This café has truly gotten disappointing I used to frequent this place with friends a few years back and after my most recent visit it was depressing to see the café in such a sad state. A lot of the tables had dishes or crumbs on them despite the place being empty while the careless employees loudly joked around with each other on their phones behind the register, all the booth tables had one side with the seat cushions peeling up from sun exposure, the utensils they gave us to eat with that we fortunately didn't need to use were spotted with soap scum (I don't even want to think about the potential of the plates), and half of our meal was not worth finishing. My fiancé ordered a panini and fountain drink while I chose the Ham and Swiss Croissant and a Chai Latte with Almond Milk. The Chai was bland at best, had almost no spice and was really watered down, and was one of those we didn't bother to finish. The other was my fiancé's panini, and the man normally finishes everything. The only thing worth eating was my Ham and Swiss Croissant. The sweet croissant was pretty tasty and made the sandwich; if the ham and cheese were on anything else it wouldn't have been near as good. This place really needs a thorough cleaning and a staff rotation before I'll consider returning. I'd rather try my luck with Panera because this Corner Bakery location was unacceptable. read more

I can only recommend Corner Bajery for their baked goods, not their hot breakfasts. I was really looking forward to a good basic breakfast. What I got was like a free hotel breakfast at Holiday Inn Express. The eggs were reconstituted and so dry. I can't even describe the consistency. Sort of like corn meal mush. The sausage was also over cooked, dry and mealy. The toast and fresh fruit was tasty and fresh. My daughter had a panini which looked more like a toasted sandwich. She enjoyed her meal and had a banana nut muffin which was good. Coffee was also very good. The cafe was quiet so it's a good place to have a meeting over coffee and pastries. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table and clear it when finished. The young lady at the counter was pleasant. But it was the worst tasting breakfast I've ever had. I can't believe they don't have real eggs and resort to powdered eggs. Very disappointed. read more

This is a cute cafe in Stone Oak that serves coffee, hot cocoa, oats, parfait, baked goods, breakfast (pancakes, scrambler plates, breakfast sandwiches) and lunch (salad, soup, sandwiches). Service was amazing. They deliver the food to your table with napkins and utensils. You can ask them for water cups as well. You can help yourself to refill coffee, soda and teas. I noticed at 9:30am that the variety of milks they offered needed to be refilled. It is a great place to meet with friends, conduct a meeting and do work. It is spacious and not noisy at all. My panini was delicious and the price point of great at $10 or less for a sandwich/plate. I will definitely be back again. read more

This is one of my coffee hangouts. Love their hazelnut cream coffee and their desserts (recommend the cranberry orange baby Bundt). I have also eaten their sandwiches, and breakfast. Their food is actually pretty good, if a bit pricy. The service can be slow and sometimes, coffee and tables are not maintained, but the reason they are still five stars for me, is their staff. Staff, at this location, is friendly, accommodating and likable. I have come very times and they are always amenable. Good place to visit and worth it for the staff. read more

