Bakery Lorraine is a solid spot to grab some good coffee when going to The Rim! So this BL location is in the plaza behind Palladium. Please note that parking can be a little difficult when is very busy, however if you are coming on an early morning before stores open you should be fine. The restaurant itself is really nice and love the open concept option they have. Unfortunately their espresso machine wasn't working during my visit and they only had a couple coffee/tea options to choose from. I decided to go for their cold brew since I needed a good caffeine kick and also go their cheese danish toasted. The cold brew was perfection and the cheese danish was absolutely delicious as per usual. My only reason for not giving them a full five-stars was the staff. The people working the counter and the drink section were just slacking pretty bad. You could tell the cooks were hustling and the manager was back and forth cleaning and running around, but those other two were clearly bringing down the ship. One clear example was my cold brew order. The person working the drink orders forgot to check so after some time waiting I decided to go and ask her directly. She immediately prep the drink and then told me there were no lids, which I have no issue with if they ran out. However, I then overheard another staff telling her where they are. You would think she would've come back and be like "ma'am, here is a lid apologies for the confusion". Noup, I could hear her just saying "oh! I didn't know". Similar to my case, I overheard more silly and ridiculous issues with orders that could've been fixed if those two staff members would just give a little more care. Regardless, I don't think this location might be the best representation of Bakery Lorraine as brand. I have always been a fan and love their location at The Pearl. read more

Of course all the pastries, treats, and coffees GREAT! I'm a hot chocolate lover and Thurs is one of my favorites. Theme grilled cheese is absolutely amazing, with goats cheese and some others melted together. The tomato soup is good too. It comes with a slice of bread that has melted cheddar on it to dip in the soup. I like to get this when I'm sick. Perfect cold weather dishes. The quiche is another one of my favorites. Personally I think the bakery Lorraine at the Pearl is just better overall, and cuter inside, but this one was the same great food and service. There is also more open seating at this one. The food is great. The service can be terrible. One person handling orders coughed into both of her hands and then, without washing them, handled a customer's plate to deliver to their table. Another employee insisted on taking my pastry order not at the pastry counter, but at the register 15 feet away (not customary). She then directed the cougher to fill my order. I told her I did not want the cougher to do that and told her why and she then directed her to wash her hands. No apology. No semblance of kindness or recognition. Just RUDE. A friend and I stopped by Bakery Lorraine for afternoon coffee and treats this past weekend. At about 2:30PM, they were pretty picked over on their selection with the exception of macaroons - they had a ton of those. We ordered two cappuccinos, a chocolate caramel tart and a lime tart. We were given the tarts right away along with a number so they could bring the cappuccinos to our table when ready. The tarts were both impressive and elegant in their presentation! Once our cappuccinos arrived, we each added sweetener and tried them. While it was good, mine seemed to have less foam than a normal cappuccino, was a bit thinner in consistency and wasn't as hot as I would've expected. I did love that it was served in a large mug, but it did seem to cool incredibly fast. The tarts however were delicious! The chocolate caramel tart was very rich and smooth in texture. The lime tart tasted just like a key lime pie. I would go back for tarts for sure! read more

First time here and a bit disappointed since I had heard great things. First the young man handling pastries did not change his gloves the entire duration of our breakfast. Also the other young man at register was polite but lacking some enthusiasm. The pastries were all fantastic- why I give 3 stars. All were super fresh and they even warmed up my kiddo's cookie. The cuban was lacking the mustardy flavor making it a bit dry. However the potatoes were very flavorful. The tart was AMAZING! The restaurant was clean and cool. The water glasses could be polished a bit more to avoid the water stains but they were not dirty. Definitely wanna try again and see if this day was just a fluke. read more

Ordered the seasonal salad - it did not have the goat cheese on it. I went to the counter and all of the employees were just standing around. "Oh yeah, it is supposed to have goat cheese,we can put some in a bowl and bring it to you". Then as I'm am eating the salad I noticed not dressed and no pomegranate.i went back to counter and same employees just standing around. "Oh, are out of pomegranate". They gave me a small bowl with dressing. After the first screw up, they should have told me out of a main ingredient. I shouldn't have had to go back to the counter 3x. Bakery Lorraine at The Rim in San Antonio, TX (there are many here) is a French version of our Starbucks here in the states. This starkly decorated, yet upscale breakfast / lunch place is making some beautiful bakery goods, nice breakfast sandwiches, and really good coffee. I had a terrific Latte and an avocado toast that was pricey, but well worth it. The acoustics are such, that it was the perfect place to meet a business associate of mine to discuss some "Texas" deals that were happening. To say that I was disappointed with our last visit was an understatement. We had a medical emergency come up that we had to leave for. When the cook was asked to make the order to go, he looked at the cashier ugly and proceeded to throw his utensils and food around and slinging the orders that were ready onto the counter out to the cashier. Both cashiers were visibly embarrassed. We tried to reassure them it wasn't their fault and that we just had an emergency and had to leave. We waited 10 more minutes and though he worked on half our order he proceeded to work on other orders instead of ours. He would not answer the cashiers and they would have to go around to counter to check on things. We finally had to leave. We did not receive a refund nor our food. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I thought I'd treat myself to a French toast and a coffee but when I got the French toast it definitely looked perfect crispy with no signs of egg batter. It was nice looking but when I took the first bite you could taste the old/too hot grease it was cooked in. It reminded me of fried carnival food. When I asked they confirmed it was deep fried. Wish I would've known this before ordering. I ended up with a stomach ache before I even left the restaurant (The bathrooms were really clean though). I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place previously! This is one of our go-to spots for breakfast/brunch and also lunch. The food is also spectacular and the staff is always super nice and helpful. Some of our favorites are the quiche-- best I've ever had (my husband agrees). They make exquisite lattes and cappuccinos-- good LORD and the size of the mug will make you squeal with delight. Let me give you a gift: Order the grilled cheese with tomato soup for lunch and you'll think you die and went to heaven. To die for!! Wow oh wow! Recommended by my friend who used to live in san antonio. This bakery is so chic and modern. I love the setting? Very European. The food was delicious, so far everything we have tried is great.
