needs, however, I was told that it was impossible. Because this is a chain, and the substitution wasn't an option in the computer, I was told they would not be able to do it. They seemed sorry that they weren't able to make the substitution, which wasn't an upgrade, but clearly there's something wrong with a chain that puts such strict rules in place. If there was ever a day to mess up, it would be Mother's Day. Tables were seated ahead of us when clearly there was space for myself, my partner and my daughter. Our server neglected to ring in our order, then proceeded to (it felt like) buy me off with a cappuccino (I was drinking regular plain jane black coffee). THEN she wouldn't flat out tell us that she neglected to tell us - honesty is ALWAYS the best policy.
