Really delicious food the hummus is to die for and the food is very well seasoned i love this place! My go to spot for Mediterranean food

Four of us went to try Corfu in Sierra Madre because, in all honesty, my miles were going to expire and I had to buy a restaurant coupon. I looked on Yelp and they had positive reviews so we gave it a shot. I took my friends who have been to Dubai several times and know what good Mediterranean food should taste like and two of us being Italian, well, I'll say it...we are kind of "food snobs". Well, we all LOVED IT! Coming in to the quaint restaurant, we were greeted with a guitar player in the corner playing very relaxing music...just perfect to create the atmosphere. We called ahead and made a reservation and got the corner table for 6:30pm on a Saturday - very nice. I believe they take walk-ins as well. We were greeted immediately and brought beverages and delicious warm pita bread (thin and fluffy - not hard and flat or too thick) with a za'atar oil dip...yummy! Had their sangria which was delicious and filled with seasonal fruits. We all ordered something different, but basically had a variety of the kebabs and all the meat was very tasty and moist, even the chicken breast. Each dish came with an order of tabbouleh that was perfectly seasoned and a personal size plate of their awesome hummus! I like hummus, but I'm not crazy about it...however, this one was really good (I'm actually having some right now since we brought some home!). I was surprised how good the rice was too...it had almost a hint of vanilla...and I rarely even bother with rice, but it was too good to pass up. The service was attentive and the food arrived in good time and the chef came out himself to ask if everyone was happy. What more can you ask for? I would definitely recommend Corfu for a night of delicious Mediterranean dishes! P.S. I don't think you judge a Mediterranean restaurant based on their "basic green salad" and it's just a shame that their overall rating is tarnished because of a basic salad review...when they offer so much more! Overall, Corfu is very good. I have three favorite Mediterranean restaurants and each has something to offer that they do quite well. But, Corfu has the best Horiatiki salad, ever! The tzatziki is the most tasty, if you like garlic. Their moussaka is quite good. Every Tuesday and Wednesday they have a lunch buffet offering the opportunity to try a lot of their dishes. They have plenty of parking behind the restaurant. At times, the wait for your food may take a little while, but CERTAINLY worth the wait. read more

Starting from the fresh squeeze OJ, to the hummus, beef, chicken, lule kabobs, down to the cafe latte, it's all excellent quality! The beef came out medium per request, just the way I like it, on a bed of nicely prepared rice pilaf that is moist and flavorful. The chicken breast kebab is tender and moist but not over-cooked. Even the cafe latte is way better than I have expected. A very nice local bistro for a comfortable meal. As a plus, the owner is a very friendly, cordially down to earth person that will come to meet you at the end of the meal to make sure everything is to your liking, that by itself is getting rarer and rarer these days. Corfu is my favorite place to order from when I'm craving anything Mediterranean. They have wonderful options for vegan and vegetarians! Some of my favorites are the grilled vegetarian sandwich and sample platter. The platter comes with hummus, moutabel, sarma (which is my favorite!) tabuleh (also super delicious) kofta, pita bread and amazing cheese boregs. Staff is super friendly and the establishment is extremely clean filled with great vibes! I love this place and will continue to order from here. Highly recommend! read more

After having bad tasting of food and service two years ago my wife and I tried the restaurant again. Ordered the Manneh then we were told it was unavailable they said the sojuk was so we ordered it. It was deep fried and dry and overcooked. My wife ordered the house specialty combo (kebabs) they were OK but nothing special. It came with hummus and tabouleh which were good. I ordered the mousaka. It was ok but had absolutely no taste. No spices were added to the meat and the bechamel sauce was almost burn. By adding ketchup and some of the vinegar from the salad it was edible. The service was ok...saw the waitress when we ordered, when she brought out the food and when we asked for the check. I think we will wait another 2 years+ before trying Corfu again! I am Greek so my standards for Greek food are probably higher than most peoples. As a suggestion they may want to include some Greek wines like Retsina and maybe a Greek beer... read more

Food is okay but Mr. Cashier is horrible. He make a mistake on the check and charge me less then it should be. I looked at the credit card slip and was a bit confused but I thought that is the tips they automatically charged me so I signed and walked out. Mr. Cashier found the mistake and found me couple blocks away. He didn't want to say sorry about his mistake but sounds like I cheated on him. And he just couldn't listen to my explanation ( which I do thought that number is for tips). If you make a mistake, I am totally fine and would like to go back to help you sort things out. But how could you treat your client as a thief because of your mistake? I won't eat in this restaurant anymore. read more

I love Mediterranean food, and this place was amazing! I had the chicken kebob plate which came with tahini salad, humus, pita, and garlic sauce. Everything was delicious and the rice was magical. I asked what the secret for the rice was and they said "love" (I was going to guess butter). If you like Zankou or Cafe Santorini in Pasadena, then you will love this place --the food is better here! Also, they have outdoor seating and two dining rooms. It might look full from the street, but the back dining room is pretty large. And finally, the service was great and everyone who works there was really friendly. Check it out! read more

