I ordered ahead so I went to the table where the pick up orders are ( which is not labeled so it's hard to find) I couldn't find mine so I asked one of the cashiers and she told me that I had to wait in line If she would've been nice about it, I wouldn't be mad but she said it in a completely rude and passive aggressive tone. I decided to have lunch at corner bakery today, i had not dined at this place in about 8 years. wow the quality has gone from a 10 to a 1. my wife and i got the loaded bake potato soup and sandwich combo and a drink. loaded bake potato was watery , no taste and looked weird, the half chicken pomodori was half the size of what it use to be, prices are so expensive now for the quality of food it is. I had an iced coffee med 4.99 with mostly ice, taste was just ok. this place used to be good 8-10 years ago. hopefully they do something about it or this place is going to go out of business. read more

I don't know what's going on but it seems like a lot of restaurants are struggling and their quality and service is going down since covid. I used to eat at Corner Bakery regularly but haven't come since covid started. The quality has drastically dropped from before, its barely anything like it was in the past. PROS: 1) Pasta was decent and almost as it was before. 2) Price is just slightly higher than in the past. CONS: 1) Tables were all dirty when we arrived. Despite it being a slow Sunday evening, none of the tables were cleaned so I had to clean one myself. 2) They used to serve garlic bread with the pasta, now they serve regular bread which was bland. 3) The portion is so small compared to before. Ordered a panini and there was almost nothing in it. It was like 2 slices of bread slapped together. Nothing like what it showed in the picture. 4) The service is not as friendly as it was before, not sure what happened but this is not the first restaurant since covid I've seen drop in quality so much. New ownership?? 5) They were out of several things I wanted to order from the menu. Sadly yet another restaurant I will not come back to ever again. Had a good breakfast here today! Oatmeal was good (wish it was a little warmer though) and a gluten free tortilla. The service was fast and people were friendly. Booths and tables were clean. The coffee canisters that you dispense your own coffee from could use some scrubbing (greasy looking with fingerprints all over them ). Plenty of parking throughout and lots of tables to choose from. Be careful of the birds outside! Lots of poop! I wanted to try Corner Bakery again because I was in the area. I went there to get lunch to go...The man at the register was friendly but that is it. I probably will not be back.. Empty dishes on most of the tables like no one cares to clean them up. Everything was dirty, The ceiling is falling down and everything was old, part of the ceiling looked like it was going to fall right down on a table. I felt like the owner/manager doesn't care to keep their business up to date. It has looked the same for years but everything was falling apart. I ordered the chicken pomodori panini to go. The young kids that work here are super friendly. My husband and I come in every so often for a light breakfast or coffees and sweets. The chai latte was one of my favorites, and the pecan bar is to die for. Some of the bad reviews here are hilarious, but what do you expect from the old Laguna snobs, lol. Given that there are so many options for coffee in the area, it took us a while to come here but I am glad we did. Service was nice and though it was pretty full, our drinks were made quickly and well. The caramel latte as well as the mocha were tasty and extra hot just like I like them. Two hours of nothing but chocolate and no food left us kinda hungry and in search for savory. We decided to see what was cheap and in the area - voila! The Corner Bakery popped up about a mile away. Not too shabby. The place was about 15 minutes away from closing but they still let us in anyway, took our order and were super nice. Since I didn't want anything too heavy, given the chocolate intake, I chose a salad. Their Santa Fe is pretty filling and has great toppings - corn, tortilla strips, tomatoes and other yummy things I can't really remember with a great dressing. Since it was closing, they were generous with extra bread, refills, etc. Pretty cool. We had a great time and loved the extra attention and tried to dine and get out of there as fast as we could. This is only the 2nd time I've been to a Corner Bakery Cafe and I must say, it blew me away again. This isn't a full service cafe by any means, but the service is just outstanding. You order your food and they bring it out to you, but you're supposed to go grab your utensils and whatever else you may need, but most of the people I saw were asking the staff who brings the food out for knives, forks etc. Not once did the staff member say anything but "sure, not a problem". NOW THAT IS SERVICE! The manager even asked one table if they wanted Tabasco or other sauces when he brought the order out to one table. This is seriously some amazing training by this company. Truly a pleasure to dine in an