Great breakfast and lunch. Have always had consistently good food here. Whether we've dined in or when my dad has picked up food for us for take out, like breakfast. The pancakes are really delicious. They have a unique salty taste to them that really sets them aside from other pancakes. It's fluffy and light yet full of flavor. Just right. Love the panini sandwiches too. And the soup is good. If you have a sweet tooth, their cookies are wonderful. Must try for sure. I've had a few times where my order wasn't perfect that's why the four stars. Otherwise this location and Corner Bakery in general is terrific and I'd recommend them. I ordered the Steel-Cut Oatmeal this morning. Whole grain, steel-cut oatmeal topped with your choice of currants,dried cranberries, brown sugar, toasted walnuts and almonds. Plus, the best part, it came with their homemade Raisin Pecan Sweet Crisp!!! Yum!! I've never had steel-cut oatmeal before. The texture is a little bit different than regular oatmeal, but I liked it! The toppings were awesome! I've had their Swiss Oatmeal, and their Chilled Oatmeal with yogurt, raisins, apples, bananas, etc. I would order either oatmeal anytime! The Steel-Cut oatmeal is warmer, and nuttier, than the Chilled one that's more milky (from the yogurt) and fruity! I added some honey and cinnamon to my oatmeal for an extra touch!! So yeah, Corner Bakery is a chain. This location has the typical menu and decor identified with the CB brand. The menu is semi-Italian with soups, salads, sandwiches, panini, and pasta. They also have a decent breakfast menu: eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, french toast. If you feel like rounding out your meal with something sweet or an espresso drink, they've got you covered. Brownies, cookies, pumpkin bread, lemon bars --oh my. On warm days and nights, you can sit in the covered patio; otherwise there are are a dozen booths and several tables which can be adjusted to accommodate singles, doubles or groups. The service is meh. You order from a counter, get a number and a waitperson brings you your grub. Even though this location has been here for years, they never seem to have worked the kinks out of their system. Waiters have to wander all over the dining room and out onto the patio, searching to match the meal with its owner. They don't serve enough espresso drinks to warrant a barista, so, if you order one either the cashier runs to the bar to make it for you or leaves you waiting for your drink while s/he finishes working the line. I usually never eat at chain establishments but today I was looking for something quick, clean and easy. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, menu options, and convenience. I went with the "Never Settle Choose Two" - I got half a panini, half a shrimp scampi (with plenty of shrimp) AND it even came with a side Caesar salad. The flavors were all there, and I really appreciated the amount of food I got for the price. The bathroom was a little dated and had an underlying smell of piss but it brought back fond memories of my visits to New York City. I avoid this place as much as possible, but sometimes when I'm in a rush I get stuck having to eat here. I can't complain enough about the inconsistency in the iced coffee. I say the same thing every time- LARGE ICED COFFEE and then I sit back and just guess what's in store for me being served from that particular employee on that particular day. Sometimes it's in a 16oz clear cup other times it's in a large 32 ounce soda cup. When they give me the 16oz, I tell them I ordered a large and they will say that the 16oz is the largest size they have for iced coffee. Sometimes they give you refills and sometimes they don't. Today the employee was filling up my large "soda cup" and ran out of iced coffee. He proceeded to walk over to the hot coffee and fill up the cup. I "enjoyed" my watered down slop and then went back for a refill (hoping they made more iced coffee). Even though it was gross I needed more caffeine as I was headed on an 8 mile hike later that morning. I must also point out that sometimes they give you refills on iced coffee and sometimes they don't. Well they were nice today and agreed to a refill. The dude filled up my cup with ice and then filled it up with coffee. I was really pissed because I had a coupon for hot coffee that they wouldn't honor because I ordered iced...but then they turn around and give me hot just over ice! I've ordered the scramble bowl to my office twice now, and it's arrived warm and delicious and perfectly appropriate. So I figured going to this place in person would be a similar experience. I was wrong. My boyfriend and I ordered three sandwiches. He's a hungry sort of fellow, so he knew he'd need two. It took 20 minutes for these items to be ready and when we saw them we laughed. His two "power wraps" were TINY, each held together with a single toothpick. One had a single spinach leaf on it, because that's what we call spinach. Both of his wraps were cold and the cheese wasn't even melted. He