Monte Blanco (cold brew, cafe de olla, orange cold foam)

Love the cold brew with orange foam. Flavorful, bright, and not overly sweet. A lot of Latin coffee shops go heavy on the dulce de leche / churro / mazapan drinks (which I also love), but I'm not really trying to pump myself with sugar first thing in the morning, so Ñoño's menu is great! Looking forward to trying their other drinks. Breakfast burrito was packed and delicious.

Brand new coffee shop just opened in South Pasadena and it's such a welcome addition! Outstanding service with super patient and knowledgeable baristas :) They walked me through the menu and gave suggestions- I love that they have non dairy options for most of their drinks and they have unique creations like the limited-time Pride special Machita (Jarritos with matcha cold foam). We got the Machita and Cafe de Olla cold brew - currently typing this from the ceiling LOL. The space itself is gorgeous with vibrant decor. Definitely a good choice to work or study! There are also 3 tables outside if you prefer that.

    Danish-type pastry. So good!

Had a beautiful cold brew with horchata foam and the most amazing pastry. I'm a regular now.

The coffee was smooth, and the matcha had a rich, balanced flavor without being overly sweet. What really stood out to me, though, was the bakery. The pastry display was absolutely beautiful--it felt more like an art exhibition with a subtle Japanese aesthetic than a typical bakery. I tried the Milk Cream Bun and the Miso Cinnamon Roll. The Milk Cream Bun was light and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness. The Miso Cinnamon Roll completely surprised me. I was curious how miso would work in a cinnamon roll, but it didn't taste noticeably like miso. Instead, it added a subtle savory umami that elevated the sweetness of the cinnamon roll beautifully. It was unlike anything I've had before. This place left such a great impression that I already want to come back and try the rest of the pastries. Highly recommended!

Here is what my sister and I got: Milk Cream Bun - crazy soft and fluffy Dark Chocolate Mochi Brownie - rich chocolate flavor but was a bit too chewy for me Matcha Tonic - had that sharp, refreshing bitterness that I love Iced Matcha Latte - smooth, earthy and clearly high quality They do have a 4-pastry limit per person because everything sells out so fast but it's totally worth the trip. Finding street parking around York Blvd can be a gamble and we got lucky we found a spot in the front.

From the moment you walk in, the space makes an impression. The minimalist industrial design, soaring ceilings, and massive retractable windows flood the space with natural light, creating an atmosphere that feels calm, airy, and effortlessly modern. Whether you're meeting a friend, reading a book, or spending a few hours working, it's the kind of place that invites you to slow down and stay awhile. The coffee program is equally impressive. It's clear that quality is the priority. Every drink is crafted with precision, and you can taste the attention to detail in each cup. We got their malt tonic and an ice blue ginger, both were amazing. The staff deserves recognition as well. The staff at the POS I interacted with was welcoming, knowledgeable, and was great at navigating some of my questions. One thing to keep in mind is that this place has become extremely popular, especially on weekends. Seating can fill up quickly, and parking in Highland Park always requires a little patience. That said, the popularity is well deserved and speaks to the quality of the experience.

Kumquat lives off of York Blvd - a street with many families, creatives, and small businesses live. The environment is always wholesome. Their staff are always friendly, and as an experienced barista myself, I can see that their team are also very talented, well trained and very good at quality control. Their espresso is so balanced and sits perfectly center on your palette. Their matcha and hojicha is rich and velvety and seemingly a higher grade product. They work with many roasters, and sell a lot of their beans on their shelves. They also sell a lot of coffee and tea tools. I love everything about coming to Kumquat. Don't skip on their other locations (Loquat and newfound Quat). I'll forever stan this business

*** Cash not accepted ***…read more It has been a few years since my original visit and it looks like Kumquat Coffee is now known as the coffee shop to get matcha and hojicha lattes. Here are some of the key highlights: * In addition to the 2nd location in Downtown LA and a sister coffee shop Loquat Coffee in Cypress Park, the same owners also opened Fondry Bakery in 2024, a coffee roastery called Quat in Glassell Park in October 2025, and a 2nd Loquat location in Silver Lake in December 2025. * Still no private parking lot and the two public parking lots are still your best bet (5033 Lincoln Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90042 & 1311N N Ave 51, Los Angeles, CA 90042). Otherwise street parking is available. * Still no indoor seating with only few small outdoor chairs and a tiny table. * Our party had the Hojicha Latte (half-sweet $6.50) and Matcha Latte ($6.75). Personally, I strongly discourage anyone from getting the half-sweet option as it made the drink taste a bit watery. The Matcha Latte had full sweetness and it tasted about right, but it was still not as good as some other matcha lattes out there. * No public restroom [Conclusion]: A nice coffee shop to stop by while visiting the boutique shops on York Blvd. Decent matcha drinks, but I still prefer matcha drinks from various cafes in Koreatown if I want something on the next level.

On their menu, they actually listed the origin of where their matcha is from and as a matcha lover, I really appreciated that! Their matcha lattes come unsweetened so I opted in for their house-made vanilla syrup as I was intrigued by it. When I received my drink, I noticed the vanilla bean speckles which is an amazing sign! I do think the drink lacked matcha flavor, but it had great color to it! I believe the milk ratio was just a bit much. It definitely has potential though! I also tried my partner's drink and I am not a coffee drinker but I thought it was pretty good! Service: The staff up front was very patient while my partner and I were observing the menu and the pastries that were displayed. They were very informative of all of the displayed pastries! Ambiance: Loved the exterior and the designs on the wall. To the side of the order/pick-up window, there's a huge bench and a bit of tables to sit if you wanted to grab your drinks and chat. There's a cute little area under the tree! Overall, loved the aesthetic of this coffee shop and I would def come back to try out other drinks :)

Delicious drinks and creative pastries!…read more Tried Fondry LA and the matcha vanilla pistachio drink was definitely the highlight--so delicious and perfectly sweet without needing any sweetness adjustment. Easily my favorite thing I tried! The tofu cream croissant toast was airy and light, with a creamy topping that wasn't overly sweet. The mushroom béchamel was savory and good. I only got it because my brother suggested it. Normally I would not seek mushroom pastries even though I like mushrooms. The yuzu meringue croiffin was good, but I am not used to tart flavors in croissant/pastry combination. The cafe is very tiny, with only one table for seating, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. There are seats outside. I also wanted to try the black sesame pastry, but didn't see it available when I visited. I'd definitely go back to try it. The drink was the standout for me!

The key is to go on a weekday to avoid the line, as the weekend can definitely get busy. This last time I finally got to try the tofu cream topped croissant, which was ~to die for~. It was a little bit savory with the miso but still (not too) sweet. This felt super original and I would definitely recommend. I also tried the pistachio croissant and asparagus danish this time round and both were extremely good as well. I would have no qualms with re-ordering either. The only note is the pistachio cream is pretty runny, so it's hard to cut and share, as the cream just oozes out. The workers there are super friendly and kind. The drinks are also very good if you're looking to get a little extra treat as well.
