I really enjoy going here during the off season, when drink prices and crowds are down. Im sure its a great place to grab a few drinks and some bar food before and after a game but if im not attending a game, im gonna stay far away from that scene.i In the off season it usually stays pretty quiet with a good mix of people. The bartenders are always attentive and friendly. Try the Irish Burger. Nice juicy burger with Irish bacon and egg served on a pretzel roll. One of my top 5 favorite burgers in the city. Attended a 2 yr old's birthday party held on a Saturday at noon. About 30 kids and adults. We basically had the whole bar. The service was excellent: friendly, efficient and helpful. The selection of food is a bit beyond typical bar food and was outstanding. The key was that it was all very tasty and prepared well. We had a variety of items including Italian beef, Italian sausage, pulled pork, cheese curds, boneless wings, wings on the bone and deep fried twinkles. Dubliner just isn't a cheese that's meant to be melted. The crowd was older and friendly. Not a lot of loud, pushy drunks. Overall, a decent experience and I look forward to going back. One thing that bothered me...I checked-in and discovered there was a Yelp promotion. 50% off lunch or dinner if you check in. "Great!" I thought. I showed the bartender and she said she wasn't aware of the promotion, but immediately dismissed it, claiming it valid on game days. Makes sense...but there was NO small print on the promotion indicating that. When folks come over to my side of own, this is my first choice to go for a drink. However, there are other places popping up in the area, so there may be some competition. What I like: It's a really nice place, casual atmosphere, lots of windows that are open during warm weather (which I love), rum and coke's are relatively cheap (its my drink of choice), and there is often a diverse crowd. What I don't love: The servers/bartenders aren't always attentive. I did have a few great experiences with a server, but often my friends and I have to literally wave down the bartender, even when it's not busy. Not sure if it's because I don't know them personally or that I'm not there every night. Also, the food is ok. Not great, given the prices. Finally, the beer seems to be a little on the pricey side. You'd expect those prices on the north side, but not down here. I think it's because they have fancy White Sox plastic bottles. I'll check next time to see if there are non-fancy options. Good think I'm a rum and coke drinker. In conclusion, it's a great addition to the area and I like it. read more

In desperate search of a White Sox bar, we stopped in before the game on Saturday. Was not impressed to say the least. The bartender had literally zero personality and was more like a robot who could only say "yeah". We were at the bar for a little while but were being overwhelmed by the smell of puke. We then moved to the outside tables and drank for about 90 minutes. This place is very pricey for a hole in the wall neighborhood bar. There are a few redeeming things about our experience at Cork and Kerry, the beer, the Irish fries, and the service. They don't have a huge selection of beer, but it was fresh and served nice and cold. It was very loud in the restaurant. It could be that the patrons were just that loud, but it seems that the acoustics add to the effect. We had the Irish fries. The cheese sauce was delicious and the fries were perfectly fried. I had the fish and chips but substituted coleslaw and salad for the fries. The fish was not fresh and terribly over-fried. The beer batter, although there was far too much of it, had a nice flavor, but it was hard to taste because it was so over-fried. The coleslaw wasn't just ok. The salad was the absolute minimum to even be a salad (lettuce and tomato with oil and vinegar). Our server was polite and attentive without being overbearing. Went to Cork & Kerry on a Groupon this summer. The food is above average comfort food. I had a pretty decent nice sized cheeseburger. The bar is very clean and the server was very nice with a pleasant personality. On one occasion, I took my kids here because it was early afternoon and they were raving about the char dogs. I didn't let them sip on my beer so I can't really share their review on that. I'd definitely go back with or without kids. read more

Only been here a couple of times since it's just a stone's throw from where I work. I have been here once for lunch and most recently for an after work happy hour. I recall having a good meal when I went for lunch and quite a hefty serving. When I came back on my happy hour it happened to be on the night of a Sox game. We were served in those little plastic cups instead of the regular glasses. The prices however remained the same. I don't think the glass v plastic conversion was consistent and probably should have been corrected in price as well. The bar was a little slow. I give credit to the guy being the only bar tender and tending to about ten people walking in after work, but I question whether they would have extra staffed on a game day for just that reason. We were there for mostly beer and appetizers...which there wasn't too much an assortment of. If you do like apps as a meal then still consider this place because they had a several slider options. Not a bad place to hit up after work or when I'm in the mood for a burger. I hear it's what they do best. read more