Wow! I wish I had the ability to leave more than five stars. My husband and I took my Dad and Mom here for dinner last night for Father's Day. I had never been here before but after doing some research on restaurants nearby and my love for Middle Eastern food, I was definitely interested. The food was amazing. It was Greek and so very delicious. I will not deny that I was nervous walking into the place, seeing as we had never been there before. It was really important that it was good. This restaurant surpassed all my expectations. I will definitely be back!The service was excellent too! Seriously if you like good kebabs, kibbeh and hummus and you like having good service then you've got to try this place out. read more

We found Corfu on OpenTable while driving through the area and so happy we did. Everything we ordered was very fresh and delicious. We shared an appetizer sampler, muhamara, spanikopita, and two combination plates for 6 people. I can honestly say that we didn't have a favorite dish because we loved everything equally. we were walking down the street and saw a lady enjoying her food immensely. so we decided to try this restaurant. at first, there was no one in sight to seat us or take our order. we chose a table for ourselves. about a minute later, the waiter ran in from outside. service was slow but friendly. we were pleasantly surprised with the food. chicken kebab, lamb chops, stuffed pork chop, beef kebabs. we had plenty of pita, hummus, and tabbouleh. the first batch of pita was not too good. then we asked for more. the new batch came out straight from the oven. we felt sad that we didn't have warm pita the first time. food was fairly good in terms of presentation and flavor. we ended up with a lot of leftover boxes. since service is slow...and pita was inconsistent during the same meal, i'm going to have to round down. 3.5 stars read more

It's not an easy business, running a restaurant. One has to master so many disciplines. Yes, there's the cooking. But there's also developing a menu with enough variety to keep people coming back but not so much as to overwhelm the kitchen. There's the provisioning day in and day out. There's the design of the space and the hiring and training of the waitstaff. And then there's the service itself. First, I'd rate the food highly. We wanted to sample a variety of things but not overeat before going to see a play at the nearby Sierra Madre Playhouse. So we decided on the sampler platter (Hummus moutabel sarma tabbuleh kofta and cheese boregs served with pita bread), the Greek Village Salad (Tomatoes cucumbers bell peppers onions greek olives feta cheese and oregano with olive oil and red wine vinegar) and Moussaka (Eggplant casserole with potatoes zucchini ground beef and béchamel sauce) all to share for two. And they were all very good. When I ordered I was very specific to say that we were going to share each and wanted them brought out in that order. Well, this is how an inexperienced and untrained waitstaff can ruin a meal. Yes, the sampler platter came out first. Good. But then, only minutes later a salad appeared that we were told goes with the Moussaka. Hmm. Then the Greek Village Salad followed nearly as soon as we could pick up our forks with the Moussaka not very far behind. So now we had the table covered with dishes, cold food getting warm, hot food getting cold as if we were being told to hurry it up by all the food dumped on our table at once. Now don't get me wrong, the two waiters were very warm and welcoming but when I made note that we were hoping to have the courses spread out I received a quizzical look and was asked if we needed more clean plates. Where she was going to fit those plates on the already crowded table I had no idea. This experience really made me think and appreciate professional service and not take it for granted. So, go to Corfu. Enjoy the food. And hope they learn something as time goes by by about service. read more

Rude owner and staff. My gf ordered for pickup (thru Yelp ironically) and the confirmation email stated it would be ready within 30 min. Arrived, was told would we were wrong about having an order for pickup as "never before 11" despite their configuring their order page to allow this. Essentially, it would not be ready for 2 hours and the owner and staff refused to offer either a refund or order cancellation. Told to "contact Yelp." Look, I get stuff happens but the correct answer would have been "Sorry we messed up and set the wrong hours on our order page. We'll let Yelp know to cancel your order. Can we offer you something else to eat?" After a few min, I just told them to confirm they weren't refunding or serving anything so we could eat next door (I didn't want them to claim to Yelp they made food for us but we didn't accept it). Instead they refused to answer that, and just held us up for quite some time. Addendum: Got a Yelp reply from the business "The ordering through yelp is done from an outside company called eat24. Somehow eat24 has allowed orders to be done for lunch during breakfast hours." This is more of the same bs where the company is blaming others instead of owning up to their mistakes. They're obviously the one in charge of their ordering listing and can adjust the ordering times like all other businesses. Again, they don't even mention that they're going to fix this for the future. I wouldn't be surprised if someday they didn't wash their hands, gave someone food poisoning, and pretended "oh it was our vendor, it wasn't our fault!" The message also said to "ask for Vic" when I was already told I spoke to the owner...who I assume is Vic. Unless they lied about that also. read more

