Whenever I come to Reading, this is my go to spot! I know it's just a little stand on the side of turn Creek Road, but it is fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. The Lambeau is just out of this world. The pita bread is great. The sauce is fantastic. You can get extra cheese. It's just a really great place and a full-fledged meal. Just a sandwich is 12 bucks. How can I say no to $6 Gyro Wednesday? What a cute little shop to stop by on my road trip to Oregon. I was a bit hesitant due to the long line at the drive thru, but the wait was worth it! I ordered a Chicken Gyro Wrap. SO FLAVORFUL! I couldn't stop eating it. The meat was filling and the vegetables were fresh. There was one man working and he was very friendly, but had to everything himself! He was cashier, chef, and had to work two kiosk windows at once. We have stopped here as a family a couple times and have always had great service and fantastic food. Highly recommended.

Food was great flavors were great, taste very authentic. I had hummus, baklava and spanakopita. Spouse had the lamb wrap. All great.

Aaron is very kind and conscientious, as well as very quick at making your order. He even usually remembers to give me a bit extra of the lamb for my dog. It's basically a drive thru, but there are a couple of tables if want to eat there, on a small patio with an umbrella or two. Lamb Gyro Shaved Lamb. Greek Salad Spanakopita. Combo Plate. Gyro Plate. We usually get the Lamb combo plate, and we love it. I'm not crazy about the dolmas or their tabouli. I prefer the way I make it better. Otherwise, we love everything there! read more

Legitimately the saltiest food I have ever eaten. Typically after the gym, I am craving salt, but this was almost unbearable. Lessen the salt please! Less salt in the hummus, less salt in the dressing, less salt in the lamb. I can add salt if I need to, but overly salted food is just ruined. Kinda sad because I spend 50 bucks... on food that I couldn't actually even eat because my stomach was turning from the amount of salt my body was trying to process in the first 10 minutes. My wife and I just finished our Lamb Gyro, Spinach Pie, and Tabouli Salad. Actually we didn't finish the sandwich or the salad. It was too much food! We each had a sandwich and split the salad and spinach pie. That will be lunch tomorrow. It was all great. Very good pita, tender lamb slices. Good sauce. Fresh salad. The Greek salad was amazing. The dressing is fresh. It is a bit sour and it has oregano. Perfect for the fresh salad. The salad has tomatoes, lettuce, olives, red onion, and big chunks of feta. The feta tastes like it is fresh. Also got a lamb gyro. I don't like lamb but it was reported to me that the lamb was good. The chicken gyro that I ate was meh. The lettuce and sauce were yummy. The chicken was weird. It had no moisture and weird texture. Tasted a little like breakfast sausage. Would have been better to just get the pita and lettuce and added hummus to it. Which brings me to the hummus. It was not as creamy as store bought but I happen to like that. The only thing is that it was a bit salty. With the pita it balanced out. They also did not give nearly enough pits to finish the humus. I wish there had given more.(this could also mean that they give a lot of hummus which they do.) next time I will buy extra pita if necessary! Also got Tabouli salad which was not as lemony as I like but still ok. Would not go out of my way to get it again. Overall, delicious, just don't get the chicken. read more

I have not eaten that many gyros, but this was the best gyro I had ever.eaten. the domas were good too. As far as structures go the building is incredibly, laughingly, SMALL. You can only sit outside ha ha, fortunately in Redding this is possible. We were there in mid December. And still managed to eat out side on their bench with relitive comfort. I love Greek food, and was happy to see another possible choice in Redding. Don't get me wrong -- I really like the little blue shack on Hartnell, but it's nice to see other choices. But.....I took my daughter here the other day. She's not fond of lamb, so we had a chicken gyros and an order of dolmas. I sincerely hope the lamb is better than the chicken. It kind of looked like the sole of my karachi sandal..... (the kind of sandal made with rubber from a tire, purchased at Oaxacan sidewalk stands), and maybe similar in texture. My daughter pointed out that the people at the drive-through window got pepperocinis, but we didn't (notable because we tend to fight over who gets the pepperocini). The pita wasn't as fluffy as I would have liked, but that's a personal preference. Yeah, it was large, and not excessively expensive. So we didn't leave hungry. They only have outside seating -- this place used to be a drive-through coffee stand. So we stood at the take-out window to order, and on the other side they were providing drive-through service. We were ignored for a while, and the service was abrupt and lacking. We had to go back to ask for things like napkins and plastic forks. It was around 2 PM, so maybe they were tired from a busy lunch service? Should I have gone back and requested a pepperocini? Nah....I don't like to piss off food handlers..... I guess this place is okay, and it's a little more "centrally located" (in Redding? Huh?) than the blue shack. Maybe I'll go back and try the lamb sometime, and it'll be better. But, in keeping with my tradition of not pissing off the food handlers, I'm sure not going to let them know that this was MY review..... read more

We came here today because our normally loved Greek Shack was very busy. We had heard a rumour that Xander's was run by the same folks who run the Greek Shack, so we thought, "eh, what the hell. Let's try it." The menu is almost identical to the Greek Shack, except they charge you more for the exact same food, without using actual plates to serve it in. Everything is served to go, which bummed us out. To their credit, the combo here comes with one side and a drink, which is a nice way to keep your bill down, but if the two restaurants really are owned by the same people, what's going on here? I repeat, it's the exact same food. Lunch today was $31+, when it normally around $24, with a tip. I can hear you now saying, "Well, it's only 6 dollars." Why would I want to pay more for food that I can get cheaper (and quite possibly like more)? It doesn't make any sense. My man wanted to stop somewhere to watch the end of the football game and grab a beer on the way down from Dunsmuir, so we choose to grab a beer at Fall River Brewing in Redding. We had a few beers (and a few flights, haha) and decided we were starving and needed a bite before hitting the road again. We found Xanders on Yelp and choose to give it a try. It's literally a shack, but the most delicious shack on earth! We each got gyro's, one lamb and one chicken, and a side of dolmas. The food was to die for and the lady even gave us a few extra dolmas for having to "wait", even though we didn't wait long at all. They have a few tables outside and a drive through window. I'm addicted and I'm totally cool with it. The lamb Gyro is amazing, the tabouli is amazing and I love their tatziki. You get a tone of food for your money and the drive through is convenient. We acutally ended up with a salad with lamb on it instead of gyros today (miscommunication) and it wasn't as satisfying, but still pretty good. I was excited for this place to open. And then disappointed at execution. They UNDERCOOK the Gyros. There's a verticle rotisserie for a freaking reason! The meet should be slightly crispy on the outside. Then they serve it cold... they're systems are NOT good enough to get the food out fast, so by the time you get it, its cold. I hope the owners (who are not Greek, according to employees) read this. When I desperate for gyros, I'll stop here, but always get a little ticked off.
