They've taken care of our three cats for years now. We lost our youngest unexpectedly. Despite not being an emergency vet they stopped what they were doing to help me and did everything they could to try to save his life. The compassion and kindness they showed us afterwards (and at every visit for that matter) means the world to me. This has been the most expensive clinic I have been to in 10 years with my pet. I can't even get a simple rabies vaccination without paying for a $100 "wellness check" even though my dog received a check up 2 months ago for a skin rash. So to get a rabies vaccination, which is required just to get her nails trimmed at any pet groomer, I have to pay $75 for the vaccination, and $100 for the wellness check which is required. I'll just take her to the Austin emancipet clinic for $17. I'm done with this clinic, barring extreme emergencies. read more

This has been by far the best vet visit I've ever had. The staff was friendly, the interior was adorable, and the cost was fairly reasonable. We had to take our pup for some itching. We thought she had mange, as a patch of her hair came out. Obviously worried, I came in nervous and within a few minutes of observing, our vet was able to give us some options to calm down her reactions, as it was just allergies. Not only was it a huge relief, but it was broken down in such a well way that I felt assured that they'd be able to help us. I saw on a previous review that someone said they experienced the team talking really quickly, and I think we have to remember as customers that this is their eveeeerryday lives. When I didn't understand something the team said, I had to ask questions. They're not intentionally going fast, they're just used to this for various times a day. When I asked if they could repeat something, they were very sweet about it. My favorite thing about this place was they gave us a "high" and a "low" pricing for everything, as some of the things were important but not 100% necessities for that appointment regarding my pups allergy issues. I really appreciated this because a lot of vets just give you the bill, but MVV broke it down on what is urgent to do that day, and what could wait a little. I'm so grateful I trusted my intuition to come here and will be recommending this place to my neighbors and friends read more

I really liked this clinic, however I am changing vets after their poor customer service. I have 4 pets, one with allergies that is seen 3-4 times a year. Everytime I go in I spend $250-$500 on each visit. This last time I went in with my allergy dog and was given ear medicine. Upon dispensing the medicine I didn't put the top on incorrectly and the entire bottle spilled into my dogs ear. I went back to pickup more, I asked for a no charge this time because this was a mistake and hasn't happened before, never asked for anything free, and was told by Dr. Potter rudely No. I think this very poor customer service, give a patient a break or at least offer a discount. I know they didn't pay $80 for the bottle, at least give me the price they pay. Very poor customer service and will not go back. read more

It's taken me about four months to decide to leave a review after this veterinary office almost had me euthanize my senior cat before it was necessary. In April of 2023, routine bloodwork brought back what this vet described as markers for chronic kidney disease in our 14 yr old senior cat. They recommended a course of treatment and dietary changes. Over the six months that followed, and numerous additional visits, it became clear that the cat's condition was worsening and the suggested course of therapy was not working. She was lethargic, sickly, at times incontinent, and underweight. The suggestion of euthanasia came thousands of dollars later, in September 2023. Something in me decided that I needed a second opinion, so we returned to our old vet in North Austin, Dr Farmer. He was immediately able to tell via bloodwork that the cat had a UTI, perhaps all along, that had been untreated due to the incorrect diagnosis of CKD. Not only did he say that her bloodwork otherwise looked like that of a young cat's, but that euthanasia was completely off the table and should have never been recommended. Additionally, he said that the IV fluids that the old vet had been recommending routinely had been overloading the bladder and kidneys, worsening the UTI and potentially causing the horrible symptoms. A one week course of antibiotics and appetite stimulant, and a diet change back to non-CKD food, and she was back to herself in about a month. She gained back 20% of her weight, and four months later is back to playing + energy level she had as a young cat. She'll be 15 in a month. Every visit we had at this vet was pretty timely and felt pretty thorough, the folks were nice enough, but I can never recommend them and will never be back after they almost let my cat die due to poor diagnosis and treatment. The decision to get a second opinion saved my cat's life. Thank goodness we had the time, resources, and the funds to figure it out. I would never wish the experience this place put us through on anyone. read more

