I'm so disappointed. A friend referred me to Cornerstone and my first visit was great. I have a 14 year old 13 lb Jackchi Mia. My second visit was with Dr East due to Mia's allergies. She recommended the shot which I planned for but she also said I should use a "mousse" on her feet to help them heal from the biting. I asked the tech if it will make her sick since she constantly licks them, and the tech said there would be no problem. I applied the mousse when we got home. But that night Mia threw up her dinner and then threw up her breakfast the next morning. I called Cornerstone and had to wait for an available vet to respond to the tech who called me back a few hours later. The vet said "she should have worn a cone". Well - duh? Why didn't they tell me that when they gave me the mousse? Which cost $36 - down the drain. Last week I had another allergie visit and that went badly as well. Mia has an issue with her neck from a long ago injury and will scream if you touch it a certain way. I don't even have a collar on her so nobody accidentally pulls on it. I told the tech this fact as I handed Mia to her and the tech (I don't know her name but she's tall with dark hair) said "yes it's in her charts". She proceeded to slip a leash around her neck, set Mia down on the floor and began to pull her into the room for the shot as Mia was reluctant to go with her. Seriously??? Why didn't she just carry her? She's 13 pounds. Tech was cold and uncaring from my perspective - no explanation. When she brought her back out she barely said a word to me...no smiles...no report on how it went....not good customer service. read more

I bring my pet here but I feel like they are always trying to squeeze as much money out of me as humanly possible. And the women vets that I've seen there always have this "I'm better than you" snobby attitude. The only vet I want to see there now is Dr. Burke. He's really nice and isn't trying to bankrupt me. Dr. Leea Wilkenson and all of the staff at Cornerstone were amazing with our 2 11-year old huskies. The commute from Circle C was very manageable. We were going all the way up north to Dr. Wilkensons former clinic but are now beyond thrilled that she is so close. One of our fur babies is a tri-pod. And huskies in general, tend to be stubborn and playful--and way too smart for their own good. Dr. Wilkenson and her staff handled them seamlessly. I do NOT recommend Cornerstone. They were good when trying to find out issues with my dog, but I left 3 voicemails for an appointment to have my baby rest in peace. I never received a response from them. I ended up going to an emergency vet at 11:30 pm. My boy got increasingly worse during the 3 days that I waited for Cornerstone to return my call. They took my money but couldn't be bothered to help my boy rest in peace. See Nextdoor website for over 100 message chain. Good and Bad and then make your own decision. I don't like writing bad reviews but if I don't share my experience, others may have a more serious problem. My pets (5) have been patients at Cornerstone for 14 years. And I have always trusted Dr. Joe Burke. And still do, but the Office Manager is another story. Our dogs were out of heartworm medication. We had recently tested positive for Covid and I didn't want to risk sharing that with the office. We called to order more meds. Since we weren't able to bring our pets in, we weighed them at home at the request of the office staff. They processed our prescription and I drove the 30 minutes it takes from my house to their office. Upon arrival I called to pay over the phone and said they could either leave the pills out front or on the hood of my car. We hung up. A few minutes later I was called back by the office help and she informed me her Office Manager was not willing to let her deliver the medication. I told her we wouldn't get out of the car, and she said no I can't give you the medications without weighing your dogs. Keep in mind one of the dogs had been at their office 2 months prior for a spay. The other has been going for the entire 14 years. I asked to talk to the Office Manger, Amanda. What a joke! She should not be allowed to talk to customers much less make decisions. The technician I had talked to earlier and made payment with was 100 times more professional than Amanda. Amanda attempted to sell this as it was in my best interest because if my dog weighed less than the weight I gave them, the dosage would be smaller and cost me less. Really. I'm concerned about a few dollars. Worst part is, Amanda's policy actually promotes customers coming in with Covid. I guess that's what I was supposed to do. Take my dogs into their office to weigh them so I could expose the entire staff to the virus. Needless to say we left without the medication. I later received an email from Amanda saying how important it was to weigh my dogs and that she cared so much for dogs. At the bottom of the email she said "if I would like for her to send records for the dogs elsewhere, she can do this for me to ease the transition". As if she was going out of her way to send our pet records to another vet so we could get their medications. I'm in a customer service business, I would NEVER offer someone to leave my business. I would take care of their needs, especially in a circumstance where the person was keeping my best interest in mind, so I wouldn't lose them as a customer. Not sure what customer service school Amanda graduated from but you never help a customer leave your company when getting customers is so difficult to begin with. We found a new vet, took them in after recovering from covid, and one dog weighed the exact same amount as I had given Cornerstone, the other was 1 pound different. Thanks Amanda for having our dogs off heartworm medication for an extra 2 weeks. You obviously have little care for dogs leaving them susceptible to heartworms because of some silly "guideline" you wanted to implement. I wish Dr. Burke the best, again I think he is a great vet. But Amanda putting dogs at unnecessary risks is not worth me staying a customer at Cornerstone. If your dogs needed a medication to survive and Amanda implements her guidelines and you have Covid, kiss your dog goodbye. Beware. read more

