If you're looking for a quieter alternative to Panera, this is your spot. I had finished work early and was looking for a cafe near my hotel to hammer out a few hours of work, and this place was the ticket. I ordered a large coffee and a bacon, egg and cheese panini sandwich. I took off one star for the terrible coffee bar placement. It's like a tiny hallway right after the registers that everyone has to walk through, whether they're getting coffee or not. People were juggling hot beverages and trying (unsuccessfully) not to bump into each other, and you had to cut through the exiting crowd to get from the coffee to the covers and cup sleeves. Grade : F-. However, I was able to spend a couple hours here, undisturbed, working and sipping my hazelnut cream coffee (YUM!). The sandwich was good with the nice crunchy bacon slices that are rare in breakfast sandwiches these days. I also noticed a busperson take a big bowl of water out to a dog and I thought that was wonderful service. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. read more

Used to be a favorite place for breakfast or brunch. However, I recently ordered delivery from this location. After an hour, I hadn't received the usual notification that our order was on the way, so I phoned to find out what the holdup was. The MOD said, "Well, it's just sitting here because there's no one delivering." I drove over and picked it up off the table - our food was now lukewarm and tasted terrible - and requested a refund of the delivery fee and surcharge, and was refused. I contacted corporate and received no response. Absolutely disappointing that a favorite neighborhood joint has declined so far. Zero customer service. Especially disappointing as we have been eating here almost every weekend since they opened this location. read more

I used to love getting brownies from Corner Bakery as a kid. Unfortunately, the cafe food is not nearly as good as the brownies were. I had the Chicken "Pesto" Sandwich and the Chicken Rosa Pasta. I put the pesto in quotes because there was literally no pesto on it, just mayonnaise. They were both so incredibly bland and flavorless, and absolutely not worth $10. The pasta was overcooked and unseasoned; the bread on the sandwich was dry and stale. The manager also locked the door at 8 even though they close at 9, and even turned away a family at 8:20. Delicious! I got the Uptown Turkey Avocado sandwich and it had so much flavor! Perfect amount of each ingredient to make it filling. I had a cup of chicken noodle soup and that was good as well! The baguette that came with the soup was soft and good as well. Was too hungry to take a picture of the food, but it was gone very fast! Highly recommend and will definitely be back! read more

The full portions were surprisingly decent. Tried their Asian salad and spinach sweet harvest salad. Both were good in their own way, the different flavors worked well together. Also ordered tortilla soup and steak and cheese sandwich. Lots of meat on the sandwich. One surprising thing is how serious it is for them that you put the table number up. We accidentally forgot and placed it on the table while grabbing napkins and drinks. The manager was a bit rude about it. If it's that big of a deal where you truly are incapable of finding our table out of the 3 tables of customers, then maybe the establishment should give you the table number with the holder. Had lunch at the store in Fairfax at Corner Bakery Fair Ridge. Two guests, two panini sandwiches a cold brew coffee and water from the fountain drinks. The panini sandwiches were small compared to other establishments. The cheese was melted the bread was ok but thin sliced sour dough. Both sandwiches were pretty good. Coffee came out with cream initially but when asked to replace the staff got attitude. There was no water or ice at the fountain station. No return customers here! read more

This place is so bad now. We used to be their loyal customers and have account with them, however, their online order often missing items in the past year, so you have to check your order when you come to pick it up. Last night, I ordered two ham and swiss sandwiches, but when I got home I found that the tomato and red onions are all missing in the sandwiches, so careless!!! Even worse is their staffs' attitude, when I told the manager today that the sandwiches they gave me last night were not right, they said there is nothing they can do. We ordered lunch last week for delivery. The delivery was on time almost, but not enough to be concerned about. What was concerning was that one of the salads ordered was not in the delivery, and one of the other salads contained an ingredient that we asked them not to include on that salad. Our delivery was set up for noon, and I called the store at 11:14 to confirm and was told that they did not have my order!!! The customer service was not good, and I was not at all confident that my delivery would be made on time. I was told to contact DoorDash if I had any problems. I did not order from DoorDash, I ordered from corner bakery. I sent CB an email telling them that I had problems with the order, and I have had no response. At the very least they should refund the missing item and give some kind of credit for the misprepared item. read more