Before I even get started I am going to tell you that you must order an irish eggroll. They are small, they are tasty. When it's just the two of us, one is enough to split. For me it is the perfect bar-food appetizer... and I don't even like cabbage. Now that I've said that, I can give you a more standard review. I am not a fan of sports bars, per se, but I do love good bar food. I rate sports bars based on certain criteria: Food - Outstanding. Great burgers, with creative toppings. You will need an extra napkin. Sides - Ok. Good fries, but not exciting. Service - So/So. I have gone from excellent to terrible service in the same visit. Beer - Cold and wet, but not much to choose from. Vibe - The music is too loud and generally terrible (modern pop and rock) and I've never really been when there has been a crowd so I don't know how that is. Restrooms - Clean, convenient. Value - Average. Funny story, one afternoon we walked over to the bar a few hours before a Sox game. The place was not full (yet) so we had no problem getting a seat. As we are sitting there having our burgers a local came up to try to sell us parking. We explained that we lived nearby and did not need parking. He insisted that we take his number anyway... whatever. The server later came upto the table to inform us that he did not work there and was not affiliated with the bar. I asked the obvious question, "why is he allowed to approach your customers." Her answer, "I don't know." read more

I know I've reviewed this spot before but they never seem to disappoint. I was passing by the other night and decided to stop in. I didn't think I would stay late but I did. The food is excellent, I started with a bowl of Sox tail soup and then I went on to the Italian Burger with cheese balls on the side. As a resident of Bridgeport I was excited to hear a bar and grill would be opening in the neighborhood. The first time I went there is when they first opened last Spring/Summer and was unimpressed. The waitress told me they didn't have 312 even though I saw it on the tapper. She then said "Oh... yeah.." when clearly she just didn't know they had it. No big deal, but the drinks were really expensive for a non game day Tuesday evening. ($6.50 for a pint?) I decided to give them another shot last week. The place has improved a lot since I have last been in there. They actually have drink specials now. ($1.00 beers for Hawks games and $2.00 tall boys of Old Style, PBR and Schlitz) The bartenders were cool and weren't always pestering me to see if I wanted another drink when I wasn't done with my first one. Music was kinda lame but that will happen when you let drunk people pick songs on a digital jukebox, I didn't try the food but people around me did and it looked like typical bar food. All in all it's clearly not the best bar in Bridgeport but it's far from the worst. Check it out if you're in the neighborhood but like a previous reviewer said it doesn't exactly reflect the neighborhood of Bridgeport or it's residents. read more

It is unfortunate that the manager was belligerent enough to tell my friends and me that we should write a review based on our experience instead of actually trying to have a conversation. But nevertheless, this is the venue to which we were resigned. We went here after the wipeout run looking for some food and some cold beer, but were met with despicable service after waiting over 45 minutes to an hour for our food (there were 9 of us and we all ordered burgers...I think of anyone of us have been to a cookout you would realize that is an extraordinary amount of time to wait for burgers). After expressing our frustration a few times, we finally received or food, the majority of which was wrong. Then only a few minutes after receiving it, the manager returned to our table and demanded that we provide a credit card to hold our order and essentially assumed that we would leave without paying. When was the last time you were seated at a restaurant and then asked to pay for your food after you took the first bite? I won't go into the details, but every rational conversation we tried to have after that about the service we received was met with angry remarks and unnecessary condescension. We did not want to leave gratuity, (and there was nothing on the menu or signage stating that it was mandatory for large parties) but did so after the manager hailed down the cops. We had no choice since we were powerless. I live in Chicago, but am not from here so this experience has taught me what many have warned me about. It's a city of segregated neighborhoods and if you go into a neighborhood business outside of your normal jurisdiction, you will likely be met with hate and disrespect depending on the color of your skin. We were not welcome there and so will obviously never go back, but this is not the way it should be. We were a group of young, black, educated men and women who only wanted what everyone else in the restaurant received. But honestly...we never stood a chance. I have to say the tater tots were amazing, so maybe if we go back all the staff can where blindfolds so they don't know what we look like. read more