I have taken my dog there several times. During Covid they pick him up outside so I haven't met Dr. Lea personally but she calls and seems very concerned about my pet. However they are expensive and the meds they give out cost 2-3 times what I can find them for elsewhere. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your meds. J read more

Very disappointed with the service I received recently. I've been a customer for 3 years and will never go back. I called for an issue that was possibly picked up at their location 5 days earlier and they said that it sounded life threatening and my dog needed to been seen immediately but they didn't have any appointments available and could not see him. I was astounded! When I asked what I was supposed to do they said that was my problem (paraphrasing)!! So much for providing caring service! I don't recommend using this veterinarian practice if you care about your pet. read more

We have a puppy. As expected with puppies, she has some issues that require vet care. I was recommended this vet from my groomer at Petco. The office is extremely clean and welcoming. Every person on the staff has always been extremely nice. There have been times where I needed help with my dog and they go the extra mile to squeeze her in between appointments, see her right before they close, and very last minute. They are always accommodating and make time for her. They take extensive notes and get to know the client and they remember every little thing. We had been in and out quite a few times since getting her! We also have a 2 year old adult who doesn't need as much help, and they take great care of him too. Today we went in for a gastrointestinal issue for my puppy and they gave her meds in a beautiful decorated custom bag. They are so nice and explain what's going on to me at a level that I can understand and process. They love my dogs! They treat both of them like family. The exam rooms have comfy chairs. LOVE that I get the honor of writing their first review!! 5 stars on all fronts - Veterinarians, Staff, Facility, Scheduling, Care. Dr. Burke, Dr. Stange, and staff offer an extraordinarily high level of medical care & caring, and I feel so fortunate to have them in the local area. I had been with my previous Vets for a VERY long time- they couldn't have been better with me or my pets, but after hearing great things about Cornerstone from a professional dog handler/breeder and from another dog lover like myself, I decided to give them a try when we adopted a new puppy. I was so blown away by the entire process - from initial appointment, to the length of time he spent with my new pup, the technician's expertise, follow-up phone calls, etc..., that I transferred my 3 other dogs from my prior vet to Cornerstone. Since then, I've had dogs in for their yearly checkup AND two emergency situations - a possible slipped disc and severe anaphylactic reaction - with each visit I've been more impressed. There has not been a single issue that could be improved upon. Spotlessly clean clinic, top of the line and up to date equipment, appointments run on time, PLUS their fees are beyond reasonable. Dr. Burke is now my vet! He does not make me feel rushed, he spends the time needed to discuss my fur baby pet situation and really listens to you. His demeanor is friendly, patient and his knowledge is very apparent and I do not feel as if I'm being hurried along in the slightest. He listens to everything you have to say and takes any suggestions that you may offer into consideration and you actually feel like you are having a back and forth discussion. The techs have been very sweet and the front desk staff are on the ball and the clinic is spotless and spacious. I have multiple dogs and all geriatric and they will all be seeing Dr. Burke from now on. I will not be taking them to anyone else, they are my fur kids and the feeling I got on my first visit with him is that he actually cares about your pet and they are not just his next patient and most importantly I found a vet I can trust and I've seen a lot of vets over the years. Vets are expensive, there is no way around it and especially like myself, if you have multiple pets it can cost a lot of money and you dread if they get sick but I found the pricing to be reasonable. read more