Im kind of kicking myself for selecting this place off the google reviews, they're a lot higher than they are on here. On google it looks like this place is one of the best vet care centers in Austin. Maybe for some that's true. For me it wasn't. I brought our little puppy in for her first exam and noticed everyone spoke really fast. I mean really fast, was hard to get a word in. Everyone was very pushy with vaccines, explaining that pretty much everything outside is dangerous for dogs, possum urine, parasites, the fear mongering was off the charts. I asked the vet about new evidence that has come out over the past few years saying to wait to spay and neuter dogs until 1-2 years old so that their joints can finish developing. Vets don't like this because it delays the surgery and doesn't pay them out as fast. That's the truth. The real truth is that neutering isn't necessary and all those organ problems they tell you will happen later is just exaggerated fear. Most people will not take to this review, but if you view your dog more than jut an animal that serves you in your household, and actually declare them a family member on the same level as you, this type of care isn't going to cut it. Just like human medications, big pharma owns the vet industry as well and pushes all sorts of unnecessary vaccines, surgeries, and pills for your dog to take, which they don't need. Does a wolf in the woods need a vaccine? How about a heart worm pill? News flash, we all have parasites. ALL. they're not that bad obviously since we are still functioning on this earth. I'm giving 3 stars out of compassion, but I don't feel the visit was worth that. Doctors need to be able to critically think about the things they are recommending, go beyond the text book. Ask yourself, does this really makes sense? Would you remove the reproductive organs from your children? Why are we editing animals in whatever way we please just to serve us? Why do we treat them like humans when they are a completely different make-up? Start asking these questions and you will see what is wrong with the medical industry. As someone who had a last visit to a doctor and dentist in 2012, my teeth are perfect, my health is perfect, and I have saved 10s of thousands on unnecessary medical bills. 10/10 for Manchaca Village! We had our first visit today with Dr. Wise and the staff at Manchaca Village exceded our expectations. We have a Chihuahua with a true Chihuahua attitude plus a bit of roid rage, Dr. Wise was able to do a full physical exam with him and win him over with some treatos (and maybe a little muzzle but we wont talk about that) At no point during our visit did we feel he was exacerbated, overly stressed out or terrified. She is knowledgable, realistic, empathetic and personable. We did not feel pressured to do anything and I know most pet owners can feel that vet offices "only do things for the money"- we didn't feel that at Manchaca Village. This week, the winter storm left me in a bind. While my regular vet had power outage, my dear tabby Logan started having tummy trouble and not eating or drinking for several days. I called my insurance vet line and they said he needed to be seen immediately. I waited a stressful night, searching for a vet, while his symptoms worsened. This morning I googled and Manchaca Village was open early at 7 AM. I called and they picked up immediately and were so sweet and professional. They were able to book me same day. I was so stressed out and worried, and they both comforted me and validated the urgency. The staff treated me like family, calling me Logan's mama and I am! Scarlette did a very thorough checklist and I explained his escalating symptoms. Then we met Dr. Tomlin. He was courteous and professional and told me I was absolutely right to bring him in. He did a physical exam, while my cat started to feel better and be very aggressive. He determined lots of functions were normal, but he was dehydrated. I okayed the other tests, and Logan was a total jerk and scratched the tech! They assured me this happens often, but I felt awful! They explained it was a good sign that he was no longer lethargic and feeling better. On Dr. Tomlin's excellent and compassionate advice, I decided against sedation as his aggressiveness made not as safe for my cat. They prescribed anti-nausea med and topical appetite stimulant, and advised I seek ER tonight if he continued vomiting. He was patient and generous with his time, explaining each step in detail, and explaining our options when Logan was too angry at the techs. I left, feeling well informed and comforted, knowing I'd made the right choice to try the RX over the sedation that could have dropped his blood pressure. It's been all day, and his symptoms have improved wildly. He was too aggressive for the nausea pill, however I easily applied the stimulant to his inner ear. He took a long nap and is now eating and drinking water with abandon. He is even acting affectionate already, bucking into my hand and jumping up to the food container, begging. I am so relieved and grateful this vet provided me with excellent and thorough care, treating us like dear family members. In an impossibly stressful situation due to the weather, it means the world to me they took us as a new patient and saw us same day. He is currently sitting in his cat tower, wagging his tail, looking out the dark window. A vast improvement from this morning, when he pathetically perched on the top of it and stared at me with sad tired eyes. I am just beyond grateful to Dr. Tomlin and Scarlette and their compassionate and caring team. If I lived closer to this location, they would be my permanent vet, no contest. I am sure he will continue to improve, and I will continue the stimulant for several days and watch him carefully. I have been spared an expensive ER visit and I am confident he will be back to his old self in no time. I hope his tech is doing very well; the staff are angels. Thank you so much! read more

