I was honestly pretty disappointed after reading all the great reviews. I ordered the chicken and waffles, thinking it would be one of their signature dishes, but it was a letdown. The waffle tasted very artificial, and the butter and syrup seemed like the cheapest possible quality. Using real butter and real maple syrup would make a huge difference without adding much to the cost. The chicken had a nice crispy texture, but it was surprisingly bland. It really needed more seasoning and a little more salt to bring out the flavor. To top it off, the wait was much longer than expected, especially considering there were only a handful of customers in the restaurant. We got to Les Sisters before they opened but they opened the door a little early. We were the first ones in and ordered right away. Very sad there's no more buttermilk pie available in the restaurant. If you order catering you can order a whole pie. My friend was sad no more shrimp and grits. My smothered chicken with extra gravy was delicious as always. Red beans and rice was tasty but I think it could have simmered a little bit longer. It was good but some dishes taste better the next day so they have time to soak up all the flavor. No more soda fountain. Auntie at the counter has to go in the back to get you ice water. We had a chance to talk to Jess and I straight up asked what's going on? Jess is up front doing the day to day restaurant stuff. It's been a while since our last visit to Les Sisters, and while the menu has slimmed down since we were here last, the food is just as good as we remembered still delicious and consistent as ever. We ordered the shrimp jambalaya, smothered chicken with a side of yams, and the killer chicken po'boy.. The shrimp jambalaya was hearty and full of flavor, the smothered chicken was boneless and tender with rich gravy, and the yams were the perfect sweet complement. Ordered a Family 5 pack for delivery. What a treat! The ordering process on GrubHub was easy. The delivery was very close to the promised delivery window. The driver was a very nice man. Homey and fun decor in walls. Plenty of seating and bright and clean. I ordered the shrimps and grits with a side of hush puppies. The portion was very generous, grits were creamy and the shrimp were soft not overcooked. There was sliced sausage on top that was added to the dish. It definitely added flavor and medium spice to the entree. Since I am not at all the spicy food person it was probably minor for most people- just spicy for me. I ordered a large order of hush puppies but should have gotten a 4 piece. It was a lot of food. I am used to a more savory hush puppy than a cornbread type with maple syrup on the side. Very good, very authentic Southern soul. Not a good place to go if you're on a diet. Everything seems to be a heart attack on a plate. The smothered pork chop's insanely good, just bring a defibrilator with you. At least stop by and bring home some outrageously good fried oysters. The fried chix is excellent. Come here to pack a deluxe Bowl picnic. The room itself is not inviting. It looks like a bus depot. I suggest taking it home. Also a fun choice for food for a party, providing you supply plenty of salads for those sane but boring folks who aren't so interested in indulgent, fattening food. But it's a once in a while treat, okay? And those oysters... Not hungry? No problemo. Just stand outside of the place for a few minutes. They gave us a bowl of gravy...there was extra gravy, which is the right way to do it...don't mistake extra for left over-we ate it Mac n cheese. It's delicious and saucy. Just a heads up for those expecting a flavor, it's more creole oriented in flavor, so expect some seasoning and flavor. Otherwise, recommended! All of the desserts are delicious, sincerely, pick one and try it, cause they are all good recommendations. Killer combo. Ok, y'all...I need you to understand how difficult it is for us to come here and NOT get this.... I spent $47 on the supposed grilled fish combo and the hot links which was terribly nasty. The fish was slimy. It was not cooked. It seems like they put it in a salamander but not for long ago it lacks seasoning flavor. They're hot link was completely not cooked or grilled taste like it was put in the microwave. The macaroni and cheese was slimy with overcooked noodles and the greens had absolutely no flavor or taste. Tried this place one time before and came back again. They have a few different menus with different prices so it's not clear what the price is, but we got the lower of the 2 so I'm not complaining. I got the fried catfish, and I know it sounds trite to say the breading was light and crispy, but it was exactly that! It's very thin and doesn't overtake the flavor of the fish, which was very welcome. For sides I chose Cajun friends and collard greens, and it was way more collard greens than I expected. Their lunch special seems fairly priced, but overall, the dinner menu can be pretty expensive. Food - 3.5 The food is generally good, but some dishes definitely stand out more than others. My jambalaya scramble smelled delicious and was quite a large portion, but the flavors were a bit muted. While it definitely triggered memories from Mardi Gras, I wished for more of that true New Orleans kick. My wife's fried catfish and collard greens looked and crunched exactly like what I remember from NOLA a few months ago, but it too was a little bland and could use more seasoning. I'm not sure if they're aiming for a more West Coast palate with tamer spices. However, my son raved about the Biscuits and Gravy (and I had to agree, they were