Love all of the handmade signs describing the wide variety of unique wines, many based on hard-to-find varietals. I found a Croatian Plavic Mali that is rarely available in the U.S. Wine prices are a bit higher than I expected, but the shelves are packed. A good place to find something out-of-the-ordinary. On the other hand, I was not at all impressed with the beer selection in a medium-sized cooler. I'll stick to other sources for my beer. read more

So glad I decided to make am impromptu stop here, but with a name like Cork Dork, can you blame me? I probably could have wandered this place for an hour (and likely spent my whole paycheck) but we were just stopping in to see what they had. Staff were friendly and helpful. We even got a "we're open til 8 so take your time" comment. Lots of wine I have never seen in other stores. If you are a wine lover, this is the place for you. Not a huge beer or liquor selection, but both are serviceable of you're just looking for sometime to grab with your wine. Cork Dork is a nice little neighborhood liquor store. As the name implies, wine is the focal point here. I don't pretend to have a particular palate when it comes to wine, so I can't speak much to the selection, other than it is fairly sizable given the store's small footprint and that there are many reasonably priced options on offer. What I do care about is beer and the hard stuff. While the selection isn't large for either (especially for spirits), they have clearly put thought into their beer offerings. They have a good selection of local and national craft beers that extends beyond the token lot carried at just about every other store these days The staff are also friendly and knowledgeable - I'm certainly happy to have Cork Dork a few blocks from home. read more

This little shop is my first choice for wine and beer. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Also, they correct my pronunciation in a that super mellow, "I'm going to repeat what you, said, but correctly" sort of way. Which I actually appreciate. I love learning about wine and these guys are willing to impart a little knowledge along with a bottle or two of wine. These guys (and one new lady) are excited about the wine and the food pairings are top notch. The beer selection is limited, but it's a nice mix of local and the usual suspects. If I had any wishes, I'd wish for shelving that matches the gorgeous wines. The vibe is bachelor wino. Eh... Maybe that's just kind of the way it should be. Either way, great little wine store if you've finally outgrown your Mark West Pinot Noir and Ravenswood Zinfandel usuals. read more

Since their move they have raised prices to Edina levels. Their French wine can compete with France 44, but less service. This is not Edina however and management needs to change their snobbery to fit Nokomis. The beer selection is terrible and overpriced. Good wines and lcoation. read more

Just had the best wine shopping experience ever. I've been to other wine stores in the area and I also work for a larger liquor retailer, and I must say, their selection is carefully selected and outstanding. I came in looking for something unique and left with more. The staff seems especially knowledgeable, and are able to admit with confidence when they are unsure. Cork Dorks is a great wine shop for someone like me. I like wine, but I don't know a lot about it. Relying on a friendly, knowledgeable expert (or dork in this case) really helps me find a bottle of wine that I will enjoy without spending a pile of money. One of the major advantages of a smaller wine shop is the owners know the wines they have and they select them very carefully, which I find generally means that I pay less for good bottles of wine because they don't stock mediocre bottles, and also they can help me find a bottle of wine that matches my tastes. The majority of the wine in this shop is between $10 - $20. When I'm hunting for beer, I want a acres of product to choose from, but walking through the isles of a big wine barn is bewildering because I don't speak French or Italian and I don't know valleys or vineyards. read more

The side of the store advertised Lakefront Brewery beer/has its logo. We stopped just for this (being from Milwaukee) and there was no Lakefront beer. The employees said they had "never heard of it." Come on, man. read more

Cork Dork is the 'Cheers' of liquor stores. Nice selection and prices of all the local craft brews and great wines from all over the world. They also have a growing selection of spirits. I recommend a Thursday evening visit for sure. The people that work there are what keeps me going back. read more
