Cornerstone bakery bought the business Gimme Some Sugar -or at least I think so? I got married a year ago and part of the contract with the bakery, Gimme Some Sugar, was that they would provide an anniversary cake as part of the cost of a wedding cake. I called Cornerstone Bakery during regular business hours, no one answered. I left a voicemail explaining the situation and asking if they would honor it and to please let me know regardless of the outcome. They never called me back. So I gave Tastries my business. My anniversary is this Sunday so I can't wait for them to never call me back. I may try again in the future if their prices are better than Tastries. My wife found this amazing gem. I tried it last Saturday and will definitely be going back. I got the brown butter brownie , pecan brown butter brownie and butterfinger cookie. All of these taste like they are coming out a five star big city restaurant. The brown butter is was so Decadent and sophisticated. It was heaven in every bite the same could be said about the pecan brown butter brownie. The butterfinger cookie took me back to being a child and dreaming up cookies. It was full of butterfinger and chocolate. The owner was very nice, social and helpful, he made our experience so much better by being so welcoming. I had them make my cake for my wedding and let me start off by saying their flavors are delicious. We did a cake tasting before and it was so difficult to narrow down our flavors because we loved so many. I showed them a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like and they did it exactly how i wanted it. If I had one complaint it would be that it was more of a violet then burgundy colored like I had wanted on the details but the cake itself made up for that fact. I called around town to get someone to make my son's first birthday smash cake. I wanted a blue ombré cake and everyone either said no or had no idea what I was talking about. Gimmee Some Sugar was great! They even let me send in a photo of the shades of blue I wanted the cake to be. When I picked it up, I couldn't have imagined anything more perfect. It was done exactly like I wanted but prettier! And only $25! The only bummer was they advised me to leave the cake out so it would be soft for my son to smash into, but in leaving it out, it melted :(. Still, we used it and it was so yummy! I tasted their red velvet cupcake through a coworker and it was amazeballs. Decided to walk in and see how their other stuff tasted. Came on a Saturday as yelp said they were open 10-12. Well, there was maybe 7 or 8 cupcakes left on display and only 3 flavors. Apparently, they don't bake on Saturdays which is disappointing for the folks who work M-F. Saturdays are for selling left overs and for order pickups. We were able to taste: chocolate and carrot cupcakes. Their frosting is addicting!! The creaminess and sweetness of the frosting was a great balance. The cake itself was super moist. Now let's talk MACARONS. Had the chai tea, earl gray, pb&j, and passion fruit macaron. OMG, the best macaron I've ever had in in my life. They'r a little pricey $2 per, but that passion fruit macaron was like dream about it all day good. I got married in September and placed an order with Gimmee Some Sugar for my wedding cake. My husband and I ordered one 3-layer cake as well as two sheet cakes, since that's what the staff recommended for a guest list of ~200-250 people. It took FOREVER to get a hold of the staff when we wanted to place our order, but once it was placed and we paid the full amount, the staff reassured us that it would be smooth sailing from thence forward. Then our wedding day came. I was busy with other things during the reception, but one thing I noticed was that we had our 3-layer cake, but NOT the 2 sheet cakes. I talked briefly with the reception venue staff, and they insisted that they did not have the 2 sheet cakes in any of the fridges. So...we didn't have enough cake for our guests. After I got back from my honeymoon, I called Gimmee Some Sugar, and they told me that they forgot to deliver the 2 sheet cakes. Then they said they could give me in-store credit. It was only after I told them I probably wouldn't order from them again that they agreed to give me a cash refund for the 2 sheet cakes. I kind of think we should have been given a refund amount of more than the 2 sheet cakes because this was an EMBARRASSING situation for us...200+ people and not enough cake at our wedding! Plus, we had planned to save the top layer for our 1-year anniversary, but we couldn't do that because we wanted our guests to have cake. When I told GSS my rationale for getting more of a refund, they said, "Sorry, we're a small company and that would be too much." Well, if they're such a small company, how do they majorly flub an order like this?! Anyway....it's been more than a month since they agreed to give us a refund, but we still haven't received it in the mail. GSS is probably great for when you have cravings for cupcakes, but I wouldn't trust them with orders for bigger events. read more

We got a dozen variety in it was dipped chocolate,lemon cheesecake,red velvet,white with white frosting, snickers. We tried little bites of all and my favorite was the lemon. Oh my glob. I just had the Caramello cupcake and it was the best! The cupcake was so moist and filled with caramel. Then it's topped with buttercream and dipped in chocolate. Normally I like to cut the top off of a cupcake and flip it around like a sandwich, so that it has the perfect cupcake to frosting ratio. I feel like Simon Cowell, formerly of American Idol, but I feel the need to be honest Brutally honest. Prepare to boo me if you must. I'd been looking forward to trying the cupcakes at Gimme Some Sugar for quite some time. Unfortunately, every time I drive downtown to attempt it, I find them closed. Their summer hours cause them to close particularly early, but I've arrived during the posted business hours to find them closed on more than one occasion. My mom regularly brings a dozen cupcakes to her friend in Tulare and has purchased them at Sweet Surrender, Frosting Inc., Cupcakes~n~Crema - she's even purchased bundtlets from Nothing Bundt Cakes in the Bay Area. She called down to make certain they'd be open and went to pick up a dozen cupcakes for her breeder and several for us. As excited as I was to try them, I was rather disappointed to discover that the cake was just not as moist as I am used to and the frosting was a strange texture. Mom and her friend (and the friend's granny) agree with me. Her friend's one comment was that the cupcakes were dry. I just don't quite get all of the five star ratings. Did we catch them on a bad day? I just don't have time to drive down there another four or five times trying to catch them open hoping to taste test them on a better day. This is hands down the best place in town to get cupcakes (most cake, lovely buttercream frosting that is not too sweet.) There are a couple of downsides. During the summer they close at 1pm! The rest of the year they close at 3pm which is still way too early. It's very hard to get over to this place to get cupcakes during a lunch hour because of this, and my husband would be more than happy to pick these up if they were open until 5. They should at least think about doing extended hours during certain days of the week. They would really do more business. The other thing is that on their website there is a wide array of cupcakes to choose from but the 5-6 that they usually make are the same ones. I'd love to try the black forest cherry, chocolate on chocolate (they usually only make black and white and call it classic chocolate), PB and J, and lemon flavor, cinnamon, and the list goes on. I wish the cupcakes weren't very good so I'd never have to give this place a second thought again. People just can't adjust their work schedule because a bakery wants to close early. read more

The peanut butter and jelly cupcake is yummy. However the cookies tasted a little old and they were hard. I first discovered this quaint little bakery in 2010 when I was looking for someone to do my wedding cake. I loves the friendliness of the staff right off the bat. Once I saw their amazing skills and tasted their product, I was sold! They did an amazing job on my cake. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. I've also stopped in for some of their fun and funky cupcakes. Absolutely amazing combinations. While I wouldn't say they are cheap, they were one of the most reasonable places in town for the wedding cake. I'd say their cupcakes cost about the same as everyone else. read more
