Half Pound Shrimp, okra and potatoes with Kuya's special house sauce - magnificient
    Peter M.

Cajun Ni Kuya is a Filipino Cajun restaurant in Northridge. One half of the space is devoted to a food case where you can pick up several Filipino dishes to eat at the restaurant or to take home. That side is named Kusina Ni Kuya and has a vast catering menu. I came here for a carry out from the Cajun side and picked as I did before, the half pound shrimp. The only difference is this time, I opted for the peeled version. This was prepared in the house Kuya sauce, medium spicy, with an extra of boiled okra. The dish did not disappoint and was consistent in texture and flavor, and a glorious mixture of spices as before. This entrée has a lot of oil added to it, but that is what brings out this burst of taste and satisfaction. Everything was soaked with the thick sauce. This time what I did at home was, I boiled a few golden premium small potatoes with skin, sliced them into quarters and added it to the mix. Once it soaked up the gravy of the shrimp dish, the potatoes ascended to a totally different level. So how does the peeled version compare to the whole shrimp version? I would say that the whole shrimp selection is the way to go. The meat is not overcooked and you get the flavor off the shrimp shells too, that kicks it up more than a notch. In addition, the fact that you have to use your fingers to get to the shrimp meat (though messy), heightens the pleasure of the dining experience.

Such a unique concept to have filipino food and seafood boil in one spot so we've been planning to go for some time now. Glad we finally got the chance. We chose the package $45.99 for 1/2lb. of shrimp, clams, mussels, and comes with corn, sausages and choice of rice or fries. It said good for 2 but it was enough for more. We added crispy pata and loved that they cut it for us, so crispy and juicy and the dipping sauce was fire!!! Plenty of parking, good service (with some karaoke on the side). Will definitely come back!!!

Crawfish as long as a dollar bill. That's huge!

Let me be crystal clear--Cajun Ni Kuya just embarrassed half the seafood spots out there. Absolutely embarrassed them. I went in for the $38.99 all-you-can-eat, and what did I get? Not some sad, watered-down, reheated nonsense like other places try to pass off--I got REAL Cajun seafood. Properly cooked. Properly seasoned. Actually worth paying for. I ordered crawfish, clams, mussels, and head-on shrimp, and every single tray came out piping hot, drenched in that bold, garlicky, buttery sauce that hits you like a freight train. Not bland. Not timid. Not "lightly seasoned for the masses." No--this is full-flavor, unapologetic, get-it-all-over-your-hands Cajun. The crawfish? Seasoned all the way through, not just dusted on the outside like some lazy joke. Other spots--take notes. The shrimp? Perfectly cooked, heads packed with flavor. If you're scared of that, stay home and order chicken tenders. The clams and mussels? Clean, tender, not a single one questionable--which already puts them ahead of places charging MORE and serving LESS. And then the sides--this is where it gets ridiculous. Boiled okra, sweet corn, quail eggs, all soaked in that same sauce? That's not a side--that's a statement. Everything is absorbing flavor like it's supposed to. No shortcuts. No laziness. Just execution. And here's what really separates them from the clowns-- the quality never dropped. You keep ordering, they keep delivering heat. Same flavor. Same intensity. No "second round is worse" nonsense. That's what happens when a kitchen actually knows what it's doing. Meanwhile, other seafood spots are out here charging premium prices for bland, overcooked garbage and calling it "Cajun." Stop it. Just stop. This is how it's DONE. Messy. Bold. Loud. Flavor in your face. Hands covered in sauce. Zero regrets. If you leave Cajun Ni Kuya unsatisfied, don't blame the restaurant--blame your taste buds. I'll be back. And I'm bringing an appetite that's ready for war.

Came here with the family yesterday and I really wanted to leave a review, so here it is. I have to start by saying that the Crispy Pata here is the best ive had in comparison to all filipino restaurants ive been in. Crispy, soft, and flavorful you will not even try look for a vinegar sauce nor liver sauce(Mang Thomas) to go with it. In addition, their Kare kare, palabok, and sisig was also amazing. My family ordered two huge plates of Cajun seafood, however, I pretty much ignored it and ate the filipino dishes. Clean establishment and nice classic song vibes.

This place was very good. I like the special sauce. It's like a combination sauce. The food was fresh hot made to order. I appreciate that you are not overly served so you can go back for different varieties. The first round I had shrimp mussels crawfish the second round I just wanted more muscles tried to quail eggs that was unique. They were a little bit more bouncy the white part but they had a really creamy yolk. The flavoring as I said was on point restaurant was clean service was fast the time we went in there was not too many people which was nice and they're right next to a Thai spot inside the same building, which was kind of cool but like I say, give it a try and you decide be aware. The parking spot is very packed in the front, but if you go behind the restaurant, you'll find more parking.

I've had seafood boil at a lot of different restaurants and used to work as a waitress at The Boiling Crab, and Cajun Ni Kuya tops ALL. When you walk in, the interior is bright and clean. We came around 5pm and it was empty so we were able to be seated right away. First off, AYCE seafood boil for $38.99?? Unheard of. Plus open mic karaoke Friday and Saturday nights? It's the most ideal way to spend a weekend evening. We ordered ours with "Kuya's way" (house mix) and it was so flavorful, but not too salty/overwhelming. Everything was perfectly cooked, which was nice as many places tend to overcook seafood boil. Also a really nice touch that you can add boiled eggplant, which I haven't seen before. In addition to the impressive seafood boil, they have many filipino classics like bangus, sisig, kaldereta, and more. The sizzling sisig we ordered came out literally sizzling on a hot skillet and the flavor was incredible. I've already started craving this spot since I went, can't wait to be back soon!

