    Chicken pho with traditional toppings
    Dan W.

This restaurant has on average 4 stats...did I order wrong? I have had haggis in Scotland and onigiri in Japan, so I assure....my tongue enjoys a worldly palate. The place's ambiance gives off more a "Modern Vietnamese" cuisine rather than traditional. Also, it throws off the vibe with multiple televisions on, showing episodes of CSI, but whatever. Disclaimer: I had to order without onions, as I have an allergy. Ok, now that that's out of the way.. I ordered the chicken pho. Very salty...so much so as that became the primary taste of the broth. Not terrible, but I think my blood pressure is up a few points. The menu itself is somewhat limited, but not too bad. A decent variety on the small menu. Two days in a row of midtown prices ..$24 for pho and soda seems ridiculous for an average Vietnamese pho. I guess I'm feeling more generous with my ratings than yesterday, as if invited by friends I'd have no objections, but plenty of better, and more affordable, Vietnamese restaurants in the Sacramento region

    Vietnamese udon
    Alexander W.

I was curious what Vietnamese udon is. It's all right; not the best carrier of Vietnamese soup flavor, but I can't complain if that's what I asked for. The soup was great. Lots of chicken, though only 2 pieces of shrimp feels a bit stingy. Still not bad for the price. The jackfruit smoothie was good. I definitely can taste the jackfruit, and the cream goes surprisingly well with it. The decor is nice with even pretty decorations in the restroom that surprised me. Service is good too. I wouldn't mind coming here again.

Amazing dine in experience! My partner and I recently stopped by, and I was really impressed with the food and service at Coriander. We went on a weekday evening, and staff offered open seating. Ambiance is casual and the restaurant is clean with Sacramento-inspired artwork on the wall. Amy, the owner, took good care of us and offered recommendations when we were torn between the shaken beef and beef pho. She recommended the beef pho, and I'm so glad that she did! The broth is made in house over a couple days, and she encouraged us to try it before adding hoisin or sriracha. Wow! The anise flavor was spot on. The beef pho is served with ribeye and house-made beef balls, and overall, they were tasty additions to a flavorful pho base. My partner is a big fan of spring rolls, and the chef was so kind to accommodate our request for half shrimp and half pork. Both were fantastic, and the peanut dipping sauce for the pork roll had whole peanuts inside! It doesn't get better than that. We also paired our meal with the iced chrysanthemum jasmine tea, and it had a delicate floral taste. It's brewed with ginger, which I liked. Free refills are available too. We're so happy we discovered Coriander and we'll be back again soon. Thank you, Amy and Chef, for your outstanding service and hospitality! Coriander is now our go-to spot for Vietnamese food in Midtown, and we can't say enough good things about our experience.

Fast service, really enjoyed this dish. Must try if you're looking for a fresh bite to eat. Enjoy!

Bun Bo Hue - my favorite, what i always come here for.

Pictures were taken from multiple visits. My go to for Bun Bo Hue and Banh Canh! Try their spring rolls and chicken wings too, you won't be disappointed! Service is wonderful. Small and quiet place to eat a peaceful and delicious meal. Patio seating available. Closed Sundays. Street parking only.

I stopped in to order take out for lunch. The Vietnamese shaken beef had a nice savory flavor. Although, the beef was not as tender as I liked....lots of chewing. The chrysanthemum green tea was not bad. I would add sugar if I plan to visit again .

Solid place to get Vietnamese food. Came here for lunch once again. This is one of me and my coworker's go-to places for lunch around the area. A little above average. My wife loves the chicken pho. Highly recommended.

Beef Pho with Braised Brisket, Rib Eye Steak, Beef Balls, and Rice Noodles
    Mike L.

Whenever it starts to rain, it seems like all my stomach ever craves is something hot and soupy. More specifically, pho. Now, to be fair, I'd crave it even if the weather was blistering hot (which has happened plenty of times), but on this one particular rainy day, it was all that appealed to me. And everyone else in Sacramento, it would seem, as the line awaiting us at our go-to spot around Midtown (Saigon Alley) was unexpectedly and absurdly long. Still, as disappointing as it was to have our plans rebuffed, it also finally gave me the chance to check out Coriander! Located on an oddly quiet corner just on the other side of the Business 80, I loved how easy it was to pull up and park right in front (not having to leave Midtown was a huge perk too!). Inside, the restaurant isn't super large, but I appreciated how modern and clean it was. Of course, I was even more stoked that we were able to get seated immediately, given how wet and cold we were (they also have a small area out front for outdoor dining). As for the menu, it's just one page, but it actually has a solid variety of dishes to offer that go beyond the staples. Alongside the likes of their beef pho, banh mi, rice plates, and non-pho noodle soups, like Bun Bo Hue and Pho Ga, you'll also gems like Banh Xeo, Banh beo, Nem Nuong, and Bo Buc Lac, just to name a few. -- GRILLED PORK SPRING ROLLS (Nem Nuong) - Fresh Grilled Pork Sausage, Lettuce, Sliced Cucumber, and Thin Noodles Wrapped in Soft Rice Paper...$10.95 This immediately jumped off the page when I saw it and, thankfully, it was pretty solid. The rolls were all really plump and although they were oddly red, the sausages were great - thick, juicy, and the taste had a nice meatiness to it. -- BEEF PHO - Braised Brisket, Rib Eye Steak, Beef Balls, and Rice Noodles...$15.50 Sadly, this left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the portion was super generous, as it was loaded with meats and noodles. Yet, at the same time, the broth wasn't very remarkable. As glad as I was that it wasn't fatty or salty, a bit more of either/both would've helped the flavor. Much like with the food, service here seemed a little uneven. While our server was friendly and happy to accommodate my gf's request to split her order (half for here, half for to-go), it took longer than expected (for a pho joint) for our orders to come out. That being said, we did notice a nearby table having a hard time flagging down a server. Still, they may very well have had it coming - they seemed really rude and dismissive from the moment they sat down, so it wouldn't be shocking if the workers were just avoiding them as much as possible. All in all, while they aren't about to replace my favorite pho joints anytime soon, Coriander is still a pretty solid spot, all things considered. Decent food, friendly service, uber convenient location, and no line! If nothing else, it's awesome just having an alternative to head to when my other favorites are too busy or too far away. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