We came down from the north side and thought we'd try out a bar near Comiskey before a Sox game. The place is okay, it has nice open windows but lacks charm or effort on the inside. Although there is Guinness on a (CO2) tap, this place is really an Irish Pub in name only. Country music was playing. I ordered a local IPA - it came in a plastic what looked like a water glass (like, maybe it was 12 ounces, but it sure didn't seem like it, and it was not an appropriate glass to drink a good beer from) -- $7! actually $7! The bar had maybe 4 people there when we arrived, multiple employees were on their phones most of the time. It was very difficult to get the attention of a waitress, she had to be retrieved by a guy working the front door. After placing our order, our appetizer was forgotten, but somehow we had ordered two of one of our main dishes - there was some kind of super confusing conversation where my wife wanted blue cheese with her wings ordered super spicy, the waitress says, "so you want two?", which I thought was odd at the time, but it turns out somehow that she meant two of the same dish, rather than two sauces with her spicy wings. Considering that there were six wings per dish, this ended up about right. I ordered a burger, it was pretty good, big burger but pretty sure it arrived in a Sysco freezer truck. Nothing special. I had another beer - the "Oakland Special" (Sox vs. A's game) Sierra Nevada ($3 and a can was a superior pour in this place) -- it was just odd that the beer discount would be essentially for fans of the visiting team, in some sense, and a far superior product to their tap selection at under half the price. Just odd. We had to walk back and find the waitress to pay. At this point there were maybe two other people in the bar. I will never go back to this establishment and neither should you! Never have I felt so disrespected by bar/restaurant employees. Not only was the service horribly slow but the staff was rude. 45 minutes after placing our order, I asked how much longer the food would take and was told "I honestly have no clue". She went back and checked and then came back and said "yeah, we have no way to guess". When we continued to ask questions, the waitress simply walked away without answering. When the orders came out nearly an hour after we ordered, most were wrong and one was completely forgotten about, even after asking several times. Given the rude behavior by the waitstaff, we determined as a group that only a small tip would be given. After we had eaten our food, we were told that due to our party size, the tip would automatically included but no where on the menu or written in the bar was there a mention of a mandatory gratuity charge, which is legally required. When we tried to talk to the manager, we were given no sympathy for the horrible service and told that we had to pay. Upon receiving the bill, we noticed that the gratuity was MANUALLY added to the bill (above the subtotal line) therefore making at apparent that this is not a normal charge. I have gone here as a group before and even recommended it to others but never again will I go and I will make sure that anyone I know never goes here either. read more

This place has wonderful burgers and has a nice neighborhood feel to it. The area reminded me a lot Astoria, Queens in New York. The problem came in when I played a song by Eminem and the bar tender announced loudly that "Eminem does not get played in this bar" and turned it off . Really! Wow. It was ironic too because the group in the bar was talking about how people have the wrong understanding of people in Bridgeport. Well, the bartender was not a good example of showing the new, kinder and gentler bridgeport. Not to mention the bartender said he would never go to the Northside for anything. HOLY SHIT...this was Jimbo's!?? You'd never know it. Growing up on the South Side I am all too familiar with Cork and Kerry so I was stoked when I heard about this location opening. The inside is small but very nice and cozy just like a typical Irish bar. There are lots of historical pictures on the wall which I enjoyed looking at. The bartenders are friendly and attentive and they have PBR tall boys! The menu looks fab and the bartender said the food was really good. Unfortunately we had just eaten so we couldn't take advantage of the food. This is a great place to pre-lube before the game, especially because you don't have to pay 8 bucks for a beer. I went on a Saturday afternoon to this bar down the street for lunch with my brother. There were few people there, so the one server was more than able to give us the attention we deserved. Everybody enjoyed the food - burgers and wings went around the table and all were full. I had a 1/4lb hot dog (not Chicago style as it was the visitor's menu) which delivered a delicious punch. I would love to frequent this place more often, and was very excited when it opened... BUT they just don't seem to care. I honestly don't think it matters to them that the place is nearly empty other than Sox games, while the bar down the street is packing them in. The difference between the two is simple.... Cork & Kerry's is not welcoming. NO chairs/table ever set up outside when it is nice out, no music calling you in, servers who are too busy texting on their cells to greet you. This is really a fun place. I live no where near it unfortunately, but I would totally make the hour journey back again sometime. The loaded shakes are a must. I had the vanilla and enjoyed it. My friends had the chocolate-that seemed to be a bit more flavorful. I had some sort of fry concoction that had a cheese mixture on it. Just delicious. Prices were really fair, too.