Came to try this place out and was not expecting a karaoke night! Its quite loud, but still very pleasant and friendly. It was so busy that we didn't see the waitresses much and had to ask for water a couple of times, but everything came out ok. We ordered the seafood platter for 2, and it was more than enough food. The shrimp was maybe a little overcooked, but I figure that's unavoidable in the serving style. The French fries were super fresh (and way too hot to eat immediately), and went well with the Kuya's way sauce Overall, very happy with the experience!

Came here for the all-you-can-eat seafood boil and it was awesome. Kuya's seasoning was so good. Every plate came out super hot, in a good way. Wish I could've eaten more, but I was stuffed after 2 rounds. I'm definitely coming back for more when I'm craving some seafood!

Here's a polished version you can use for a review: --- The food at Cajun Ni Kuya is absolutely delicious--they did not disappoint! I loved their Cajun shrimp, crispy pata, nilagang baka, fried liempo, pork sisig, fried chicken and shrimp shanghai. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. Highly recommend! They also have open mic karaoke where you can sing right from your seat--no pressure like being on stage, which is perfect if you have stage fright. The host is funny, and the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!

we ordered the seafood platter, the seafood boil flavor was good but I wish it wasn't so dry. My favorite thing about seafood boils are when the it is drenched in sauce. The portion was a bit small for the price so I'd recommend just ordering the seafood by the lb I guess. The vibes were great though there's karaoke and Filipino dishes you can order as well

    Chantel A.

I definitely recommend Kusina ni Kuya. It's a Filipino Restaurant and has Filipino Street Foods on Fri and Sat. They also have Karaoke. The food is really delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, and the portions are just right. The staff are very kind and welcoming, which makes the whole dining experience even better. The place has a nice atmosphere that feels comfortable whether you're dining with family, friends, or just grabbing a meal for yourself. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and overall it's a spot worth checking out if you're looking for good food and great service.

Or making a dish with it? all while laughing. It makes absolutely no sense. Why did he need to ask that? Why did he need to keep laughing? It is one thing to be friendly, and another to do that. Also it does not matter what it's for, but why did he feel compelled to make those comments? I of course said thank you and stayed kind because that's who I am but after I felt completely attacked. Now onto the food, lumpia was actually delicious. So hopia was not my thing, but definitely some of the best lumpia I've had. It just can't change my experience so unfortunately I will not be back. Thank you. This is based off of the hopia dessert which I tried the one other time I went into this restaurant (was horrid), and my experience today. I will update this once I actually taste the lumpia. I was just so shocked by this employee that I couldn't wait to post a review. Now I don't know his name, but the guy working the front end seemed friendly...until I asked for the larger or largest sweet and sour. I was on hold on a phone call at the same time because I was on a work lunch, and quickly popped in here to grab something, so my mind was fuzzy. Rather than say the 2oz size which may not be the size I wanted, I said largest or biggest side sweet and sour. The guy laughed and held his hands up to make a motion like widening them and said biggest? I said yes the bigger one towards the end. Shook his head and laughed again. Now I don't know what other reason this was funny other than my size maybe? I'm heavier so maybe that was funny to him. It was just rude and honestly weird. I stayed sitting on hold and waited for my order, and once it was ready he just had to ask "is this just for you or is your family making something with it?" I was shocked (still sitting on hold too) and said my family loves sweet and sour so why not and he said "ok I just had to ask" while laughing. Really? You just had to? Did I order a gallon of sauce? Did I ask for something you don't openly sell to customers all day long? I can't possibly think of anything else other than it being so funny, and me being judged because of my weight. So I will never step foot in here again. The hopia is not good anyway which is why it's been over a year since I've gone there. It was flavorless, dry, just disgusting. Apparently aside from the food being horrible quality, you will also be shamed and laughed at. Repulsive behavior and unacceptable. Second and last time trying to give this place a shot. Not worth it. The sauce isn't even filled hahah

I noticed this place on the drive up and made a mental note to try it--and post-hike felt like the perfect time. Kusina Ni Kuya is located right next to Cajun Ni Kuya, and they share the same dining area. The Kusina Ni Kuya side is more of a traditional Filipino *turo-turo* (point-point) setup, where you choose your dishes cafeteria-style. I went with the **beef sinigang**. I was initially planning to order two entrees, but after seeing the generous portion they served, I decided one was plenty. While eating, I noticed trays of Cajun-style seafood boils coming out to nearby tables--interesting to see, even if it's not really my thing. As for the food, the sinigang delivered. The broth had a nice, balanced tang--sour but not overpowering--and it really hit the spot after the hike. Simple, comforting, and satisfying. **Why 4 stars?** Very solid food and portions, but not quite a standout experience that pushes it into that must-go, 5-star category. **Overall:** A reliable spot for Filipino comfort food--especially if you're coming down from a hike and want something warm and filling.
