Mediocre food and seasoning only had a covid experience but it still should have been better

We, my husband and I were very impressed. It was tasty, to use his words. We will probably be back. As for price, things are at market price so if you miss it on the board coming in you can ask and they are happy to tell you. I had Cajun seasoning a medium spicy. You can get the house non spicy but it was still a little for my husband. Tables, they lay a wax paper down where you thow your leavings. No plates, fingers are used, but you can ask for fork and plate but warning not what you would expect. More of a paper tray they would give you fries. So be prepared to use lots and lots of napkins. This is a very good place !! The ambient is great and the place is very spacious. We ordered cajun wings, 1 onion rings, 24 pieces sausage, 1 lbs shrimps with special sauce and 1 lbs shrimp with lemon pepper. The lemon pepper sauce was fabulous. Came here bc hubby had a craving and likes Boiling Crab. Kids loooooooved it. They loved eating like dirty pigs on the table top, with hands and eating seafood. Food was great! The Corn n crab seasoning on the shrimp was yummy..."Medium spice" was less spicy than the cajun fries. Plus you peel off the shell which gets rid of most of the spice and can redip shrimp into sauce. Market price for shrimp was $13.95/lb. Dungeness crab was $20.95/lb (but didnt order it). Shrimp was cooked well..not overdone. Garlic butter shrimp didnt really taste like garlic butter but wasnt spicy and kids liked it. Have to get fries to help neutralize all the flavor. The cajun fries were really good but REALLY spicy! Made kids drink a lot of water! Garlic grilled oysters were okay...prob wont get it again...kinda too small. Maybe will try raw oysters next time. Crab fried rice was good but a bit bland. But if you dip your spoon of fried rice in the corn n crab sauce, it tastes really good. Kids kept saying they wanted to come again! Fun experience and good food! Glad we have a place like this in the valley! I want to take friends here! **Update: I cant handle the sauce, I guess. Everyone was fine but me. My tummy hurt all night. This place was the biggest disappointment. I spent $100 with tip. My wife and I and 2 kids decided to try this place. The menu online looked good, so we really looked forward to it. First of all our waiter was very rude. An example is that we ordered three soups with our four dinners. The dinners were served before the soups. When I told the waiter we have soups that haven't been served he very rudely said "they are coming". Ok, I still had high hopes. I wished I had canceled the soups, after the interaction with the waiter. Almost $8 for clam chowder that was obviously from a can, and microwaved. Two soups piping hot, and the third, mine, luke warm; and very very bland. My wife had the cat fish, which wasn't bad. But over priced at almost $16, my kids and I had the Cajun combo which at first glance looked pretty good. But on further inspection was hardly worth the $17 price for very little seafood and a bed of fries. Honestly worth about half the price. And very inconsistent, my daughter could not eat hers because it was way too spicy. I tasted it and was shocked, my order was spicy but nothing compared to my daughter's. On the way home I had to stop and buy my daughter nachos at Taco Bell. Don't waste your time here, you are much better off going to Kicking Kasian in Northridge read more

I came here for a second time and the experience was much better. The service was friendly and quick. The shrimp tastes much better and the skin wasn't hard to peel off. It's not busy which is a plus since you rarely have to wait to be seated. I will be coming back! read more

I work down the street and decided to check this place out, great atmosphere. They open at 3pm which quite frankly, I thought was a bit odd. I ordered take out so unfortunately I did not dine-in, however, I would've really enjoyed dining-in, it wasn't as busy and the music they played was your basic R&B. I ordered the peeled shrimp with quail eggs and potatoes with steamed rice on the side, one word, FANTASTIC! My mother requested the same meal and was pleased to conclude the shrimp sauce wasn't as salty as many other locations make, which didn't make her feel as bad for consuming due to her high blood pressure. I also ordered the cajun shrimp basket which was delicious, it comes with a special sauce and honestly, the sauce compliments the incredible shrimp flavor. I absolutely loved everything that we got for dinner and so did my family members. I will gladly be ordering from here again. We are a family of five and our total was a little over $100 and under $150, which I thought was reasonable for such an extraordinary meal and not to mention, we had enough leftovers to eat for lunch the following day! read more