This is my second review of Menchaca village Veterinary Care ( had to type it out in full so there was no mistaking who I was referring to). The first review is on Google search. The second time I needed a pet to be seen same day happened on August the 28th 2024, I had a kitten born on June 29th that was in pain and unable to walk with it's back legs. The issue happened the day before, but as it persistented thru the night I knew she had to be seen. I called the Vet down the street ( literally a five minute drive walk, if I didn't have a car) but their earliest appointment was a week, whereby Manchaca Village was able to see her that same day. Taia Lubitz, DVM saw the less than 8 weeks old kitten in my care and after X-rays it was found that she had two fractured femurs. ( Neither of us expected that as we thought it was a dislocated bone) She gave me all of the the opinions ( regardless how unsavory...like euthinesia) and put in calls to the shelter and specialist ( which I went with). Thier techs stayed with Moo and comforted her while everything was arranged. They even sent a follow up request to see how she was doing. They are fantastic. read more

Willie Nelson and hid side kick het into all kinds of puppy adventures together- most involve eating things they should not. MVVC is always ready to help with emergency and/ regular care. Willie vomited 6 times in 30 minutes, they took him in, examined and resolved his problem, along with JP who got into the same trouble. Thank goodness they are so professional, caring, knowledgeable and willing to take on an emergency when they were already very busy. I love these vets and staff. Dr. O is absolutely amazing. I've had the pleasure of having her as our vet the last few visits and she really takes the time to discuss all treatment plans. My dog is super nervous at the vets unfortunately, and Dr. O has been an absolute gem with slowly acclimating him to the room and you can tell how passionate she is about what she does. And I love that she sends her appointments notes afterwards in an email (as I'm very forgetful and don't always remember all the details). I came to Manchaca Village after recently moving to south Austin. The main concern that brought me in was my dog gaining weight and having noticeably lower energy than usual - she just turned 3, so is still pretty young, though not a puppy obviously. The other concerns were some spots of hair loss on her paws and itching of her hindquarters. Negative: - Doctor suspects that the hair loss and itchiness is due to allergies. Suggests I make an appointment with the dermatologist. I agree that my dog likely has allergies so I think this is a good idea. However, I wanted to be EXTRA sure that this wasn't something more serious like a parasite or bacterial/fungal infection. My last question to her was "can you confirm that you feel confident ruling those things out?". Her answer was "well I haven't seen her medical history so I can't see what tests have been run," to which I respond with "okay... I sent over her entire history two weeks ago via email. Could you take a look at what I sent over so you can tell me if any parasite/bacterial/fungal testing should be done?". Isn't that a vet's job? Isn't it their responsibility to understand an animal's history so they can get a full picture of what their health looks like? After we get off the phone and I receive a call from the vet tech, she explains that there are 3 different tests I can choose to run that apparently have not been done yet. I choose to go with one that will determine if she has an infection. Results come back within minutes and she has a yeast infection. If I hadn't specifically asked for confirmation, we would have left the vet with an undiagnosed yeast infection. - Weight gain and low energy. Doctor thinks it could be from getting older, less active. Well, my dog just turned 3 so I feel like that's too young to start becoming fatigued and noticeably sleeping a lot more during the day. True, less active would explain the weight gain. But maybe we should look more into WHY she's much less active because that's worrisome. Blood work is done and everything comes back normal. Dang, I was hoping that could give us some answers. Doctor then starts saying "just keep an eye on her and come back if anything continues," and it seems like she's ready to hop off the phone. I say "wait wait... this doesn't really tell us anything. My dog is young and acting like something is wrong, so I don't want to just stop here and call it good". Doctor says "it could be a heart issue but I don't think that's likely because she's so young and the blood work looks fine. It's probably because, like you said, she's less active". Yes, I understand that! That's why I'm here! I ask how we could determine if it's a heart issue or not. She explains that I'd need to go to a cardiologist and goes over pricing. At this point I'm frustrated and I point out that without me asking questions and prodding about what else we can do, she's basically done with me and ready to get to the next patient. I can tell that she's frustrated too and says "well I DID just explain that you could go to a cardiologist and --", I interrupted her and said "no, I was the one who asked YOU what else we could do!". It's clear that this is just going to be a back and forth of who said what. Both the doctor and I know the order of who said what, and she knows that I was the one asking what more can be done, while she was perfectly happy telling me to just let it be. - The entire visit took 2 1/2 hours, including the 30 minutes we waited to be seen. Since we're dealing with COVID, I waited in my car in the Texas heat the entire time. Yes, my AC was on (which means my car had to stay on the entire time). Positive: - The staff were nice. I'm really impressed with this vet! I was able to get my sick animal in the same day I called, unlike with my last vet, I would always have to wait a few weeks until I can bring my pet in! The service was fast, and they came right up to my car to check me in which I loved! They also have shaded parking which was super nice waiting in the car, I could have my windows down :) I could tell the vet tech really cares for animals and I knew my girl was in good hands! read more

