Huge portion for gyro wrap, delicious lamb gyro meat, fresh veggies and the tzatziki was so good. It filled the whole box so we had to eat through half before we could fold up the pita. Quick friendly service. Love supporting local hard working small businesses. The Turkish coffee was also delightful. Aromatic. I enjoyed it and I tried the hot sauce too, so give that a try on the side. Foods expensive now everywhere so it's almost not worth mentioning anymore. Expect $12-14/person. The outdoor seating is right on the road so I wouldn't say there's much ambiance, but on a nice day it's pleasant. The service is excellent. Very friendly and prompt. read more

While on a road trip we yelped food near our location & found Greek Shack! Jumped off of I-5 and missed it on the first pass along the busy street. BUT, the brilliant blue caught my eye, so we whipped a U! Lots of easy parking to the rear! Wow!!! The wonderful gentleman at the tiny kitchen was so thoughtful! He took our order & assured us it would only be a couple minutes...however, it was 100° outside & he told us he would bring the food out to our car in spite of the fact there were small tables in front to eat or wait. This veteran was a complete gentleman who cares about his customers comfort! The food was beautiful, the veggies fresh & vibrantly colorful, the chicken and falafel were full of flavor & the pitas soft and lovely. Hands down the best Greek fast food we've ever had!! The Greek Shack off Hartnell... I'll be upfront--I'm a little biased here. Having spent years around Middle Eastern culture, eating authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and visiting plenty of great spots in the Modesto/Turlock area, this place falls short of what it could be. My biggest complaint: no basmati rice with many of the meals. To me, rice is a staple of this cuisine, so leaving it off feels incomplete. The meats--whether chicken or gyro--are just okay, nothing that really stands out. The hummus is decent, the salad is good, but overall the meals miss the mark compared to authentic Middle Eastern or Mediterranean dining. Pricing is another issue. I understand food costs are up everywhere, but $23-$24 for lunch feels a little steep for what you're getting. That said, I'll still go back from time to time--not because it's my favorite, but because it's the only spot in the area offering this type of food. If I want something closer to the flavors I grew up with, I'd head south. For now, I'd give it 3 stars: points off for skipping the rice and for the just-okay meat quality. read more

The family and I just recently tried Greek Shack and it's been by far the best Greek/Mediterranean food we've found so far. The lamb and chicken kabobs were extremely flavorful and juicy. Coupled with rice, hummus and a Greek side salad it's definitely gonna be my go to. The lamb Gyro was pretty phenomenal also. My partner and I visited Greek Shack on 07/08/24 around 4PM. It was approximately 113°F, yet the cashier/cook greeted us with a smile. He took our order and insisted we wait in the car due to the heat, as it is a shack (hence the name) with a few tables and umbrellas as seating. We waited around 10 minutes for the food to be ready. We both ordered the chicken kabob entrees that came with rice, pita bread, hummus, and Greek salad, and the food was amazing. The chicken was juicy and well-charred, and all the food had great flavor. I'm not sure if that cashier/cook was the owner, but you can tell he is so passionate about serving and making amazing, high-quality, Greek food to others. Despite the heat, he was enthusiastic to take our order and cook us freshly-made food that tasted amazing. We're not locals, but we highly recommend those in the area to support Greek Shack and try its delicious food. If I'm ever in the Redding area in the future, I'll be sure to stop by! read more

(We had one in Monterey we'd been going to for years called Dametra's) We were not expecting it to be a coffee shack type building in the parking lot of a liquor store, but we were pleasantly surprised by the food.