The place was rather empty not busy still no one approached the counter when we tried to order. The coffee urns were mostly empty only enough for half a cup. Food was literally served before we even sat down and everything was ice freezing cold-I mean freezing bacon???which leads me to believe that all the food was pre-made and then just thrown on plates very sloppily. It was freezing cold outside and the inside of the restaurant didn't feel any different it was freezing in there too. Anaheim panini was horrible. The bread was all soggy and everything on the inside fell apart as soon as I tried to eat it. Panini is not suppose to be messy like other sandwiches but this one was horribly messy to eat. I have not tried other menus yet but i rather go to Panera for a well cooked breakfast sandwich. Food is great, Service is trash. Female cashier with an accent is rude and Nassim the manager is Rude, dismissive, and not customer friendly at all. I called to confirm an order I had placed for next day delivery and was yelled at by the cashier because they apparently had already started the order, a mistake THEY made. When I asked to speak to the manager, she placed me on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up, called 2x and no answer. Finally reached someone the third time and was put on hold for another 10 minutes. Nassim told me to call Grubhub and "take it up with them". When I spoke to Grubhub, they informed me that my order was placed correctly and it was a mistake on the restaurant. TIP: Do not order a half sandwich. It is more expensive then order a whole sandwich, relative to what you get. It doesn't get much better than this for fast casual dining. The "newer" location is so much easier to park at then when it was located at the mall. The dining area is ample and they had lots of booths. The coffee area is a bit small but it is well managed because the coffee is fresh and full and the station is clean and organized. They have a gluten-free bread option on the menu now. Their kids menu includes the drink and I love that. I dislike paying extra for a kids drink. I love that they have organic milk for the kids. I love that you can choose carrots or chips as your side. Or an apple, if you ask. The staff is always smiling and helpful, especially if you have children in tow. The area to wait for to-go areas is small, but if you sit down and place your number in the holder, they will find you. Today I order the caprese flat sandwich. You have the option to choose two flats and a side for a combo meal. I can't eat quite that much so I just got one flat sandwich. OMG. That sandwich was amazing! A new favorite for me! The toffee cookie is incredible. Lots of vegetarian options. Tomato soup, caprese flat, pasta dishes. I can't say enough great things...their iced tea...outstanding. read more

The fairfax location use to be in the mall and moved into this strip mall location about a few years ago. I had a free birthday treat that I got from their emails (sign up now for goodies) and jetted over there for a cookie and treated myself to a coffee. The line was long but hence it was lunch time. Nice little deli that serves items such as sandwiches, panini's, flatbreads, salads and other nice menu items. Service here is very nice, and they keep the place very clean. When you order your food, they will bring you out your order. I got the chicken pesto sandwich. I thought it was very delicious. The bread was nice and soft and the sauce was not too overpowering. There was a good amount of chicken in the sandwich and the arugula was a nice addition to the sandwich. The trio menu items look very good and I hope to come back soon to try them. read more