Just a warning to those who need urgent care for your dog, I would look elsewhere. Looking back on my experience there from 2017, my dog had a sharp object in the back of his throat and needed immediate attention. I drove to my nearest animal hospital around 2pm. I went to the front desk staff with my dog in my arms obvious that he was in pain/chocking. I was explained my urgent situation in hope for them to take him in. They denied me, at the time I was taken aback and proceeded to cry and explain again. Instead, they told me to take him elsewhere. Which I obviously did and they were able to help me. During covid I can understand the rules and under staffing of facilities. However this was in 2017. I fail to comprehend how they couldn't squeeze in this dog who needed urgent care. I may add this is the only vet that has turned me away. Ex; my other dog had a tummy problem so I went to another facility and they were able to squeeze him around 6pm(closing hours). read more

By far, these people have earned my respect, Thanks and referrals as well as my business from this visit forward. I was searching for an immediate visit for an issue with my Frenchie and I called Manchaca Village but they did not have any availability. I asked to be put on a wait list and sure enough I was called. I was called about 1/2 hour after leaving a different vet clinic having had my Frenchie diagnosed and a surgical procedure recommended and scheduled for a couple of days later. Something I was distraught over. I decided to take advantage of the opening and go see them immediately for a 2nd opinion. I did not tell them about the prior diagnosis opting to let them examine him based on the information I had provided the other clinic. The diagnosis from Dr Smith was different than the surgical solution offered just a little over an hour earlier from a different vet. A treatment involving antibiotics and steroids should give us a response in a few days I was told. Once diagnosed I informed Dr Smith of the prior diagnosis, he re-examined my dog as well as discussed him with another vet and said that his associate concurred that the proper course of treatment was to treat as he had prescribed and take another look in a few days if there was not improvement. After 72 hours my Frenchie showed remarkable improvement. Even so I scheduled a follow-up and saw Dr Smith for his opinion and he was happy to seem my doggie! Had I taken the the other vets advice he would have had surgery within 48 hours and be recovering. Something that scared the crap out of me. Every member of the staff I encountered here were friendly and truly appeared to enjoy their work. I highly recommend you visit Manchaca Village Veterinary Care and Dr Smith for any of your veterinary needs. They truly care for what is precious to us. On a final note, affordability. I've often heard that "you get what you pay for". The other vet clinic I visited seemed to stress on their website and in their advertising that they were "affordable" and that their business model thrived on providing low cost health care for our precious pets. I paid for two visits on the day I visited Manchaca Village Veterinary Care and the other. My costs were less than $3.00 different! Manchaca Village Veterinary Care was just as affordable while providing better care in a much better furnished office with a pet bathroom area outside as well! Very expensive. I was actually shocked at the prices because I originally came to this vet from a referral due to their low prices. A vet fee normally ranges from $70-75 but theirs was $84 (wellness). And vaccines aside from the rabies, range from $15-25 and theirs were $40-45. The staff seemed friendly but once I did show my concerns for the cost, they all shut down and kept switching off staff members to come in and discuss price or services. So for me at least, I will not be returning as the service wasn't exceptional and I can find great care for a more affordable cost elsewhere. read more