finished each in three bites. As for mine, the commuter croissant arrived lukewarm with cold cheese and tomatoes. The bacon was good, at least. It was Sunday morning and the place was busy, but not line-out-the-door, no-place-to-sit busy. So that just tells me this place thinks a cold, toddler-sized sandwich is acceptable, and my dear Yelp brethren, I am here to tell you it most certainly is NOT. I remember Corner Bakery used to have good service and food. The last two times we've been there the food has been bad. My sandwich was dripping and soggy. They used to serve a piece of panini bread with your order now they serve an oversized crouton. I mean common take a little pride in your establishment. While the food is good and it used to be one of my favorite places for pancakes, the last couple of times we have gone in the prices they ring up are higher than the prices listed on the menu board. The previous time they honored the menu board prices, as they should. This time the girl at the register very rudely stated it doesn't matter what the board says, it rings up differently and she can't do anything about it. I understand inflation and increasing prices, but fix your menu board if that is the case. And if you are to not going to do that, train your employees not have an attitude when the price difference is questioned. read more

Restaurant (which is apparently a chain) is clean and the staff is gracious. Decor is supposed to be Main Street USA, but the generic photos and the city named tacked on don't really do it. I ordered the Anaheim Scrambler (altered to my liking). I did not have to wait a really long time for my food. The eggs were very good, although I only received two measly pieces of avocado. Luckily for me, the manager was making rounds and offered me more on the house. The potatoes that came with my meal were seasoned perfectly, my only complaint being that there was more onion than potato. havent been to corner in a while and the club sandwich was okay. real issue is that the guy in front packaging orders for here and to go -- QC -- was being really unsanitary and i was pretty shocked. he poured soup into a 'for here' bowl without gloves on, and then used his hand to slide out the trashcan and then placed his hand into the trashcan to throw away something, and then touched the bowl and placed it on the tray afterwards- all without washing his hands. this happened multiple times too , really gross.. read more

Since I eat out everyday, I am continually rotating between different breakfast eateries. I have been to this particular Corner Bakery dozens of times. THE GOOD: Overall it usually has a clean & inviting atmosphere (tables spaced out well, plenty of booths, pleasing wall decorations, etc.). In my opinion the quality of the food is good, service is fast, & prices are reasonable. THE BAD: When dealing with many the workers it has what I call a "corporate feel". Let me explain. Although always friendly and polite, they seem to be the typical mix of young people and retirees that you would find at a fast food restaurant. They all go through the motions but usually offer nothing more that what an automated order taker might do. Allow me to offer this oneexample: I like their harvest wheat toast very much and I often order it with my breakfast. The only thing I ask is that they butter the toast while it is hot because by the time it gets to my table and I try to butter it with the foil wrapped brick butter they provide, it just sits cold on top. So long ago I started asking if the cooks could please butter my toast in the kitchen. They always smiled and said "yes". To date they have never actually done what I have asked. I have spoken with the manager and he too said no problem, still no butter. After many, many visits being served dry toast I decided to have a heart to heart talk with the manager on duty. I asked him why they always agree but never actually accommodate my only request. He then revealed that the cooks do not have butter at their disposal in the kitchen so it is impossible for them to butter the toast while it is hot. So, this begs the question; why do they continually say yes to what is not possible? And what possible explanation can there be as to why their cooks do not have access to butter. When I walked in I was met by a huge line. The ordering is super unorganized and the kitchen got backed up quick. Had to wait 30-45 minutes for my food and was not offered a free pastry for the long wait. Service was poor as they were in an overwhelmed panic mode from all the orders. They have gluten-free bread, which I like, but I sure miss their lentil soup. Super consistent Corner Bakery - every item I try here is always great. My favorite is the pesto cavatappi with a side of tortilla soup. There is a nice, ample seating area outside. Placed an order for pickup at 11:51am and it said it would be ready at 12:06 when I got there I saw my 2nd order was ready which was just cookies and my 1st order of pasta wasn't. It was 12:26 when I got there so I thought