Wow! Just wow! For as long as I've been living in the Sacramento area, this is the best pho I've had by far! Pho is one of my favorite dishes to eat, and I eat it at least three times a week. I'll even eat it when it's over 100° outside Lol. So, safe to say I've had my share of pho. With that said, this is the best pho that I've ever had! They take a day to cook the broth, and you can really tell that they put love into their food. It taste so good and you don't even need garnishes and sauces to eat it. Their spring rolls and their homemade sauce is so phenomenal. You simply have to try it for yourself, it's that good. Also, the service was a 15 out of 10! Amy was a great waitress and was always checking in on us. She always made sure to refill our drinks, and explain the dishes that we were eating and how they were made. She even helped to recommend some certain dishes that we've never heard of before. She's an amazing waitress, and I hope you guys have her host you as well. The ambience of the restaurant is beautiful. Nice modern touches throughout, and it feels like you're dining nicely. They even offer outdoor seating. This was a lovely experience, and I can't wait to come back.

    Chicken Banh Mi
    Amie A.

Tried this spot again after four years. Still agree it's about a 3 star spot. The menu is pretty limited with only one size for pho. Grilled chicken spring rolls: not good at all. The sauce served with it was certainly not a peanut sauce. I really am not sure what it was - but it didn't work. The roll itself was lacking flavor, it had a tiny piece of lettuce in it and very noodle heavy. Some herbs would have been great! Chicken Banh Mi: was actually pretty good but it felt like something was missing. The jalapeños weren't spicy which could have been the missing piece to the puzzle. They did put mayo on the sandwich which isn't traditional. Beef Pho: the broth was phenomenal. This was our favorite dish - we were very impressed! We would go back for the pho but nothing else.

    Banh Beo Plates
    Vivian L.

Came here for an early dinner with friends and there were a couple of parties here (including solo diners which was cool). Menu is very simple and my friends and I ordered the banh canh, bun bo hue, and the banh beo plates. My friend enjoyed the bun bo hue, and I thought the banh canh was fine! They had a lot of chicken in there. But our favorite was the banh beo plates - it was super good. This is a decent spot if you want some quick Vietnamese food that is near downtown area. Service was fine. We were able to find street parking pretty easily too.

We got seated pretty fast. They don't have a whole lot of seating and the tables are pretty close together. I honestly wouldn't come back. The food was okay. There was A LOT of fat on my steak, it grossed me out. I had the steak pho. The employee started spraying down a table right next to us while we were still eating. It also took a while to get his attention for our check. We ended up just walking up to the front until he came to check us out.

Alex T does it again! Not only did he pick a premium delish hot spot! He was the best dressed there! Alex T's Ugly Sweater Party took up the entire indoor dining of this Vietnamese Coriander Restaurant. It was nice to see there was a small section of outdoor seating available. We did a white elephant gift exchange, along with a scooping Christmas bows into a bowl game... which I suck at, haha, but nothing compared to the company around for all of us to enjoy! Some of us were in adorable onsies, wild elf outfits, and wild hats(ME!) My handsome man & I ordered a Vietnamese coffee to share along with some Pork Springrolls and Saigon Crepe. It took a while for the appetizers and coffee to get to us, but with the number of people we had, it was understandable. When it arrived, I had not seen anything like the way it prepared before. It looked gorgeous... and it was delicious. My biggest critique would be that the sauce for the springrolls was bland, and the crepe was a little on the oily side... For our lunch, we ordered a grilled Porkchop and rice and added a fried egg on top. They did not know how to do sunny side up, dang it, but it was still some-what runny. Service was so perfect! The staff was so nice! They made sure we had everything we needed! Oh, and that Vietnamese Coffee... one of the best around!

Do you guys cater and where can I find the cater menu?

The menu is the same for catering but if you order in big quantities you do get a 20% discount and we do combine all the orders in one tray.

Are the pho portions the same for take-out vs. dine in? Thank you!

Yes the portion are the same.

Absolutely, we are following all the applicable guidelines. Our customers safety is our number one priority. We look forward to serving you.

My husband ordered their Thai iced tea tonight. It was really salty. Is that the typical flavor at this restaurant as they are usually sweet elsewhere?
