I've been meaning to write this review for a long time because I truly had the best experience. Dr. Assemi is the best chiropractor ever! Seriously. I was in a really bad car accident at the beginning of this year and I was worried because my health insurance didn't cover chiropractic care. What a blessing Dr. Assemi was right from the start. After he found out that I would be paying out of pocket, he offered me a special rate for his services. From my very first appointment, I literally felt like a weight had been lifted off my body and I was 20 years old again!! Miracle worker. He was so thorough making sure he fixed every little kink and ache I had from head to toe. He's always so polite and makes sure your comfortable during treatment. When I found out I was pregnant, he even took caution not to use electromagnetic therapy for the lower half of my back, just in case. He is well informed in his field and also gives you an educational lesson as he explains the problematic issues occurring in your body at the time. I enjoyed that part very much and will refer anyone to him if they want the best and actually leave knowing you have been helped. I grew up in a household where I was lucky enough to have a dad as a chiropractor. It's taken me 6 years to finally decide that I needed to find one locally after injuring my hip, and I am definitely glad that process led me here. Dr. Assemi was extremely profesional and most importantly was efficient to pin point and fix the problem. I found Dr. Assemi through Yelp and have been very happy with the work he's done for me. I saw him in the midst of a weird back crisis, he was more than accommodating in scheduling a last minute appointment as well as figuring out how to fix the rooting problem. I honestly look forward to my weekly visits, besides adjusting my back/neck, he uses two extremely relaxing machines that loosen the muscles and tissues, no other chiropractor has gone to this extent with me. On a side note, he's always been on time and for appointments, located in a great area, reimburses you for meter parking and has great magazines- all side bonuses. read more

I have been seeing chiropractors since I was 12 years old due to a plethora of back issues and Dr Assemi is the best I have experienced yet. He listens to you, takes his time, is honest and realistic about result and best of all wants you to not have to depend on him. The first time I saw him he said I would walk out feeling 50% better and I was thinking 'Yeah, right buddy' and low and behold he was 100% correct. He keeps costs down by working the front desk yet you can always get scheduling easily taken care of and keep a modest office but high-grade equipment. Sometimes he suggests things that sound more new-agey than I would typically be accustomed to practicing, but all I know is it works. Dont' ever want to find a new chiropractor again! read more

Wow, I'm amazed! I'm pregnant and my back has started to hurt and he was able to accommodate my condition and relieve a lot of pain!

I found dr. Assemi when my back was really bad he was able to fix the problem bye adjusting my back a couple time, yet my muscles tenses up due to stress and he was able to get me off until I felt better. He worked with my blue cross insurance and saw me in my lunch hour. He was able to schedule me in a time that worked for me. I really due recommend him he is very professional . read more