One weekend during my stay in San Antonio, I got an email from Corner Bakery Cafe saying I could get a free small coffee with any purchase that weekend. I usually go to a Corner Bakery in Southern California, where I'm from, but luckily, there were two Corner Bakery Cafes where I could redeem this reward at: one at Alamo Quarry Market, and this one at Stone Oak Plaza right off the 1604 just west of the 281. I was planning to arrive at around 10 AM, but of all my visits to Corner Bakery, I don't recall when breakfast hours end and when lunch/dinner hours start. I gave them a call and was told over the phone that I could get a breakfast entree in the afternoon/evening or even some pasta early in the morning. So there was no need for me to rush to try a breakfast bowl lol. After providing my registered phone number to claim the weekend coffee, I told the cashier I wanted my "any purchase" to be the Power Breakfast Egg Bowl, which consists of scrambled eggs, ancient grains, chickpeas, oven-roasted tomato, fresh mozzarella, pesto, power greens, and toast. Then, the cashier asked what size coffee I'd like. I thought the reward was for Small only, but when I asked if a Large would work, she said it did, and so I went with the Large. Definitely appreciated that, especially since I was planning to visit Buc-ee's in New Braunfels right after, and there was heavy traffic on the 35 North towards the state capital. I chose to eat inside, and I was handed an order card with a number on it. I sat at a two-person table closest to the coffee dispensers at the corner of the cafe, but it took me a while before I realized I was supposed to place the card on top of the salt & pepper so the servers could see which table to deliver the order(s) to. After about 5 minutes, a server came by to drop off my Power Breakfast Egg Bowl alongside a fork and knife wrapped inside several napkins. The bowl also came with two slices of toast. I wish I had gotten a spoon instead of a knife, however. The eggs were meh, like pretty comparable to Black Bear Diner. The rest of the bowl wasn't that much better, but looking back, I don't think I should have expected the bowl to *taste* good. It was supposed to be nutritious and give me enough energy to start off my day, which it did. In fact, it gave me enough energy to walk around the Town Center at Creekside in spite of how hot it was that day. I didn't fill up my coffee cup with coffee until after I finished my meal. I had never noticed a coffee flavor for Italian Roast Decaf at my usual Corner Bakery, so I decided to give it a try. It tasted pretty watered down and something I wouldn't want to try again unless it was late in the day, but I'm glad I finally got to try some Italian Roast at a Corner Bakery. I'm sure I would have enjoyed the usual choices: Baker's Blend or Hazelnut. Overall, my visit was more like a 3 rather than a 4, but since my choices weren't supposed to *taste* good, I'm willing to give it a 4 instead of a 3. It also helped that I had a nice chat with an employee there who is also from Southern California! Though she's originally from the SFV, she told me her husband is actually from the LBC! I am a regular at Corner Bakery where a group of us meet in the mornings. I am impressed with the manager that always goes out of his way to be welcoming and accommodating. I had a Latte and Oatmeal today which was spot on. The food and service is always good and the facilities clean. This is a cute place to grab lunch! It reminded me a lot of Panera bread. The panini I had was delicious and the dressing for my side salad was so yummy!! My husband had one of the pastas (it had a tomato basil sauce) that came in a massive bowl and was delicious as well! The service was great, with friendly staff members taking orders and cleaning the area quickly. It was very quiet when we went (3pm on a cold, rainy day) so finding a seat was no problem. Ok seriously. If you've never tried CBs pancakes, I wholeheartedly recommend doing so. Words cannot even describe how amazing they are, in large part to the amazing texture. This was my first time trying this location. The restaurant was clean, nice open floor plan and a lot of seating. We were greeted promptly by the cashier who was very pleasant. When our food arrived the server was also very friendly. She told us the pancakes are the best around. I'd have to agree with her. The pancakes were FANTASTIC! Eggs and bacon were cooked well and tasty. The croissant sandwich was delicious. The croissant was fresh, cheddar cheese was sharp, bacon was and eggs were perfectly cooked too. Only downside was the amount of eggs was too little. There should've been enough to cover the sandwich. I also had a vanilla cappuccino which was one of the best I've had. Although I've seen Corner Bakery locations throughout the country, this was the first time I've actually entered any of them to pick up food. I placed two separate mobile app orders for pick up, which were promised within 15 minutes of ordering. Full disclosure that both orders were free, with each being a reward that I redeemed via the app. (Only one reward per order is allowed.) Since I haven't been to any other Corner Bakery locations, I'm not sure if the layouts are similar across locations, but this particular spot had a weird maze-like layout that made it difficult to spot the pick-up counter upon entering one of two entrances. I entered from the side, where you have to walk through the dining area to make it to the ordering line/pick-up counter. The other entrance opens straight into the line for ordering. The ordering line area is walled off from the rest of the dining area, which made it awkward to navigate to from the side entrance. The pick-up sign that hung from the ceiling also wasn't very large, so I ended up circling almost all the way around that area to find it. For first-timers here, pick-up is to the left of ordering, and both share the same counter space. I ordered a Maple Pecan Bar and a Cinnamon Cake Creme Slice. Both were available in the app, but when I went to pick up the sweets, I was informed that they didn't have the Cinnamon Cake Creme Slice. I opted for another Maple Pecan Bar since there were limited options available. There is a price difference among the bakery sweets offered, so I was surprised that I was asked to pick out whichever item I wanted that was available at the time. Had I not redeemed the sweets as rewards, I may have ended up paying more for an out-of-stock item that was substituted with a lesser-priced item. I will say that the employee helping me was incredibly nice & sweet and deserves a 5-star rating. The Maple Pecan Bar itself was fairly good, not extraordinary, and definitely unmemorable. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again, and especially not if I paid full price ($3.99 each) for it. I didn't have an impressive experience here, so I think I'll stick to Panera Bread for both the savory and sweet yum-yums. read more

Yes, it's a chain. It's still one of the freshest, healthiest options in town for salads and sandwiches. Simple, quality and balanced ingredients are a win. I'm underwhelmed by the lack of healthy options after having lived in other major cities like SF, Chicago and LA. So this is a go-to around Stone Oak. But her price was double what my Choose Two cost (you pick a half sandwich or panini, cafe pasta or salad or cup of soup)! Yes, I said double. And as you can see from the photo it looks about the same amount of food. I chose the same salad: Power Greens & Grains Salad. She didn't really like all the grains and didn't end up finishing even half her salad. I ate the whole thing after stripping off the oven roasted tomato. Despite this I didn't like it much and wouldn't order it again. There was too much of the ancient grains on the salad. They made it feel gritty rather than fresh like a salad with such fresh ingredients should taste. My sandwich was the prime rib and provolone panini. This was pretty tasty. I like the mix of flavors between the meat, cheese and sourdough bread with the crispy, melty texture. However the amount of meat wasn't very satisfying especially since this was just a half. I was disappointed. I don't mind paying a good amount for quality ingredients but make it worth the price. Overall I enjoyed the experience but because of my friend and not because of the food. However... if you want fresh ingredients and new age recipes this place is for you. I've been to this location several times over the course of the last few years. I've always been willing to "go again", but my visits can always be described in one word: "Ehhhh". Most recently, my girlfriend and I ordered online and picked up out order on the way to a personal matter. It was early, so we both opted for breakfast paninis. When we got to our destination and opened the wrapped sandwiches, we were both disappointed. The sandwiches barely had anything in them, and they weren't really paninis. They may have been on panini bread, but all resemblance ended there. If they were put on a panini press, they set a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for LEAST amount of time cooking a panini on a press. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet they weren't put on a press at all.... Save your money. Countless better breakfast bakeries around the area. read more
