Came here for the first time on a Friday night to celebrate a special occasion with a few friends. I always wanted to try this spot since it opened but I'm finally to be able to go here. They were very busy this night and the parking lot had a couple spots open, but we were able to go park. I like that we got seated right away, and it was around 10:30PM. I didn't realize the layout was pretty open-aired a little, there's tables directly out in the patio. It was a heatwave type of week so the nights were hot, but overall I had a nice time here. I don't usually have any stomach issues eating Kbbq, but for some reason my stomach was hurting probably 10-15 minutes after eating and it happened the entire meal. No one else felt the same way though so maybe my body was off on this night. I think the meat quality wasn't too bad, but I've had better. We almost got the supreme AYCE menu because we wanted a specific thing on the menu, for example the steamed egg but we were able to get it for a la carte. It's $3.99 when ordered separately outside the standard options. Staff were ontop of changing our grills and asking us for what meat we'd like to order next. Props to them! read more

Never had been to a kbbq spot that offered beef tallow to prime your grill with!! Loved it and all of the meat options. Plus there were a wide variety of appetizers to choose from. My kids have been here with their Dad but it was my first time - my younger son wanted to go here because of the meat selection. He tried the tongue before and wanted to order it again so we have to do the premium as that includes beef tongue. We went here on a Saturday after 3pm so it's in between the rush period so there were a lot of seats available. Our favorites were the prime beef belly (melts in your mouth) and of course we got all the meat that came with the premium. Also got the prime brisket, for seafood we got lobster and squid. They have the cheese melted on corn, chapchae and steamed egg in the apps which we ordered. Other k bbq places don't give you fat - they have fat for the stove so you melt that fat before you put the meat in. I just had to ask them to replace the stove too 2x . I think the exhaust is decent, compared to other places. Overall good choice for the k bbq in the valley. read more

I thought it was good overall, but for Korean BBQ, I expected a little more. I've been to quite a few Korean BBQ places, and unfortunately MGD didn't really stand out to me compared to some of the better ones I've tried. Nothing was terrible, and there were definitely some good parts to the meal, but I left feeling like it was just okay. The biggest issue for me was the consistency of the meat. The brisket was basically what I expected, nothing wrong with it, but nothing particularly memorable either. The bulgogi was a bigger disappointment because it was a little too tough and chewy for my liking. The Wagyu steak was actually really good the first time we ordered it, which made it even more disappointing when the second order came out and was nowhere near as good. It felt like we were getting two completely different experiences with the same item. The side dishes were actually one of the highlights for me. I really enjoyed them and thought they were much better than some of the meat we ordered. There's also a pretty good variety of things to choose from, so I can see why people enjoy coming here, especially if you're looking for the whole AYCE Korean BBQ experience rather than just focusing on the quality of individual cuts. Where MGD really impressed me was the service. Our main server was fantastic. He was extremely helpful, checked on us regularly, and actually took the time to explain things and make recommendations instead of just taking our order and disappearing. He helped us decide what to try and gave us his honest recommendations, which I really appreciated. Someone was always checking on the table, and we never felt ignored or forgotten. Honestly, the service alone made the experience considerably better, and our server absolutely earned his tip. I also think part of my experience may have been because we went fairly early. The restaurant wasn't really in full swing yet, so maybe the atmosphere and overall experience are different later in the day when it's busier. Still, I can only review the experience I had, and for me the food isn't worth me going back. I understand why MGD gets good reviews, especially when it comes to the service, selection, and overall experience. But personally, when I'm going out for Korean BBQ, the meat quality is what I'm really looking for, and that's where MGD didn't quite do it for me. If someone invited me to go again, I wouldn't turn it down, but it's not a place I'd specifically choose when I'm craving Korean BBQ. There are other places I'd rather go to first. read more

