After electing to go to Pasadena for our little 2 day vacation we noticed Cordoba was close to the hotel. It was the beginning of the week, and things were noticeably quiet on the streets and inside this shop. So I didn't know what to expect once I walked inside. However, once I left this shop only around 10 minutes after I went in I knew that I picked a great place. The 2 guys working inside were friendly and we made small talk about the city, despite it looking like a slow morning. While inside I noticed many tables available, and two TV's showing sports news. I ordered the breakfast burrito w/ bacon and the breakfast sandwich which came on white bread. Both tasted amazing and made me content that I had picked this place. Came here on a Sunday morning and it was very quiet, at first I actually thought it was closed because it was hard to tell from the outside. I had to drive by twice before realizing it was open. Parking is street parking only. I ordered the avocado toast, and unfortunately it was just okay. It felt a bit bland and could have used a lot more flavor. This is a bustling, busy place that serves as a popular lunch spot for those doing business in the area. I came to meet someone for coffee and it was not well suited for our purposes - loud, very crowded and long lines. If you are nearby and want to grab breakfast or lunch, this may be a good spot, but I think you also need to be pretty patient. When I arrived at 10:50 am, there was not one single breakfast pastry left. Absolutely nothing. So I guess breakfast is also slammed. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and it took about 20 minutes to get. This is made worse by the fact that you have to go to a counter and wait for your name to be called, but the space is so tight. It's just not a fun experience. There is limited seating inside and some tables outside but the umbrellas are not all that functional so the patio isn't particularly pleasant. For my purposes - a meeting where we really needed to do some work and get in and out quickly, this wasn't the best option. Parking is also not great and they don't appear to validate for the nearby garage, which isn't cheap. I paid $16 to park! On the PLUS side, they DO have beer. But that requires waiting in line. I really appreciate places where you can see them cook because it gives you a warm at home intimate feeling. The food is fresh, made to order, fried to order, and super good. Man, this bfst sandwich is a 10/10!!! Thank you for giving me an option of putting the grilled turkey meat for added protein since I do not eat pork and it typically comes with that meat. They have a super cute patio area for outside sitting but the week I was in Pasadena was much too hot to sit outside so we sat inside at the large communal table near the cooking station. We also ordered some delicious oatmilk monkey bread iced lattes which were perfect for bfst and the hot weather outside. They also have some beers, ciders, and other drink options in the fridge to drink or take to-go. This seems to be a popular local spot, I went there two days in a row and the second time, there was a lunch rush and people ordering sandwiches, burgers, and fries which also looked pretty damn good. This place is apparently fire and I see why! Def show this local spot love. I wanted a breakfast burrito and instead of sticking with Tops like I shoulda, I saw Cordova Cafe pop up with absolutely beautiful burritos filled with hash browns, avocado, fluffy egg, and lots of melted cheese. I even checked Yelp to make sure the food actually looked like that! Instead... photos are what I received. Both burritos were like this, and the sandwich was somehow disappointing too. I typically remove sauces from my food cause I only need a little, and the sandwich left me dying for something moist to get it down. After a few bites, I opened it up to see if there was any garlic aioli at all and half the bun had none, while the other half had something reminiscent of sauce. The burritos were similarly dry and only palatable thanks to the salsa. The tortillas were so over toasted it was flaking apart like crazy, not to mention separated from the filling cause it's basically a hard shell, barely hanging in there lol. The eggs were dry and overcooked, very little avocado or cheese (hence dry, how many times can I say dry in one review!), and +$3.00 of bacon. The mocha wasn't bad, pretty rich and chocolatey. But the $18 burritos... shoulda just gone to Lucky Boy or Tops. Unlikely to return. read more

Was near the area and were hungry, so we looked for a place that had vegan option and choose Cordova Cafe! It's a cute little cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating, and lots on their menu. Still scratching my head as I swore I wrote a review for Cordova Cafe when they first opened a few years ago. Back then, I thought the bfast burritos were good but sadly wasn't too impressed this time around. The hash browns weren't crispy and for some reason the sausage tasted a bit off as well. Don't recall avocado being previously included either. Wasn't a fan of the salad as it tasted pretty bland to me. Would've been better to use some ketchup and cholula hot sauce. Business does seem to be good as their patio seating was completely full. Will have to come back another time to try their burgers/sandwiches. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Pasadena. The food is consistently tasty and satisfying, the coffee is delicious, and the wine and beer options are well-curated. Whether for a snack or a meal, this is a relaxing place that's perfect for hanging out with friends - the patio is especially nice. We love the breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, the Korean toast and the chicken caesar wrap, as well as the sliders and hummus and pita. The clientele is pretty diverse, which is another thing I love about this place. There are neighborhood regulars, along with people attending nearby events/meetings, and people who are drawn to the vibe. Armando, the owner, is such a nice a guy and so is everyone that works there - all kind, genuine, down-to-earth people. There aren't many places where I can say I always leave feeling happier about my day - but this place is special. When we were displaced by the fire for several months, and living in a tiny, grungy apartment around the corner, my daughter and I would grab a snack while she did her homework nearly every afternoon and we always felt completely welcome. What a cute and efficient place. Conveniently located by the Pasadena Civic complex it's nice to have a moderately priced alternative to some of the higher end restaurants nearby. Looks like a hit with locals with its Happy Hour. The grilled cheese with fig was simple but delicious and pretty much what one would figure and very reasonably priced either on or off the Happy Hour menu. My companion's spicy chicken sandwich was awesome with a nice kick with the Korean aioli. I think a while piece of chicken breast might make it less slippery but then the spice might not penetrate as much. read more

We come here regularly because it is within walking distance for us, the menu has enough variety to meet our needs on evenings when we don't feel like cooking, the quality has been consistent, and it is dog-friendly. We have also had good customer service experiences with Ray and Kailey. The atmosphere is a mix of people watching sports on the indoor TVs, lawyers congregating after a trial, production crews grabbing a bite, college students studying, business travelers trying out Pasadena, and lots of locals. If everything here was $5 cheaper, I'd give it a 5 stars because there's no way a breakfast burrito should be sitting at $17 (including meat) unless it's going to feed me for both breakfast and dinner. On the bright side, it's a gourmet breakfast burrito where all the ingredients are layered nicely such that you get an even bite of every ingredient; everything is also cooked perfectly, especially with the extra step of heating the tortilla up on the grill. Salsa was also perfect: tangy tomatillo flavors with a small kick, along with a saucer texture that doesn't seep into and through the burrito. Latte here is pretty standard; seemingly decent roast that sometimes comes a little too hit, others perfectly warm. Having lived nearby for a bit, I'm surprised I never stumbled upon Cordova Cafe. The cafe features seating inside and outside, though both a bit tight, not too much space to walk. Service was fairly quick, and the staff was very patient with my order (despite me spending minutes to decide). Wi-Fi and restrooms are available, too! Parking is a little harder to find, but there is parking available on nearby streets, a short walk away. Being a late afternoon, I settled for an avena matcha latte, which was their matcha with oat milk. I usually have matcha with regular milk, and I'm glad I tried this with whole milk. I took a seat by the window, and it was the best of both worlds. Outside was a nearly triple digit sunny day, but inside was a darker, rustic ambiance and bar featuring a more dimly lit environment. The coffee quality combined with flavors of café de olla were a perfect mix. I would say that the drinks here are reasonably priced. We stayed for an hour and had an amazing time catching up after. Great place to go after work for coffee or draft beer + wine. Noticed they carry a snack station with chocolate pocky and instant noodles. They serve food here but it's great for those in a hurry that want something more of a pinch.