amazing!), and the Red Beans and Rice I tried a few bites of were also good. Finally made it to the new location and we were blown away. We had frequented the old spot but just never made it to this new location. Atmosphere: Bright and Spacious completely inviting tenfold better then the old spot. We were greeted by a ray of sunshine, we felt the southern comfort the moment we stepped through the door. Food: We ordered both dishes Spicy (not really spicy just perfect and seasoned exactly as it should be) The food does take around 15 min as it is fried fresh while you wait. 3 Piece Dark Meat Fried Chicken & Mac & Cheese - crunchy juicy perfection, not overly crispy just the right amount of seasoning. Big pieces of chicken. Mac & Cheese was unique and smoky/sweet very good. 3 Piece White Meat Fried Chicken - Also perfectly fried, breast and wings were a knockout. The coleslaw was AMAZING, total throwback to the coleslaw made at the old PANTRY in LA for me. Sweeter than your average coleslaw but i couldn't stop eating it. Hush Puppies - MUST GET fried sweet and delicious Biscuits - soft and crunchy very good, eat these quickly along with everything else or they harden up. The cooked greens had raw uncooked onions and the spicy rice had raw hard crunchy bell peppers in them which interrupted the texture and flavor palette. I read the one star reviews and i thought oh boy this will be an adventure! To my surprise food was amazing! The catfish done perfectly, the greens cooked exactly how they do in the south as i went school in Arkansas and do know a bit abt southern cooking! I would say eh to the peach cobbler, somehow it doesnt taste like i remember it probably becuz its canned peach and i really thought they use fresh peach being summer and all!! Holy moly was our meal abundant and delicious!!! Been wanting to go here for some time, but it's a little far from home, but I made the trek finally and it was so worth it! Price point is more than budget friendly, especially considering when you compare it places like KFC that charge the same for half the quantity and taste. The flavors were mouth popping! The fried chicken was so juicy, tender and remained crispy while it was covered and waiting to arrive to my eating destination. How do they do that??? Les Sisters got magic going, I suppose. And it didn't taste greasy, which is quite the feat since it is fried. The service was kind and hospitable, and the place immaculately clean. They were out of their greens, so I subbed for mac and cheese (which I was torn between anyway) and that did not disappoint. Les Sisters somehow looks somewhat more austere compared to when I dined with friends years before the pandemic. Little hints of New Orleans Mardi Gras although the owners hail from Baton Rouge which is still in Southern Louisiana.  Walk up to the counter to order, but then the food comes flowing to your table. On a Tuesday evening, most customers were doing takeout.  1) Cajun Popcorn: Crawfish tails just out of the fryer covered in a corn meal batter which gave it a  pleasant drier grittiness with sweet scent of fresh oil. Nice ketchup & horse radish based cocktail sauce that I pepped up with Trappey's hot chile pepper vinegar & Les Sisters Tabasco sauce which added an enlivening, piquant gastric.   Perhaps it would have been made a more aromatically interesting dish had a bit of Crawfish boil spice mix been dusted on the crawfish before being battered & fried. Huge portion for a single diner, but I'm not complaining.  2) Crawfish Étouffée: Very light colored, creamy, thick velouté-like roux made of flour, plant based oil, touch of butter. Cajun-Créole Mirepoix or the "holy trinity" of bell pepper, celery, onions that is not over cooked gave a refreshing vegetal sweetness & perfume. Black pepper adds a hint of smokey, heat.  Accompanying rice has a buttered scent and is al dente with a bit of a chew to contrast against the soft, velvety roux. Most crawfish Étouffés are more darkened, heavier, more seasoned compared to the more delicate version at Les Sisters. Étouffée means smothered in French.  2a) Side: Standard soft Mac & cheddar Cheese 3) Pork Ribs Full Rack: BBQ here is more home style unlike a more pit master's exacting technique. Ribs seem initially boiled to soften & to siphon off the fat. Then roasted, glazed with their bbq sauce. Meaty, lean comes to mind. Obviously, there is no visible smoke ring.  Bbq sauce here is simple.  Agrodolce/sweet-sour with brown sugar, touch of tomato sauce, black pepper, hint of piquant chile, heavily thickened with corn starch. This may not pass muster for the bbq gourmand, but fine for those who just want family style ribs.  Iced Tea was needed to refresh the palate to counter all the sweet, salty, sour, fattiness.  The lady manning the counter was casually welcoming, friendly and knew Les Sisters version of Southern Soul & Cajun-Créole cuisine. This place is the real deal! We can't believe that we are just now discovering it, as we love Cajun food and boyfriend grew up in Chatsworth. We stopped by for brunch on a trip to the Valley to prep his parents' house for sale. I love shrimp and grits, so I had to get that, while boyfriend had the Po Boy sandwich with a side of collard greens. These were the creamiest grits I've ever had, with a nice amount of heat and spice and lots of hot sausage and shrimp. Absolutely delicious! Large portions, too,; I had to take half of it to go. Boyfriend loved the Po Boy and devoured all of it, and took some of his collard greens to go. We were helped by one of the sisters, and she was just so sweet. We will definitely return.
