Was not impressed today at the Corner Bakery Cafe, I was looking forward to grabbing lunch to go but was instead met with an access issue. I have a service dog who is task trained to mitigate my disabilities, and after I ordered I had her tucked in a down-stay in a corner so she would be out of foot traffic while we waited on my food. At this point I am approached by someone who I can only imagine was a member of management who proceeded to tell me I couldn't have my service dog there. I pointed out her vest (which isn't even required under the ADA) and told him she was task trained and there to help me. I was then told that I could stay to get my food, but I was not allowed to bring her back in the next time I came in. I tried to explain the laws and how what he was saying was illegal, but I was cut off multiple times and then he walked off. I am not impressed, and honestly considering letting the local police know if there is another "incident" like this. Not cool guys. I just wanted a sandwich. read more

Came here in the morning with my coworker who swore that this place was great. I ordered an All American Scrambler, a croissant, and 2 cookies. Our food arrived within 2 minutes of us sitting down. I was surprised by how fast the service was. Unfortunately the breakfast platter I had was a disaster. The eggs were very watery. It honestly tasted like they defrosted some frozen scrambled eggs in the microwave. After my initial fork-full, I had to set the eggs aside. The toasted bread was a little limp, but the edges were still crunchy. My bacon strips were cold and the grease had already begun to congeal. I took a bite to taste. The bacon was still crunchy and tasted ok. Would have been better if it wasn't cold. I wonder if I got an 86'd plate that was left over? The potatoes were warm and cooked well. Really interesting flavor to them which I actually liked. They also had a nice bite to them. My coworker's eggs were the opposite of mine and completely dry. His potatoes were cooked well according to him. The croissant was actually decent. It far from what I am used to from living in Paris, but it was a very good try! 3/5 on the croissant. The sugar cookie I got was average. I couldn't even eat half of the chocolate chip cookie. It was just terrible. Would I come back? only to grab a croissant and maybe try some of their other baked goods. Avoid the breakfast platters. read more

I have had chicken salad from close to a hundred different places, and this was the worst chicken salad sandwich to date. Was almost tasteless, but I did notice a weird spice flavor - I normally like spices, interesting tastes, etc. but this almost tasted like if an old Tupperware had a taste. Came in to order a simple egg & cheese on a croissant. I don't eat pork so I asked for no bacon. I was charged $5.60 the same a an egg, cheese & bacon croissant sandwich. I shouldn't be paying for the meat that wasn't on my sandwich. I will go back to Dunkin' they don't charge you for parts of the sandwich you don't order. read more

Overpriced for walk up order and the food isn't very good. At least they don't try guilting you into clearing your own plate. They are not very customer centric either, I stood in line while a cashier went to find a manager to correct a transaction, watched the manager come up and fix it, then stood there while the cashier took a call. All things that should be done after there is no one waiting to order. The manager in the morning is even worse. Their order ahead website sucks too. read more

