Whenever I'm visiting friends in NYC, this is usually a spot that we go to. It is Harlem's friendly neighborhood bar where you run into most of the Harlemites in the area. The times I've visited they usually have a dj. There's a single bar with 2 to 3 bartenders. They offer a great popular brunch menu and experience that is bound to get you a little tipsy and well fed. A year ago I walked into Corner Social and never looked back. Its become my GO To Spot. I've have probably eaten all or most of the food one the menu..the staff have become friends and and family. I have bought my brothers, sisters, nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, coworkers and even my boss. I even go by myself and have met great people. We came in late for drinks the other night after dinner at Sylvia's. Fun, vibrant scene with a lot of people and good music. The cocktails we got were delicious (Harlem sage, Lion) and there was a lot of outdoor seating if we ever come back for dinner. We came for my cousins birthday, although we were running late due to the festival and the restaurant was very accommodating to us. The staff were very nice. We started with calamari and wings, and the mango habanero was the best!! They have personal mimosa bottles for $25! For entrees we had the bacon chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, Louisiana shrimp and Mac and cheese. The mac and cheese were ok. The chicken and waffles were bomb! I was in New York for the new year visiting a friend, and he suggested we try out Corner Social in Harlem. It wasn't Sunday but they had the brunch atmosphere anyway for New Years. The inside has a long table in the middle of the room, and assorted smaller tables that hold between two and six people. It was decorated for Christmas, so I can't comment much on the natural state of interior design. I did peep some art on the wall though, so I'm thinking the inside reflects the personality of the surrounding area in Harlem. There's also usually outdoor seating, which seems like it'd be nice in warmer weather. There was a DJ playing a nice mix of older hip/hop - R&B. They have a $25 bottomless mimosas deal for just mimosas with the purchase of an entree, or you can get bottomless mimosas, sangrias, and rum punch for $35. I did the latter because I wanted variety. I started with a rum punch. It was good, but a bit too juicy for my taste. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of home fries. The home fries were unseasoned. I put salt and pepper on them, but it didn't help. I got them switched out for fries, which were better. The chicken and waffles were good though. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful, and waffles are waffles, but these were a good consistency and flavor too. The mimosas and sangrias had more kick to them, and after a while I felt the effects. The bill for two entrees and two bottomless' came out to $130 after tip. The last time I'd gone to Corner was two years prior to yesterday's visit. I was looking forward to shrimp and grits and mussels in white wine sauce. I had a great memory of them 2 years back and couldn't wait to have it again. The shrimp and grits were awful--the four shrimp were drowning under a red sauce with the most onions and green peppers you can imagine and the mussels sauce was not flavorful at all. Very unprofessional and rude. Do not give them your money. Nothing more exciting in 2021 then being denied entry and watching three other groups get let in right in front of you, with security smirking at you. I can give AF less about eating or drinking here. I was meeting up with a friend which is the only reason I wanted to go in. They told me your friend has to let you in. Fair enough, but you know not everybody is monitoring their phone while at a restaurant. It's pouring raining outside and I said can I just get escorted to look for them for 30 seconds. If not, I'll leave. They wouldn't even let me do that. But then they let a group of three beautiful women in so they didn't get caught in the rain while I stood outside. F them. Harlem is full of nice establishments that won't deny you entry. It's sad because I was at this place in 2017 and was treated with a lot of respect. It would be different if they denied everybody entry but they clearly were pressed with me. Hope both security guards from 8/1/2021 get fired. If it's the company policy to deny entry to Black men and let everybody else come in, I hope the building burns. I'll also mention that 5 minutes after I left, I came back because my friend finally checked their phone. The security guards knew they were in the wrong. The waitress inside was nice. Food actually gave me severe stomach problems the drinks are a little too sugary and not well balanced but our waitress and food runner were the sweetest!! After happy hour we decided to come here for food. There was plenty of outdoor seating, and we wanted to take advantage. We asked for outdoor seating, and we ended up waiting about 15 minutes. When we were signaled to go to a table, they led us to a table inside. They acknowledged we wanted to sit outside, but there was a miscommunication somewhere. So we had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes to sit outside, despite seeing people who were there after us get seated before us... so that was disappointing. We also saw some folks get kicked out while we were waiting... I think they almost caused a big scene. Once we were