The people are friendly but it is a money hustle. From the time you get there until you leave they are trying to drain your wallet. If you have an emergency, you can forget anything that would resemble compassion. The front desk just won't listen to it and you'll end up at the emergency clinic in Austin. I highly suggest finding a vet that is more worried about your pets than your credit card. I have been with these people since about 2010 but the sales have gotten so bad that I'll go elsewhere. Please beware of Cornerstone Animal Hospital. When we moved to Buda, we started taking our dog to this clinic because it was so close to the house. The people seemed friendly enough and although we usually saw a different Vet each time they seemed professional. Whenever we showed up at the clinic they always had an estimate of what that particular visit was going to cost. They always included all kinds of tests that they recommended. For example, each time they had to do a heart worm test even though my dog was up to date on her medication. Before you even see a vet, a vet tech tries to get you to agree to all sorts of up-charges. On our last visit, I had called and asked for two very specific things to be done to my dog. When I showed up at the clinic, they had an estimate that listed $161 worth of things and DID NOT include the two things I asked for. One was a test that we had just done a few months before. Last year, they scared me to death by telling me that there was something wrong my dog's heart and she needed this procedure to have what basically amounts to an MRI with a lot of imaging done of the heart. They were telling me that she probably had heart disease and would need to be on medication for the rest of her life. I readily agreed to the test that was several hundred dollars. In the end, the tests came back fine. There was nothing wrong with her heart, but they surely got their money for the tests. They also did some oral surgery removing several teeth they said were "bad" and claiming she had tumors that might be growing into her head and if I didn't do something she was sure to die of cancer. I have no proof that these surgeries were unnecessary, but now I wish I had gotten a second opinion. When I showed up to our last visit and they had this estimate that didn't include anything I asked for, I was just done. I left the clinic. It's my opinion that these people prey on pet owners and their love for their pets. There whole thing is to charge people as much as possible. I'm sure they have training meetings with their entire staff about how to go about this. There are places nearby that are cheaper and don't do these things. If they suggest your pet needs a surgery or some expensive procedure, I would get a second opinion. I have obtained the Vet Records for my dog and we are moving to a new clinic. UPDATE: September 28th, 2015 - I took my dog to a new Vet. This vet couldn't find the murmur that Cornerstone Swore was there. The new Vet added that the entire heart procedure was probably unnecessary. read more

Amazing first visit!!! Great facility and great staff. I moved to Buda from Austin and was paying tons of money at my Austin vet and got a lot of "I don't know we will wait it out" answers. Decided to make the switch to cornerstone and saw Dr. H. She was amazing and the staff was so helpful. They gave me tips on how to introduce a puppy to my home with my cat. And didn't try to sell me a bunch of stuff. Really sincere and helpful. Plus SO AFFORDABLE. I went ahead and prebooked for my puppy to see them as well!! Definitely recommend. read more

I love Dr. Smith and have had many good visits with the other vets at Cornerstone. Even though she would not help me with my neurological cat, I have always had great respect for her and her awesome techs. Unfortunately she now has a very rude and incompetent staff (still good techs but a receptionist and practice manager who are terrible). They are completely unhelpful and had held up prescription food for my special needs dog. They acted like i was trying to get morphine or something, not simply low protein dog food, sheesh! I used to drive all the way from Austin but will never bother doing so again. It's hard to re-establish a good relationship with a vet, so I am frustrated that I feel the need to. So just be prepared to deal with that if you chose this vet. read more

We have two dogs who are our babies. They treat us like family at Cornerstone. They never push us to do anything we aren't comfortable with and they always make sure that we know our options. The email reminders are the best because although I am great at remembering their monthly pills their annually shots are a little fuzzy. They are great at fitting us in in the event of something urgent and when I panic are a dream at calming me down. I mean they are my babies! I am just glad they understand that! We have been taking our dogs to Cornerstone since moving to Buda almost 3 years ago. They are always friendly and greet me with a smile. When my dachshund, Chewy, needed a large tumor removed, he was there for several hours as it was a very involved procedure. The staff were very caring and always remembered him when we came in for our regular vet tech nail trimming appointment. Olivia (vet tech) is such a sweet person and is always so wonderful with my dogs. We now have a rescue dog, Anna, who can be difficult at times due to her history. Olivia is always sweet and understanding, even when Anna is being a hassle. Recently, Chewy was very ill and needed immediate attention. I brought him in, without an appointment, to be seen. That was not my best visit, and perhaps it was emotions running high, but it seemed as if I was being rushed to go to the ED vet in Austin due to the time of day (Cornerstone was closing). Whether or not this was the case, that was the perception. I've never felt that way here before, and even though I felt rushed, the vet techs were very caring and concerned. Chewy passed at the ED later that night, and I received a sympathy card from the office a week later. I appreciated the card with the kind words, thank you. We went to the office yesterday with a new baby, and were so lucky to see Olivia again. She was so sweet and offered sincere condolences regarding Chewy. We saw Dr. Burke for the first time and absolutely love him! He made us feel like we were the only people there, and we can tell he truly cares about animals. I will continue to request Dr. Burke, and appreciate his time and attention to our dogs. We love Cornerstone, and are thankful they are the vet in our neighborhood. :) read more

We took our new puppy to see Dr Smith, and had a great visit. Everyone was very nice and helpful. All of our concerns were addressed. Dr Smith checked to make sure we had the info we needed regarding new puppy stuff like kenneling and house training. One of the receptionists even gave us a tip regarding microchips. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We ended up going home with a few meds, and I was actually surprised that the price was as reasonable as it was. I definitely didn't see what the reviewers who say it's overpriced saw. read more

I love Cornerstone. Both Dr. Stange and Dr. Burke have always take such good care of our dogs. They took great care of our two amazing Rotts, who we have lost over the past year. They were wonderful through both those horrible experiences. They now treat our two beautiful Beagles with such care. The entire staff is so great with our babies.