establishment such as this. On to the food. I got the Trio Salad. They have about 8 types of different items you can choose to create your own salad. I think I'm on a crusade against excessively expensive restaurants...Especially those that serve garbage food with an attitude service. Why is that we can go to In-N-Out or Chick-a-Filet and get a meal that's a fraction of the cost while treated like royalty by the delightfully pleasant staff in a meticulously clean environment but then go to a place like corner bakery, pay suspiciously expensive prices for a chicken noodle soup that tastes oddly like aluminum foil and a pasta bowl with soggy noodles? In fairness, the chicken panini thing was decent. When we asked to have the pasta traded out (I just powered through the soup) for noodles that were less likely to induce gagging, we were met by a girl who I'm guessing was a supervisor and was really proud of her supervisoryness. Her tone of voice was filled with annoyance and her competency was just as chafing. Instead of just giving us better food that we already paid for, she said: "Oh, all of our noodles are pre-made and that's the way they come" (gross). At this point I'm resisting the urge to say something like, "Kids these days, am I right?" She then said that the only way to get our money back was to void the ENTIRE lunch order and re-enter everything and then credit us for the pasta (WTH? Isn't it 2023???). 5ish minutes later we were dismissed with our pasta credit secured. Looking at reviews for literally EVERY Corner Bakery Cafe, I've decided to start a Customer Service Consulting firm and make millions helping them turn things around, because....dang. I placed a pick up order using their mobile app. At first it was very frustrating since I couldn't place the order the night before even though the future dates are available in the app. I had to place the order the morning of pick up which is kind of dumb. Panera I can mobile order more than a day out. I ordered a Ham and Swiss Egg Bowl which was very tasty! I also got a you pick two with a Chinese salad which was flavorful and refreshing. Great portion size as well. I tried the Shrimp Scampi Linguini with some mushrooms added and it was very tasty as well. We had to pretty much pick up the dirty dishes ourselves. We ordered a scrambler and pancakes with bacon plate. All of the food was cold. The bacon was so cold the grease had started to congeal. It's the bakery on the corner...hence corner bakery! Came here for breakfast and I am a fan of their steel cut oatmeal. I am not sure what brand of oats they are using, but it is very tasty! They have other breakfast options but I always get the oatmeal because it's not Quaker oats. Plus the combination of fruit and walnuts they put in it is very delicious. I also like their coffee. I usually get the hazelnut coffee and I do not even have to put creamer because it is good alone. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. It is a great coffee shop to study in and people watch. It's a cozy cafe that has a lot of chairs and tables. Also, the outdoor seating is nice too. The staff is attentive and provide great customer service. I also like their power paninis! What is not to love about Corner Bakery? I've had a itching for this cafe for awhile as they are usually far away from me. Luckily moving out to Mission Viejo, this one is close by to my work! The chicken, cheese, fresh basil, tomatoes, and pesto mayo work so well together! The sweet, the savory, it's all in this wonderful sandwich! For soup today I got the roasted poblano corn chowder. This was the first time as I usually get the loaded baked potato which is Saturday only now. A very hearty soup, very Mexican. Good flavor, but I think it could of used some tabasco or something with a kick in it. I also ended the meal with a red velvet whoopie cake. I was suckered into it while I was ordering. Do I regret the treat? NOT ONE BIT! Moist red velvet with a smooth creamy cream cheese frosting inside of it. Definitely a sweet tooth's dream! I really haven't ventured out of my comfort zone, but all the items on the menu look like nothing can be a loser. Breakfast, sandwiches, soups, and salads. I'll update next time around :) Okay service time with delivery of food to your table, and lots of space to eat inside and out. Inside looks a bit cramped so outside is better in my opinion. So so so good. First time here & loved it. I ordered a pasta combo with the Mac& 3 Cheese (with the bacon & tomatoes) + the Cesar salad. I wish I could give zero stars. I came in with my service dog and the manager, Mike asked me if she's a service dog, I said, yes, he then asked to see her paperwork. I then told him that it's against the law to request to see paperwork of a service dog. He then proceeded to say that she needs to have her tags on her, which is also incorrect. We literally had just walked in, no one even said hello or anything, that was our first and initial greeting from them. So rude. Please make sure your employees, and at the very least your MANAGERS know the law before they go demanding things from paying customers. I will never EVER be back here. read more