finally seated, it was getting really busy. I ended up eating the empanadas and the shrimp mushroom spinach mac and cheese. I inquired about what price a long island would be, and the server said $12-$14... for NY, that's what I expected, and I agreed to it. Unfortunately, it ended up being $17 and he didn't tell me the actual price before giving me the drink, so I really couldn't change my mind even if I wanted to. Great vibes here. There was a bar and a DJ "blasting" music while we ate. It was great! The audience in this restaurant is pretty young (18-late 30s). The people that worked there were incredibly nice and helpful in helping us pick out what foods/drinks we wanted. Came here with my family for an early dinner. The food was very blah for the price of everything. I ordered the lamb, the garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. The mashed potatoes were very lumpy and not smooth at all. The lamb didn't have any flavor or seasoning. The spinach was sautéed fine. My sister ordered a mimosa and it came in a slender glass which means there was barely any in there. My mom had lobster bisque and she said it tasted like mostly cornstarch. We got there right at the beginning of dinner so I don't know if the chefs needed to get adjusted to the shift. 5 stars for Sherita my server! She was attentive, personable, and funny! She made my first time here pleasant. Visited on a Sunday. Loved the atmosphere and live DJ. The tuna burger was served super fast, came out piping hot, and was cooked to my specifications. It tasted OK: not bad or bland, not phenomenal, just ok. I would choose something different next visit just so I could make a comparison. The drinks were a total bust! I ordered a Moscow mule that tasted like I was drinking Sprite, so I decided to switch over to Tito's and cranberry juice.That drink was no better; it tasted like straight cranberry juice on ice. The drinks were the most disappointing part of my visit because I was hoping to spend the rest of the afternoon here sipping cocktails with my friends. Corner social was definitely a vibe. Came across this place walking down Lennox. We did have to wait since we didn't have a reservation, but only had to wait about 20 minutes. (we wanted to sit inside because that's where the DJ was, but they had outside seating available.) When you arrive your temperature was taken and hand sanitizer was given to you. You also were asked to write you name and contact information for COVID tracing. We came solely for drinks; however, when we saw the table beside us get food, it make me want to try their food because it looked that good! I didn't eat though because I had just eaten. The service was okay. Our server was not that attentive, and we had to get his attention a few times. It was crowded, but not that crowded. The DJ was playing good music. I came for happy hour and ended up staying 4 hours. LOL!!! They only have happy hour prices for drinks only no food. I had the crispy chicken strips as an appetizer, which was surprisingly good. Especially if you mixed the honey mustard sauce and buffalo sauce together. It makes a nice sweet and spicy mix for your chicken strips. After staying a long time here I ordered a ribeye steak dinner cooked to perfection. The manager recommended and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent choice. Maybe its because I find the bar is always crowded (not enough seats) and walking around the bar area to social or try to meet people is small and not too conducive. This was a nice place to come for a working lunch/interview. The staff was very warm and courteous offering options of seating while I waited for my party to arrive. I was immediately greeted by the bartender and we chatted briefly about non alcoholic drink options. My party arrived shortly thereafter so I didnt get a chance to try one of his creations. We were seated at a table near the open patio. Menu choices all look delicious and decadent, and we were keeping it light for lunch. I decided on the salad with the crab cake and shrimp. Everyone in my group had already been there before and they tried the shrimp & grits (without sausage) and a pear salad with add-on shrimp. Note: menu choices will shock you a bit, with heavy items such as filet mignon and full dinner-like entrees, so be prepared to spend upwards of $25-30 during lunch. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars which transpired next captain from getting their. When the food came out friends shrimp were missing from his beautifully crafted, robust salad (they forgot to bring them, after he reminded them). My salad was so small it was more of an appetizer.... and for $19 I expected at least double the greenery. Aside from its size, it was absolutely delicious! So I been here once before I remember the food being good. This time, it really wasn't. I ordered the lobster raviolis and it was bland. The sauce tasted very inauthentic. Like Olive Garden would have been better quality. My friend had the same experience with her pasta and said it was also over cooked. My whiskey mule was the highlight of the evening. As far as the vibe, the music was great and the service was good as well. They take Covid very serious. Mask must be worn Unless at a table. They take you temperature and make you out on hand sanitizer before being seated. They have some they will provide you will or if you have your own you can use that. But they observe you using it.