I live in Central Austin, yet I drove 30 minutes to visit Manchaca Village Vet Care due to the rave reviews and discount for recently adopted shelter pets. It was completely worth it! I am so shocked that my puppy warmed up to the staff because he's very shy and skittish. I adopted Benji the day before my appointment and he was not uncomfortable at all and Cheryl even got him to play a little! Dr. Lubitz answered every question and concern that I had which eased my mind since this is my first pet. I definitely will keep them as my regular vet. I can't even believe how amazing these people are. I got a call in the middle of the day from my wife stating that my German Shepherd was in bad shape, and boy was I not prepared. I got home and blood was SPRAYING out of his nose, and he was just laying still. I called this office and they rushed me in immediately. My car, which has white interior was subjected to blood spray, their office looked like a crime scene, as did the initial room he was taken into. They immediately took him into surgery with zero hassle, then covered every detail before proceeding with pricing. He is showing signs of cancer or lupus and they covered the biopsy and blood testing pricing before doing anything, and honestly I'm fearing a 2k bill. For sedation, surgery, biopsy, blood testing, heart worm testing, etc...... I'm not even at $700. That doesn't even cover the fact that they rushed to my car and cleaned the entire thing out. They got rid of ALL the blood and spent a good hour plus on it. They even gave a brother a beer during this incredibly stressful experience. I've never experienced this kind of care in my entire life, and I'll never think twice about where to take my animals. Cheers to you amazing people. read more

Cleaned them up, bathed them, have been bottle feeding and today took them to this clinic. Good to know they are doing much better now and they got their dewormer. I never defaulted, we did have one card not go through on the first try. At the time my husbands card was hacked. He was working in Williston, ND. And my review does not even begin to touch the surface of all the bad reviews you have. Long term clients are leaving in droves. Like animals from a forest fire. Fortunately for us we found Star of Texas and everyone I know goes to them now. I will pray for you. Liars never win. And I came in to your location one time to buy Jelly Beans RX dog food. I've been coming here for a while and was super disappointed by one of their male employees with dark hair and green eyes. I wasn't sure where to park and had called to let them know I wasn't sure where to park but he came outside and decided to give me a hard time about it and was super condescending saying how I was blocking everyone and etc. I rolled up my window because I didn't even wanna hear it. Just let me know where to park because your lot is confusing. Super bummed out on this experience. Normally everyone is real nice but get rid of that guy. I've been looking for a good vet. I have a Chocolate Lab and a cranky old cat. The Lab was having allergy issues (eating his own fur off) and is leash reactive. He would freak out if I brought him into a waiting room full of other animals while on a leash. MVVC had a whole side door protocol for just such situations. We went right into an exam room. They took a look, gave him some meds, and now my dog is a happy camper. I'll be sure to go back there for fur baby needs. read more