Upon a friend's recommendation and a craving for some Greek food I ended up at Corfu today. I knew it was going to be good but didn't expect greatness. This was an awesome eating experience for both my belly and my wallet. We started off with Kofta and Cheese Boreg. Very good apps and priced about 5.00. We both had the House Combination which included hummus, chicken, filet and ground beef kabob atop the most gorgeous rice pilaf ever. The flavors and texture of the meat is out of this world. Ok maybe not out of this world as I am sure they are available in Greece! The owner greeted us and was our server. She was very attentive and took the time to explain the food and flavors in great detail. Which both of us appreciated being new to Mediterranean cuisine. Sierra Madre Village itself is a great little spot, especially for a date night or hanging out with the girls. It's a smaller restaurant which is nice. They have some patio seating but today was chilly, so we opted to dine inside. I absolutely recommend this establishment and would say it's perfect for a date night situation. We had so much food; the portions are generous but not overboard. I am very excited to have discovered this place today. I look forward to going back for dinner. read more

My wife and I came to a festival in this charming community. We found this little Mediterranean restaurant called Corfu, like the Greek Island. The food is amazing! I had the Patitso. When the server brought our meal out my senses were engaged from the delectable aroma. My taste buds were equally aroused from the flavor of this meal. Everything we had was exquisite from vegetables to the baklava. My wife had the mousaka and said it was the best she has eaten. We are definitely coming back here. read more

Corfu is a small, but quaint place. I went to dinner here with a coworker on a Tuesday night around 6pm. We were one of the only ones there, which provided a serene milieu for the first half of our meal. The waitress offered us a basket of warm pita and some sesame/olive oil/olive tapenade-like dip. Who knew this "greek" place also serves soju cocktails? Yes, I do recommend. For my entree, I ordered the moussaka, which was absolutely delicious. It was my first time trying this eggplant, beef, cheese "lasagna", and I had a little sweet surprise from the sauce. My co-worker ordered the halibut in a cream sauce that wreaked of beer. He seemed to enjoy that. (Note: the greek salad upgrade for $2.75 is not worth it. All they do is add feta cheese, and 3 non-pitted olives to the normal salad.) Lastly we ordered the frog's legs. I tried this very hesitantly, but how can anyone not love anything fried and slathered in an olive oil/garlic/cilantro sauce? If you block out memories of high school dissection lab, you can enjoy these legs very easily! So overall, 4 stars. I knocked off 1 star, firstly, because the bathrooms in the back are quite small, dark, and dingy. Secondly, as Corfu got crowded later on, it not only grew louder, but the service grew considerably slower as there was only 1 waitress for all. read more

I went here a few years ago and I have never been back. I hate this place with a passion and they deserve to go out of business. My experience was terrible. My BF and I sat outside on the street. He ordered the chicken cordon bleu and I got the pastitsio. I even asked the woman who I think was/is the owner if the pastitsio was good, and she said "Of course it is, I made it!" So I believed her. We got little greek salads before the meals - lettuce, italian dressing, a few slivers of red onion, a couple of olives and some feta crumbles. Our orders took FOREVER, and when we finally got our food it was AWFUL. BF's chicken cordon bleu was covered in thick, extremely strong-tasting sauce that was just gross. I know what bleu cheese and this dish are supposed to be like, and this was terrible - nothing subtle about it, nothing nice about how it looked, it was barely edible, but we were so hungry that we ate it. And I say WE ate it, because I had to share his food because mine was SO BAD. My pastitsio was majorly undersalted, it was literally like they forgot the salt while cooking it. On top of that, IT WAS COLD IN THE MIDDLE. This is unacceptable. I told the woman that it was bland and of course she doesn't have the brains not to argue with me, so she said "Bland? What you mean bland?" SO I proceeded to tell this idiot the definition of bland, and she tried to argue with me by saying "I used parmesan cheese, that is very salty!" as if that is enough to flavor the entire dish. I then told her that it's cold in the middle, and she still said "Are you sure?!" So I stuck my finger in the middle of the thing and said "YES. I'M SURE. IT'S COLD AND BLAND." So she offered to take it back and heat it up, but I said "No, I don't want that because it will still be bland." It was so bland that I would have to practically be starving to eat it, purely for sustenance reasons, but considering the fact that I'm paying for it in a restaurant, it's not acceptable. She asked if I wanted to order something else instead, but I said no, I didn't want to wait again (because it would take another 30-60 minutes because they're so slow), so this B*tch got all huffy and frowned and I STILL had to tell her to take it off the bill. At the end of this horrible meal, she had the NERVE to take the dish off the bill, but then charge me for the FREE SALAD that comes with the meal!!!!!! First off, this was the cheapest side salad in the world, and I picked at it, and I DID NOT ORDER A SALAD, it was included in my horrible meal. She had NO RIGHT to charge me for it, and she should be ashamed of herself for such horrible business practices. This is not how you run a decent restaurant! I was truly appalled at this place and what can I say, I just hate it with all of my being and hope it fails miserably. I think you can really see how much I hate it from all of my excessive angry capitalizations. I'm still upset by it all this time later - in fact, if someone asked me what was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, I would probably go with this one. At least places who gave me food poisoning were reasonably pleasant at the time, even if I puked my guts out 6 hours later (IHOP in LaVerne, I'm looking at you)! Leaving angry and ripped off from a restaurant ruins the whole night. Needless to say I will never, ever be back. read more