Bottom Line: To me, more of a deli than bakery, but always a comfy spot to grab lunch or a light dinner. What I like about Corner Bakery Café is fresh food, appropriate portion sizes, a clean and comfortable interior and a great selection of caffeine including coffee, Mighty Leaf iced tea and Coca-Cola fountain products. Corner Bakery has healthy options or if you want something more hearty you can go that route too with paninis, chips, baked goods, etc. I personally like the 1/2 and 1/2 combos. You can get 1/2 a salad and 1/2 a panini which is a nice balance. This location has indoor seating and some outdoor seating under an awning. Quick update after my last visit to their new location. Food was still very good, but the service was a little slow compared to the vast majority of our past lunches. One of our dishes took much longer than the other and it looked like it had been forgotten in the back for a few minutes. Pleasant atmosphere at this Corner Bakery. This is a chain cafe, but I think I've only been to one other Corner Bakery back in Arizona so I really felt to the menu when I got to the register. The different combos were a little confusing, but the cashier was extremely patient and helpful. She explained the different options and I never felt rushed. I ordered my food to-go and when my food was ready someone from the kitchen found me in the corner (ha!) to hand me my bag of food. I thought that was cool that they found me instead of me watching the counter for my number to be called. When we brought the food home, everything tastes extremely fresh. I loved their chicken salad. I ordered the Mac and cheese (because, Mac and cheese!!) and chose the option to add bacon and tomatoes to give it a little something. The Mac and cheese was just okay. Not sure I would order it again. It did come with garlic bread though, which looked grilled and had good flavor. I also ordered a chicken sandwich which I couldn't eat that day. Visited here for the first time during the lunch rush. The place was busy but they were handling it very well. The location is good and I prefer it over their previous location at Fair Oaks Mall. The menu is large and diverse, which is something I like about coming here. The one issue I have is that the prices are high, but I guess that's the cost of fresh and tasty food. The staff was nice, but they didn't go out of their way to make me feel like a valued customer. Not that I need that, but when I worked with the public it was a #1 priority, so I guess I expect it at a higher dollar joint like this. The tables were clean and their was plenty of seating. It's a bright start for the new Corner Bakery in Fairfax. CB's move was both sad and happy to me -- sad to not have it as an option in the mall anymore, but happy to have easier access and better parking at their new location on Route 50. The Good: * Atmosphere is fresh and new. Lots of seating and a display case for baked goods make this place look great. * An expanded breakfast menu - they offer more than what's shown online. I had the baked French toast (rich and yummy!), served with three strips of bacon and scrambled eggs. Family members had a pancake plate - four pancakes, eggs, bacon; and kids scrambler - eggs, toast and fruit, plus kid's milk. * The service. A hostess tracked down crayons for us (the basket was empty) and another brought us jelly and more napkins, without us asking. The Not So Good: * The coffee prep area is way too small. Adjacent to the coffee bar is all of the sugars, creamers, etc. -- and a really small counter/prep space. Like, just room for one person at a time. This was particularly busy on a Saturday morning. * The bathrooms. Just two stalls in the ladies room, and the changing table is in one of them. So if you are with a kiddo, you'll likely be waiting. A single sink on a long counter makes a back-up for handwashing too. I love CB and am looking forward to many more meals here! read more

This was my first time here, this place reminds me of a Panera. I liked the selections, there are alot of healthy choices. I had the southwestern salad but made the mistake of not ordering grilled chicken in it because I didnt realize it was an add on. It seemed naked without the chicken. I also had the spicy tortilla soup..that was very tasty but the lemon chicken orzo that I tried was really good. I wish I had ordered that instead. Next time! Love all the coupons I get from them in the mail. This is right by Harris teeter and a very good location for me as it is by my work. I come here a lot for fast and cheap breakfast or lunch. If you have not been it is very similar to Panera in that they have a you pick two option where you chose between a soup, salad and sandwich and they also have pastries. Bagels were mediocre, however if you pay 2.50 for a plain bagel you'd think it would include the cream cheese... nope that'll be an extra 1 dollar for a 1/2 oz of whipped cream cheese. The only reason I am taking a star off is because I have been here three times and all three the female staff is rude as hell. Also they were out of all coffees but one and one ignored me when I told her. Then another time I asked if they had ketchup packets to go and she laughed at me and was like ketchup NO. I've been to corner bakery one time before and I enjoyed their food, this time I was extremely disappointed. I order the salad and soup combo with a Caesar salad and the tomato basil soup. The soup was fantastic; zero complaints. However, the salad was lacking to say the least. They gave me an entire container of shredded iceberg lettuce, 5 croutons and a little shredded parmesan cheese on top with a SMALL side of Caesar dressing. Not nearly enough dressing to coincide with the excessive amount of lettuce. The service was great, the staff friendly but I was disappointed that instead of soup and salad for dinner all I had was soup, because I just couldn't force myself to eat all that lettuce. read more

Our family stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon in July for lunch because the Fair Oaks Mall restaurant was closed. The new location is in a strip mall with Harris Teeter, which is visible from U.S. Route 50. Parking is free and generally available. The interior of the restaurant is clean and pleasant. Unfortunately, we had a terrible server on Saturday around 1:30pm. She forgot half of our order and made a mistake by forgetting to pickup another customer's order completely. It's possible that she was new and getting trained, but the poor service quality did not meet expectations compared to other Corner Bakery cafes. The manager came out to apologize to the customers in the next booth who waited 20 minutes for their order to arrive, and then provided a free dessert. I generally like the food at Corner Bakery, which is kid-friendly. Hopefully, the service problems on weekends will be smoothed out in the months ahead. read more
