I read some reviews prior to eating at Cormack's Deli. I felt like I was already forewarned about the possibility of rude service at the counter. It was true. The woman at the front counter who takes the orders was not the friendliest. That being said - I was ready for her. The sandwiches were huge and delicious. Full of meat!! Bread was soft and fresh. They even have a good dessert selection from homemade pies, cookies and brownies. I would definitely come here again despite her attitude. They have plenty of indoor seating and parking. I keep getting a note from Yelp to try out Cormacks Deli. This review is long overdue since I have went to Cormacks many times. The first time was ~7 years ago, it was great then and it hasn't changed I particularly enjoyed the soup and Rueben sandwich. The food and service is great the view is one of the best in the area, I look forward to the next time I stop by.. I'll preface by saying I have been a customer of Cormacks deli for years. Normally a good experience; order a sandwich, enjoy it and move on. My experience on 7/16/25 was much different. I had called the day prior to see about pre-ordering 8 sandwiches for noon on the 16th. I was told no pre-orders. Ok no problem. I asked what was the best time to try and get the order in and was replied with "look we had 60 people out the door before open today, so if you want to order, come and wait in line like everybody else". Ok, fair enough. So I arrive at 10:30 the day I need the order, not a car in the parking lot, so I ran an errand and came back at 11:30. Maybe 4 vehicles and about 8 patrons in the deli. I wait in line for about 5 minutes and ask to place a to-go order. I was declined and told no more than 5 sandwiches.(mind you there is a chalkboard sign that says orders of more than 5 sandwiches is ok, if parties are present to pick it up) and I was advised the day prior to come and wait in line to order, yet turned away from following their advisement. Also of note, there were no further customers behind me in line waiting to order. So I was turned away from the deli...for ordering sandwiches... just find that odd. TL;DR Cormacks advised me to come in store, wait in line to then decline my order of 8 to-go sandwiches. It was pretty unprofessional and inconsiderate. I took my business across town to Toski Sands and they helped me on the spot no problem. And they were great sandwiches at nearly half the price. This order was for a meeting with a local healthcare organization per their request. Unfortunately Cormacks won't be recommended for future events until they can hopefully remedy some basic customer service. read more

Paco's Favorite - turkey, lettuce, avocado slices, provolone cheese and sweet mustard on a honey-wheat bread- wasn't my favorite, but by golly, it was an amazingly tasty sandwich ($13.95). Such generous portions that I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner along with fresh corn on the cob. My spouse ordered a sandwich with corned beef and pastrami on toasted honey-wheat bread with melted Muenster and Swiss cheeses and a bistro sauce ($17.95). Amazing! Although the food is a bit pricey, we will return to try other sandwiches or maybe one of the 3 or 4 made-fresh soups the deli offers. A variety of salads and desserts also are available for purchase. Patrons order at one counter and pick up and pay around the corner at another counter-- which also features baked goods. The deli is clean with plenty of tables and what looks to be an outdoor balcony patio. read more

This is our third year of spending August-September in the Petoskey area. We learned about Cormack's through a friend so decided to try it out. They were shorthanded, so the wait was more than usual our friend said. We got there at 11:00 and by 11:30, people were lined out the door. You order at the counter then find a table and they'll call out your name when your order is ready. I ordered Nate's Niche which is a Corned beef, pastrami, Muenster, Swiss, and bistro sauce on grilled honey wheat bread for $16.50. It seemed a bit pricey, but when my order was ready, the sandwich was so huge that I only ate one half and took the other half home which I ate for dinner. The meat was fresh and ample; the bread was obviously freshly baked on site ... delicious. My wife's and our friend's sandwiches were equally delicious and large. The only downside is the lack of adequate parking and I am told that the neighboring businesses will tow your car if you park in their designated lot. The eatery is very clean and the employees are accommodating. There are also quiches, potato and macaroni salads, a soup bar, cookies, chips and everything else you would need for a picnic lunch. Business hours are 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. I advise you to get there when they open or wait until 2:00 ish for parking. We'll definitely return. read more