Dr. Assemi is amazing. I had extreme shoulder and back pain and he helped a lot. He is so friendly and patiently explains what the problem is and how the process would be. since I'm an engineer and I'm not familiar with this field, I think I was asking him almost every time to explain what's causing this problem and he was patiently explaining to me which I liked the most. some doctors just don't care enough to explain! Another great point for me was that he was so understanding about the appointment times and he was staying late for me to get there after working hours. NOBODY does that! Also before I go to a chiropractor, everybody warned me that I would get used to it but the great thing about Dr. Assemi was that, I was going every week for the first couple of times and after I started getting better he scheduled to see me every 2 weeks and started giving me some yoga to do at home which helped a lot. I'm now good with no pain and just doing the yoga every day at home. No Addiction to him and his amazing relaxing machines!! I had one bad experience with a chiropractor a long time ago and vouched never to go to another one again. However, after some coaxing from my acupuncturist I visited Dr. Assemi and am so grateful that I did. He is truly amazing and after only a few sessions I felt and noticed drastic changes on my back. OMG.... So my father introduce me to Dr. Assemi. Over the years I visited the Dr. on and off. I have had issues with my knee for about 2 years and was smoking cigarettes for almost 15 years. That was all about to change and I had no idea it would. About 4 months ago I hurt my back playing ball. I thought I could sleep it off but the next day my back (rib) was still an issue. I called Dr. Assemi and he saw me the same day!!! I walked into the office on Larchmont Blvd and met with Dr. Assemi. He asked me my issues and i explained the back and i also mentioned my knee. After the initial visit my back began to go back to normal. The Dr adjusted my neck, lower back and hip. I started a bi weekly regiment i was able to do so bc the Dr. TAKES INSURANCE!!!! I know right?? About 1-2 months into my bi-weekly visits I began to notice that my knee wasnt hurting and i decided not to wear a brace at the gym any longer!! Not only did the everyday pain go away, but also no more need to wear the brace... i wanted to go see that foot specialist in Beverly Hills and tell him that even though you gave up on me someone else cured me... In the interim Dr. Assemi mentioned that he had done acupressure and was able to help me stop smoking... I was at the point that i needed to stop the nicotine completely. No E cigg no Nocorette gum, just stop that drug completely. He had me purchase a book and began the treatments. My biggest fear of the withdrawal was so minute that a week went by before i knew it. I am now NICOTINE FREE for 4 months and I am enjoying it everyday... Im not a slave to smokes and its awesome. Honestly go see Dr. Assemi, back issues, appetite suppresser, smoking cure, heath nut... whatever ailment you might have or might want to change you must give him a shot... If you havent seen a chiropractor in general you dont know what you are missing... totally my favorite from the medical practitioners. if you have seen one then u must see how much more this Dr. can offer you!... I have a tendency to tense up in the hands up doctors but Assemi's beside manner and detailed, personal, thorough approach is so incredibly gentle that I couldn't be more relaxed in his hands. Please allow me to start of my saying that I am typically not an avid Yelper, but my experience with Dr. Assemi and Core Practic compelled me to change my tune. Dr. Assemi is nothing short of a miracle worker! I am a very high-strung, young professional who has an extremely A-type personality. With this being said, the pressures and stress from my job took their toll on my body, namely in the form of tendonitis/carpal tunnel in my left wrist and the onslaught of acute migraines. I had gone to Kaiser to seek treatment, only to be turned away and told that I should take pain killers for the rest of my life. The Western doctors did not even recommend physical therapy for the wrist that I had to keep constantly bound and restrained in a brace and that had limited to no mobility. Not wanting to accept what I had been told by Western doctors, I sought alternative opinions. That is how I came to know and deeply respect Dr. Assemi. I began treatments with him and he changed my life and gave me a new perspective on chiropractic medicine and a more holistic, Eastern philosophy. Though ultrasound therapy and targeted adjustments, he gave me back full range of motion in my wrist and allowed me to stop wearing my brace entirely. With regard to my chronic migraines, he performed adjustments on my neck and gave me cranial massages which not only reduced the frequency and severity of my migraines, but basically made them disappear entirely. I saw Dr Assemi only once as of now and he got my painful neck kink back to normal in one session! I had a persistent neck pain for weeks after being stuck in a "cozy" middle seat on a flight. After explaining and him evaluating, he knew exactly what to do. He first had me lay on one of his state-of-the-art machines, which relaxed my back muscles, giving me much relief. After that, he followed up with an adjustment, which I initially had concerns with due to fear. He guided me through the process, giving me all the info I needed to be reassured. I met Dr. Matt years ago after I had finger surgery and he suggested I come get some therapy as my surgeon did not recommend any. He went above and beyond any expectation and treated a multitude of issues that I was experiencing. He helped me with my finger to the point that no one can tell I had part of my tendon removed and my finger functions normally. He also treated me for migraines, and I have not had one since he treated me, and it has been more than 10 years! He also treated me for chiropractic issues. I started coming to Core Practic this past December. I was in a lot of pain as the result of a flare up from a car accident nearly two years before. I called up and spoke to Dr. Assemi's assistant Keshava, who was not only super friendly but also very accommodating and scheduled me for the same day! I have a bulging disk in my lower back which, when irritated pushes on my nerve creating a pinching and aching feeling that sometimes even shoots down my leg toward my knee. I have seen orthopedic/spinal specialists about this problem, hoping to find a permanent solution, but they suggested much more invasive (even exploratory sounding) procedures. I began to think I would have to live with some pain and just minimize it by controlling the flare ups, which I have done successfully with other chiropractic treatment in the past. Then I found Dr. Assemi, who's hard work, patience, and overall DEDICATION to my problems have proven to me that I can be as good as new! I don't think I've ever taken the time to write a Yelp, TripAdvisor or just any kind of on-line review before but Dr. Assemi helped me out so much and did it in such a way that I just felt obliged and almost compelled to share my very first good experience with a chiropractor with everyone -well, at least anyone who checks Yelp :) - I'm not sure where to start, but I guess I could begin by enumerating what I found to be different about Dr. Assemi's practice: -He truly listens to you, not just waiting for you to shut up with your "folk/pocket theory" about what you think you have but really listening (you can tell when someone is) -He is empathetic towards your pain (and this is consistent throughout the treatment) -He takes the time to explain how things work, what is wrong with you and the prognosis. He really walks you through the whole thing, not just rushing to be done with you and take on the next patient. You always feel like he wants you to get/feel better and not just keep you as a paying customer (I will further explain this point below) -He knows how -and is not afraid- to adjust you, whether your problems are with your lower back, sciatic nerve or neck (I had all three :( ) you always come out feeling better than when you walked in. (It is true that many chiropractors will not adjust your neck because they are afraid to do so, Dr. Assemi does it with such concentration and steady hand that you trust him and therefore you allow your body to relax and readjust). -Dr. Assemi followed my ultrasounds & adjustments -the way that chiro's usually try to work on the affected area- by prescribing -and explaining in full detail- a series of exercises that would ensure that the temporary relief I felt would be sustainable in time. And, this is the point that I wanted to stress, when he felt like I was doing better (more aligned, less stiff, working on my exercise routine at home and trying to work on my posture following everything he had told me) he dismissed me! I had never seen that happen at a Chiro before. I've seen other Chiro's try to keep you on a regular schedule, to try to bill your insurance for as much as they can, Dr. Assemi was only concerned with how I felt and that, specially nowadays, is invaluable! read more