My review is based strictly on the food as I used Door Dash to bring me my dinner. Ordered the shrimp and crawfish in the mild house special sauce. Sauce was very flavorful (although it has a brownish not so appealing look) especially over the steamed rice. Shrimps and crawfish were decent size. Prices are similar to all the other places like this $14.95 for a pound of shrimp. This was wonderful! Started with the Cajun onion rings that were crisp, well-seasoned, and served with a yummy dipping sauce. The shrimp was tender and the sauce tasty! We recently had a little baby girl and haven't been out in a long time. We came here last night after 10 months of not going out. We already know what we wanted since we looked at the menu on the way over. We ordered a bucket of beer and the combo for 65$. I walked away for a 15 minute phone call and when I returned the beer was still not at the table. I had to walk over and ask for it (the server had 4 tables) when our food finally came. Dustin pulls it out the bag with a giant hole in the bottom of it. Sauce goes all over my gf (which is extremely hot) and all Dustin says is oops I'll get you more sauce. I had to pull ice from my water cup to put her her arm. I've've been I've been in hospitality a very long time. All I can say is just wow. This is the first time I've been to these kind of establishments (boiling crab, crab n grab, etc.) and I was pleasantly surprised by the service and food, considering that this is also a relatively new place. I tried 1lb of garlic butter crayfish medium heat and it was amazing! The medium heat had a bit of a kick but it wasn't too bad for me, I usually don't handle spicy too well, but this was perfect. I also tried some of my mom and dads order of the clam chowder and the fried catfish with fries. The clam chowder was pretty plain and bit too watery for my taste, I usually like them a bit thicker. The plain taste was actually a good thing to me because there was so much flavor and spice in the other dishes that the clam chowder was a good respite before I went back into the crawfish. The catfish had great flavor, but the crunchy texture to soft fish texture ratio was a bit off, it was wierd to me crunching through the fried portion and into the very soft fish. I got used to that quickly and enjoyed every bite. The fries that came with it were absolute perfection! Crunchy, Salted just fine, and with a little bit of seasoning. Big shout out to the staff that day! The host quickly found us a table and got us started with a smile. Our server, Andrew, was polite and always checked in on us every once in a while to fill our drinks and make sure everything is up to par. The owner and his wife even came in and sat down with us to discuss our experience. He wanted to know everything that could be improved upon, and really took every suggestion to heart. The market prices are on a board when you first walk in- great for not having to make the server read it over and over again. The food was delicious, I ordered a lb of shrimp with potatoes and sausage- in garlic butter with medium heat and a side of oysters. Everything was made to order and so fresh. I will be coming back again soon. My oysters were so delicious, I ordered another order. My spouse ordered the cat fish basket which was delicious as well, the french fries were so crisp and just the way I love them. My kids split the cajun shrimp basket- that was a hit for them. Totally earned all 5 stars! I have to admit the location was unexpected but once inside, our great experience was underway. Andrew was great at explaining the menu and answering questions. One order of peeled shrimp made into a combo and one order of snow crab legs with a 1/2 lb shrimp made into a combo. I saw a picture on instagram and drove all the way from Hollywood. The place is in a plaza in Canoga park. The interior is ok, the ambience is nice, nice music, friendly staff, but the food is nothing like the one advertised. To try it out I ordered half a pound of peeled shrimp (picture attached). The server just poured a bag on top of the table, it was minimal and far from anything appealing. 8 shrimps, a piece of corn, two small pieces of sausage and a potato. I couldn't believe 8 shrimps would weight half a pound. I felt so mislead that on my way home I bought 12 pieces to check, they weighted 0.365lb. This is a very clean restaurant with pretty good service. Came here with the family and everyone seemed to enjoy it but were not particularly impressed, not somewhere we would come to again unless we were close by. The restaurant itself as mentioned is very clean and has some nice music playing, definitely geared towards a younger audience. It's not in the best area but there is plenty of parking. The rice and shrimp were over cooked. The authentic flavor is too salty and nothing like other Cajun restaurants I have tried (it's not red) but it's not bad. The clam chowder is very watery. My friend got the muscle 1lb bag with garlic fries while my other friend got 1lb of shrimp with sausages and rice. I got the clam basil plate with rice. My friend's bag that had muscles barely had anything. Such a disappointment. The garlic fries were nothing special and extremely oily. I ate one fry and it felt like I drank oil. Disgusting. The clam with basil and rice tasted okay but wasn't worth the $12 for such little clams. Not worth spending your $. This place also confused the hell out of me. Spent $50 here (for 1 order) and I could've been more impressed. But I was not. My order included snow crab legs, corn, potatoes, sausage and shrimp. First of all the sausage tasted like the generic Kroger pork/mystery meat sausage that you see marked down from $25/lb to $1.32 for 5 lbs. How about shelling out a few extra bucks for authentic andouille sausage? Or at least a hearty 100% beef sausage? Other than that, I DO appreciate the fact that NONE of the food in my overpriced order---was overcooked. (Hence the 3 stars) However the snow crab legs and shrimp did taste like the "previously frozen" fare that you take home from the Ralph's seafood section. You know, the kind that is marked "Regularly $300/lb, but if you have a club card it's $3/lb...and you've saved $297 per lb?" LOL...that's what I'm talking about. The place was stark empty when I went in---and THAT should've shown me something ---but I took the risk anyway. Over all, I think the food was "okay." A bit over priced for what I received, but it was late night, I was hungry and I took into account that I AM a picky eater. I took my 2-3 sample bites ----and put the rest in the fridge. Technically this is a 4.5 but I am reviewing UP because of the customer service and drive of the staff. If you are looking for traditional Cajun food this is not the place. There are no hush puppies or corn bread (instead French bread). There is no sweet tea (but the do provide sweet and low of you ask). The decor has a strong Asian influence which is unusual when you expect a Cajun restaurant. Still, it added to the charm and uniqueness of this place. The gumbo was delicious but wasn't piping hot and some of the shrimp inside was cold. The Cajun chicken was delicious. The service and attitude of staff were great. Will come back but really wish they had hush puppies and corn bread!!! read more

Decided to try this restaurant out and had an ok experience. 4 stars because the service was slow but the food was good. We ended up ordering this combo deal which was $43.95 and is a good portion for 2-3 people. When I dined in at around 8:30pm the restaurant wasn't that busy. Our server was nice however forgot to give us our drinks. I think the servers should be a little bit more attentive but other than that can't complain it's a decent option of Cajun food in the Canoga Park area if you don't feel like driving to Northridge or Calabasas. read more
