Outstanding or horrific, I won't waste our time reviewing average. I was involved in an accident which was bad enough to total my car and send me to the ER, but I was released the same day and was told to just take it easy for a few weeks. Turns out that was horrible advice and my back just felt worse and worse. My family friend who is a Chiropractor had recently retired, so I was pretty lost. He recommend me to Dr. Akimoto, and assured me he was one of the better guys around. He uses him often for adjustments on himself, so that was all the endorsement I needed. Upon meeting Dr. Akimoto, I instantly felt comfortable with him. He is obviously very knowledgeable and even trains other chiropractors, but I have to say his best quality is that he's extremely easy to talk to. He has a lot of topics he likes to talk about, and he also takes an interest in what is going on with his patients. Feeling comfortable in itself is priceless. After each treatment I could feel myself getting better but just before my next appointment I could feel I needed to see him again. After a month or so, I could tell I didn't need to see him as often, and without me saying anything, he let me know that I was improving and we could stretch out the visits a little further. He was right on track with that. I went from barely being able to walk, to feeling back to normal all because of Dr. Akimoto. It took a little bit of time, but I didn't mind one bit. It was like I got to go hang out with a cool guy and chit chat a bit. All while he made my pain go away. Dr. Akimoto is the REAL DEAL. I've been to many different chiropractors in my life as I had a bad car accident. Most doctors crack you once or twice and put you on a bed with electric pad on your back and leave you alone for 15 minutes and send you on your way. Before Dr. Akimoto, I had gone to 2 chiropractors that didn't do much to help my back. My back was so bad, it was extremely painful to put on my shoes or get into my car. The first chiropractor, I spent a whole year with and was given only a momentary fix and I never got better. The second chiropractor recommended I get surgery. I went to get an MRI scan and the technician advised me not to go through with the surgery at my age. Turns out I had a herniated disc. Then came Dr. Akimoto. He took X-rays of my back and he said he can fix it. I dedicated several sessions with him along with follow-up sessions. My back is now pain free and normal again. I can put on my shoes with no problem and move around without hesitation. I have been helped by Dr. Akimoto many times over the past 20 years. I developed sciatica suddenly and no position was comfortable. I was not able to sleep. He treated me in 5 visits and it never came back. About 15 years ago, the sliding security gate in my apartment garage came off its track and fell on top of me as it was moving to close. The adrenaline rush I experienced allowed me to hold it at an angle until I could free myself, all while it was still moving! I had cartilage between my ribs out of place and I was miserable. Again, in a few treatments, Dr. Akimoto corrected the problem by snapping the cartilage back into place. Very few chiropractors are trained in this procedure. I believe that if I had not had this treatment, I would still be suffering today from the injury. I go to him monthly for a "tune up". I will not allow him to retire.