Nice little cafe with free wifi. Came here for a quick bite one evening. I got the chicken carbonara and tried their "trio" deal. I got tomato soup, salad, and quinoa salad as my trio. Do not get their tomato soup, it was so salty I couldn't finish it. I could feel my blood pressure rise while I was eating it. They drowned my side salad in salty Italian dressing so unless you enjoy your salad tasting like salt water from the ocean, ask for dressing on the side. Quinoa salad was pretty good. If I can remember correctly, there was corn and black beans in the quinoa. Chicken carbonara wasn't bad. It's just a pasta dish with peas, heavy cream sauce, and bacon. Served with a piece of garlic bread. I'm sure this doesn't happen all the time but when they gave me the little baggie with silverware, the silverware was obviously not washed and there were chucks of food. Stopped by to meet a friend for lunch. I ordered a sandwich and soup combo. Tomato basil and the uptown turkey. Half sandwich a little hard to eat without spilling most of it. But both soup and sandwich were good. They have fresca and caffeine free diet coke at the fountain. Dont see that everywhere. I am so disappointed in this place. I went to the DC location yesterday and had an amazing experience so I decided to go to the one closer to home the following day. I get there and the employees did not acknowledge me whatsoever and I didn't know which register to order at. Finally, one employee mumbled under his breath so I approached the register. I ordered my food and he impolitely asked, "So... no bacon or sausage?" I'm no expert, but customer service does not entail making the customer feel like an annoyance. Then, my friend ordered and she asked for a caramel macchiato, which is CLEARLY listed on the menu. The employee proceeded to tell her that he can only make a caramel latte... Why offer things on the menu that you can't actually serve? Finally after waiting, they brought our food and drinks, but didn't bother to bring us straws. Walked into this place at 8:50 all i wanted was 3 cookies...take in mind they have them in the glass in my face 2 workers kept cleaning the floor in my face back toward me and talking to 2 cooks sitting in the windows directly in front of me made eye contact 4 times after sitting there for 5 minutes. i finally asked can i get help and it was as if i was a bother. first time here and will def be my last. shame too cause cookies are good too but i'd rather go to starbucks where i may pay over price for a cookie but at least i get it quick and i'm not a bother. if i could give 0 stars i would. read more

Corner bakery is cute, with a nice atmosphere. I had a great orange and pineapple smoothie, and my husband's steak and cheese sandwich was good. My turkey pretzel sandwich was a big disappointment, though. The bread was dry and stale- I literally threw it away and ate the turkey, tomato, and onion on its own. I visit multiple Corner Bakeries (Crystal City, Tysons, Sterling and Fair Oaks)... on a regular basis. The best one is Crystal City - the worst is Fair Oaks. Almost 9 x out of 10 when I order a meal and a desert to go, the Fair Oaks place leaves out the desert. I live about 4-5 miles away, so discovering this when I get there is not easy to just go back - sometimes in bad weather. In the times I have caught it before I leave, the staff seems barely apologetic. This last time, I think a manager was the one that made the mistake and did not seem at all concerned that I told him this happens a lot from this Fair Oaks location. At almost $3 for a desert, it is not a cheap item to leave out. On top of that their self-serve soft drink dispenser was partial out of order, they even had a sign on it, but when I ordered that - they did NOT mention, oh, some items are out. They probably figured I would just take whatever they had left working. Some other customer there, as I was waiting for my order, stated a similar thing was going on with the decaf coffee - none were available (placed out). read more

Food is so-so. Their soup makes me sick, the breadstick that comes with it is usually cold. But their service is pathetic. If you order ahead- they get your order wrong. If you wait, its 20 minutes minimum. The worst is I've stood there while the cashiers are shooting the breeze and CAN SEE MY ORDER sitting on the warmer, ready to be bagged up and called to me, but it took me 5 entire minutes to get their attention to get my food. HORRIBLE experience. I ordered two things, a salad and a sandwich. The cashier made a mistake and ordered a salad with a sandwich. No biggie. She communicated to the cook and then waited for her manager to help her void the transaction. My problem was not with her. It was with her manager's behavior. He was too busy making a fuss over another guest. He took his sweet time while I stood there. He blatantly ignored me. When he was done, his worker told him what happened. His solution was to charge me for the sandwich as a separate transaction. His cashier rang me up and I paid. Then, I looked carefully at what they charged me. The result was an overcharge to me about $2.00. I came back and pointed it out to him. He was very abrupt with me about it and asked for my card. (No apology for inconveniencing me the first time or the second time.) He then announced, "This transaction has been completely voided." He handed me the receipt back. I dropped it on his side of the counter and reached for it. He said, "Please! Please! I will get it for you." (Umm, WTF?) He then re-rang the order and gave me the new receipt. That's it. No apology, no thank you, nothing. I live very close to this Corner Bakery and guess, what, I will not be back. I used to frequent the Corner Bakery in Gaithersburg ALL THE TIME. I loved it there. This place, however, was completely different. (Oh, and by the way, there were exactly 4 patrons in this restaurant at the time this occurred. Inexcusable.) read more
