I had high hopes for this place or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. This place is downtown Bakersfield so parking can be challenging during peak hours. Coffee shop is small and furniture looks very used, aesthetically not very appealing but I'm here for coffee, right? Several signature drink options and quite a few sugar-free options as well. I was undecided between the lavender latte and the Mexican mocha. Barista told me the Mexican mocha was her favorite, so I went with that. The coffee was extremely hot but honestly, nothing spectacular. It's was extremely basic and know I can make this at home. They used a powder mix but nothing to make it their own, just right out of can..so disappointing. They did have several baked good options. I probably wouldn't come back here. Tried Blue Oaks Coffee in Bakersfield today and it was a bit of a mixed bag. My vanilla latte was spot on -- smooth, well balanced, and exactly what I wanted. My wife's cold brew, though... was rough. Like really rough. Hard to finish. Food was also hit or miss. The blueberry empanada was absolute perfection -- a delicious, non-sweet pastry with a bright blueberry filling that worked beautifully together. Easily the highlight. On the other hand, the butter English scone thingy was honestly inedible. Overall: some real standouts and some big misses. While it was okay, I felt it was a bit lacking in matcha flavor and the color reflects that, I'd much prefer Dagny's iced matcha latte. Cute tables and chairs outside looked inviting, so we went inside and were greeted by a lovely, friendly woman that took such care and consideration in crafting our coffee. R&D was so expansive I felt the passion in craft just from reading the menu. The place is just down the street from the Fox Theater. It has the neighborhood cafe web. The customers seem to be regulars and know the barista by name. It is a rustic little cafe, exposed concrete, reclaimed wood tables, with some blue tufted sofas under the sign. Dark, and quite relaxing. The focus of course, is their coffee roast. My latte was smooth, tasty, quite restrained burn flavor. Overall a wonderful coffee. Definitely a place to hide from the daily grind and enjoy an artisan roasted coffee. read more

I really don't understand the raving reviews at this place that made me choose it over all the others in the area. I wish there were half stars on the reviews because I would have done 2.5 if it was possible. Pros: Customer service = 5 stars. The barista/manager/owner (not sure her title but name possibly started with a B) behind the counter was very sweet and helpful! -Jalapeño Bagel was absolute perfection. Many coffee shops suffer from loud equipment, but I didn't notice that here. I believe the owner works the register and makes the food/drinks, and she was just the sweetest. I ended up getting the chocolate chip cookie and some crumble muffin. The cookie was dry and the muffin was not that great. Also the muffin was way overpriced. I think I paid $4 for it. I came here because the seasonal menus intrigued me. I do not remember if I saw a seasonal menu when I was there so I got the butter beer latte. It was a little too sweet but I overall liked it. A big downfall was there was only one person working there. She was really nice, but when she has to take the order, get the pastries and then create all the drinks it's a lot for one person. So the wait time was very long. Located in what looks like an abandoned town. There was a lot of parking. Maybe it was the time of day or some weird anomaly for my not that great experience. This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Bakersfield. It is ran by Bernadette who is the sweetest and hardest working lady in the whole world. The coffee shop always has good music playing and 2 Blue chairs that are in high demand. The blue chairs are extremely comfortable. I used to bring my well behaved dog inside and chill for hours and never received anything but good vibes. The coffee is Top tier coffee, it is roasted in house and they buy the best beans, I highly recommend buying a bag but I warn you, you will never want Yuban or Foldgers coffee ever again. My favorite drink is the Breve sweetened with honey, I'm so addicted! The cold brew is amazing, the tea selection is great and the pastries are dangerously good baked fresh every day. They are open from Tuesday-Friday 8am-2pm. Remember that it's just Bernadette making coffee by herself and putting love into every cup so be patient, it's so worth it. read more

Can I say, the people who work here are so sweet and patient. I have been here on more than one occasion, and whenever there is an issue, they just take it in stride. Also, whatever they say their coffee tastes like, it freaking does. I dont remember the name, but the first drink I had here tasted like banana bread! The last time I was here, I got The Grinch, a vanilla matcha latte with an espresso shot. It was so freaking good. May just be my good too if they let me. Now, be warned, their mixed drinks are very sweet. I've been lucky to have someone to share drinks with me the last few times, but Its dessert in a cup. Tasty, coffee loving dessert in liquid form. Didn't greet me or acknowledge I was present when I walked in nor while I stood in line. I was hoping service had improved since they opened. Still slow service. Won't be back. Also upsetting is the yummy tea they sell on the side is no longer made there. First time there got the tea. Took forever to make. Bought the coconut tea and ordered it online to make quicker at home. Only reason for 2 stars is for introducing me to the tea.
