We ordered take out. The food packaging is very thoughtful. Fried chicken is shielded but not fully closed so it's hot but not soggy. Also service is fast and efficient. We have Crispy Yangnyeom Chicken which is fresh, crispy and deliciously spicy! The batter is a little thick on some pieces but overall tasty! I personally love the spiciness. My husband said it's is too spicy but I found it just right. If you like a little kick this is a great choice! We also got a bibimbap, which is something I don't recommend ordering. The chicken in there has a weird reheated taste, like when you cook it and let it sit out for too long and then reheated it. It also quite dry and under seasoned. The veggies are also quite under seasoned. The gochujang can't event fix it.. over all not a lot of flavors like other bibimbaps I've had. However, this is a fried chicken place. So I shouldn't judge the bibimbap too harshly. But I would recommend stick with the fried chicken and avoid this haha. Again, service is super efficient. The order was completed in around 30mins. Another hard to find, tucked in the corner and not enough signage yummy food spot. Vons is located next to Sushi Hook on Howe. This location shares operation with a Ramen and More. My fiancé and I tried two orders of their chicken and Bulgogi Ramen. The prices of the chicken seem a bit steep compared to other chicken locations but in this day and age small restaurants like this are just trying to survive. We order a half order Crispy Yangnyum, half order crispy garlic chicken tenders and Bulgogi Ramen. The Yangnyum has a bit of a kick. The half order of legs are huge and have tons of meat. The flavor is all the way down to the bone. Next time I will try the legs extra well done for a better crunch which I heard is the way to go. I also added the butter powder seasoning to a few of my legs as suggested by a friend. A must try!!! The crispy garlic chicken tenders were delicious! They are crunchy and flavorful. They use chicken thighs to make their tenders. The tenders are a nice size and covered in their garlic sauced. I also added the butter powder seasoning to a few of my tenders just to see! It's really good with their butter powder seasoning as well. The Bulgogi Raman bowl was pretty yummy. The meat was well seasoned and tender! I am not a fan but my fiancé enjoyed the bowl. I did a DoorDash pickup for some Curry Chicken and I was pleasantly surprised. The curry was herbaceously robust with flavor and creaminess. The broth had mild aftertaste, which I did prefer. The chef served my to-go order in earlier than expected and my entire meal was piping hot! There was some seating for both indoor and outdoor guests for a combined 10-12 people. I kept hearing about "The Other" KFC, meaning Korean fried chicken instead of Kentucky fried chicken, and so when I saw Vons, I decided to give it a try. I am glad we tried it, but we didn't think it was worth the hype. Maybe it was an off day, maybe it was what we ordered, whatever it was, it just didn't seem very different or more special than what we have had elsewhere. I do have to say that I just LOVE Korean food. I find Korean food to be so flavorful and usually so complex, but these chicken pieces could have used some more flavor. The chickens were crispy, and golden, but bland, and didn't tempt me to continue eating once I was feeling full-ish like most Korean food does. My girlfriend and I grabbed dinner the other night and it was her first time trying Von's and my first time to this location. It's much smaller than the folsom location, there's about 8 tables down a narrow space. The size and atmosphere reminded me of the chicken restaurants in kdramas. Lol Service was quick and everything was delicious. We started with edamame, gyoza and a side of pickled radish. I tried the crispy fried chicken with honey butter for the first time and it was unique. The flavor reminded me of kettle corn. Hahaha, I know it sounds weird but it was actually very tasty! The Yangnyum will always be my favorite though - crunchy crust and nice and spicy sauce. I will say, this location has more on their menu than the folsom location but they do not offer happy hour like the folsom location. Vons Chicken opened a couple of years ago. They didn't do much to the dining room. It looks almost the same as before when this is Ramen and More. This was my second time eating at this Von's location and first time dining outside. The patio doesn't seem to get used often, and everything was a bit dusty/dirty. For dinner between 3 adults, we ordered squid legs, laver rolls, and 2 half orders of chicken. We also got 2 sides of rice and a side of pickled radish. Laver rolls were good, squid legs good but portion quite small, chicken was OK, a bit bland. After eating here a few times, I would definitely recommend the fried chicken as all the flavors are a hit depending on your mood. The yangnyeom is a Korean style sauce, and the chicken is drenched in it. This can be spicy, so choose your level wisely. The ramen here is also popular. Friends have been telling me about Vons chicken for a while. I've heard that the fried chicken is outstanding, and that I definitely need to try it. You know how they say that things come together for a reason? I found the Sacramento location located near my dental office, so I figured it was a must try! They are located in a small strip mall, and the actual restaurant size is on the smaller side. It's fairly unassuming, but don't let that deter you. The interior of the restaurant is pretty bland, but let me tell you, the food is not! They have magic going on in the Kitchen! We ordered two different iterations of the crispy Yangnyum chicken. One was mild and wings, the other was medium heat and boneless. Damn delicious! The medium heat definitely brings the heat! Portion size was incredibly generous, and they graciously added the perfect amount of sauce. It absolutely is a shareable portion, especially if you're ordering other things. The mild wing version was my favorite hands-down. Again, super generous sized portion, plenty of sauce to