I finally decided to go somewhere else when on the last visit the tech aggressively held my cat down and when he snapped back the vet tech said to the other are you ok? Literally nothing happened to her. And neither of them cared about my cat. My cat was practically begging me to leave. He will get affectionate when he wants something. I regret not listening to him. It doesn't end there..on this same visit..this is where it ended forever for me... I had prepaid for a test months in advance and they refused to honor my payment. Saying some nonsense of it being too late. I left annoyed and called to ask for my pets records and they sent them. No hesitation. I had been coming here for two+ years and on top of that paid over 1k to have a stray taken care of. It wasn't about the money. It was about morals, ethics, and values. It was about the unethical business practices of the women and manager who work the front desk willing to loose a long time client by not honoring my payment of 30 dollars for a test. That's right. 30 bucks. It's not like the cost of the test went up and they needed to collect the difference. No. Just straight up, they took my money, performed nothing, and because time went by said they wouldn't perform it unless I paid a second time. So yes, I got the records but it still reallyyy bothered me that they treated me like that. There was no way that was right. So I called and asked for the owner. In fairness she was nice and I felt sorry for her that she had such a horrible team. The owner and I spoke and she said they should have honored my payment but still defended her staff. Beats me why. I guess they pay her bills. Maybe she even regrets doing that because she was shocked to find out that her staff had sent my pets records to me. So sad. Clearly her staff and manager were concealing it from her. Clearly these pathetic women and so called manager should be replaced. They can't even be forthcoming with the owner, you think they will be with the CLIENTS?? Who knows why these women are like this. Maybe they don't like nice people. I dunno. One of the vets was also difficult to get along with. Again, no idea what these people's problem is. The owner refunded me the 30 dollars but it was too late, I already made the decision that I would never go back to this place. Seriously, disgusting business practices. Wow, no idea how my experience w/ them has been so very bad compared to others! Here we go. 1. Irresponsible. They wanted to give my SENIOR PUG 3 vaccines the MORNING OF HER SURGERY when she would be put under immediately after. She could have an allergic reaction and they wouldn't even know. Furthermore, they only "made an exception" for the lepto vacc when I pointed out my dog only goes indoors and in her yard. The front staff also could not agree on which vaccines were "mandatory." FIRST RED FLAG, I should have walked then, but they agreed to take off the lepto vacc and inject her a week before surgery. 2. $$$ hungry. They gave me one quote over $1k. Okay, expensive, but I love my pup. 8PM the night before surgery, without giving me a chance to respond, they emailed me an "adjusted quote" nearly 2x as much. Wtf?? What business does that? No. I called to cancel the next morning after confirming this new quote. 3. Liars. Months after I *politely* terminated service, I wanted to refill my dog's heart worm Rx thru an online shop since they did her last test. They REFUSED and lied to me, saying: "The FDA requires that we show a month-by-month history of her taking heart worm meds." I explained I have a multi-dog household and every vet has been okay with me going through their refills one-by-one to use on all 3 at a time. Nope! Too bad! "FDA rules!" Yeah, look it up, that's a lie. Luckily, I had her records sent over to her new vet that I chose for the surgery. They happily refilled it. 4. Unprofessional. The veterinarian and technician literally baby-talked to my dog for a good 5 minutes before acknowledging my presence in the exam room. Literally, that has never happened to me. So awkward and so rude. Stay away, stay away, stay away. If you need something even remotely expensive, this place will f#@% you and your wallet and maybe your pet too. I would literally not even come here in an emergency and they are 5 mins down the road. read more

So this review is a few months in the making, I forgot to write it, but I still want to get some positive vibes out there, so here it is! This place really saved me (or should I say, saved my cat) when he was in a very dire condition and we didn't have a ton of money to spend. Our cat was a patient at another vet's office who I won't name, and when he became very ill very quickly this other vet presented us with an estimate that totaled almost $2,000. Now this wasn't "if you do all this then it will be 2 grand", the Doctor was basically telling me you HAVE to do all of this. We were so anxious because our cat really needed treatment, but we couldn't afford to do ALL THAT ALL at once! They wanted us to do an ultrasound that cost $400 alone, and they said oh and before we even do that he needs to be hospitalized for two days, etc etc. I realize that vet costs are expensive, I am not naive. HOWEVER, I can only do things step by step. We told them we wanted to knock out the ultrasound first to try to figure out what was wrong, then go from there. They literally refused, saying we HAD to do this all or nothing approach! We went into panic mode, and decided to call Manchaca for a second opinion and see if their doctors would also go with this all or nothing approach. The receptionist (don't remember her name!) was already so soothing on the phone when I told her what the other vet was doing, this all or nothing approach. I went to see Dr. Smith, he reviewed the records from the other vet, and while he did agree with what my cat's condition was, I can't even tell you how relieved I was when he said "we don't believe in the all or nothing approach". I had told him I was on a budget, and he understood. He didn't make me feel like a bad person for not being able to plunk down 2 grand at once for all this stuff. AND he said we could a single organ ultrasound instead of a full abdominal which would bring the price wayyyyy down! I was just so relieved that he was willing to take a step by step approach instead of not listening to me when I said I didn't have the money. We've also been working with Dr. Lubitz, who was very informative, and suggested we go to an oncologist (who we did, who is also great) bc they would know more about our cat's condition. I love when the vet is willing to admit they don't know everything, and refer you to someone who might know more. The $65 exam fee is steep, I wish that was a bit lower, but it's a good place, and I'm so grateful to their docs for saving my boy! read more