Had such a great experience at MGD Korean BBQ in LA! I ordered a little bit of everything -- brisket, beef belly, bulgogi, rice cakes, salad, gyoza, kimchi fried rice, and a few other dishes -- and honestly, nothing disappointed. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious! The service was also amazing! Josh was super cool, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. He was attentive without being overbearing, always checked in on us, and made sure we had everything we needed. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys their job and cares about making sure customers have a good experience, and Josh definitely gave that vibe. Give that man a raise because he deserves it! He was easily one of the highlights of our visit. I was originally given an estimated 30-minute wait, but I ended up getting seated before that, which was a nice surprise. The ambiance is really nice too! There's lots of space, so it doesn't feel cramped, and they have claw machines and fun paintings/artwork throughout the restaurant that give it a really fun and lively atmosphere. Parking: We came at around 7-8 pm and there is a small lot on the backside of the restaurant. The parking was super limited and spots were extremely compact. I almost witnessed several accidents lol! Despite how busy it was on a Friday night, we came without a reservation and were added to the waitlist for a booth for two, the hostess gave us an estimated wait time upfront, and we ended up waiting about 40 minutes with the specification of not wanting to sit outside or on high chairs in the communal center of the restaurant. We put our names down and got a virtual timer/estimator which was helpful and we were notified to check in once ready. Ambiance: The dining area was large and open with a mix of booth seating along the walls, standard tables, and higher countertop seating options in the middle of the restaurant. The ambiance matched what you'd expect from a busy KBBQ spot, lively, bustling, and a little loud. Since we went on a Friday night, the atmosphere was expected and did not negatively impact the experience. Even while cooking at the table, conversations were still easy to have throughout the dinner. Despite the grills heating the air, the temperature felt nice and regulated which is rare with KBBQ and was honestly impressive. Food: We recommend upgrading to the supreme. I think the price was steep for the fact that you are limited to one order per person with certain items on the supreme menu, also for the lack of service. Additionally, I feel as though items such as galbi shouldn't be held behind the paywall of the supreme upgrade...But that's the food landscape of the valley for ya! We got several orders of the brisket, a couple of galbi, beef bulgogi, the prime steak, the giant short rib, radish paper, prime MGD steak and most importantly, only one order of rice between two people. Service: Our server was good and attentive, but the restaurant felt understaffed for a busy Friday and the host was not much help. Our server came once to replace our grill top but we would've wished for more opportunities to order more since you are limited to 3 items at a time. Our server appeared to be intoxicated, my boyfriend could clearly smell alcohol on his breath, and he was stammering and slurring his words throughout the meal. Very disappointing experience, especially for the price. The service was top notch. We had an amazing and attentive server, but I didn't catch his name!That was on me. But overall it was a great experience. We got the standard AYCE menu which was $38.95 for adults. There were plenty of selections- pork, beef, chicken, seafood, appetizers, you name it! We ordered a bit of everything and was incredibly satisfied with it all. They also have a fun drink menu of soju cocktails. I would definitely come back. The price is SO good for what you get. We've been wanting to try MGD for a while now, and we finally got around to going! They have a pretty decent parking lot, and whenever we are in the area it's always packed. We decided to go for an early dinner and we were sat immediately after arriving. They walked us through the Korean BBQ experience and we began ordering. They brought us some sauces and veggies. We ordered the spicy beef bulgogi and the regular beef bulgogi, as well as sides of rice and the sweet and spicy wings. We really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken wings, we had to order another round! The chicken was crispy and had the perfect amount of sauce. The bulgogi was perfect and it cooked fast being so thin, and it was so tasty, we definitely liked the spicy one better. We ordered the chicken and pork bulgogi too, but that was not one of our favorites. The restaurant was clean and the orders came out very fast. They are very attentive to what you need and if you want to order more. We felt very comfortable and VERY full when we left. We would definitely go back, the only reason we gave 4 stars was the price, definitely higher price but totally worth it to be able to order whatever you want! read more

Overall the food was really great. The flavors felt very authentic and we enjoyed every food we ordered. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. I came with three other friends, we asked if our group of four could split into two tables of two. Two of us wanted to grill beef, while the other couple don't eat beef, so separating made more sense for everyone. The server said no and insisted that since we came as a party of four, we had to stay together. I honestly didn't understand this policy, especially since we were all paying for the same AYCE menu anyway. And there was a lot of vacant tables when we arrived (we went at 4:30 pm for an early dinner, so it was pretty empty). Another downside was that the restaurant doesn't seem to have proper smoke ventilation above the grills. The whole place got very smoky. My friend and I was bothered becasue the oil smoke was pretty harsh and irritating. which made the meal less comfortable. So overall: food was great and very authentic, but the service policy and smoky atmosphere made the experience less enjoyable. We ended up spending $230 for four, you can easily find more kbbq options with this price point. read more

I've been to this place so many times either with my family, or friends. Today, I went with my family and my experience (I'm sorry to say) wasn't satisfying enough. We were seated at the high table, which I don't mind at all but, after leaning against the table since I couldn't hear my son talking to me, I noticed a stain on my shirt. It seemed like a sauce from the one of the meats or sides. It was just annoying knowing that they don't pay attention to cleanliness. Who knows if they also wipe down the seats-they could be greasy or just simply dirty! Our waitstaff was nice, but didn't really take care of us. We had to ask him for different things so many times, like refills on soda, needing more napkins or time for grill change. The place wasn't even full and there were a couple of waitstaff and helpers so being busy shouldn't be an excuse. We got the supreme or premium, the one with the lobster and wagyu beef-it was okay, nothing too great about it. I don't know what happened, but somehow the sauce was way too bland! We asked for a fresh one since we complained about blandness, but our waitstaff just took sauces from another table and had the same taste! I ordered a shrimp tempura bit was given to me with no sauce! That can't be shrimp tempura with no sauce! We just had two rounds of four items, because we couldn't take it anymore!