maybe someone took the wrong one. This young gentleman employee was just at the counter so I said excuse me is my order ready? And he looked confused so he asked the guy packing up the orders and he told him no that all I ordered was cookies like he didn't care. After showing the confirmation on my phone he said brb. He just went to the back then he came back and I showed him again and he said he is going to talk to his manager. He comes back with a paper and said it was an error in their system. He offered me a free pastry, what is a free pastry going to do when this is on my lunch time causing me to be late? I asked him how long it was going to take he said 5 mins. Then I saw this door dash order have the same issue happen, where the order didn't go throughout go on their system. But the manager helped him so his order was ready before mine and all I ordered was a pasta. Everyone that ordered after me their order finished first. The manager saw me and just said oh it's coming right up I promise. After 40 mins later my order was finally ready at 12:46. I was so close to cancelling my order then it was finally ready. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I won't be returning. Instead of prioritizing my order which should've been done 30 mins ago, they went and did all the other orders after mine. I previously worked at corner bakery for a year back in 2015 in fountain valley. The food was always amazing. The pesto cavatappi had breadcrumbs on it and was creamy and delicious. The chicken pomodori was always crispy and delicious. I got food here yesterday at 7pm and our pesto cavatappi had practically no flavor, it was runny and no more breadcrumbs come on it which is surprising. It's NOTHING like I've had before! The garlic bread was disgusting. My chicken pomodori was barely toasted and tasted like stale white bread with also no flavor. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! And big waste of $40! I ordered pancakes for the first time here and was not disappointed. When the server delivered my dish, I asked if he had any sugar-free syrup. He said he did, but came back later and told me they were all out. I was fine with that, but a few moments later I overheard the manager ask the server to buy sugar-free at the grocery after his break. Not only have the prices gone up (which I understand) their portions are smaller too. So it's a double whammy. There was no line & there were only a handful of other people in the entire place & it took several minutes before the manager noticed us & took our order. She was completely aloof the whole time, looking around, & couldn't remember if she had given us a number. She forgot to give us cups for our drinks. I always order the chicken pomodori & it came out tasting sort of chemically--maybe like the oil they cool it in or something? And the chicken was dry & tasted odd too. I peeked in the kitchen by where the bathrooms are and I was so disgusted by the garbage stacked up and the layer of filth on the floor. Mind you, this was after finishing my meal. To no surprise, my husband and I got sick within 3 hours of eating our lunch. The management here needs to be fired and replaced. This place is a health hazard and a breeding ground for food borne illness. I've been to sketchy taco shops that were much cleaner. Shame on this location for having management and staff that simply don't care. I visited this place today before the lunch rush, so no excuses folks. We love Corner Bakery and after ordering food for my toddler at Boston Market around the corner we literally threw out his food. We ordered our usual pasta and soup. We ordered to go but stayed to eat. When i opened the pasta it was cold! Not only cold the container barely any pasta. Pretty much left over scraps. When i proceed to open salad the tomato was shriveled up old bangles dried salad' i went to the counter to return it, and the kid with blonde hair replied "so what do you want me to do about it"? I asked for a new salad and with a annoyed look he seemed as if he couldn't lift his arms to hand me the salad cup, it was opened with no lid! While touching the top! I asked for a lid and he rolled his eyes! Terrible experience at Corner Bakery on La Paz. The restaurant is dirty, the staff couldnt care less. My plate was dirty and when I asked for a clean one I was told it wasnt dirty!!! The sandwhich was " thrown together on a dirty plate". My mom ordered a bagel with cream cheese . The cream cheese was indeed BUTTER! When i took it back to ask for Cream cheese I was told that the two are very similar and therefore hard to distinguish, when I suggested that maybe that was an issue they should address I was met with" It is what it is"!! Very rude staff. Not one smile, they don't even look at you in the eyes. The cashier, very cold and unpleasant took the order (the Farmer's scramble that comes with potatoes and fruit). The plate arrived, with the eggs and fruit only. I asked about the potatoes, and she just said "no potatoes, we don't make them when we run out...".