Dr. O is amazing. She always pays special attention to my pup and makes me feel as though she loves him as much as I do. The surgical tech, Travis, answered all my preop questions and made me feel so much more comfortable. I ended up finding out he has bladder cancer and they were so accommodating and comforting! Not impressed. It takes a lot more than being chipper and smiling to provide good service. Meaning take care of my sick pet. Instead, poor baby was injected with "fluids" and sent away.... after waiting 40 minutes on a cold, scary steel table ( instead of the comfort of the waiting room). She was shaking the whole time. I had to come back a few days later so the vet could actually DO what he should have done the first time. Oh and I was charged for the second visit too, which would have never happened with my current office now. read more

I started coming here with my cat Layla because a friend recommended them. I absolutely love this place! They helped me with figuring out why my kitty has been having vomiting issues and why she is so tiny. They also gave me options and didn't try to overcharge me. Dr. Smith wanted to try a medication before I paid hundreds of dollars for x-rays and the medicine worked! A year later my cat almost died. She kept vomiting, then stopped eating, and started just laying around and not moving around as much. After medications, scans, and IV fluids she recovered quickly. The cost wasn't too bad either. I've been to several vets in the Austin area over the last decade, and the Manchaca Village Vet is hands down my favorite. I've had a few minor emergencies pop up with my cat over the last month. Both times I called around the area to see if any vet had availability, and both times the Manchaca Vet was the only place willing to see him on such short notice. I'm talking like 2 hours before their office was supposed to close for the day. There was a small upcharge to squeeze him in, but it was totally worth it to make sure he received the care he needed ASAP. In terms of the staff, everyone is great! Both of my interactions with the lady at the front desk have been fantastic. She's so sweet and compassionate, both on the phone and in person. The vet and vet technicians have all been super great. My cat hates coming to the vet, and they've all been super accommodating in making him feel as comfortable as possible while still providing an excellent level of care. It's clear that the Manchaca Village Vet cares about their patients. I'll certainly be coming back (hopefully just for regular checkups rather than emergencies!), and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others. read more

Dr. O helped us through some very tough times with both of our kitties. Throughout their struggles with kidney failure and liver failure, everything was explained to us carefully and with compassion. We were offered several levels of treatment, with the costs explained clearly, and were made to feel good about the course of treatment that was right for us. As our cats' health continued to decline we were given additional choices and guidance in a personal manner that was much appreciated. Saying goodbye to a pet is never easy, but the staff at Manchaca Village VC made it a little less painful by treating us with compassion and sensitivity and patiently answering all of our questions. Should we adopt another pet in the future, we will definitely choose MVVC. read more

My sister and I take our two cats here, and today I brought in my miniature poodle, Glinda. We saw Dr. Smith. Dr. Lubitz sees my two cats. What I love about this place is they never pressure you into getting a million things, especially if you are honest and say 'I'm on a tight budget today'. They work with you, instead of acting judgmental. They follow up with you about how your pet is doing. The facility is super clean and always has cute seasonal decorations. The one downside is the exam fee is currently $67 which is higher than other nearby hospitals, but I believe if you are just coming in for vaccines they lower it to around $55.