I was hospitalized for severe low back and sciatic pain. The MRI showed S1 disc bulge, severe spinal stenosis at L4/5, and spondylolisthesis (I can't remember what most of these mean, just reading it off the MRI report). And then I heard the worst news that I needed a back surgery. A disc pushing on the nerve caused the terrible pain and foot numbness. What made it worse there was no guarantee for a satisfactory result. Plus the risk of becoming disabled or ending up worse than before was very high. How could I consider going through that? Out of desperation I agreed to an epidural (cortisone injection to my spine) that I wrongly believed could be the cure. The pain stopped temporarily but returned after 6 weeks. Again I was experiencing the same pain, not being able to sit, lie down, stand up or walk. I had to take tranquilizers, strong painkillers and stay in bed all the time. My life changed dramatically for a year as the nasty pain came back every now and then. Frankly I didn't want to live like that and couldn't accept to be so dependent on sedatives. Hopeful to find a better treatment I tried other avenues such as acupuncture, naturopathic and herbal supplements. Although these are helpful in many cases, they didn't work for me, because the problem was mechanical in nature. In search for a cure I talked to my friends hoping for a solution. A good friend told me about chiropractic and recommended that I consult with Dr. Assemi. God bless her, I will never forget her compassion. Believing in her, as she was a wise and sophisticated lady, I called Dr. Assemi explaining my situation over the phone. He asked me to email the MRI result to him. The next day he called me back and told me that he believed he could help. Determined not to give in to surgery, I travelled from another continent (Australia) to L. A. to visit Dr. Assemi who saved my life. I was amazed at the first visit when he patiently listened to my story, carefully perused my medical documents, watched how I moved and examined my back. Then he explained what was wrong in full detail and how the treatment works. Let me add that I'm a retired engineer and everything that he said made perfect sense mechanically speaking. To make a long story short what he did was certainly the right treatment. I am back to where I was before this horrible pain, even happier and healthier. He also prescribed special exercises and dietary advice that has turned my life around. I couldn't possibly explain how much I am grateful and appreciative to Dr. Assemi for what he has done for me. I have an 8 month old baby. Since my pregnancy, my back had been hurting off and on. After the pregnancy it started hurting a little more and recently, it's just been non-stop hurting. I went to an acupuncturist and had acupuncture for a week straight to no avail. My primary physician wanted me to just take ibuprofen. But who want to keep taking meds all my life? My husband found Dr. Assemi on Yelp and he was in our neighborhood. I don't really believe in chiropractors but he insisted and I came. 4 sessions later.... NO PAIN! Amazing. Turned me into a believer. He really gets at the root of the problem. Before, every movement I made was very slow and I had a hard time bending, sitting, or getting in and out of bed. But now, I'm even back to working out and started personal training to get back in shape. (I need to get this pregnancy fat off.) I am so much more happier.
