SO, we are newly local as of last December:). We have been stopping by about once a week for the past few months because its just been so darn good. We have only come on the weekends, as my husband I both work on the weekdays. So, I am not sure how crowded the restaurant is on the two weekdays there open Mondays and Tuesdays, but the weekends seem to be pretty busy. We love to come in on Sundays, as we learned they serve breakfast all day. We came in this labor day weekend, worried if it was going to be a good time. They where VERY busy. And the two girls that we have seen over the past few months are always very sweet and gentle with greeting and ALWAYS prompted with coffee, water and a smile. My husband and I have had the privilege to be served by both girls. There both very professional and sweet, even though, you can tell they are busting their behinds running around doing a great job, they have both always given us a very pleasurable experience. One is a little more timid and quiet (which we learned today named Mary) and the other with glasses (which we learned her name today also, Brandy) always asks us how our days going and seems to genuinely care if where off doing anything fun and makes our experience a little more personal which I really enjoy, and not just having small talk like some waitresses do. Brandy served us today on Sunday of labor day weekend and it was great as usual. We got our coffee and water promptly as usual. The restaurant was fully packed. Both Mary and Brandy where running around, seemed like maybe they could have used an extra hand, but still where checking on everyone. They seemed like they got their work out in for the day :). Our food took a little long but that was expected with the full house. We have only gotten a few items here but today we went out of our norm and got a portobello omelette and veggie reds. The portbello omelette was delicious but the hash browns where raw. Brandy came back around asking how it was and I informed her about the raw hash browns and she immediately went back and got me fresh crispy hash browns. I was pleased with the second batch. My husbands veggie reds where fantastic! the only little tip I would say is to have the potatoes more crispy. I think that that the kitchen must have been a bit in the hurry, understandably. Brandy checked once more as she dropped our bill and I told her about the veggie reds and she promptly took 20 percent off of the ticket. She was very professional and upbeat even with the circus going on. She was still as sweet as she always is. Well DEFINITELY be back, as we are locals now! We just were there and they were far too busy for the staff to handle. They had no tables for all 6 of us and asked if we could split and we agreed. After the table next to our party opened they would not seat us next to them as "Management would not allow them to" and I might add we had not even ordered yet! After asking for our coffee to be refilled 3 times and our food order coming out wrong I asked to speak to the manager, only to have a server named "Susie" come over muttering that she knows what we want, guess she did not see that I was looking at her. After telling her that we just wanted coffee and that our order was wrong she asked why we wanted the manager for and rolled her eyes as she walked away! Guess she did not pay attention again as I was still looking her in the eyes as most people do when they are talking to you, AS SHE ROLLED HER EYES AT ME! At this point I told her "Don't roll your eyes at me!" And she put up her hand and said "Whatever" and walked away, and still no coffee! We never did get to speak to the manager as we were told they were cooking and could not come over. I walked over to "Susie" handed her my plate and told her take it off the bill then! When the rest of the party was done, guess what?! The food was still on the bill. Server said she forgot but meant to take it off. We had eaten here every day of this trip as it has been my parents and the rest of the party's favorite for years, guess not any more. All this because ONE BAD EMPLOYEE NAMED "SUSIE" read more

I am a local, but my friends are not. I have eaten here over the past few years with many people, mostly my wife. We have always had a good experience. I have not come with a group before. And was, to be honest a little worried on a holiday weekend, but I wanted my friends to experience the cornerstone cafes amazing new creme brulee french toast. The new owner came out with a awesome new menu, Mediterranean style and American. The new breakfast kebab is to die for and is what this town needed! We where seated immediately at our reserved table. Our server, we have had many times over the years was great, I believe it was the same one that was running around 9 months pregnant last year! She seems to always remember the way I like my vanilla almond milk chi, perfect every time. She had help today with another great server. Both making sure my group had everything we needed the entire visit. Our food was to die for. My adana kebab was out of this world. We all left with full belly's and so happy we choose to come to the Cornerstone, they always seem to be spot on with food and service. My group of friends have now found there favorite spot to come too when they come north. read more

We arrived today, Sunday(8/21). It was a bit busy and only got busier as we sat down. The girl that walked us to our booth the hostess? was nice with the southern accent but quickly sat us and left. Maybe she was to busy. But our waitress made up for the lack of attentiveness. Our waitress with the pretty tattooed arm was very nice and she was being very attentive even though she was busy which is key in a diner. I was very impressed. We ordered the castle creek bagel with red potatoes, harvest muffin and a cinnamon roll. Oh my goodness was everything amazing. The castle creek bagel sounds a little bland but it's bursting in flavor. The red potatoes especially, tasted like they where homemade. I no a lot of things in a diner are usually not so it was nice. Everything tasted very fresh! Now let me get to the cinnamon roll, Yummy is all I can say! It melts in your mouth I would hire the baker to bake for me personally any day of the week. SO DISAPPOINTED. They are switching ownership and closed. This is our go to spot through town. And was so hoping to update with a review. I'm giving 5 stars because I saw a man walking from the store next door and asked when they would be opening and was told "very soon" asked if the same people where still working there explained the nice gal with the glasses learned her name is Brandy. She was the pleasant one that made our bad experience into a good one in the end the last visit will be back. And the manager, Bary, will still be managing. He knew the ins and outs of the town and professional. So happy that we know when we come through next time things will maybe be twice as good with new ownership. We arrived on a Sunday after a long night at the brew fest we needed some food! I Have been here in the past but my partner had not. And my favorite waitress was still there. Brandy she always has such a warm presence and always directs me to the best items on the menu. At her advice I tried the breakfast burrito. And boy did it not disappoint. It has hash-browns init which is a twist I absolutely love. My partner had the smoked salmon bagel and fresh fruit. I had great service here. Our server, Brandy was very friendly and attentive. She took great care of my..... well, very needy family. She kept her nice demeanor to the not so patient, rude customers around us. The only complaint I have is how incredibly long our food took and constructive feedback. We waited an hour and a half for 4 plates. Toast was cold. Eggs not cooked to temp. Brandy updated us multiple times with the wait, so that helped but these issues disappointed. Coffee was so yummy. I don't know who the guy is who left the one star review! He must work for a competitor and he's trying to drive Cornerstone down. I don't believe he waited an hour here before he was seated. The owner is one of the sweetest people I've met in the last year. There is a 0% chance she yelled at him. He's a joke. I had great service, even at a window. (California is in lockdown, COVID-19) Got the BEST espresso beverage I have ever had in my life. Food arrived hot in bag with help of a nice gentleman. Thank you Brandi, for the coffee and conversation. She helped me find a great hotel across the street, The Mossberi Hotel. We drive between Santa Rosa to Portland regularly and I've explored a whole range of places to stop on the way, roughly mid-way. This is a favorite of ours. Homemade bread and pastries, excellent omelettes with high quality ingredients--what is not to like? Oh, and their Sunday Brunch is fabulous. read more

Cornerstone Café is permanently closed, as far as I know for sale, but with no new owner in sight.
