I love the looks and vibe in this shop. The location is great and covered in shade around the exterior which makes for a chill java, indoors or out. The echo inside was notable so we chose outside today. I am making this our routine start when I meet up with a homie every few months in this area. I tried to order a Ricotta Jam Toast that was posted in photos on their Yelp but as happens it must have been a retired offering. I will have to do it home. The morning was cool, so I was going to go for "hot drip" but needed decaf today (sadly) so I chose an ICED LATTE. They do offer house made flavors, but I forgot to ask which they offer. Love that they make their syrups in-house and they offer sugar and ice adjustments free of charge. There are milk substitutions for +$1! Got the Vanilla Latte with Easy Ice & Single Shot of Espresso ($7.50). The vanilla syrup was just the right amount of sweetness and tasted so good! The coffee was not too strong and it wasn't bitter so it was really enjoyable! I could definitely tell by the taste that they use high quality coffee beans so this is definitely a must! The Blue Jasmine Matcha Latte ($7.50) was so amazing! It's made with almond milk with butterfly pea flowers, jasmine tea, and in-house jasmine syrup. The matcha tasted very good quality and most likely handwhisked. The jasmine was so refreshing and fragrant. Cute little coffee shop in downtown Pasadena. This has to be the best bagel breakfast sandwich I've had from a coffee shop. The bagel was soft and fresh. The bacon was perfectly crispy. I was excited to try the jasmine matcha here since I looked this place up specifically for that drink. Service was friendly and super fast, which I appreciated. The matcha itself was good and I liked that it wasn't overly sweet without having to ask for less sugar. Personally though, it tasted a little watered down compared to other matcha spots I usually go to, so it wasn't quite a "wow, I need to come back" kind of drink for me. Though this coffee place has a miniscule food menu, we desired coffee and so ate here and I ordered the avocado bagel, where both avocado and bagel were fine, but the cream cheese was plastered onto the bagel as to make it not edible. This cream cheese was as thick as a country ham and difficult to remove with a fork. I know I sound like Larry David, but I struggled with this bagel sandwich and eventually tossed it. Quick review since I was only in and out; I finally tried Ideology Coffee today & was pleasantly surprised by the coffee. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, in a quaint area of old town Pasadena. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte with soy milk, and it was 10/10. I would come back and order this again for sure. Service was okay. The barista wasn't rude but he called out my drink 3 times in a single minute while I was still trying to put my keys in my purse. I know there was a couple people in the group before me that were also waiting for drinks, but there's no need to rush me like that. I came here to meet a friend for a coffee catch up and it is so nicely decorated. It is very clean and parking is on the street. They have enough options and I was choosing between the homemade syrups for my iced latte. I ended up choosing the cinnamon and cloves syrup which was perfect. The latte was also not too sweet and was a great midday pick me up. I also got the glass martinellis apple juice from the refrigerator section. My friend ordered a cortado and bagel with cream cheese. She enjoyed it too since it was her first time as well. While some other guests enjoyed showering themselves with sunlight, I'd rather peacefully staying indoor by the window sipping my coffee and people-watching. The barista was pretty nimble, getting orders ready in seconds despite being solo player for the day. My cold brew might be too acidic for my liking but I loved the spot and ambiance. It happened to be a rainy day when I noticed Ideology as I was entering the Mexican restaurant nearby. After ordering my meal, I returned to Ideology to see what it offered. Got myself a matcha latte. The matcha must have been of quality as I certainly could taste it. It warmed me up that cold day. Been here a few times now and I can confidently give this spot 4 stars. I've come here for of course coffee and pastries, but other times I've done some work here. Pretty spacious area that allows doges and plenty of tables to sit. My only gripe are the seats which aren't that comfy. I feel in an area inundated with nice coffee spots it's hard to compete but I do strongly feel that Ideology is one of favorite spots in Pasadena. In another neighborhood it would easily be numero uno. My favorite coffees this season has been the Pumpkin Spice Latte - subtle but nice. I don't need someone to yell PUMPKIN in my mouth. Nice, calm atmosphere with kind staff. Iced lavender latte was smooth and tasty without being overly fragrant. Their sign says they make their own syrups. The orange cranberry muffin was fresh. Not dry, The every once in a while whole tart cranberry was nice to get a bite of. The avocado toast was simple as it can be but the avocado was ripe and flavorful and the bread they used was good. If I ordered it again I would ask for no scallions. That's a personal preference. Staff was kind. The majority of the tables inside were occupied by people, mostly working on their laptops. There were some outdoor tables and chairs. Metered street parking available in front of the location if you're fortunate to get one. They only use a parking app though. I visited the Tuesday when the Eaton fire started! :O The winds were so strong that morning, I remember. The back door was constantly banging open and close. The trees outside would make noises too. Anyway the coffee shop is spacious inside. I really liked that it was quiet - good to do work or study. They had free Wi-Fi. I got a matcha latte and it was great! Parking: Don't follow Google Maps for the parking structure. Find the sign that says "THE SHOPS". When you walk out of the structure/elevator, you'll be really close to Ideology's front door. Enjoy coming here on the weekdays at 8am during the week. Plenty of seating, baristas are friendly, the temp inside is a crisp 68, they have a bathroom and the drinks are good. I've had their decaf mocha latte and a variety of matcha drinks. I prefer their coffee to the matcha because we make good quality matcha latte's at home. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is they charge $1 for alternative milk. Latte"s come with milk, so it's frustrating when the additional fee is so much. read more

Lattes are consistent and delicious. 2 things that always bring me back to a coffee shop. I also appreciate that I can get it in a ceramic mug and enjoy it there. Another star for that! The staff is always nice and there is plenty of seating and wifi. Sometimes the music is a tad loud but overall I have enjoyed there being music on, drowning out the clicks of keyboards and people's zoom calls. I love the espresso beans they use and could easily drink 2-3 lattes - if my heart allowed it! :) Matcha lattes are also good and the food is decent as well. Love this coffee shop in Old Town Pasadena. It's a welcoming place with friendly staff. The coffee is always consistently good. They have outdoor seating too which is ideal if like me you have a dog. It is very rich and subtle, not overly sweet. I substituted for soy milk only because milk causes me to build up phlegm. I rally did enjoy my chagaccino, my daughter who is a matcha latte lover really liked the blue jasmine infused matcha latte. The bagel was fresh and delicious. After the first sip hit my lip I knew it was legit! And left outta that coffee shop on Lit! Totally chill vibes flowing over here and through the playlist. So let me tell you what I ordered on this coffee adventure. Of course when I see a seasonal special I'm all over it so I got the Blue Jasmine Matcha latte. Ok so this nifty drink is perfect for someone who wants to experience Matcha but is afraid of the taste. It did have a nice blend of Butterfly Pea flowers and Jasmine tea and a subtle aftertaste of Matcha. The next drink I had was the RAF and this is prepared by adding cream and vanilla sugar to a single shot of espresso then foaming the mix with steam. The barista told me it was a popular drink in some countries of the former USSR so that was cool of her to explain that. Service was spot on but unfortunately not with the others.