I have heard from many people how great the food is at Cormack's and had yet to try it. On Monday we came to town and decided to finally give them a try. First impression, nice, clean deli. Second impression, they really do not like their customers. Third impression, WAY overpriced. We walked in and there was no one else in the deli, middle of the afternoon. We walked up to the board to read the menu. A male walks up and says to us, "What's your order?" I said, "We are trying to decide what we want." He says, "You are standing where you order," and walks away. Ummmmm, okay. So about two minutes later we are ready to order, he doesn't come back. After about three minutes, he is doing other things and I say loudly, "We are ready to order." He walks over, doesn't say a thing, we begin our order. My husband goes to get a fountain drink in a little plastic cup, I go to get a family member a water and see they have tall cups behind the counter for the fountain drinks. There is a female employee behind the counter, I say, "Could we please get two of the cups for fountain drinks?" She says, "We have a lot going on right now," gives me a dirty look and hands me two cups. WOW! Thankfully that was the end of our needing anything from the staff, but shortly after we sat down an elderly couple came in to order. All I could overhear was this same female employee telling them how busy they were and being so rude that they turned around and walked out. She then preceded to complain to the staff about them. Now for the exorbitant prices. We ordered three Reuben's, three bowls of soup, two sodas, one water, and one bag of chips for a grand total of almost $95. Not. Even. Kidding. For those prices you would think they would have some gratitude for their customers, but nope. I rarely take the time to review anything on YELP, but i have a dual degree with one of them in Food Service Mgmt. and this experience was so different then what I went in expecting that I had to post about my experience. I try to support local businesses whenever possible but this is not one that I will revisit. I will find another local restaurant that actually appreciates their customers, and when I want to spend over $30pp for a meal, I will choose more than soup and a sandwich. read more

If you've seen the Seinfeld episode of the Soup Nazi then you'll understand this review. It's hard for me to write as it is a good sandwich. Probably the best thing in petoskey, which I'm sure is the reason they get away with their bad attitudes. I've never been to a restaurant before that resents having customers. You walk in and they hate you immediately. Stand behind the cow!! Only two sandwiches!! Stand outside!! The woman taking the orders needs to not be in that position. She can't handle it. Not a personable person and angry you're even there. I felt like Elaine ordering and getting banned if I talk too loud. Guys, act like you're happy to HAVE customers and that you're IN business. Food- saddest turkey sandwich I have ever had. It was just turkey, lettuce, and mayo. The turkey itself tasted like something out of package. Onion bun was cold and sticky. Service- beyond rude. Stated we do not have tomatoes for sandwiches and will not customize your sandwich. We have been busy ...either you take the sandwich as is or don't order anything at all. This is one of those places that exist because of their location, not because the food is great or the service is outstanding. The food is completely over priced, not necessarily their fault considering the inflation we are dealing with but what makes it a one star is the fact that the customer service SUCKS! You are greeted by a sign that says dont pass by until you're told like you're a child and god forbid you ask for a substitution. IF they are able to do it they will remind you that they don't usually because of some stupid reason. While I waited 30 mins for 4 sandwiches I watched a short angry older lady in back roll her eyes because the customer that ordered a quiche wanted it hot and stormed back to warm it up in a microwave. I eat out everyday as I am on the road and I will avoid this establishment every chance I can and so should you! read more

Cormack's is a favorite of most people. They have several different sandwich options, that are displayed on large boards on the wall behind the counter. They also offer some pre-made desserts that are also delicious. (If you have room after eating your large sandwich). All the staff is friendly and helpful. You can also buy some homemade treats/breads and locally made items, like Mike's mustard and potato chips made in Traverse City. It is sometimes hard to find a parking spot in their small parking lot. It's worth the wait though since it's a fun place to eat! read more

Don't believe reviewers who are saying that this place makes great sandwiches. The bread turns gummy when in the mouth; the meats are water-logged and lack flavor; the mushrooms on the Philly cheesesteak were from a can--this was one of the worst dining experiences in my wife's and my memory. Staff approved food allergies only. I never thought I would see my wife bullied for her medical condition. She used her gluten free finder app to find somewhere we could eat and she wouldn't have to spend a day in the restroom. Too much to ask of these guys. Excellent huge sandwiches.....menu is fantastic. You can never go wrong with the homemade soup either. I grew up on their meat pies and I still crave them. Wow, amazing sandwiches, soups and desserts! Took the family, including grandparents and everyone was happy. The sandwiches are so fresh and big enough for two to share. The tomato soup was different, with lots of little tender cubes of carrot, we loved it. We tried the rice pudding, lemon meringue pie, brownie and carrot cake for dessert and all were excellent, especially the carrot cake. I had the last bite and my husband was really bummed. We got there just before the lunch rush, and a good thing, that place was hopping! It is a drive from where we live, about an hour and forty-five minutes, but if we happen to be out that way again, you can bet we are definitely stopping at Cormacks! read more

Staff is friendly enough, though too busy to really welcome you etc. Protip: do not order a hot or grilled sandwich at lunchtime unless you are prepared to wait up to 30 minutes. Also, after we got home....we had someone else's sandwich. So that's a bummer someone else got veggies instead of meats. Don't call if something goes wrong....no one will answer. Good luck to you.