cover and bring flavor to each bite, and did I mention that it was damn delicious?! I rarely if ever finish what I order. I am infamous for my to go boxes :-) yes, I did get a to go box, but I can assure you that I finished my meal later in the evening. My mouth is watering just thinking about how tasty the chicken was. It was perfectly seasoned, each bite was tender and tasty, the exterior of the wing was perfectly fried and not overdone. Seriously just so tasty! Service was spot on, and the woman that took our order not only was super sweet, but she was very attentive as well. They are a little skimpy with the napkins, so you may need to ask for a few more. Trust me, with the wings, you'll need the napkins. The family that was sitting next to us had all ordered Ramen bowls. They had remarked that they are regular customers, and the Ramen bowls not only are a huge portion, but that they are really good. Admittedly, I wish that we had ordered a Ramen bowl, because when theirs arrived at their table, they looked amazing. They smelled amazing. I'm excited to go back and try one of them. CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN W/ CHEDDAR 5/5* Trust me, this sounded funky to me at first too and I was disappointed that it was a mound of powdered cheese on top of the fried chicken instead of real cheese. But I definitely gravitate towards this every single time I'm at Vons now. It's an interesting flavor - sweet, slightly cheesy, powdery, but not the same as the cheese powder you'd sprinkle on popcorn. It's milder and has a subtle sweetness that enhances the savory chicken.. it's umami! CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN W/ HONEY BUTTER 4/5* Again, I was disappointed that this wasn't actually real honey and real butter, but the flavors are still just as delicious! It reminds me of the sweetness of corn. This does get overwhelming sweet after a while, so switch off with the other flavored chicken to cut the taste. CRISPY GARLIC CHICKEN 3.5/5* This only had a slight garlic flavor. There wasn't the typical pungent, spicy flavor of fresh garlic since it was more of sweet garlic chutney. If you love garlic, you might not like this. The crispy batter did start getting a bit soft where the sauce was touching, so eat them fast! CRISPY "YANGNYUM" CHICKEN 4/5* What the heck is Yangnuym? I had to Google it.. wished they had a description on the menu. Anyway, this looks red and spicy, but wasn't at all spicy (at Medium level). It was super sticky and saucy, but still retained the crunch of the batter beneath it. The flavors were also sweet and savory, reminiscent of a sweeter BBQ sauce but with hints of ginger. It would be better to get light sauce or sauce on the side. Vons is located inside a predecessor restaurant, Ramen & More, next to Sushi Hook. So thankful to my friend for introducing me to Vons! The food came out fast and the staff were very attentive and friendly! We started off with edamame, pickled radish and the fried gyoza as an appetizer. The gyoza was very crispy! Wish I had more of those! It was my first time trying Soju and loved it! I usually go to the one on Folsom Blvd and I really like the chicken, the chicken at this location is not nearly as good. They have significantly smaller chicken pieces, the drumsticks and wings here are half as big as the ones the other location uses. (The wing drums were barley larger than a quarter. Seriously...) The chicken is cooked differently too, the chicken I received was super dry and tasted burned. I asked for the soy glaze and they put almost none, if any onto the chicken. If it was there I couldn't taste it. To top it off it had a greasy burned chicken flavor, the frier oil they used tasted old and burned and it really permeated the breading and the chicken and since the glaze was non existent, it was basically inedible. It had a chewy dry flavor like I had gone to a fast food establishment, almost like it was left under a warmer instead of freshly made. Nothing like the chicken served at the Vons on Folsom Blvd. It was on par with the fried chicken that SaveMart serves out of their deli. I ended up returning the chicken because it's nothing like their other locations, they did give a refund but they had the entire staff waiting at the register to inspect the chicken, they all rejected their mistake and denied responsibility like children, acting like it was made perfectly, flat out lying because I've eaten a lot of Vons chicken and it doesn't taste like this. Like I said, I have eaten at other locations of Vons chicken and they have superb chicken, just not here. Likely never returning here to this specific location. Stopped by on a rainy saturday afternoon. Needless to say they were busy. The staff managed to tend to everyone, check up on us, and remain in a good spirits. The place is clean. Although a bit small they do their best to turn the tables around quickly to accommodate people waiting. On this visit I had the Bulgogi Ramen, Medium Spicy and added tofu. I actually pulled up to this parking lot with intentions of going to falafel corner. I've had FC hella times so i wanted to try this spot here. I'm glad I did!! Walking in it seemed cozy but its ok. The customer service was friendly, fast, overall great. I honestly dont remember what I ordered but i do know that it had a miso base. I also ordered half of the garlic chicken BECAUSE I'M OBSESSED WITH GARLIC. My wife got the curry ramen lol pendeja, I laugh because I knew it was gonna be hella thick and when she got her bowl she was like "aww man it's really thick" hahahaha she tasted it and loved it. So it wasn't a complete fail. It actually had a great flavor. My ramen was sooo good and had a rich tasty flavor and you could tell the noodles were fresh and had a nice el dente texture. I seen several new locations open up and thought I would give this place a try finally. Got to try their crispy fried chicken, cheddar chicken wings and their honey butter French fries. The crispy fried chicken wasn't that crispy and it tasted very bland to me. I was hoping for some a nice, crunchy bite.
